Blood-sucking fangs - Chapter 18

Chapter 18

She looked at him suspiciously: "You seem quite robust, so how come you're so weak? You can't stay in the sun for long periods of time, you wouldn't be..."

"What could it be?" he asked quickly, almost jumping up.

"Could it be that he's allergic to sunlight?"

"Huh? Heh..."

"Why are you so nervous? This isn't the Middle Ages anymore. Do you think they'd burn you alive like a vampire?" The girl rolled her eyes.

"Yes, yes," he forced a smile, "maybe, maybe I really am a little allergic to sunlight, but it's not too serious."

"I don't care how serious it is." The girl reached into her pocket, only to realize she was out of cigarettes. She irritably ruffled her hair. "Whether you live or die is none of my business, as long as you..." She suddenly jumped up and screamed.

"What's wrong?"

"The Big Head Snake's car!"

"kindness?"

“That car we borrowed last night, damn it! Damn it! I actually forgot it at the police station! Big Head Snake must be frantic.” She tapped her forehead and said righteously, “Go and get it back.”

"I?"

"What do you mean, 'me'? Of course, you should go ask for it. That guy surnamed Zhou treats you better than his own father these days. You'll definitely have no problem asking for it."

"Okay, sure." He glanced at the sunlight outside, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "How about this, we'll take a taxi together. You wait for me outside the police station. Once we get the car, we can return it directly to your friend."

"Let's go." The girl pouted. "But don't forget to bring something for Da Tou Wen. I promised him yesterday."

After paying the bill, the two took a taxi to the police station and, just as Siwen had said, got the car back without any trouble.

However, when returning the car, I couldn't help but get a lecture from the big-headed snake.

"Alright, alright, eat your pizza. I specially went to Zhongshan Road to buy it."

Big-Headed Snake picked up a piece and stuffed it into his mouth, muttering, "I didn't eat dinner yesterday because I was waiting for your midnight snack. I didn't go to sleep until three o'clock. Luckily, that guy hasn't come to pick up his car yet, or it would have been troublesome."

"Speaking of cars, I asked you to help me find one, you haven't forgotten, have you?"

"How could I forget what you, Miss? Look, that car by the wall is it."

Siwen walked over and examined the motorcycle in front of her. The paint was peeling and the design was outdated. At first glance, it really should have been replaced. However, as an expert, she certainly wouldn't just look at these appearances. She looked from the exhaust pipe all the way to the fuel tank, and finally let out a long sigh: "Wow, Big Head, you can even dig out such a treasure."

“That’s right.” He shook his big head and said proudly, “The R12’s speed has always been unbeatable. This bike has been improved. Although it looks worn on the outside, it uses the most precious parts inside. Even if it can’t compare to Linda’s custom Harley, it’s not far off. But this bike is not easy to ride. Only you would dare to lend it to anyone else. You should take it away and get familiar with it.”

"Okay." The girl tossed him a cigarette, smiled, and didn't explain that she wasn't driving the car. "Coming tonight?"

"Of course, how could I not be there for something like this?"

"Okay, see you tonight."

The two pushed the car out, but the girl wasn't in a hurry to let Feng Nian'en get familiar with it. Instead, she found a restaurant and ordered a few dishes.

"Don't you want to test drive the car?" he asked, seeing her slowly chewing the cucumber.

"I'm not in a hurry, why are you?" She glanced at the bright sunshine outside. "What, don't you want to treat us?"

"No, of course not." Feng Nian'en also glanced out the window and smiled gratefully at the girl.

She turned her face away: "Don't get me wrong, I don't care if you're afraid of the sun or not. I'm just hungry and want to take advantage of you."

"Yes, I know." He lowered his head, smiled slightly, and suddenly felt that everything in this world was so lovely.

The two ate until 5 p.m. When they left the restaurant, the sunset in the west was as bright as a red-hot iron.

"Let's go. The Moonlit Clan's activities are always after 10 PM. We still have five hours."

As a novice, Feng Nian'en's progress can be described as rapid. However, with his current abilities, it would be too much of a stretch for him to drive the modified R12 heavy motorcycle.

"I think the one from yesterday might have been better," he said apologetically, glancing at the now completely dark night sky.

The girl shook her head: "That vehicle wouldn't even qualify for the competition in the Moonlit Clan unless it's modified first. Let's try our luck. If you win the first two events, you won't need to compete in this third one."

"Drinking before racing?" Feng Nian'en was taken aback. "Isn't that too dangerous?"

“Fool, that’s the danger. Drinking and then speeding, that feeling…” She stretched out her arms, closed her eyes, as if intoxicated, “It feels like flying, a free flight. But,” she opened her eyes and shrugged, “there’s no rule that you have to drink before racing, it’s just that everyone’s used to drinking first and then racing.”

"Is that Jersey guy really that good?" He knew it was a stupid question; if he weren't capable, the other party wouldn't have recommended him.

"His speed is probably between sixth and seventh, but his drinking capacity and wrist strength are second only to Suzaku and Pemon. What, scared?"

Feng Nian'en shook her head: "I have nothing to be afraid of. It's just that... what if you lose, wouldn't that mean..."

"Lose?" Si Wen shrugged. "I never thought I would lose."

"Well?"

“I believe you,” she said, looking directly at his pale face with a slightly mocking smile. “I don’t believe you will disappoint me.”

"Huh? Ah..."

Feng Nian'en looked at her, and even though he tried his best to tell himself that she was just joking and teasing him, his face still turned red involuntarily.

Seeing the expected expression, she laughed without restraint.

"Let's go, it's almost time. You can lead the way for me."

The girl jumped into the car and hugged his waist without hesitation. Her soft body pressed tightly against his back, and Feng Nian'en froze in place.

“Come on, you idiot, let’s go to Anfeng Road.” She patted him on the shoulder.

"well……"

He didn't know how he got here. It was like a strange dream. He never imagined he'd have anything to do with a girl like Siwen. His world had always been orderly and disciplined. But now, his orderly life had been disrupted by an unexpected event. Even more unbelievable was that he had become friends with a rebellious girl. And now, she was right behind him, her body pressed tightly against his, as they sped along on the same motorcycle in the night wind.

A cool breeze, a faint scent of tobacco, a soft body… He suddenly felt a sense of freedom, a feeling of flying, the freedom of flight…

The car was moving slowly, weaving through the streets at a steady pace. Finally, it came to a somewhat deserted and narrow road. Following the girl's directions, Feng Nian'en parked the car near an underground bar, and then they went through the wooden door painted with skulls.

Although it was a bar, the environment here was completely unfamiliar to him. It was a strange world, filled with a pungent stench, shrouded in smoke, dimly lit, and a boy wearing almost nothing but shorts was hoarsely shouting something into a microphone that kept malfunctioning. He was twisting his body energetically, but there was hardly any audience. The men and women in the room were all having their own fun, shouting, laughing, teasing each other, and even hugging and caressing in public. But the boy didn't seem to care about any of that, continuing to shout something in his hoarse voice.

"Hey, Ziguang!" the boy shouted, holding the microphone.

The noise in the bar subsided for a moment, and everyone turned to look at them.

"Hey, Mike!" The girl waved her hand dismissively. "You can continue."

The boy twisted his body and cried out again, and the crowd resumed their noisy chatter. However, several other people were already walking towards them.

"I didn't expect you to actually dare to come." The leading girl's face was full of arrogance.

"Aunt Linda is giving me a car, how can I not go?" Si Wen smiled happily, as if he already had the car.

"He does have a car, but I'm afraid this pretty boy doesn't have the ability to get one!" She glanced at Feng Nian'en disdainfully and let out two snorts that sounded like she couldn't breathe.

"Auntie doesn't need to worry about that. But I wonder if Auntie has asked a middleman yet?"

“Do I need to invite him? Aman is right here.” She patted the young man beside her. “Where’s your middleman?”

“Mine,” the girl suddenly shouted after taking a drag of her cigarette, “Mike… I made a bet with Linda, can you be my middleman?”

"Okay..." The roar echoed like thunder through the microphone, followed by the boy's return to his own world.

"Alright, we have a middleman, we can begin." The girl snapped her fingers, indicating that the problem was solved.

"No way!" Linda jumped up. "That guy can't do anything but scream. If you stand him up, he won't be able to afford anything!"

“According to the rules, anyone from the Moonlit Clan is eligible. Don’t you remember, Auntie?” She smiled, her eyes half-closed. “Or… do you want to break the rules set by Suzaku?”

"You!" Linda glared at her through gritted teeth. "Anyway, Mike won't do! I absolutely refuse to let him be the middleman! Absolutely not!"

"So you're saying Auntie's going to give up?" The girl spread her hands innocently. "I'll feel uneasy if you just drive Auntie's car back like that..."

"Nonsense! I just said Mike is no good! Mike is no good! That kid has nothing, what am I supposed to ask him for if you lose?"

"Ah... doesn't he still have a pair of shorts?" As soon as these words were spoken, the crowd that had been drawn by the argument burst into laughter.

"You! You did this on purpose." As if she had finally caught something red-handed, Linda revealed a sly smile. "You did this on purpose because you knew this pretty boy couldn't win."

“Perhaps.” The girl took two steps forward and lowered her voice, “But maybe it’s because I know I’m going to win, so it doesn’t matter who the middleman is. Right now… it’s your aunt who’s afraid, otherwise why wouldn’t you agree?”

“Don’t try to provoke me,” Linda clenched her fists. “I will not agree to this no matter what.”

"But what if I insist on having Mike? Is Auntie prepared to give up?"

"You...you!..."

"I'll be the middleman for Ziguang." The voice was lazy, but it carried a chilling aura. Apart from Mike's hoarse shouts that rose and fell, all other sounds disappeared, and everyone looked over at the same time.

“I’ll act as the middleman for Ziguang. Linda should agree, right?”

The man's figure gradually became visible through the smoke.

It was a face of sinister beauty, with long silver hair and pale gold eyes that gleamed strangely in the dim light. He was very tall, draped in a black cloak, and his gait, like his voice, gave off a languid feeling, yet carried an eerie lightness.

As the other person approached, Feng Nian'en unconsciously clenched his fists. The pale, almost sickly skin, the ghostly gait, and the call from within—even without introduction, he knew the other person's identity: a vampire!

"Suzuka?!" the girl exclaimed.

"Is it okay, Linda? Am I qualified?" The man smiled slightly as he looked at the girl with her hair dyed gold-red.

Linda blushed. "Of course... of course you can." She nodded vigorously, but then her expression turned panicked as if she had suddenly remembered something.

"Alright, now that the problem is solved, let's begin." The man nodded, sat down in the seat next to them, and looked at everyone with indifference.

"Wine! Wine! Wine, wine, wine!"

The people inside the room started shouting rhythmically. Suzaku's appearance turned what was originally an ordinary bet into a rare competition, and the bar, which had been quiet, became noisy again.

"Hey! Who's comparing whom? Linda and Ziguang?" someone asked loudly.

"No, it's Jersey and that new kid. The new kid beat Ziguang and got Linda's treasure, and Jersey beat Ziguang and is going to leave the Moonlit Clan!" another person shouted.

"What? Ziguang is withdrawing?"

"Idiot! Didn't you see that even Suzaku had to act as that kid's middleman? That kid is definitely not simple!"

"But his opponent is Jersey."

"Would Suzuka act as an intermediary for someone who's going to lose? I'm betting on Ziguang to win!"

"I'll buy Tsinghua Unigroup too!"

"Jersey should be pretty strong, but... I'll buy Tsinghua Unigroup too..."
