Zhan Chun - Chapter 38
She's an enigma, a rare find in this chaotic world where she lives so nimbly and freely, like a gust of wind. She seems heartless, incapable of being harmed by anyone. Perhaps her heart is vast and expansive, and those petty grudges don't linger in her mind.
She is so contradictory, so interesting, and so captivating that you want to keep watching her and learn more about her.
Shu Jun suddenly grinned, a smile that was incredibly suggestive: "Xiao Ge, I think I'm liking you more and more, what should I do?"
Yichun looked at him intently and smiled, "I like you very much too, Shujun."
Shu Jun grasped her sticky hand, frowned, but still held back: "Let's be friends."
Yichun nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay."
Are they playing around? Yang Shen straightened the cup that had tilted to one side, his face very unpleasant: "Senior sister, it's getting late, let's go and not cause trouble for the host."
Yichun had no choice but to pull her hand back.
Shu Jun sighed softly, "Xiao Ge, since we're going to be friends, stay for a few days. I'll be sad if Yan Yufei kills you."
...Can this really be considered something a friend would say?
Yi Chun glanced at Yang Shen, but he turned his face away and said indifferently, "Senior sister, I'll go with you."
She looked around, scratched her head, and said, "Uh... it is indeed late now, and we don't know the waterways, so it wouldn't be good to trouble Little Pumpkin to row the boat. How about we stay here for the night and leave tomorrow?"
Yang Shen didn't turn around, his voice still indifferent: "Okay, whatever."
He must be angry.
During the meal, Yichun would glance at Yang Shen from time to time. He didn't seem to be acting strangely, and his expression remained normal, but she knew he was angry.
Shu Jun's eyes were brighter than usual, flashing with a chilling light. He kept putting food on her plate and urging her to eat, his enthusiasm catching her off guard.
The situation is very strange and baffling.
After dinner, Yichun squatted in front of the door with a teacup in hand, looking at the night view. Actually, there wasn't much to see. The scenery on the water could only be seen during the day; at night, it was just a dark, monotonous expanse.
But going in wasn't a good idea either; Yang Shen was angry, and she couldn't think of anything to say to him, so she decided to avoid him for now.
Footsteps sounded behind her. Yichun looked up listlessly and saw Yang Shen walking out.
Upon seeing her, he was taken aback at first, then his face darkened and he turned and walked in another direction.
"Sheep kidney—" she cried out quickly, jumping up to chase after him. But Shu Jun appeared out of nowhere, smiling as he tugged at her sleeve: "Little Ge, didn't you want to hear me play the sanxian? Let's go."
After saying that, he grabbed her and left in a gust of wind. Yi Chun hurriedly turned around and vaguely saw Yang Shen's thin back pause for a moment, but he did not turn around.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp, tingling pain in her heart, as if something had bitten her. She pulled her hand away from Shu Jun's, whispered an apology, and said she would listen next time. Then, she ran towards Yang Shen.
Shu Jun looked down at his empty hands and was somewhat stunned.
The little pumpkin, who had been hiding in the shadows watching the commotion, couldn't help but chuckle and peeked out from the tree shadows.
"Master got dumped!" He clapped and cheered obliviously from the side.
Shu Jun smiled and said, "...Nonsense."
It wasn't that he liked her; he was just looking for some amusement when he was bored. But now his hand was empty and bare, and he suddenly felt a little cold. It was almost May.
He simply put his hands behind his back, leaned against the tree, and looked up at the sky.
The crescent moon, curved like a hook, unconsciously reminds me of her two vivid and beautiful eyebrows above her eyes.
Shu Jun stared at the little pumpkin for a long time, until it started to yawn, before whispering, "Little pumpkin, your master might be in trouble this time..."
Chapter Twenty-Three
When Yichun chased after him, she saw Yang Shen standing alone in the backyard with his arms crossed, his head down, seemingly looking at something on the ground.
She cleared her throat and slowly walked over: "Um... lamb kidneys, is dinner good?"
He didn't look up, and after a long pause, he finally answered in a muffled voice, "What are you doing here? Weren't you here to listen to him play the piano?"
He pronounced the words "playing the piano" very loudly, making it sound like he was "talking about love."
"This is really awkward," Yichun thought to herself.
She simply squatted down, picked up a dry twig, and started drawing lines on the ground, then fell silent. Yang Shen, arms crossed, heard the sound of the twig scraping against the soil. At first, he pretended not to hear, but after a while, he couldn't help himself and looked down. He saw that she had drawn a messy human face on the ground, with furrowed brows and bared teeth, looking quite ferocious.
"This is your face now." After finishing the drawing, she looked up with a smile. "Ugly, isn't it?"
Yang Shen said calmly, "I'm not as good-looking or approachable as others to begin with, thank you for reminding me again."
Yichun simply threw away the branch and dusted off her hands: "Why are you being so awkward?"
He turned and left.
“If you keep doing this, I’m going to get angry!” Yichun shouted from behind.
He acted as if he hadn't heard.
Yichun chased after him and grabbed his sleeve, but he suddenly attacked, using martial arts techniques to subdue her hands. Startled, she cried out, "Hey! You want to fight?!"
Yang Shen gripped her wrists tightly, as if they were in iron hoops, and she struggled several times but couldn't break free. Did she remember him being that strong?
"...You underestimate men. Just because you're good at martial arts, does that mean you're completely unguarded?" His voice was cold. "Friends? If you want to be friends, can you be sure that others will also be friends with you?"
"I'm really angry!" Yi Chun raised her eyebrows and hooked her leg, trying to trip him, but after hooking his leg twice, he didn't budge. Instead, he bent his knee and bumped it against her leg bone.
She was in so much pain that she couldn't stand steadily and stumbled forward. Yang Shen took the opportunity to grab her and fall backward, then rolled over and pinned her down.
