Chapter 20 Good Morning...

Happy Qixi Festival everyone! Hehe.

Whether it was the long separation that had accumulated too much longing, or the unseen future that brought too much despair, the two people under the influence of alcohol seemed to want to give all the love of their lives to the person in front of them.

Drunk humans have no sense of time.

Why not enjoy the fleeting pleasure?

She and she breathed heavily together until the deep of night, until the sky began to lighten.

The next morning, Qi Yi'an woke up in Qin Ruoshui's bed for what felt like the umpteenth time.

"Um... Good morning... Sister..."

Qin Ruoshui had already woken up. She was hugging a pillow, staring blankly at the ceiling, not saying a word and not looking at her.

Qi Yi'an found the scene strangely amusing, so he turned around and hugged the pillow she was holding, forcing a laugh as he asked, "What are you doing? Why are you hugging a pillow?"

Qin Ruoshui seemed not to notice her, and stared blankly for a while before saying in a daze, "This is our child."

…What is this auntie saying?

...Both Qin Ruoshui and Qi Yi'an were people who absolutely did not want children...

The air suddenly became still...

Suddenly, the two burst into laughter. "Hahahaha, what are you saying? Qin Ruoshui!"

Qin Ruoshui seemed to have reconnected to the internet; she turned around, looked at Qi Yi'an, and burst into laughter, "Hahahaha, what am I even saying?"

...laughing, they kissed again.

After staying up so late last night, the bursts of laughter this morning seemed to have given them both a lot of energy. Lying in bed, they talked about some strange and funny things, and as they laughed, their bodies were connected again.

Qin Ruoshui pulled over a pillow that had been tossed aside and placed it under Qi Yi'an's waist. "Come here, son!"

"Hahahaha," Qi Yi'an laughed as he patted her, "You're crazy, Qin Ruoshui! Hahaha, you're going to make me laugh to death!"

"Come on, son... come over here and put some cushion under your mother..." Qin Ruoshui instructed the pillow with great seriousness, patted it after placing it, and looked up at Qi Yi'an, her eyes instantly filled with desire.

Qi Yi'an laughed as she amused him, and comfortably slept, gazing at the woman before him with eyes full of tender affection.

"So that we can..." Qin Ruoshui murmured to the pillow.

They stayed home all afternoon, and both of them were starving. Qin Ruoshui leaned against the bay window and opened another bottle of wine. Qi Yi'an lay down beside her and traced his fingers over her body, exploring every inch of her skin.

"So...when are you going abroad?"

"Soon. But it's not certain. At this point, nobody can say for sure." Qi Yi'an hated the pandemic. What kind of year was 2020 anyway?

"..." Then came another long, painful silence.

Qi Yi'an lay on Qin Ruoshui's lap, looking up at her as she silently drank, unable to discern the expression on her face.

"...Then..." "Will you still say good morning to me?" The voice trembled slightly at the end of the sentence.

Qi Yi'an listened to her speak in a daze, somewhat unable to believe his ears. He stood up and looked at Qin Ruoshui, whose eyes were already red.

Seeing Qin Ruoshui's eyes welling up with tears, Qi Yi'an tried to speak, but didn't know how to answer, and unconsciously shed tears along with her. How could Qin Ruoshui be like this? She was a heartless, fickle woman.

She leaned forward and hugged Qin Ruoshui tightly, biting her lower lip to suppress the pain in her heart. Things that can't be done shouldn't be promised lightly.

Qin Ruoshui covered her eyes, tilted her head back, took a deep breath to calm herself for a moment, pushed Qi Yi'an away, got up and went into the bathroom, closed the door and turned on the tap. Qi Yi'an listened to the sound of running water for a long time, but never pushed the door open or did anything.

"Are you starving? What do you want to eat?" Qin Ruoshui came out of the bathroom looking perfectly normal. After all, she was over thirty; there was no need for her to lose her composure over a child.

Let's go out and find something to eat!

"How about we go to Houhai to eat hot pot?"

"Hurrah!"

Author's Note:

The reason I finally updated is because I couldn't sleep after drinking a buy-one-get-one-free coffee for Qixi Festival late at night, and scrolling through my WeChat Moments late at night, I saw all sorts of couples showing off their love, which was quite stimulating. Since I couldn't sleep anyway, and I was lonely, haha, I might as well write some erotic fiction. Haha.

It's been a while since I've written anything, so I'm not really into it anymore. Oh well, it's a single-player game anyway, so those of you who pre-ordered characters can just leave it at that.

Chapter 21 Li Feiyan.

There are always certain points in life when we feel the change in the flow of time.

Many years later, Qi Yi'an realized that after meeting Dr. Li, time seemed to pass by faster.

After the pandemic subsided, Country R relaxed its customs restrictions, and Qi Yi'an finally arrived in Country R in the spring of 2021 after buying an exorbitantly priced plane ticket, beginning her new academic life. In the years that followed, after leaving campus and entering the workforce, previously unimaginable disasters gradually became the norm, and the world's political and economic landscape underwent dramatic changes following a prolonged pandemic, political turmoil in Country A, and a large-scale natural disaster in Country E.

Qi Yi'an worked in Country R for several years, then moved on to Country H and other places. Traveling to various countries, she lingered among different women, amidst a constant flow of people. Whether it was a fleeting glimpse or a dreamlike experience, time flew by, and years passed in the blink of an eye. Accustomed to the turbulent world and the turbulent life, she had always cherished freedom, and therefore rarely had days of true stability in any one city or with any one person.

And it seems that she stopped writing in her diary at the end of 2019. The days piled up and passed by, as light as a sheet of paper.

Life is non-linear; you can never predict it. For example, a few years ago, Qi Yi'an would never have imagined that he would be in the Middle Eastern desert now, engaging in a sophisticated version of petty theft.

She was accompanying her superiors to a military camp in the Middle East to conduct arms and intelligence transactions. Following a domestic uprising in Country A, the troops from Country A deployed to military bases in the Middle East were withdrawn. The original government in this region, relying on Country A's military power to maintain its rule, seized power in a coup after Country A's withdrawal, leading to a year-long civil war that claimed two-thirds of the country's territory. On the opposite side were their partners, responsible for the underground arms trade and mercenaries, who were there to negotiate deals with Middle Eastern buyers.

"Long time no see, Xiao Qi~"

The woman before him was dressed in work clothes, her short, straight hair not yet reaching her shoulders, casually draped in a neat and crisp manner, her lips naturally red. She showed slight surprise upon seeing Qi Yi'an, then greeted him with a warm, gentle smile. In the blinding sunset, Qi Yi'an looked at the woman following behind the other party's boss, unable to decipher her expression and face behind her sunglasses, but that gentle, charming smile seemed familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.

Papers flew through her mind. She quickly organized them, then calmly returned a composed smile. "Oh! It's Dr. Li. I didn't expect to see you again!"

As business partners appearing in a place like this, their purpose was already tacitly understood. Qi Yi'an met Dr. Li's gaze, which seemed playful and ambiguous.

After finishing the business and leaving the barracks, it was already completely dark. One of the leaders who had been in the barracks was now very old and mentally unstable. He had undergone surgery to replace his scalp and hands, and the scars on his face had spread. One of his eyes was cloudy with a grayish-white film, making him look like Frankenstein, eerily terrifying. Before leaving, Qi Yi'an looked out through the small window in the door for a while longer before departing.

Glancing at the figure approaching from the side, Qi Yi'an smiled and spoke up, "What are you doing here, Dr. Li? You gave me quite a fright. Does their organization also need an overdose of drugs so they can rush off to meet their Allah?"

"Hahahaha," Dr. Li laughed heartily, "After all these years, you're still angry with me, huh, little girl?"

Qi Yi'an smiled, but didn't speak, only quietly looking at her. His gaze was calm and unfathomable, which surprised Dr. Li. He seemed to have matured a lot in the few years since they last met.

"It's already late, how about I invite you out for a drink?" Dr. Li's eyes and tone were full of flirtation.

“Okay~” Qi Yi’an calmly accepted her teasing, put on his coat, and followed her to the SUV.

The desert was deserted at night, and the temperature difference between day and night was extreme. Qi Yi'an, wearing a heavy work jacket, leaned against the half-open car window, letting the cold wind blow on him. Dr. Li looked at the girl sitting in the passenger seat, her hair blown into a messy mess. Her delicate face no longer looked as sickly as it had a few years ago. She wore light makeup, and her appearance and expression seemed much more mature than they had been a few years ago.

They parked the car in a corner sheltered from the wind by a rock, and Qi Yi'an started a fire and sat down on the ground. Dr. Li sat down next to her, casually glancing at Qi Yi'an while drinking, "You're in much better shape now, aren't you? You can even come to a godforsaken place like this to get some cold air."

"Oh, not bad." Qi Yi'an pulled out a piece of charcoal from the campfire, lit a cigarette, and answered casually.

"What are you thinking about, Xiao Qi?" The woman smiled and handed him a bottle of wine, then casually snatched a cigarette from Qi Yi'an's fingers, taking a shallow puff from the filter she had used, without any hesitation.

Qi Yi'an turned his head to look at her smoking, a smile appearing on his lips. "Who are you, Dr. Li?" Over the years, she still thought about this question from time to time.

The woman's face flickered in the firelight, radiant and captivating. The gentle warmth she possessed when she was still Dr. Li seemed to linger from time to time, but now there was a more carefree and spirited air about her, along with many unfathomable qualities. In the firelight, Qi Yi'an couldn't discern the depth of her eyes.

Dr. Li smiled, her smile as sweet and cheerful as ever. "I was just doing a task assigned by my boss back then, just completing some work. I never imagined we'd have such a connection; we're practically colleagues now. Please take care of me in the future!"

Qi Yi'an smiled and clinked bottles with her, "Haha, what a coincidence! I'll have to ask for your help and guidance, senior."

"Oh, not at all! You're very talented."

Dr. Li smiled and looked up at her, a smile still lingering on her lips, but her eyes held a somewhat ambiguous meaning. Qi Yi'an stared straight at her, her eyes empty except for the firelight reflected in them.

The liquor was strong, but it tasted sweet and refreshing when you drank it, and you couldn't feel much alcohol in it. Qi Yi'an unknowingly finished several bottles before she felt the alcohol suddenly rush to her head, making her feel dizzy. She wasn't someone who got drunk easily; she had never flushed no matter how much she drank in her life. Even in the firelight, her snow-white face showed no signs of redness, giving her an aloof and indifferent air.

"I heard your name is Li Feiyan," Qi Yi'an said with a sudden smile. Li Feiyan is a well-known figure in the Z country.

Li Feiyan wasn't surprised at all. She flicked her cigarette ash and held the half-smoked cigarette to Qi Yi'an's lips. "Hmm, that's what some people call me, saying I always like to make people... die without a complete corpse, vanish into thin air."

"I don't know what they were thinking, this name is so tacky."

Hearing her casually complain about her ruthless actions, Qi Yi'an was slightly surprised.

"Wow, Dr. Li is so scary!"

"Haha~ I prefer you calling me Dr. Li~" Li Feiyan smiled brightly, "It sounds so prestigious~ Serious and stable, like the kind of person you'd build a life with~"

Qi Yi'an sensed a chill beneath the brightness. Such blatant evil.

She was never an absolutely upright, virtuous, or beautiful person; she always maintained an open attitude towards things like religious beliefs, forms of government, and ideologies. When social concepts are deconstructed, many social norms become insignificant. People who disregard social and ethical norms are considered to have antisocial personality disorder. In a sense, she could also be considered antisocial, just like Li Feiyan.

The anarchic organization to which Qi Yi'an currently belongs gradually seized power and grew in strength amidst the turmoil in various countries after the pandemic. Their actions are not illegal because laws are made by the existing government. Without recognizing the government, there are no laws, and therefore, they are not illegal. Their actions can be gray, can be on the fringes, but cannot be defined. Qi Yi'an absolutely believes that the Dr. Li sitting in front of her has personally killed countless people and done countless shady things. But she doesn't care.

During the turbulent period of her life, the world was also rapidly changing. The earth is vast, and everything is happening: volcanoes erupt, rivers dry up. Regimes rise and fall, life and death come and go. Thousands upon thousands of refugees and displaced people are ignored; if one had to name one, she was one of them. Nobody cared.

Will you kill me?

Upon hearing this, Li Feiyan turned to look at her, and Qi Yi'an's gaze was as pure as a spring in a desert.

"Oh? Tell me, why would I kill you?" The woman lit another cigarette, casually letting it hang between her fingers, and leaned back against the rock.

"I forgot the reason. But you are dangerous."

"Hehe, how could that be~ You're so cute~", Li Feiyan seemed a little drunk, her tone alluring, her face flushed in the firelight, "I still owe you a favor, little girl... Besides, isn't your organization still doing pretty much the same thing? Didn't you recently get listed as a terrorist organization by the United Nations?" She flicked off her cigarette ash and teased, "You're a little terrorist now."

The United Nations has long been a hollow shell, but it still announces sanctions as a matter of courtesy, in the name of upholding justice. The purpose of these sanctions is not necessarily for the ultimate happiness of humanity, but more of an excuse for political struggle.

The desert air was dry and thin, the sky filled with stars. Qi Yi'an looked at the woman by the campfire and couldn't help but think of that person. She seemed like a distant memory from the last century; he wondered what she was doing now. That winter in…
