Chapter 10

Xiaxia misses you so much.

"I miss Xiaxia too."

Wei Yutang picked Xiaxia up with one hand. Xiaxia subconsciously struggled a couple of times, wanting to see what her father had bought for her this time.

"I think you'll like these building blocks."

Just then, Chu Qing finished cooking and brought out the dishes one by one.

At this moment, no matter how much Xiaxia missed her father whom she hadn't seen for a long time, she struggled back to the ground and took out a bowl to help serve the rice.

Incidentally, as Chu Qing went to the kitchen, he glanced at his father.

They come here to freeload without any manners, not even as sensible as Xiaxia.

While they sat down to eat, Chu Qing took care of Xia Xia the whole time, while Wei Yutang kept watching Chu Qing without him even realizing it.

After not seeing her for a while, Chu Qing's dark circles had faded considerably. Her hair had grown a bit long, probably because she hadn't had time to go to the hair salon yet, and stray hairs could cover her eyes when she looked down.

This time, she was wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt, and the hand holding the black chopsticks was a cold white. Wei Yutang's gaze lingered on Chu Qing's empty fingers.

After regaining his senses, his Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and he picked up the water glass beside him and took a sip.

Xia Xia really enjoyed eating cola chicken wings for the first time, and his mouth was covered in sauce. This time, Wei Yutang offered to take a tissue to wipe it off for him.

Chu Qing was looking down, trying to pull out a tissue from the table based on her memory. When their hands accidentally touched, they both subconsciously focused their attention on each other.

Xiaxia was very clever. She quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe her mouth and then took her father's hand back.

After doing all this, she would then give her father a fierce glare.

That stinky father, don't even think about trying to steal his family's precious daughter.

"There's something keeping me busy at the company, and I'm currently on a business trip abroad."

Wei Yutang suddenly spoke up to explain, but Chu Qing nodded without taking it to heart, and didn't quite understand his intention when he said that.

"Xiaxia told me you recently found a job?"

"Um."

Chu Qing's attitude was somewhat cold, and Wei Yutang was not usually a very talkative person. Unable to find a topic to continue the conversation, he brought up Xia Xia again.

"Have you chosen a kindergarten for Xiaxia?"

"I asked the landlord, and he said I could sign up. It's nearby, just a short walk away."

Chu Qing became noticeably more enthusiastic about things related to Xia Xia, probably because of Wei Yutang's identity as Xia Xia's father.

Wei Yutang picked up a piece of food, took a bite, and after a brief moment of thought while chewing, said:

“I have an empty villa in Area A. I don’t usually go there. There’s a nice bilingual kindergarten nearby. How about you and Xiaxia move there together? There’s no rent, and you’ll have a nanny to take care of you.”

Wei Yutang felt that the place they lived in before was a bit small, let alone the place they were in now.

Next to the dining area is Xiaxia's desk, which, no matter how neatly it's arranged, still looks somewhat messy.

"Thank you, Mr. Wei, but no, this place is fine."

After Chu Qing finished speaking, he glanced at Xia Xia. The little guy, who had been focused on eating cola chicken wings, had now perked up his little ears to listen to gossip and was staring at them intently.

Xia Xia's previous behavior made Chu Qing not too worried that what she was about to say would hurt his fragile little heart.

"Furthermore, Mr. Wei, given our current identities, it's not appropriate for us to have too much contact. If you were to seek a wife in the future, these matters could easily lead to misunderstandings."

Xiaxia, standing to the side, nodded her fluffy head like a chick pecking at rice. Under his daily guidance, she finally managed to mold her father into someone who shared her ideas.

An old man like my father with facial paralysis, whoever wants him can have him, but he won't let his own father have him.

He wants to be his dad's sweet little darling and find the best for his dad!

Author's Note:

Wei Yutang: ...

I completely forgot to mention it was a double first love story! Personally, I prefer the main character who is unique in both body and soul, mwah!

Does the new cover look good? Goodnight, my darlings~

Chapter 9

Chu Qing's words were already very tactful; what he really wanted to say was that Xia Xia could raise herself, and it was best for them not to have too much contact.

Put yourself in his shoes. If he knew that his partner was treating someone he had no relationship with like this, he would feel extremely resentful.

Furthermore, Chu Qing didn't want to be burdened with a reputation that might have ruined someone else's relationship for no reason.

There are quite a few people with obsessive personalities like the original owner. Possessiveness in relationships can even drive a rational person crazy.

Wei Yutang could understand Chu Qing's implied meaning, but when he didn't know how to answer, he could only avoid Chu Qing's gaze, and his eyes naturally fell on Xia Xia, who was nodding.

An inappropriate thought came to his mind: something Feng You had once told him—that all children yearn for a complete family.

Xiaxia didn't say she longed for it; he wished he could kick her out immediately, leaving no room for her.

"I will seriously consider this matter."

Having thought about it for a long time without finding a clue, Wei Yutang, fearing that Chu Qing would wait too long, gave a vague answer first.

"good."

The rest of the meal was very quiet. Wei Yutang didn't mention asking them to move over again, and left after finishing the meal.

There's no air conditioning here right now, and it's unbearably hot in the middle of summer. Xiaxia is fanning her dad with her little fan.

While Dad was washing the dishes, I secretly deducted fifty points from his father's score in my mind. Running away after eating is not like being a good boyfriend at all!

A week before kindergarten started, Chu Qing and Xi picked Xiaxia up from daycare after work. On the way, they bought some fresh vegetables and a fish to celebrate that their rented apartment finally had air conditioning.

It was almost 11 p.m. when Chu Qing, who had just finished washing their clothes and doing some housework, was about to go to sleep when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

It was really late, so he looked out through the peephole first. The tall man standing outside the door was Wei Yutang.

Although Chu Qing was puzzled as to why he was here at this hour, she opened the door out of consideration for him being Xia Xia's father.

As soon as the door opened, Wei Yutang fell towards Chu Qing, who instinctively caught him.

As soon as they met, Chu Qing smelled the pungent odor of alcohol on him, which made her frown.

Wei Yutang was tall and heavy, and he almost crushed Chu Qing.

Where is your assistant?

After asking that question, Chu Qing didn't hear Wei Yutang's reply for a long time, so she could only move him into the room and turn around to close the door.

He let Wei Yutang sit on the single sofa that he had recently bought, and went to the kitchen to pour him a glass of honey water and put it on the coffee table.

He turned and went to the balcony, where he called Wei Yutang's assistant, whom the original owner had saved. He didn't know if it was because it was too late, but no one answered after three calls.

Chu Qing couldn't get a single answer from Wei Yutang, and since he was getting sleepy, he decided to let him spend the night there.

Fortunately, it was summer. He let Wei Yutang lie on the big bed in his bedroom and reached out to pick up Xiaxia, who was sleeping on the side.

Wei Yutang was too tall, and Xiaxia's small bed was obviously not suitable, so he had to sleep here while he took Xiaxia to the small room.

Unexpectedly, Xiaxia was unwilling to leave after falling asleep. She hugged her blanket tightly and stubbornly kept a straight face even in her sleep. In the end, she even kicked her leg in anger.

It was so late that Chu Qing was so sleepy that she could barely keep her eyes open. She had to get up early for work the next day, so she left Xia Xia there.

Exhausted, Chu Qing forgot to set an alarm. When she woke up, she realized she was about to be late. She gently pushed open the door to the next room and peeked in. Xia Xia was still asleep.

I tidied myself up, grabbed my things, and left, leaving the keys at home.

After getting on the subway to the company, she took out her phone and sent a message to Wei Yutang, asking him to help take care of Xiaxia or send her to daycare after she woke up.

If it weren't for his boss repeatedly emphasizing the importance of today's meeting before he left work yesterday, and the fact that most of the design drafts were drawn by Chu Qing himself, he would have even considered asking for leave.

In the original owner's memory, Wei Yutang had no experience in taking care of children, but Chu Qing thought that Xia Xia was so easy to take care of, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Upon arriving at the company, her boss announced that there would be a meeting, and Chu Qing was in the habit of putting her phone on Do Not Disturb mode during meetings.

Inside the rented room, Wei Yutang was awakened by a burst of crying. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Xia Xia with her mouth wide open, wailing loudly.

After waking up, Xiaxia wanted to snuggle into her father's arms as usual, and it would be just right to stay in bed for a while before getting up.

I didn't expect that today, as soon as I ducked my head over there, instead of smelling my dad's usual sweet scent, I was immediately jolted awake by the stench, and all the grogginess from just waking up was gone.

Looking closely, I realized my father was gone; instead, my annoying father was there.

In that instant, Xiaxia thought of many things. In the end, the thought of her father stealing her away while he was sleeping, and the idea of him holding her and not letting go even though she was smelly, took over.

Unable to think of any good solutions, Xiaxia chose to cry.

The more he cried, the sadder he became. How could Xiaxia's father live without her?

After crying for a while, she realized that the surrounding environment was still familiar, so she started to imagine that her father had driven her father away.

The crying grew louder and louder until it woke Wei Yutang up.

The next morning, after a hangover, Wei Yutang had just sat up when a sharp headache hit him, and Xia Xia's incessant crying only made things worse.

After finally regaining my senses, I wanted to reach out and wipe away Xiaxia's tears.

Xiaxia seemed to have seen some kind of monstrous flood, and quickly moved backward, then successfully fell off the bed with a thud.

"Wow!!!"

"Whoa!!"

Wei Yutang rushed over and picked Xiaxia up. Xiaxia, who was hurt from the fall, didn't care about her smelly father and just kept crying.

Xia Xia's precociousness and intelligence led to his overly sensitive nature.

For such a long time, he had been inseparable from his father almost every day, and he could see his dear father as soon as he opened his eyes. This was the first time he had discovered that his father was missing.

The anxiety of being abandoned by his father, coupled with his dislike for his father, created a double dose of negative emotions that made him cry until he was sobbing.

"Xiaxia, did you hurt yourself somewhere?"

Every time Wei Yutang called his name, Xia Xia would angrily clench her little fist and punch him hard, hitting him every time she called out his name.

Even when Wei Yutang stopped shouting, it didn't stop Xia Xia from occasionally throwing a punch in anger.

"Where's my dad? Did you kick Xiaxia's dad out?"
