Capítulo 11

Tolerate!

I'll endure it!

I've had enough!

He slammed his fist on the table, stood up, rushed to the window, and yelled, "Master! Give me two servings of stewed green beans with pork!"

Perhaps it was my imposing presence, but the head chef's hand slipped while serving me the food, and he gave me almost three portions! A bowl of fragrant rice mixed with the stewed meat broth—it was absolutely delicious!

While eating stewed meat and rice, I felt as happy as if I were in heaven.

After finishing the stew and rice, I felt like I was in hell, filled with regret.

It turns out that the distance between heaven and hell is only a big bowl of stewed meat with rice.

To punish myself, I wandered around the campus in circles, not allowing myself to rest. Maybe if I walked more, all the meat and rice I ate would turn into air and disappear! I wishfully fantasized like that.

I'm so tired, my back aches so much it feels like it's going to break. There's still a huge pile of documents and materials in the office that I haven't sorted out yet, and I'll be working myself to the bone again this afternoon.

Okay, I'll take a break! Just for a little while!!

I sat at the stone table in the garden, the sun shining warmly on me, it felt so good.

My eyelids started to droop, I kept opening them... I... I think I'll just take a nap.

I hate myself. For the first time in twenty-three years, I've realized that I'm such a person who lacks perseverance.

I'm absolutely not eating dinner!

I said fiercely to myself, "Whoever eats dinner tonight is a dog!"

At night, sitting at my desk eating the pizza that Dingding ordered for me, I turned into a little dog who cried while eating the pizza.

Although my first day of dieting was a complete failure, I wasn't discouraged because I still have tomorrow!

Hehe, I, Su Yuanyuan, will never give up on losing weight!

Day 2 of voluntary dieting:

I slept until 7:45 in the morning, then slowly got up to brush my teeth and wash my face.

I arrived at the cafeteria at 8 o'clock sharp and ate a bowl of porridge, two meat buns, a cup of soy milk, and two fried dough sticks.

I had class this morning and discovered a student secretly eating ladyfingers during class, which made me very angry. I confiscated all the ladyfingers, but after class, I brought them back to my office and, finding myself unable to deal with them, I ate them all myself. Hmm, they were creamy almond flavored, quite good! I'll buy some for my little one next time.

I went to the second canteen with Dingding for lunch. The chef there was incredibly lucky today and made sweet and sour pork ribs, braised fish, and stir-fried pork intestines.

These were all dishes that Dingding didn't like to eat, so she hastily ate some rice soaked in tomato and egg soup. I ate my own dishes and Dingding's dishes.

Because I ate too much, I was still burping during the second period in the afternoon.

The department held a meeting in the evening, and afterwards we had dinner together in the small hall of the third canteen.

I heard that the director paid for the meal.

I couldn't let this guy get away with it so easily, so I ate like crazy. I ate until I was sweating and my limbs were twitching.

At 10:13, back in my dorm, lying on my bed with my eyes closed, I suddenly let out a wail: "I was supposed to be on a diet! I completely forgot!"

God! Save me! Can you share half of my appetite with Dingding?

The second day's diet plan also failed completely.

I am not discouraged, because tomorrow still exists, and hope still exists.

Su Yuanyuan, you must cheer up!

Day 3 of my voluntary diet:

I got up at 7:10 a.m., dressed neatly, and headed straight to my office. On the way, I lingered for ten minutes at the entrance of the first canteen, fifteen minutes at the entrance of the second canteen, and ran into Dean Qu while lingering at the entrance of the third canteen.

"Yuanyuan, want to have breakfast together?" Qu Ling's smile shone brightly in the morning light.

"Fine!" All my perseverance and patience over the past twenty-five minutes have gone down the drain.

I was curious about what the Dean ate for breakfast, so I followed closely behind him.

A carton of milk, a boiled egg, a fried mantou smaller than my fist, and a side dish.

That's all.

OMG! How can a grown man eat so little? This little bit of food isn't even enough to fill a tooth gap!

When it was my turn to get my food, I tilted my head and thought for a long time before gritting my teeth and saying to the chef, "Give me one of the same thing as before!"

Qu Ling, who was sitting by the window, waved to me. I carried my meager breakfast and sat down opposite him.

"Yuanyuan, don't you like eating greasy food in the morning anymore?" Qu Ling asked, looking at my plate with a hint of delight.

Wrong! I've always liked greasy food, the greasier the better!

"Hehe, yeah, I've always thought that breakfast should be light!" I smiled and took a bite of a hard-boiled egg. It was tasteless, and the cold yolk had an indescribable chicken poop smell.

Qu Ling smiled, opened the milk carton, and elegantly poured the milk into a glass, saying, "You weren't like this when you were little."

"Well?"

“You once told me when you were little that your favorite breakfast was a big, juicy meat bun.”

"Huh?" I accidentally put the whole egg in my mouth, and it got stuck in my throat, making me choke and roll my eyes.

Qu Ling hurriedly pushed the freshly poured milk in front of me: "Take a sip, it's too much of a strain for you to swallow an egg in one gulp."

I gulped down the milk while rolling my eyes. Only after finally getting the egg down did I feel like I was alive again.

At the next table, someone was carrying a plate of large, steaming, and fragrant meat buns that had just come out of the steamer.

"Actually, eating meat in the morning isn't bad for your health..." I said absentmindedly, glancing at the large meat bun on the next table.

"Hmm?" Qu Ling followed my gaze and chuckled.

"Dean Qu... Dean Qu," I said with a long face after hearing his laughter, "Actually, I still prefer big, juicy meat buns for breakfast~~~"

How shameful! Lying to the dean and getting caught red-handed because of my lack of self-control. Su Yuanyuan, you spineless coward.

She lowered her head, not daring to look at Qu Ling's face, but heard him stand up and leave the dining table.

Sigh, he really dislikes me. He probably doesn't like having breakfast with a fat guy who wants to eat meat first thing in the morning.

I have completely disgraced the Su family.

Just as he was feeling sorry for himself, Qu Ling suddenly returned.

I looked up in surprise, and he smiled as he placed a plate of meat buns in front of me, saying, "Stop eating steamed buns, have some meat buns instead!"

"Dean Qu... Dean Qu!" I was so moved that my eyes welled up with tears.

“There must be a reason why Yuanyuan likes to eat so much.” Qu Ling picked up a soft and fragrant bun with her chopsticks and said, “I’m having a meat bun today too.”

If I had a tail like a puppy, it would be wagging so hard it's about to break off.

"Yuanyuan," Qu Ling said, taking a bite of her steamed bun and noticing I was still staring at her, "You look just like a little puppy right now!"

I admit, when faced with a meat bun, I'm just a little dog.

"Eat quickly, it won't taste good if it gets cold." Qu Ling picked up another meat bun and placed it on the plate in front of me.

After quickly devouring two meat buns, I suddenly remembered that I was on a grand diet plan.

But I don't regret it. These are steamed buns that Qu Ling bought for me! They are the most delicious meat buns in the world!

Qu Ling, probably noticing the strange changes in my facial expression, asked, "Yuanyuan... what's wrong?"

"I...I..." I pouted and said, "Dean, actually I'm on a diet recently."

"Oh?" A smile gradually appeared in Qu Ling's eyes. "How do you lose weight?"

"Ugh, don't even mention it!" I sighed mournfully and recounted my weight loss journey over the past two days in detail.

"So, I wasn't planning on eating meat buns today, but Dean, you tempted me to eat them again!" I complained, pouting.

"Pfft—" After enduring for so long, Qu Ling finally broke down and burst into laughter.

"Yuanyuan!" he said with a laugh, tapping my head with his chopsticks. "You're even cuter than when you were little!"

"No way!" Seeing him laugh like that, I looked around embarrassedly. Luckily, breakfast was almost over and the restaurant was nearly empty. Honestly, if I had known he would react like this, I wouldn't have told him.

"Dean! I'm going to my office now!" I said, tidying up my plate and leaving the scene feeling dejected.

I swear, if I eat lunch or dinner today, I'm a shameless scoundrel!

Ugh! I'm so angry!

By nightfall, I had finally turned into a shameless rascal.

The work is just too hard. I work all day and then have to work overtime at night. How can I have the energy to deal with all those documents and files if I don't eat?

Okay, starting tomorrow, I'm going to work myself to death to lose weight! I swear to God! @@!

*****

Since the evaluation preparations began, all the teachers at our school have stopped having weekends off, and can only take turns having half a day off each week. I usually live at school, and I don't even see my family. If I don't go back on weekends to get a change of clothes and show my face to the adults, my grandparents and parents will miss me terribly! I firmly believe that Su Yuanyuan is more important to her family than anyone else!

On Friday night, I worked myself to the bone to finish what I was doing before 8 p.m., then quickly packed my things back at the dorm and sped home on my electric scooter.

My lovely home, my dear home, Yuanyuan is about to return to your warm embrace!

Unfortunately, I was not greeted with hot tea or the warm smiles of my family.

The house was completely dark, and the yard was so quiet you could hear the insects chirping.

"Mom! Grandma!" I stood in the yard, my palms cold. Even though I knew there was probably no one home, I couldn't help but stand downstairs calling out pitifully.

The neighbor's wolfhound, Duoduo, leaned against the fence and barked at me twice.

"Old Su!" I roared angrily at the night sky.

"Woof woof!!" Duoduo barked twice more.

Where did my family go? Did they move while I was gone for a week? Even if they moved, they should have told me. How can they just vanish like that?

My phone suddenly rang, playing a joyful tune in the quiet, cold winter night. The name I had just called out flashed on the screen: Su Laosi.

"Dad! Where did you all go? There's no one at home!" I yelled as soon as I answered the phone.
