I won't be your doll - Chapter 5
"I thought you'd gone mad! Thank goodness you still remember me."
Zhong Lei's smile faded, and he asked:
"What happened to you just now? Why did you look at me like that when we first came in?"
Before anyone could figure out their coded conversation, Zhong Lei uttered another startling remark.
Bi Bin interrupted, saying:
"You've gone mad too? When we came back, Yu Kai was still wandering around outside! At that time, Su Shengwen was the only one inside, curled up on the bed like a turtle. But now he's mad, foaming at the mouth, just like Lin Wei. He's already been taken to the hospital!"
Zhong Lei shook his head:
“That’s impossible! When we came back, I clearly saw the students from Group Two surrounding Su Shengwen! Shengwen kept muttering, ‘Don’t come closer, don’t come closer…’ When we got a little closer, Yu Kai looked at me with a strange look, and that’s when I fainted!” After saying that, he looked at Yu Kai, as if asking him what happened.
Yu Kai's brows furrowed once again:
"Lei Zi, have you been working too hard these past few days? Why don't you go back to your dorm and rest?"
Zhong Lei shook his head again:
"Impossible! I'm not tired, I'm perfectly lucid. When we came back just now, there was definitely a group of people gathered around my bed, and I can swear on my honor! I saw classmates from Group Two. And Kai, I couldn't possibly mistake you. You just kept staring at me like that! Staring at me with that same look you have for Lin Wei!"
"Ah!" Liu Dong slapped his forehead. Lin Wei was still lying there in the dilapidated house!
Zhong Lei also shouted:
“Yes! Didn’t you go back to look for him? Let’s go check again! We can’t just leave him there! By the way, what did you say happened to Su Shengwen?” She then got out of bed.
Yu Kai quickly pressed him down and said:
"You just fainted, you must be very weak now, so don't go this time!"
Zhong Lei pushed his hand away:
"Brother! I'm fine! I'm still full of energy! You'll see!" After saying that, he jumped off the bed and bounced a few times, then turned to smile at Kai.
Seeing him like this, Yu Kai shook his head helplessly. He knew Zhong Lei well; he knew that once Zhong Lei made up his mind to do something, it was very difficult to stop him.

Zhong Lei was the fastest; he excitedly opened the door and was the first to run out.
He felt guilty towards Lin Wei when he ran away, so he was eager to go back and check on him.
Yu Kai followed closely behind Zhong Lei. Bi Bin reached out his hand, exclaimed "Hey!", and seeing that the two in front didn't hear him, shook his head helplessly, sighed heavily, and followed them out, his movements rather awkward. Liu Dong called from inside the house:
"The duty room can't be left unattended, so I'll stay here and keep watch!" Although the other students agreed with his opinion, they all understood his intentions and scoffed at them.
So, Liu Dong was left alone in the duty room, while the other nearly ten people headed in a large group towards the place where Lin Wei had fainted.
Three newly charged flashlights shone bright beams, piercing the darkness and bolstering the courage of the group. The night wind seemed even colder, a cunning breeze swirling around them, sneaking into their clothes whenever it had the chance, causing them to shiver incessantly. They all wrapped themselves tighter in their coats, yet Bi Bin still shivered, albeit very slightly, unnoticed by others.
Zhong Lei, who was walking at the front, suddenly felt something was wrong with his legs; they moved erratically and were out of his control.
Suddenly, he felt extremely bad, a sense of sadness quietly rising within him. He unconsciously glanced at his classmates around him, let out a loud sigh that drew everyone's attention. Yu Kai looked at him, puzzled, then seemed to remember something:
"By the way, Leizi, you asked about Shengwen earlier..."
Upon hearing the words "student literature," Zhong Lei felt a sudden tightness in his scalp, as if someone had grabbed his hair and was pulling it down with all their might. He screamed:
"Ah...!"
Everyone was terrified by the scream. No one had ever heard such a shrill sound before, and no one had ever encountered one before. The sound came from a boy.
Zhong Lei was stunned. He never expected to make such a sound, so inhuman.
Then he remembered that Bi Bin had screamed like that when they ran back. So he tilted his head and asked Bi Bin:
"Why did you scream just now? Was it after we came out of that house?"
Upon hearing this, Bi Bin's facial muscles twitched noticeably. After a moment of silence, as if he were hesitating or struggling with some internal conflict, he said softly:
"Just now, when we were helping Lin Wei back, I noticed that Liu Dong was walking unsteadily, constantly trembling. I looked back at him and saw that he kept looking back, so I followed his gaze. Do you want to know what I saw?"
After speaking, he glanced at everyone with a look filled with immense fear.
"Yes! Of course I want to know what's going on there!"
Zhong Lei said somewhat anxiously.
Bi Bin's gaze lingered on Zhong Lei. He took a deep breath and spoke:
"I saw that the door of that small, dilapidated house was wide open; we had forgotten to close it, so I could clearly see inside."
At this point, Bi Bin swallowed hard.
"The room suddenly became very bright, not the bright light of a fluorescent lamp, but a dim light, like moonlight, but much brighter than the moonlight outside."
Having said all that, we haven't even gotten to the main point yet, and Zhong Lei is getting a little impatient:
"You're making such a fuss over such a little bit of light? You're a fucking piece of trash!" He was surprised that he dared to speak to Bi Bin like that.
What surprised Zhong Lei even more was that Bi Bin wasn't angry; he just silently watched Zhong Lei.
"Let me finish explaining. The light itself is not important; what matters is what's inside the light."
After speaking, Bi Bin seemed to be making a decision. After a while, he said:
"Although I've never believed in ghosts or spirits, what I saw tonight completely overturned my previous beliefs. I saw something as thin as a dried corpse standing at the door of the hut. By the light, I could see its face clearly. It had human features, but they all looked charred, a black, mushy mess huddled together. Its hair was stuck to its scalp, and where its eyes should have been, there were only two black holes with no eyeballs inside."
At this point, Zhong Lei was speechless, keeping his mouth shut and not saying a word.
Yu Kai crossed his arms and frowned.
The other students suggested going back because they knew that although Bi Bin had a bad temper, he wouldn't lie. If someone as daring as him was so scared, then...it must be very dangerous there.
However, Bi Bin hadn't finished speaking:
"It's not very tall, I think it's only about 1.6 meters..." He suddenly couldn't continue, and squatted down, holding his head.
“Ah…” he let out that eerie scream once again.

Zhong Lei rushed over, squatted down, placed his hands on Bi Bin's shoulders, and asked urgently:
"What's wrong? What's wrong? Are you alright?"
After screaming, Bi Bin just clutched his head and groaned in pain, crying out:
"My head hurts so much! It hurts so much! Ouch..."
All the classmates gathered around, and some even squatted down to ask Bi Bin how he felt, while others just stood there watching with their hands down, not daring to get close.
Zhong Lei raised his voice again and shouted:
"Quick! Go back to the duty room and call an ambulance!"
One of the students responded and ran away quickly.
Zhong Lei put his arm around Bi Bin, stroked his back, looked at him anxiously, and kept talking to him to comfort him.
Yu Kai also seemed anxious, letting go of his hands and pacing around.
Just when everyone was at a loss, Bi Bin suddenly grabbed his neck with both hands, squeezing it tightly. His large hands gripped his Adam's apple, tightening their grip. Soon, his face turned red, and he could only exhale, not inhale.
The others were shocked to see him like this and were even more at a loss. Several people stood there, not knowing what to do. They were all very anxious and helpless.
Yu Kai felt that everyone staying still like this wasn't a solution, so he squatted down and tried to pull Bi Bin's arms with all his might. However, to his surprise, Bi Bin's hands seemed welded to his neck; he couldn't budge them no matter how hard he tried. How could someone suffocated like this have such strong arms? Yu Kai was immediately puzzled. Meanwhile, Bi Bin's face had clearly turned purple, and his arms were getting colder and colder…
Finally, after struggling for about ten minutes, Bi Bin stopped moving. His eyeballs bulged out, his eyelids were slightly everted, and his tongue, sticking out three or four centimeters, hung from the corner of his mouth, covered in white foam that dripped down his lip. The hands released their grip after Bi Bin's tongue was extended, and he died there in a semi-squatting position.
The fear of death suddenly enveloped everyone. Some of the more timid students closed their eyes, while others, unable to bear the horrific sight, turned and bent over to vomit violently.
Zhong Lei's earlier sorrow had reached its peak; a stream of salty tears welled up in his eyes and slowly slid down his cheeks. Only now did he realize that he had a premonition! Someone was going to die! That's why he had suddenly become so sorrowful. Zhong Lei had only discovered today that he possessed a special ability. At this moment, he knew his special ability, but he didn't know whether he should be happy or sad.
Yu Kai just stood there, a look of disbelief on his face, shaking his head slightly and sighing silently.
For the first time in their lives, they had all witnessed a living person end their life before their very eyes. Even if it were a death from common illness, it wouldn't have mattered, but Bi Bin had committed suicide. They had heard of many cases of suicide, but strangling oneself was unheard of, even in novels.
"Lin Wei! That's right, Lin Wei! Is he dead too?" Zhong Lei thought to himself, straightened up and ran towards the back of the dormitory building, with Yu Kai close behind, saying as they ran:
"You two keep an eye on Bi Bin, we're going to check on Lin Wei!"
The others responded loudly.
The two ran to the passageway next to the dormitory building.
Lin Wei was still lying stiffly. Zhong Lei quickly went over and lifted Lin Wei up. By the moonlight, he could see Lin Wei's face, but his eyes were wide open and his mouth was slightly agape.
Before Zhong Lei could even shiver, he felt his body stiffen and turn cold, just like Bi Bin's. Yu Kai leaned over and touched his nose—no breath!
Chapter Three: The First Appearance of a Strange Dream (Part 1)
one
The city's central hospital building stands alone and bustling in the northwest corner of the city, like a cleaner diligently sweeping away the filth of the world, faithfully guarding the gates of death, and repeatedly turning away the dying.
Within a single day, this place received two groups of strange patients, both high school students. Some had died mysteriously, while others were in a coma...
A dark cloud lingered in the sky for a long time, remaining motionless regardless of the wind force on the ground.
In a special care ward, Zhong Lei fell asleep peacefully after receiving an injection from the doctor.
A beautiful girl sat on the edge of his bed. She had long hair that reached her shoulders, a smooth oval face, large, bright eyes that seemed to drip water, a small nose, and a cherry-like mouth that was even more endearing.
At this moment, she was silently watching Zhong Lei lying on the hospital bed, her eyes filled with concern and reproach, and she would occasionally pout, which made her even more adorable.
The ward was quiet in the afternoon, with the lazy sunlight casually spilling onto the floor.
Suddenly, the ward door was violently kicked open—
"Lei Zi! Lei Zi!" Accompanied by the urgent voice was Yu Kai's agile figure.
He rushed to the bedside, placed his hands on the edge of the bed, and said anxiously:
"Lei Zi! Lei Zi! Are you alright?!"
