Perverted Supernatural Academy - Chapter 8

Chapter 8

For the students of Byte Paranormal Academy, every day at this school brings new "surprises".

For example, Byte doesn't have morning exercises or early classes, and the students studying paranormal phenomena are used to going to bed late and waking up late (because in all paranormal schools, everyone's internships, observations, and practice are at night), and they basically don't have the habit of eating breakfast. Therefore, many people get up quite late every morning to go to class, specifically waiting until it's almost time to start.

Unfortunately, there are always people who can't stand seeing poor people living well. One painful morning, just as the clock struck six, a dozen figures silently and swiftly scurried to the roof of the dormitory building, plugged their ears with powerful earplugs, grabbed the clock rope, and began to shake it wildly.

Ding-ding ...

Each clock is like a thunderclap; when a dozen or so are combined, they create a torrent of sound that can scare the living to death and the dead back to life.

Except for room 313 opposite Lou Lifan and his group, all the freshmen jumped out of bed like cats whose tails had been stepped on at the sound of the terrifying bell, rushing out of the door in a panic and asking everywhere: "What? What? What happened!? Is it a ghostly disturbance? A monster invasion!?"

Pei Linhai and Lou Lifan also jumped out of bed in a daze, opened the door and exchanged information with their neighbors.

"What exactly happened?"

"I don't know!"

"Such a loud bell..."

"Could something really serious have happened?"

In the noisy hallway, besides the students asking each other questions, there were tiny specks of light emitting a fluorescent green glow, but the hallway was too brightly lit, and you couldn't notice them unless you looked closely.

"Ohh ...

The characteristic laughter of a certain pervert rang in everyone's ears, and everyone's face darkened.

"Dear students! It's already six o'clock. I, the principal, am truly reluctant to ask you to get out of your warm beds... Oh, hehehehe... But early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. Please join me in doing morning exercises! Three punches to the left, three punches to the right, twist your neck, wiggle your hips..."

The hallway was filled with shouts and curses. After realizing that nothing had actually happened and that the pervert was just trying to mess with them again, everyone retreated back to their rooms, cursing and swearing, and set up dozens of barriers around their rooms to deal with the "spell," before going back to sleep.

Lou Lifan returned to his room and placed hand seals on all the doors, walls, and windows, snarling, "...That pervert again! Damn it! Don't let me catch you next time! Otherwise..."

Pei Linhai lay back on the bed, still seething with anger: "I really want to beat him up..."

"That's impossible. He should be somewhere quite far away from us right now. Because I can't sense his presence."

"Is it a transmission from an apostle?"

"right."

The tiny specks of light floating in the hallway are the "Apostles." After burning the incantation spell of the communication talisman, which is filled with spiritual power, you can use wind magic to blow it to the desired location. It will then naturally turn into a glowing green speck, spreading the caster's voice like tiny megaphones. Once the task is completed, it will turn to ashes and disappear. Of course, occasionally people use it as a small megaphone, but using it as a tool to wake people up like this... is something I've never seen before.

Although the room was sealed and so quiet you could hear a pin drop, only an idiot could fall back asleep after being woken up by such noise!

Lou Lifan and Pei Linhai were certainly not idiots, so all they could do was stare at the ceiling in the eerily quiet room, scrutinizing the speed at which the spiders were spinning their webs.

"Hey...are you asleep...?"

"No……"

"..."

There are still two hours before class, and washing up will only take half an hour. So what should they do in the remaining hour and a half? Since getting involved with the paranormal school, their habits as ordinary people have changed drastically. They simply don't know how to pass the time like this.

"By the way, do you have the class schedule with you?" Lou Lifan asked. "Let me see what classes I have today."

Pei Linhai got up and started groping around on his bedside table... until he pulled out a thick stack of forms.

"Hmm... The first two periods this morning are on the general theory of the paranormal, on the 57th floor, taught by Professor Yuan Ni... Yuan Ni!?"

"What's wrong?"

Pei Linhai's face twisted into a strange expression: "Yuanni... that ghost in the maze... also called herself Yuanni..."

Lou Lifan said with little interest, "Maybe they just have the same name."

Pei Linhai shook his head vigorously: "Impossible! The surname Yuan is very rare. How could it be such a coincidence that there's a teacher with this name? Given the school's twisted reasoning..."

Lou Lifan slowly sat up, resting his chin on his hand, and said slowly, "Maybe...it's possible..."

Even if that teacher really was one of the ghost-sucking groups in the maze, they wouldn't find it strange. There are many ways to make ghosts come out during the day, and it's not difficult for that perverted principal. So they decided to be careful when taking this teacher's class, and not to be caught off guard and eaten in some corner...

"I think that ghost seems to like you quite a bit, she actually used that kind of method to seduce you..." Lou Lifan said, his eyes filled with a merciless mocking smile. "Be careful, she might come looking for you first."

Pei Linhai frantically flipped to the last page of the class schedule, a throbbing vein on his forehead: "No... wait! That 'ghost-devouring' character is a man! But the introduction here says Professor Yuan Ni is a woman! And she's 72 years old!! So it's definitely not her!!!"

Lou Lifan was slightly surprised: "Oh? A man? How did you know?"

Because of... that punch to the chest...

The innocent Pei Linhai blushed.

Lou Lifan covered his face, suppressing the urge to call him an idiot, and said, "Even if it says here that she's a woman, you can't be sure she really is; even if it says here that she's 72 years old, you can't be sure her face really looks like a 72-year-old! What kind of place is this? A paranormal academy led by a pervert! A place where the gates of hell are located! It's not strange at all to have a 72-year-old ghost-sucking person lecturing you on the general principles of the paranormal. Be more vigilant, and don't let the day come when I find that only your spirit has followed me back, I'll definitely go ballistic! Remember that!"

In short, as I said before, it would be the greatest humiliation of Lou Lifan's life to let his roommate be eaten by a ghost within his own defenses. At that time, Pei Linhai's spirit would definitely not have a good life. He might even be made into a ghost and thrown into the sewer after being used!

Lou Lifan's experience was indeed far superior to Pei Linhai's. When the time came, they climbed up to the 57th floor, panting, and sat in the classroom. Sure enough, the person who came in from outside with the lecture notes was—that girl, Yuan Ni.

She still had that same long, red hair that reached her waist, big eyes like a cartoon character, a petite figure, and androgynous attire, and looked innocent and naive.

After that lesson, Pei Linhai never dared to feel even the slightest bit of affection for any seemingly innocent person or other "creature". So while his classmates in the classroom were exclaiming in amazement at this 72-year-old beautiful "girl", he was sitting next to Lou Lifan, who had a blank expression on his face, dumbfounded.

“Li Fan…it really is…it really is her…”

"I see it, my vision is 5.0."

"What...what should I do? I've killed at least four of them..."

"If she really wants revenge, it doesn't matter how many of her you kill. Besides, those are probably just clones, so it doesn't matter."

Due to their insatiable greed for food, the Devourer has many clones, and the one Pei Linhai encountered was likely that kind of situation. However, there is another possibility: that they are Devourers from the same family.

Unlike other ghosts that are formed from human spirits under various circumstances, ghosts that suck up energy are ghosts that exist in this world on their own, like mountain spirits and the like. No one knows where they come from. They have a strict family system and a concept of hierarchy. The higher the rank of the ghost that sucks up energy, the more beautiful it is. Ghosts that suck up energy of the same rank within the same family often look very similar. It can be said that their appearance is determined by their power.

However, since they are both named Yuani and look the same, and it's impossible for ghosts from the same family to have the same name, it can be inferred that those Yuani and this one are probably the main body and the clone of the same ghost...

With a pure and sweet smile, Juni walked onto the podium and placed her lecture notes on the lectern.

"Good morning, everyone! My name is Yuanni, and I'm your professor of Paranormal Theory. Starting today, we will begin learning the basics of all disciplines within paranormal studies. My plan is for 98 hours of lectures, with no practical sessions. Now, please open your handouts to the first page..."

As she spoke, her eyes scanned the entire classroom, but when she passed Pei Linhai, she didn't linger or show any unusual behavior; she just glanced at him briefly and moved on.

"The full name of the 'General Theory of the Paranormal' is the 'Comprehensive Discourse on the Paranormal Studies,' which explains all the basic terms and principles that will appear in the field of paranormal studies. You may have already gained a relatively systematic understanding of these in your past studies, but it's not all over. What I'm going to do is fill in the gaps in your understanding..."

Pei Linhai whispered to Lou Lifan, "It really doesn't seem to be her. Look at the way she looks at me..."

Lou Lifan snorted: "Just keep your vigilance. There are plenty of abnormal people in this school, don't use your normal half of your brain to think about problems."

Does that mean... we have to use the abnormal half of our brain to think...?

Pei Linhai earnestly began searching for the abnormal half of his mind, but after searching for a long time, it was all in vain. It seemed that he had not yet mastered Lou Lifan's superb "brain-splitting technique".

"Hey, you tall guy sitting in the third row from the back, could you answer the question I just asked you?" With a flawless smile, Yuan Ni ruthlessly called out to Pei Linhai, who was diligently practicing his divine skill.

Pei Linhai stood up blankly. Heaven knows he had been completely focused on whether this Yuanni was the same Yuanni; how could he possibly have listened to her question?

Lou Lifan muttered "idiot" in a very low voice, then whispered, "She was just..."

“That classmate!” Juni raised her voice, “I believe you won’t tell him the answer, right? I know we all need to build a spirit of unity and mutual assistance, but at this time, it’s better if you don’t help.”

Lou Lifan sighed and lowered his head to continue taking notes.

Pei Linhai, who was standing there, blushed. This was the first time in all these years that he, who had always been an excellent student, had been pulled up by the teacher to answer a question like this.

Seeing that he hadn't answered for so long, Yuan Ni gestured for him to come out and said, "Then please come out for a moment. I have a question for you. The other students, please wait a moment."

Lou Lifan frowned slightly, and without looking up, said to Pei Linhai, "Remember my words, or you'll get eaten."

"Hmm..." Pei Linhai responded nervously and followed her out the door.

Everyone in the classroom craned their necks, trying to hear what she wanted to say to Pei Linhai.

Yuan Ni walked out of the classroom first, stopped, and turned to face Pei Lin Hai.

"Excuse me, why aren't you listening to my lectures?" she asked with a gentle smile. "Is it because I'm not teaching well?"

"No...that's not how it is..."

"Hmm?" She moved closer to him and looked up at him.

This was originally a very ordinary action, but it suddenly reminded Pei Linhai of that day in the maze, when the terrifying Juni looked up at him innocently, and a scream almost pierced his throat. However, he was no longer a child, and he managed to cover his mouth and stumble back a few steps.

"You...you..."

"You seem afraid of me," Yuni said with a smile. "Do I look scary?"

He shook his head frantically.

When Vice Principal Paulina read out the school admission instructions, one of them was, "You must always respect your teachers and never disagree with their actions. If a teacher has an accident because of a student, that student will be suspended to the night shift for one month as punishment."

He wasn't afraid to fight the person in front of him; he might fear a group of girls, but he wasn't afraid of just one. However, with that inexplicable school rule… he didn't want to go back to that strange space to suffer again!

"You...you're actually afraid of me, aren't you?" She laughed, laughing so hard she bent over. "Hehehe...what a silly child! Did you really think I'd eat you up?"

Pei Linhai opened his eyes wide, suddenly realizing that the surrounding scenery was distorted and changing. He felt dizzy and involuntarily closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he was horrified to find himself back on the spiral staircase, facing the dozen or so girls. One of them was slumped against the railing, and several others had their heads blown off...

"I didn't originally intend to devour you completely..." the group of girls said in unison, "but you're so disappointing. You shouldn't have rejected me in such a rude way..."

They opened their mouths, which were full of tiny, sharp teeth, and smiled. Then they pounced on them all at once.

Pei Linhai shouted and retreated sharply, leaning against the railing behind him. He glanced down out of the corner of his eye and caught sight of that dark place.

Do I really have to jump again...?

Without time to think, he quickly placed both hands on the head of Yuan Ni, who was rushing towards him at the closest distance, gathering his strength to prepare for a strike.

However, at that moment, a sudden change occurred. A pair of hands reached out from behind and placed a swastika-shaped seal on the back of his head. Then, the same seals were placed on his neck, back, and waist.

"Wake up, you idiot!"

He shuddered, and the spiral staircase and the group of girls vanished in an instant. His hands were now pressed against Professor Juni's forehead, poised to strike.

He hurriedly released all his fighting spirit and spiritual energy, withdrawing his hands: "I...I'm sorry! Professor! I suddenly..."

"There's no need to apologize to her." The cold voice belonged to Lou Lifan.

He was the one who stopped his attack at the last second; otherwise, Pei Linhai would definitely have been put on the night shift.

"Huh?"

"Haven't you figured it out yet?" Lou Lifan said impatiently, "She's the one who gave you that hallucination, which is why you attacked her!"

"Huh? Why?"

What an idiot... Lou Lifan was too lazy to say anything more and turned around to go back to the classroom.

Juni covered her mouth and chuckled, "Really, I got caught! But it's not my fault. The principal said if he could put you or Lou Lifan on the night shift for a month as punishment, he'd give me double the bonus this month~ Hehehehehe..."
