Chapter 57

After nearly two hours of conversation, the two parted ways, leaving the coffee on the table untouched.

-

Jiang Jianhuan didn't expect that when he went downstairs the next day, he would still see Su Mo there.

Her complexion didn't look so good.

"Is there something you need?" This time the two were quite far apart. Jiang Jianhuan looked at him warily, while Su Mo's eyes darkened and a smile appeared on his face.

Are you free today?

"Um?"

"Can you walk with me for a bit?"

"I..." Jiang Jianhuan hesitated for a few seconds, just about to refuse.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew in from somewhere. Even though it was almost noon, the wind still carried a slight chill. Su Mo suddenly covered her lips with her hand and coughed heavily twice. Her already pale face turned even paler.

"It'll only take up a little of your time... cough cough, it'll be over soon." He said between coughs, his trembling appearance in the wind, coupled with his pleading and pitiful tone, made Jiang Jianhuan feel her conscience was being tormented.

"Where are you going?" she asked hesitantly. Su Mo's eyes lit up slightly, and then she spoke cautiously.

"I haven't been back to school in a long time, and I want to go and take a look."

Jiang Jianhuan was stunned after hearing this. A voice in her heart told her to refuse, to refuse, but for some reason, she changed her mind before she could finish speaking.

"oh."

"Is it okay?" Su Mo asked cautiously again, her bright black eyes fixed on her. Jiang Jianhuan lowered her eyes, silently giving in.

"All right."

At the school gate, Jiang Jianhuan was certain that Su Mo had come prepared. Upon their arrival, Su Mo slowly pushed a bicycle out of the guardhouse, took out a baseball cap and glasses from his bag, and expertly put them on.

Today is Saturday, and there aren't many people on campus during the day. He dressed very casually, wearing a black top and trousers, and with his hat and glasses covering his face, he looked like an ordinary college student if you didn't look closely.

As soon as she entered the school gate, a familiar atmosphere rushed towards her, and a flood of memories mixed with unfamiliar emotions overwhelmed her.

Jiang Jianhuan couldn't help but stop and stand still.

"Want to come up?" Su Mo gestured to her while pushing the bike. The school was very large, and it was necessary to walk through this long tree-lined path to reach the central teaching building and other places.

She snapped out of her thoughts and sat on the back of Su Mo's bicycle.

As I pressed the pedal, the car moved forward at a steady speed. Through the tree trunks and branches, I could see the teaching building, basketball court, running track, canteen roof, and dormitory walls in the distance.

Everything remained unchanged, just like the person in front of me, frozen in time.

The bicycle rolled over a small puddle, leaving wet marks on the ground. The chain made a slight clicking sound, the tires tumbled, and finally, with a slightly screeching screech of brakes, the bicycle came to a stop.

Before me lies a lake, which actually has a beautiful name: Deer Lake. Legend has it that deer once inhabited this area, hence the name. However, over time, this area has been developed into a school, the forest has gradually disappeared, and humans have settled here.

At sunset, the lake is incredibly beautiful. The clean, smooth surface is tinged with a light red, and the surrounding flowers, trees, aquatic plants, and large rocks of various shapes are all bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun.

A cobblestone path meanders across the green grass beside you. Walking on it quietly is as pleasant as swaying leaves in the evening breeze.

More importantly, few people come here because it is off the main road and far from the teaching buildings and dormitories, located north of the school.

This is the first place where they met and started anew.

Jiang Jianhuan followed behind Su Mo, watching him walk onto the cobblestone path, and then stop again at a similar spot where she had been discovered and questioned years ago when she followed him.

"Do you know what I was thinking when I turned around?" Su Mo turned around and asked her. Jiang Jianhuan's mind was a little confused, and she stared at him blankly as she asked.

"What are you thinking about?"

"This girl is quite pretty, but she's a bit too infatuated. She's so blatantly stalking people at school."

"I didn't..." Jiang Jianhuan's face flushed, and she began to explain in a flustered manner.

"I saw you at the freshman orientation, and that's why I followed you."

Su Mo's smile deepened upon hearing this, becoming incredibly gentle, and he nodded slightly.

"Yes, I recognized you immediately too."

"Then why were you so mean to me..." Jiang Jianhuan's eyes widened as she questioned in surprise. She had always thought that Su Mo only remembered after she explained.

In the gentle midday sunlight, he lowered his head and touched his nose, looking somewhat embarrassed.

I was just trying to scare you.

Chapter 28

"Why are you following me?"

"I...I didn't, I also took this path."

The girl in front of me blushed, at a loss for what to do, her bright black eyes seemed to be filled with water, shy and flustered.

The delicate white ears peeking out from between the wisps of hair gradually turned a rosy red in the setting sun. A similar scene flashed through Su Mo's mind, and the two faces overlapped in front of him.

It's her.

As the anger and dissatisfaction in her heart gradually subsided, Su Mo noticed that her expression had softened, so she immediately straightened her face again and lowered her voice.

"Still lying?"
