Chapter 23

"Then, he's not really trying to harm me?"

Li Xue suddenly realized,

"Yes! He didn't really want to hurt you, did he?"

"I hope he isn't!"

Such a good brother, we've been through so much together, and now he's trying to harm me? How heartbreaking! So, I so desperately hope he was forced into this! Zhong Lei grew increasingly agitated, and quickly asked Li Xue:

"Where did Yu Kai go? I want to see him right now!"

He had already taken off his hospital gown, put on his own shirt, and walked towards the ward door.

"I'm going to find Yu Kai!"

After saying that, he disappeared from the doorway of the ward.

Looking at the empty doorway, Li Xue felt a sense of fulfillment, happiness spreading through her. Nothing could spoil her good mood now. Regardless of the details, as long as the person she loved was safe and sound by her side now and in the future, that was the best thing ever.

Someone knocked on the door. Li Xue answered, and then a face that looked remarkably like Anthony Wong appeared in the doorway.

"Miss, how is the patient?"

"He's fine now, he just left, and I'm about to go and complete the discharge procedures!"

"Um, where's your friend? Is he/she there?"

"That friend? He must be talking about Yu Kai!" Li Xue thought to herself.

"You mean the one who was sitting here just now?" she said, pointing to the bedside.

The doctor nodded, then added:

"He handled all the hospitalization procedures, and there are some details I need to discuss with him."

Oh, I see. But it seems Yu Kai will never appear again. We can't find this doctor. So I'll have to handle these procedures myself.

"Doctor, it's like this, my friend had something urgent to attend to and left early. Can I handle these procedures?"

The doctor didn't answer; only his white coat billowed and danced with the air currents from his walk...

Not long after Zhong Lei rushed out of the hospital, he began to regret it. He had run out still wearing his hospital gown, and the people on the street were looking at him with very strange eyes, as if the walls of the city's mental hospital had collapsed and a mental patient had escaped.

As he ran, Zhong Lei, with his athletic physique, quickly reached the small garden where the pavilion was located. In the distance, he saw a figure as tall as himself. Immediately, he bent down, put his hands on his knees, and let out a long breath.

Yu Kai, dressed in pure white, stood in the center of the pavilion, quietly savoring the bittersweet memories of the past few years. "Our memories are all we have," he thought. Yu Kai turned around, and Zhong Lei was standing behind him, smiling and looking at him.

"You've arrived?"

However, Yu Kai flew into a rage upon hearing this! He pointed at Zhong Lei's nose and shouted angrily:

Zhong Lei gently pushed Yu Kai's hand away and said softly:

Yu Kai sat down, still somewhat doubtful.
