Chapter 2

"What's wrong?"

"Stop asking, hurry up... come over here quickly, and also call Da Kai and the others to come together."

"I understand, but it seems Li Xu has gone out."

"It's okay, you three come here, and be quick." Yang Mian felt that the door might be opened at any moment.

"Okay, you wait." The person on the other end of the phone hung up as soon as they finished speaking.

The room fell silent again. Yang Mian put down the phone, sat on the bed, leaned against the wall, and stared at the door and window. After a while, he kept looking around, feeling unsafe. "Brother Gu Xing, Brother Da Kai and the others are here," his sister said softly, as if afraid of waking Yang Mian.

After he finished speaking, he pressed his ear to the door. He heard the footsteps walk away until they stopped at the front door. He then carefully opened a small door and saw that the TV in the living room was on, all the lights were on, and the dining table had been cleared. He couldn't see his parents or himself. He only saw his sister standing on one side of the living room, chatting and laughing with Gu Xing, Da Kai, Zhang Da, and a few others.

Suddenly, Yang Mian was so weak he almost knelt down; he felt like he was about to collapse. He shouted at Gu Xing and the others, "Come in quickly!"

After exchanging a few more words with Yang Yi, Gu Xing and his group came over. Yang Mian, with his weak legs, struggled to stand up, and with trembling hands, opened the door. Once Gu Xing and the others entered the room, he quickly closed the door again.

Gu Xing asked curiously, "What's wrong with you?"

Yang Mian finally couldn't hold back anymore, plopped down on the ground, and burst into tears, saying between sobs, "This is too much! You could have just killed me, but you didn't have to scare me like this... Waaah..."
