Love Across Time - Chapter 4
However, Su Huan'er didn't. The newly reborn Su Huan'er disdained such childish and empty threats, coldly stating:
"Are you finished? If you are, please leave. I have important matters to discuss with Master Su." Even though she is now Su Huan'er, don't expect her to call that old man "father."
"You shameless woman!" Su Hongxiang shouted, raising her hand to hit someone.
"Stop!" the old man shouted as he appeared at the door.
Su Hongxiang stopped, stomped her foot, and turned to leave.
"Come to the study, I have something to tell you." His eyes were filled with disgust and smugness towards the mother and daughter! He was smug that this defenseless mother and daughter would ultimately submit to his tyranny. When Su Guangping met Huan'er's gaze, he was stunned; it was a pair of cold, fearless eyes. It must be an illusion! That cowardly woman couldn't possibly have such eyes! No woman would have that kind of look. He turned and left, knowing that Su Huan'er would follow closely behind.
As she followed behind, Yang Yiliu hurriedly glanced around the Su family mansion. Pavilions, terraces, rockeries, gardens, streams, and small bridges—it was the epitome of luxury, yet utterly vulgar. Were all wealthy families in ancient times like this? Each building was adorned with gold paint, glaringly so.
The so-called study is probably the most impoverished place. A few books are placed on the desk, and the four walls are covered with famous paintings from various dynasties... Not bad, there are paintings by Wang Wei, genuine works by Yan Zhenqing, and calligraphy by Wang Xizhi... All hanging together, a mixture of different schools, is really vulgar and laughable.
Su Guangping wrote crookedly on the white silk, and it seemed that his literacy skills were about the same as those of a primary school student who was just learning to write.
"Ledger"—he pushed two crooked characters in front of her. She couldn't make them out at first and asked, "What is this?"
"Once you manage to get close to Shi Wuji's study, bring me any book that has those two characters on it. It represents his account books."
It seems he's eyeing someone else's property! Su Guangping continued, "I want you to investigate Shi Wuji's background, pay attention to his interactions with those people, and as to how much property he actually owns. Most importantly, I need a map of 'Aolong Fortress.' You must get it no matter what."
“Aolong Fortress?” she didn’t understand.
"Shi Wuji's castle! The place he lives. Do as I say, or your mother will suffer." He spoke again, this time with threats.
Yang Yiliu frowned slightly and stated her request:
"If I do everything you say, will you let my mother go? I want to take her to live with us."
"As long as you behave yourself, I'll let her go." Su Guangping casually agreed, but inwardly he sneered. Was it really going to be so easy? He was just trying to fool this stupid woman.
"Go down! Have the servants dress you up nicely; you're getting married tomorrow."
Yang Yiliu turned and left. She already had her own plans in mind.

It was a very simple ceremony.
Shi Wuji sent Shi Wujie to fetch the bride in his place. All the traditional rituals were skipped; after a simple bow to heaven and earth, the bride was immediately put into a carriage without lingering, and they said they were going directly back to the six northern provinces! There was no banquet, no notification to relatives and friends, no festivities. Except for the "囍" (double happiness) character on the main gate, everything was as quiet as usual.
The Su family had previously married off two wives and five daughters, all in extravagant displays of wealth and power. This time, their daughter was marrying a business tycoon from the six northern provinces, so an even more lavish affair was expected. However, both families remained silent, treating Su Huan'er with the demeanor of a concubine and a maidservant.
Yu Niang hid in her room and wept bitterly, feeling sorry for her daughter.
Su Guangping wore a smug, self-satisfied smile.
