A Dream of Transmigration - Chapter 3
"Strange attire? Oh, I see," Lin Feifei quickly looked down at herself, unable to see anything unusual. "Nothing's wrong with it. Do we all have to wear ancient costumes here?"
Master Zixu's eyes flickered, and after a moment of focused observation, he became surprised.
"This female benefactor is not of this world, so how did she come to this place?"
Not a contemporary person? Lin Feifei listened to the nonsense for a while, feeling somewhat confused.
But Master Zixu stared intently at her, nodding and smiling: "Indeed, we are destined to meet..."
Lin Feifei ignored them and dusted herself off: "Thank you, Daoist Master. I think I should go back quickly so I don't run into them again. Grandpa is waiting for me."
Master Zixu simply smiled and said, "If you have any questions on your journey, you may come to Yuanfu Palace to find me."
After saying that, he left without looking back.
.
"Where's the highway? Where's the highway! Oh my god!"
When did the highway disappear?! The stalls selling things, that potted orchid, have all vanished without a trace. The surrounding terrain has changed, and everyone along the way is dressed in ancient costumes!
"Grandpa—" she cried out anxiously.
Everything was changing too fast; it was hard to keep up. Composing herself, she closed her eyes and murmured, "I'm going to faint, I'm definitely going to faint..."
Open your eyes again.
All around us, countless ancient people still go up and down the mountain, but the black highway has disappeared.
What's wrong?
She thought for a moment and then grabbed a passing ancient person.
"Excuse me for bothering you," she said with a smile, "Do you know where I can get to the highway?"
The man paused for a moment, then asked in confusion, "What is a highway?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Feifei stammered, "This...this can't be true, right? Huh? What year is this?"
The man was even more puzzled: "The seventh year of Jiading."
Jiading?!
Lin Feifei's first reaction was that Jiading sounded familiar; her second reaction was that she could only say things from the early 2000s, and definitely wouldn't say Jiading; her third reaction was—
Oh no, have we been transported to ancient times?!
"You're not lying to me, are you?"
The man's face immediately darkened, and he said angrily, "I'm just telling you out of kindness; if you don't believe me, then so be it!"
After saying that, he flipped his sleeves with a flourish and left.
Transmigrating Through a Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio: Chapter 3 - Becoming an Apprentice of Maoshan
As expected of an ancient Taoist holy site, Maoshan was dotted with thatched huts and small temples, incense smoke curling between them, and pilgrims coming and going along the mountain paths. The sounds of bells and chimes echoed throughout the journey. It was nearly noon when Yuanfu Palace came into view. Although summer was coming to an end, the vegetation was still lush and verdant, and the palace appeared even more majestic and solemn amidst the swirling smoke.
Lin Feifei had no interest in appreciating the scenery and barged straight in.
Fortunately, there were many worshippers, so no one paid much attention. Only a few young Taoist priests who saw her looked surprised and doubtful. Before they could react, she had already disappeared again.
She turned left and right, running through countless palaces, before finally finding herself in a large courtyard.
Where exactly does Master Zixu live? Thinking of his words that he was "not a person of this world," she was filled with hope: since he knew, he could surely send her back; her grandfather was still waiting for her!
She decided to ask someone for directions. Dejected, she prepared to leave, only to realize she had completely forgotten the way. The houses here were like a maze; it was no wonder a stranger would get lost wandering around like this.
Just as I was feeling troubled, a voice rang out—
"You should be offering incense at the temple, why are you here?" The words sounded very mature, but the voice was somewhat childish.
.
Lin Feifei looked closely and saw that it was a young Taoist boy of eleven or twelve years old, with delicate features and a childlike face, who was bowing to her.
Seeing that he was so young but acted like an adult, Lin Feifei laughed.
The young Taoist priest didn't seem very happy.
"What are you laughing at, benefactor?"
Lin Feifei coughed quickly: "I want to find Master Zixu, do you know that?"
The young Taoist looked at her warily: "What do you want with my master?"
"You know him?" Lin Feifei's face lit up with joy. It was truly an easy find. She immediately put on the most "kind and amiable" smile she had ever shown: "He's your master?"
"Of course!" The young Taoist puffed out his chest proudly.
"I have something urgent to do, my dear child, please take me to him quickly, okay?"
Upon hearing this, the young Taoist priest hesitated.
“This…” He looked back, “My master doesn’t receive guests casually.”
“Hehe,” Lin Feifei chuckled dryly, “I’m different, he’s the one who asked me to come.”
