Kapitel 42

Zhou Qishen smiled calmly, "Alright, just because you called me 'child,' I have to take good care of you, don't I?"

Zhao Wenchun was kind-hearted and compassionate. Putting aside past grievances, he actually liked Zhou Qishen very much. At that time, Zhou Qishen was his son-in-law, but Zhao Wenchun treated him like his own son.

An elderly man and a young man sat on the sofa chatting idly, discussing current affairs, politics, stocks, foreign exchange, and art exhibitions of various kinds—they seemed to find common ground in everything. Zhou Qishen glanced at the time, then at the bedroom, and tentatively asked, "Xiao west hasn't returned yet?"

Zhao Wenchun was also puzzled, "That shouldn't be the case, he usually comes home much earlier."

Just then, the door slammed open.

Before you see the person, you hear their voice—a series of loud bangs and clangs, which is very unusual.

Zhou Qishen and Zhao Wenchun exchanged a glance and immediately got up and walked towards the door.

Zhao Xiyin leaned half her body against the shoe cabinet, looking for support to avoid falling to the ground. Her hair fell down to cover her face, and she felt dizzy.

Zhou Qishen frowned; he had been drinking.

It took Zhao Wenchun a while to smell the alcohol. He was both angry and anxious. "What's wrong with you, child? Why did you drink so much?" He went to help his daughter, but Zhao Xiyin was like a lump of mud, and it was really hard to do anything.

"I'll do it." Zhou Qishen reached out and took over from Zhao Wenchun, steadily bringing the person over with both arms.

Zhao Xiyin leaned against him, her eyes half-open and half-closed. She was actually awake, but she was just exhausted. Zhou Qishen's brows never relaxed. He looked down at her and said irritably, "You dare to look at me?"

Zhao Xiyin blinked, her eyes shining even brighter.

Zhou Qishen was speechless, and tightened his grip on her hand by three points.

Zhao Wenchun went to make tea. "Qishen, lend a hand."

Zhou Qishen swept Zhao Xiyin up in his arms and carried her to her bed. The mattress was soft, like a windswept ocean, and she bounced along with it. Zhou Qishen was held tightly by her neck and couldn't get up for a moment, so he was hooked around her neck.

When Zhao Xiyin got drunk, she was like a cat that had been acupunctured, neither making a sound nor causing any disturbance, except for staring at people with her bright, clear eyes.

Zhou Qishen felt irritated by her stare and reached out to cover her eyes. When he moved his hand away, she opened her eyes again, her eyes even larger and brighter than before. Zhou Qishen tried to cover her eyes again, but Zhao Xiyin bit him, catching his index finger in her mouth.

Zhou Qishen's face showed pain as he whispered, "Relax."

The more it bites, the tighter it gets.

He said in a hoarse voice, "Zhao Xiyin."

Zhao Xiyin suddenly laughed, her smile radiant and undistracted.

Zhou Qishen was captivated by that smile; his heart fluttered, and his eyes burned with desire. His palms trembled as he gently cupped her face, coaxing and enticing her: "Why are you drinking?"

Zhao Xiyin shook her head.

Zhou Qishen gently pinched her nose again. "Good girl."

Zhao Xiyin seemed to understand, her eyes suddenly welled up with tears, and she blurted out, "I'm especially bad."

Zhou Qishen looked at her.

“Ni Rui is right. I am vicious, I sow discord, I am utterly wicked.” Zhao Xiyin’s voice was a little hoarse.

After a few seconds of eye contact, Zhou Qi said in a deep voice, "It's okay, I like it."

Zhao Xiyin suddenly burst into tears, her eyes glazed over with drunkenness, and unconsciously she clung to Zhou Qishen. Zhou Qishen let her hug him, his heart aching for her, and gently comforted her, "If you kill someone, I'll hand you the knife; if you set a fire, I'll go to jail for you. I love you no matter what you look like."

Zhao Xiyin was so drunk that she was completely disoriented. She tried to make sense of it for three seconds before burying her head in her mouth and vomiting all over Zhou Qishen.

Zhou Qishen stood frozen like a statue, his face utterly speechless. When he finally put the person down and turned around, he saw Zhao Wenchun standing by the door, holding a cup of hot tea, suppressing a laugh as if watching a show.

Teacher Zhao insisted on asking in a serious tone, "Do you still like it now?"

Zhou Qishen's Armani shirt was a mess. He chewed the words so hard they seemed to crumble, his face tense, and said earnestly, "...I really like it."

Zhou Qishen's light-colored clothes were completely ruined by vomit. It wasn't anything filthy, just a mixture of alcohol. He was even more worried; experience told him that Zhao Xiyin was drinking without eating anything, which was extremely harmful to her health.

Zhao Wenchun initially wanted to laugh, but upon seeing his expression, realizing he was a hopeless romantic, she sighed in admiration.

Zhao Xiyin woke up in the early hours of the morning. The bedroom light was on, and Zhao Wenchun was sitting beside her, dozing off. Her throat was sore that she couldn't speak at first, but she managed to squeeze out a sound on the second try: "Dad."

With a twitch of his elbow, Zhao Wenchun's head bobbed, and he woke up with a start. "Huh? Ah. You're awake."

Zhao Xiyin sat up, her hair disheveled and looking like a little madwoman, her eyes glazed over. "I want some water."

The thermos was already prepared, and the water temperature was just right. Zhao Xiyin drank the whole bottle in one gulp, finally feeling a bit more awake. Teacher Zhao grabbed a book and smacked her on the head, yelling, "Zhao Xiyin, do you really think the family rules are just for show?!"

Zhao Xiyin winced in pain, "Dad!"

"Dad, my foot! Recite the family rules!"

Zhao Xiyin rubbed her temples. "How could I possibly remember anything now?"

Zhao Wenchun sneered, "Who brought you back?"

"Xiao Shun'er".

Do you remember who you threw up all over?

Zhao Xiyin scratched her head, hesitated for a moment, and asked, "You?"

Zhao Wenchun grabbed a book and slammed it down again, furious: "Have you forgotten everything?! You vomited all over his clothes, and he had nothing to change into. He even had to rush back to the company for a meeting. Such a big boss, leaving in this old man's undershirt? Is that right? Is that how you treat people?!"
