Chapter 121

Lin Yi stopped the Supreme Ship, revealing the figures of the people on board, and said, "Lin Yi, a rogue cultivator from the East Sea, has come to give you fellow Daoists from your sect and Tianyin Temple a ride."

After Dao Xuan Zhenren clearly saw the people on the boat, he said, "Fellow Daoist Lin is very righteous. Please forgive my previous rudeness."

"Master Dao Xuan is too kind," Lin Yi said.

Subsequently, under Tian Buyi's guidance, Lin Yi landed the Supreme Boat on Dazhu Peak.

Looking at the familiar scenery around him, Tian Buyi felt as if he were in a dream.

The others disembarked from the ship one after another, and the other leaders of Qingyun Sect who remained behind had also arrived.

The group of people exchanged pleasantries.

Lin Yi put away the Supreme Ship, but secretly released it again.

He came to Qingyun Sect not simply to learn from Lei Feng, but more importantly to obtain a naturally occurring wonder from the back mountain of Dazhu Peak.

This item is called the "Soul-Capturing Stick".

A wondrous iron fell from the heavens into the netherworld. The ghostly fires of the underworld burned the evil spirits and fierce souls to refine it. It took a thousand years to turn red, a thousand years to take shape, a thousand years to gather the fierce energy of ghosts, and a thousand years to acquire the power to capture souls.

To establish an underworld, three conditions must be met.

First, one must be able to capture souls and control ghosts; second, one must be able to refine sins; and third, and most importantly, one must be able to initiate the cycle of life and death.

Lin Yi possesses the Tai Su Refining Flag, which can refine sins, and with the Soul-Seizing Staff, he has fulfilled the first two conditions.

The third question falls on the Venerable Pude of Tianyin Temple.

This is also why Lin Yi had previously shown goodwill towards the monks of Tianyin Temple when he was at Fox Hill.

If you want to take something, you must first give it.

Of course, if the monks of Tianyin Temple don't know what's good for them, then well, that's just how it is.

Tianyin Temple doesn't have the Zhuxian Ancient Sword, so no one can withstand the crushing power of the Supreme Ship.

Establishing the underworld and reaping the rewards of good deeds was a grand plan Lin Yi set before entering this realm, leaving no room for negotiation.

A while later, the Supreme Ship quietly returned, and Lin Yi smiled, having obtained the Soul-Capturing Staff.

The people of Tianyin Temple were not in a hurry to leave. Although their attempt to annihilate the Ghost King Sect had failed, it had exhausted them. So they decided to rest at Qingyun Gate for a while before setting off again.

Lin Yi didn't urge him. He followed Tian Buyi to the front of a courtyard. A pretty little girl, about eight or nine years old, wearing a red dress, ran out of the gate and rushed towards Tian Buyi, shouting, "Daddy, you're back!"

"I'm back." Tian Buyi picked up the little girl, laughed heartily, and then introduced her to Lin Yi: "This is my little girl, Ling'er."

He put the little girl down and said, "Ling'er, this is your Uncle Lin. Say hello to him."

Tian Ling'er raised her head, her bright eyes sparkling and full of life, making her incredibly endearing. She opened her little mouth and said, "Hello, Uncle Lin."

Lin Yi reached out and patted Tian Ling'er's head, then took out a jade bottle, handed it to Tian Ling'er, and said, "Uncle is giving you one. You can eat it when you grow up."

Tian Ling'er was a little confused as to why she had to wait until she grew up to eat it.

Tian Buyi took the jade bottle from his daughter's hand, and after opening it, a medicinal fragrance immediately wafted out.

Tian Buyi immediately closed the bottle cap and declined, saying, "This gift is too precious; please take it back, Fellow Daoist Lin."

Lin Yi waved his hand and said, "It's nothing, it's just a 'Qian Yuan Bone-Changing Pill'."

Over the years, the Xuan Yao Daoist has stayed in the Myriad Transformations Thunder Cauldron, refining many ingenious and bizarre pills.

Lin Yi simply picked the most ordinary one from among them.

Chapter 109 Reincarnation in the Underworld

Qingyun Mountain stretches for hundreds of miles, with undulating peaks, dense forests, waterfalls, and strange rocks. Its scenery is secluded, dangerous, and magnificent, making it famous throughout the world.

Lin Yi stepped into the morning light, taking in the beautiful scenery of Dazhu Peak. Vast swathes of black bamboo swayed in the mountain breeze, rustling softly. Gazing towards Tongtian Peak, he saw the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation, hailed as the number one killing formation in this realm, guarding the area. He wondered what it would look like when truly unleashed.

"I'll have the chance to see it in the future," Lin Yi thought to himself.

Three days later, the Supreme Ship set off again, flying over thousands of mountains and rivers before arriving at Mount Sumeru, where Tianyin Temple is located.

Lin Yi landed the Supreme Boat at the foot of the mountain. After the people from Tianyin Temple disembarked, Puzhi put his palms together, chanted a Buddhist prayer, and said, "Thank you very much, Benefactor Lin."

Lin Yi put away the Supreme Boat, waved his hand, and said with a smile, "It's a trivial matter, not worth mentioning. On the contrary, I have something to discuss with the Venerable Pude of your temple. Please introduce me, Venerable Master."

Upon hearing this, Puzhi looked troubled and said, "Benefactor Lin, you may not know this, but my senior brother Pude has been devoted to the study of 'bitter Zen' all these years and has not seen any outsiders. We must inform the abbot of Bisi Temple and obtain his permission first."

Lin Yi frowned slightly and said, "Then I'll have to trouble you, sir."

“Please follow me, Benefactor Lin,” Puzhi said.

Afterwards, Lin Yi followed Puzhi up Mount Sumeru. Unlike the Qingyun Sect, which was secluded deep in the mountains, and the Fenxiang Valley, which was hidden away in the southern border, Tianyin Temple was just like an ordinary temple in the mortal world, open to countless ordinary people to burn incense and worship Buddha.

Today is the first day of the lunar calendar, and countless people are holding incense sticks, kneeling and worshipping Buddha. The steps, squares, inside and outside the temples are filled with an unimaginable abundance of incense offerings.

As Puzhi walked, he explained, “In the past, Bisi Temple, like other sects such as Qingyun Sect, was not open to the secular world. Later, after Senior Brother Puhong took over as abbot, he comprehended Buddhist principles, made a great vow, and believed that the Buddha is the Buddha of all sentient beings, not the Buddha of one person or one sect. So he decided to open the temple gates to accept the people.”

“Master Puhong is compassionate and admirable,” Lin Yi said.

By this time, everyone else had dispersed, and only Puzhi led Lin Yi to continue towards the mountaintop.

High atop Mount Sumeru lies a three-courtyard complex, a place where eminent monks of Tianyin Temple retreated from worldly troubles to focus on their spiritual practice. Hence, it is also known as "Little Tianyin Temple."
