Chapter 5

Shi Ling looked up and saw Chi Cheng standing by the door, chatting and laughing with a girl.

Hearing Zhang Yilin speak, Chi Cheng also looked over, and unexpectedly met Shi Ling's gaze.

Chi Cheng thought for a moment and then said, "It's a rare break, let's relax a bit."

Shi Ling put down her pen. "Okay."

Her agreement surprised the others.

"Really?"

Shi Ling had already stood up and shoved the stool back under the table.

Let's go.

The rain was indeed heavy, and everyone in the group rolled up their trousers, except for Shi Ling, who was wearing slippers.

Some people were wearing flip-flops and Crocs, so Shi Ling could only walk in areas where the water wasn't too deep.

When they arrived at the KTV, Shi Ling sat in a corner, and Zhang Yilin moved closer to her.

There were naturally several people between them and Chi Cheng.

In crowded karaoke rooms like these, unless you're a karaoke enthusiast, you won't be able to get many songs.

Shi Ling didn't request any songs; she just sat there playing on her phone and chatting with Zhang Yilin casually.

After a while, few people noticed that she had gone out.

Those who weren't supposed to sing suggested playing games.

While playing dice, someone suggested adding another rule: anyone who accidentally says a certain word will be punished.

"Okay, what word?"

"you?"

"It's too easy to say, doesn't it? It's like you're trying to get people to talk."

Fang Ze grinned mischievously, "How about the character '上'?"

"This is good, tsk tsk, Fang Ze is such a pervert."

When Shi Ling pushed the door open and came back, she attracted everyone's attention.

Because several people were gathered around playing dice, the entrance appeared deserted.

As soon as she returned, someone looked up and asked, "Shi Ling, why did you go out?"

Shi Ling turned around and closed the door. "I'm going to the restroom."

"Isn't it inside?"

"Oh, I didn't see it."

Most KTVs in Guangdong have restrooms, but the doors are usually closed, so people probably didn't notice them.

Just as she was about to sit down, someone noticed and said, "I told you to go!"

"Oh dear, Shi Ling, you're going to be punished."

Shi Ling was puzzled.

Zhang Yilin explained to her, "We just set up a little game. Anyone who accidentally says the word 'shang' will be punished, either by drinking three cups."

Shi Ling asked calmly, "What should be the punishment?"

She Jiaxing raised his hand, full of enthusiasm, "I'll ask the questions."

"OK."

Her eye makeup was heavy, making her look charming and delicate.

She looked at Shi Ling defiantly, "Kiss any of the boys here."

It was obvious that she disliked Shi Ling's arrogant attitude, which made her lose face.

After saying that, she patted Zhang Yilin on the shoulder across from someone else, "Don't say I didn't take care of you."

Zhang Yilin is a joker and doesn't care about being embarrassed. "Next time you punish me, I'll kiss one of the girls in the room."

The girls next to her all said in unison, "I love how beautiful you are."

"You're punished by having to dance with your ass."

A boy chimed in, "His butt is this big."

Everyone burst into laughter.

Amidst laughter, Shi Ling walked up to Chi Cheng, who was sitting by the karaoke machine.

Chi Cheng sat with his legs apart, and she plopped down on his lap, hooking her arms around his neck.

She said to him in a voice that everyone could hear, "May I borrow this?"

The onlookers were stunned for a moment, but seeing how relaxed Shi Ling was, they immediately started clapping and whistling.

Amidst the whistling, Shi Ling pressed her lips to his without hesitation.

Her breath carried a faint scent of menthol.

Chi Cheng then realized what she had been doing.

He probably went to smoke clumsily again.

When she got up, there was no trace of embarrassment on her face, as if she had just taken something from Chi Cheng.

I returned to my seat.

Chi Cheng rubbed his fingertips, still feeling the soft, slender touch of her waist from when he had just supported her. It was so delicate and could be easily held in one hand.

However, she left, leaving something on his leg.

It's her handbag.

Just as Chi Cheng touched his handbag, he caught a glimpse of Shi Ling's subtle expression out of the corner of his eye.

It turned out she did it on purpose; she sensed his reaction and left her bag to cover him.

Fortunately, her bag was black, so it wasn't noticeable when it was on his lap.

Chi Cheng licked his lips at her from an angle unseen by others, as a form of retaliation.

His earrings sparkled brilliantly under the KTV lights.

Once he had calmed down, he pretended to pass the bags back to her one by one.

Fang Ze asked Chi Cheng in a low voice, "You two are together?"

Chi Cheng didn't even blink. "It's nothing. He probably just doesn't want Zhang Yilin to take advantage of him."

"real?"

"I never exchange more than five sentences with her."

"That's true, an ice queen."

Fang Ze asked a question that many people were thinking.

However, regardless of whether they asked or not, they found that Shi Ling remained as aloof as ever, barely exchanging a single word with Chi Cheng.

The group consisted of people who had all traveled abroad and were generally easygoing; they assumed Shi Ling was just playing along.

Even the most eerie atmosphere can be dispelled by laughter and the sounds of games.

In particular, Zhang Yilin accidentally said the word "up," and what he asked was, "What are we having for dinner?"

He was punished by the crowd and made to dance with his buttocks.

He wasn't finished until he wrote the three words "I'm the most handsome".

No one mentions Shi Lingtong and Chi Cheng's passionate kiss anymore.

Chi Cheng was playing with them when a song started playing for a while, but no one sang it.

Someone asked, "Whose song is it? Nobody else is singing it, so I'm singing it."

Chi Cheng then looked up and saw that it was Eason Chan's version of Qingcheng.

He stopped what he was doing. "Mine."

He didn't order it, but he knew it was his.

Chi Cheng pressed the repeat button. To be honest, he hadn't sung this song in a long time.

If I hadn't seen Shi Ling's red eyes yesterday, I wouldn't have remembered it.

But he goes out a lot to have fun, so he's developed a fairly decent voice.

He was too lazy to get up, so he just sat lazily in his seat and sang.

“Red eyes gazed wistfully at this desolate city, like a forced smile.”

He noticed Shi Ling's gaze, met her eyes, and saw the ambiguous smile in her eyes.

It's obvious that the subtitles displayed on the screen are different from what he said yesterday.

He sang while looking down to send her WeChat messages.

CC: I'm not kidding you, you do look good with red eyes.

Shi Ling: Then forced a bitter smile?

Chi Cheng smiled, put away his phone, and focused on singing.

Legend has it that the tears of a devoted heart can move a city to tears.

The neon lights went out, and the world grew quieter.

Fireworks will fade, and music will stop.

This makes the ending of the story even more beautiful.

Chi Cheng leaned against the kitchen door and saw Zhao Yongbin and Shi Ling cooking inside.

This was their first Mid-Autumn Festival abroad. They didn't see that the moon in Britain was rounder than in China, but the mooncakes were more expensive.

Zhao Yongbin finally managed to buy the ice cream in the Chinese Super League.
