Chapter 20

Ji Zhaoming stared at the large cluster of flowers in front of him, his mouth slightly agape, momentarily speechless.

After a long pause, he stammered, "What...what is this?"

"Galaxy." Gu Yunzhou casually held the flower's tail, as if he were holding something unimportant, and handed it to Ji Zhaoming: "Does Master want it? If not, just throw it away."

The closer you get, the more you can appreciate the beauty of the flowers; no wonder they are so highly sought after that they are priceless.

Ji Zhaoming's breath hitched: "But you've already given me the Milky Way."

Gu Yunzhou asked in confusion, "When?"

Ji Zhaoming pointed to the brooch on his chest.

“That’s not the Milky Way, it’s just an ordinary planet,” Gu Yunzhou asked slowly. “Does Master not like it? If not, there are other options.”

With a snap of his fingers, the bedroom was filled with gifts.

Gu Yunzhou said, "The search was rather rushed."

None of these gifts can compare to the Milky Way.

I should have prepared more.

Ji Zhaoming was certain that as soon as he uttered the word "no," Gu Yunzhou would immediately throw Yinhe away.

Ji Zhaoming quickly accepted Yinhe: "No need, no need, I like it very much."

As he got closer, besides the fragrance of flowers, he could also faintly smell a bloody odor wafting towards him, passing through the floral scent.

He glanced at Gu Yunzhou's clothes.

There was a small cut on my shoulder.

Given Gu Yunzhou's personality, he would never normally wear such clothes to see him; something must have happened.

Ji Zhaoming asked, "Are you injured?"

Without saying a word, he tried to strip Gu Yunzhou's clothes off.

Gu Yunzhou took two steps back, the tips of his ears turning slightly red: "Master."

He's definitely feeling guilty!

Ji Zhaoming grabbed Gu Yunzhou's arm to prevent him from backing away and unbuttoned Gu Yunzhou's shirt with one hand.

One after another.

Gu Yunzhou was wearing a thin shirt, and the view inside was clearly visible. Ji Zhaoming paused slightly and slowed down, which gave Gu Yunzhou a chance to escape.

But Gu Yunzhou did not run away. Instead, he stood there in a daze, letting Ji Zhaoming strip his clothes off.

Sure enough, there was a slight seepage of blood on his shoulder, and the smell of blood was coming from there.

Ji Zhaoming asked somewhat angrily, "How did you get injured?"

"It's just a minor injury." Gu Yunzhou covered his wound. "Does Master like these gifts?"

The topic had taken an abrupt turn, leaving Ji Zhaoming completely bewildered.

Fortunately, the medicine that he had sprayed on Gu Yunzhou last time was left in the bedroom. Ji Zhaoming took the medicine out of the drawer and said, "Lower your body a little, I'll apply the medicine for you."

Gu Yunzhou bent his back.

Ji Zhaoming stood on tiptoe and blew on the injured area: "Tell me if it hurts."

"Did the master like those gifts?"

"I like it, so what?" Ji Zhaoming asked, puzzled. He bandaged up the injured area and patted Gu Yunzhou's arm. "Alright, get up."

Gu Yunzhou turned his face to the side.

A small bow flutters in the wind.

Ji Zhaoming chuckled, almost bursting out laughing.

There was no other reason than that this bow was simply too incompatible with Gu Yunzhou. He was about to untie it and replace it with another one when Gu Yunzhou stopped him.

"No need, this is fine." Gu Yunzhou grabbed Ji Zhaoming's wrist.

It's too thin.

Even after raising it for so many days, its owner is still so thin.

Gu Yunzhou frowned: "Once the dangers outside are cleared away, these gifts will all belong to the master."

"Hmm?" Ji Zhaoming asked, "What danger?"

Wait.

He suddenly thought of the days when robots were embroiled in war.

Could it be what he's thinking?

Everything except the robots is dangerous?

Gu Yunzhou's fingertips kept rubbing the red string on his wrist. Ji Zhaoming, enduring the ticklish feeling, asked cautiously, "You two didn't... get into a fight, did you?"

Gu Yunzhou: "It will all be resolved soon."

Ji Zhaoming: !!!

So it was just as he thought!

A note from the author:

Ugh, another day spent out. I'll thank everyone for the nutrient solution tomorrow when I get my computer back!

Chapter 16

The Beast Within

Ji Zhaoming grasped Gu Yunzhou's hand in return and said earnestly, "Gu Yunzhou, other races also have lives, and life is paramount and inviolable."

Gu Yunzhou carefully felt the hands being held, and after a long while, he slowly said, "The King is the most important."

Ji Zhaoming had a headache.

He then realized how arduous and long-term this task was. The robots were good in every way, except that they didn't recognize anyone except their king.

Ji Zhaoming looked at his thin arms and legs, and then thought about how he had been having nosebleeds and fevers these past few days. It seemed there was really no reason to say that those things weren't dangerous.

Ji Zhaoming pressed her face against Gu Yunzhou's hand, "I will stay by your side every step of the way, so you will protect me too, right?"

He had never been so close to anyone before; his cheeks flushed slightly, and his heart pounded in his chest. A gentle breeze carried the scent of Gu Yunzhou, like plum blossoms in the snow, into his nostrils.

No, perhaps it smells even better than real winter plum blossoms. Plum blossoms, rising from the cold snowflakes, drift down into the stream, flowing downstream accompanied by the chirping of birds in early spring.

—That's the scent of spring.

This is ridiculous. Gu Yunzhou clearly looks like an unapproachable mountain. Ji Zhaoming shook his head, trying to dispel the thought.

With a coquettish look, Ji Zhaoming blinked and asked, "Right?"

Gu Yunzhou: "...I don't understand."

"Hmm?" Ji Zhaoming asked, "What don't you understand?"

"Why is the king so good to them?" Gu Yunzhou thought about other races. Their original bodies were either huge or ugly. If you only look at their appearance and not their transformed appearance, they were even less human than robots.

It is said that like attracts like and opposites repel each other. The master is clearly their king, so why should he care about the life and death of others?

Ji Zhaoming exclaimed, "Because life is priceless."

Gu Yunzhou recited a string of numbers.

Ji Zhaoming didn't understand: "What is that?"

Gu Yunzhou's wrist was still tightly held by Ji Zhaoming, which made his patience go from 100 points to 1000 points. His master was a magical existence, able to push his bottom line back little by little without anyone noticing.

But he did so willingly.

He wanted to be held by Ji Zhaoming for a lifetime, willingly being locked in by an invisible chain.

Gu Yunzhou explained, "These are the prices of these races at the auction. Would you like to hear in detail which races are being discussed?"

Ji Zhaoming was stunned.

This is the interstellar age, how can people still be auctioned off?

Ji Zhaoming stammered, "Is this...really allowed? Isn't it illegal?"

On second thought, it seems that the laws of different races are different. For example, robots take the king's orders as the highest standard, followed by the leader.

Arrogant races find it difficult to submit to other races; they enforce their own laws within their own communities.

This is a chaotic era, and at this moment, Ji Zhaoming clearly realized it.

He began to hesitate, his eyes lowered as he stared at Gu Yunzhou's wrist.

Even though the scars have faded, it doesn't change the fact that Gu Yunzhou suffered many losses in battle after battle.

The robot may seem indestructible, but it can actually be injured if bitten by a rabbit.

Ji Zhaoming gripped Gu Yunzhou's hand tightly, unsure whether he should speak up.

He thought for a moment and did not criticize Gu Yunzhou's actions. Instead, he said, "But they haven't harmed me yet. There's no need to treat them as a danger and try to eliminate them before anything happens."

Gu Yunzhou was silent for a moment: "Prevention is better than cure."

Ji Zhaoming released Gu Yunzhou's hand, pointed to the sky with both fingers, and swore, "Then I promise, I will definitely follow you closely. If they harm me, then you can do whatever you want with me, okay?"

Gu Yunzhou looked at Ji Zhaoming's hand, which was outstretched in mid-air, with some regret.

“Alright,” Gu Yunzhou said slowly, “but this will take some time before we can take the king out.”

Ji Zhaoming blinked and smiled: "It's okay! As long as you can stay by my side, that's enough."

Swish.

Gu Yunzhou hurriedly got up.

Ji Zhaoming then realized his slip of the tongue.

Because no one can guarantee that the robot will stay by his side forever.
