Chapter 112: The Third Meeting
Li Yang also felt somewhat guilty. Looking up, he realized he had unknowingly wandered into a bustling residential area. He knew this area; it wasn't far from the school and was a level above Cao Xin's apartment complex, boasting completely modern facilities and extremely strong security, requiring passes to enter. The amenities inside were undoubtedly top-of-the-line and high-tech.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. Besides, it's not just my fault. You weren't watching where you were going. Here, I'll give you two hundred yuan so you can go see a doctor." Li Yang took out two hundred yuan and gave it to him; delivering natural gas isn't easy for them.
"Really?" The worker didn't expect Li Yang to be so easy to talk to. Actually, his pain was just severe, but when he touched it, there was nothing seriously wrong, and his bones were fine.
It wouldn't cost more than two hundred yuan. Seeing that Li Yang still looked like a student, he knew that students were simple, honest, and didn't have many bad intentions. He felt embarrassed to take more money from Li Yang, so he said, "Fifty yuan will do. I don't think it's a big deal, just a bruise. You see, some safflower oil will do the trick. It's just that the gas canister can't be sent up for the time being, which will delay the work and I'll be punished."
The worker looked at the large tank of natural gas with a worried expression, feeling somewhat dejected. Li Yang looked up at the residential area, wondering if the area didn't have natural gas and needed to be refilled.
What he didn't know was that this upscale neighborhood naturally had natural gas, but there had been some problems with the nearby gas pipelines for the past couple of days. Residents relied on natural gas for cooking, heating, and bathing, so losing it would be a major issue. Therefore, they had to temporarily use bottled gas.
"Okay, tell me the address, and I'll deliver it for you." Li Yang felt this matter concerned him, and he couldn't just leave fifty yuan and walk away. The worker was quite honest, and he should reciprocate, shouldn't he?
"You, are you sure you can do it?" The worker was skeptical. Li Yang looked so thin, could he really lift such a large tank of natural gas?
"Hehe, just you wait and see." Li Yang smiled faintly, grabbed the natural gas with his large hand, swung it around easily, and then put it down again.
"How about it?" Li Yang asked proudly.
"Impressive! You're amazing, young man! You can't judge a book by its cover! Thank you so much for your help. Just take it upstairs for me, and don't bother with the fifty yuan. I'll go back and rest for a bit." The worker was really honest; he didn't want the money.
Feeling bad, Li Yang insisted, "No, I don't need the money. You said you'd give me two hundred, and now you're not even taking fifty. I feel bad about it. I have to take it."
Li Yang pulled out his wallet, rummaged through it, and damn it, it was all hundred-yuan bills. "Oh well, I'll just give him a hundred," he thought. He took out a hundred-yuan note and handed it to the worker, saying, "Keep the change, sir, a hundred is fine."
"No, I said fifty, so it's fifty. I'll give you my change!" The worker stubbornly pulled out a wad of cash wrapped in cloth, took out a fifty-yuan note, and stuffed it into Li Yang's hand before accepting his hundred-yuan bill. He carefully put it back.
Li Yang was deeply moved and felt a sense of admiration. What a fine migrant worker, honest and noble.
"Tell me the address, and I'll definitely deliver it to you," Li Yang said with a bright and enthusiastic smile. He genuinely wanted to help him.
"Okay, I'll tell you the address..."
The worker gave Li Yang an address in a residential area, which he remembered after hearing it once. He then picked up the natural gas and prepared to leave.
"Brother, did you remember the address?" The worker was still worried. He'd only said it once; how could the man have remembered it? He himself had memorized it over a dozen times before daring to leave the house. The worker couldn't read, so the boss had to read it to him. If the man hadn't been so hardworking, the boss wouldn't have gone to the trouble of keeping him around.
"Don't worry, no problem." Li Yang smiled slightly and repeated the address, which was indeed exactly correct.
"Young man, you have a great memory. Impressive!" the worker exclaimed, giving him a thumbs-up.
Li Yang smiled slightly, picked up the gas and walked towards the entrance of the community. With his photographic memory, this little thing was a piece of cake.
"Stop? What are you doing?" The security guard's eyes seemed to be filled with anger; he clearly saw Li Yang carrying natural gas, yet he still asked what he was doing.
Damn, are you blind?
Li Yang said unhappily, "It's for delivering gas!"
"What gas are you delivering? Is there anyone here who's short of gas? Don't you even know where you are? Does anyone use this kind of gas?" The security guard looked down on Li Yang with disdain.
"Damn it! You think you're the only one with eyes and brains and we're all idiots? Go to this address and call them! If you delay their business, you can just pack your bags and get out of here!" Li Yang raised an eyebrow, his sinister aura bursting out, and a pressure suddenly shot out, enveloping the arrogant security guard.
The security guard felt a chill run down his spine, as if he were facing a powerful boss in the community. Moreover, Li Yang's tone suggested he wasn't lying, so he didn't dare to underestimate him. He immediately bowed and scraped to Li Yang, saying, "Okay, okay, please wait a moment, I'll call and ask right away."
"Yes, yes, I understand, I'll have him go up right away..." The security guard dialed the number obsequiously, and after saying only a few words, he immediately hung up the phone, bowing and scraping.
Turning back to Li Yang, she smiled obsequiously and said, "Excuse me, it's my fault for not being able to see well. Please, please!" She gestured for Li Yang to come inside.
Li Yang ignored him. "Damn it," he thought, "it was just helping out, why should I care?" He carried the gas cylinder inside. The security guard watched his retreating figure, his face paling. That was a huge tank of gas; he just tossed it in with one hand, looking completely at ease?
His strength is insane! Luckily, I didn't argue with him earlier, otherwise I would have been completely dominated!
Li Yang took the elevator to the apartment building, rang the doorbell, and waited quietly. The door clicked open quickly, but Li Yang was stunned.
The woman standing before him was someone he knew. Damn it, it was Xue Tao, the strong woman he had met a few times. Today, she was dressed very casually in a relaxed home outfit, her hair casually tied up with a chopstick in place, and her large breasts below her fair neck stretched her top high, making the clothes seem to float in the air.
The white cotton trousers fit her perfectly, clearly showing her hot body curves. She had a slim waist, long and straight legs, and slender calves. She looked like a woman who often did yoga or other fitness exercises. If it weren't for the front view, Li Yang would have wanted to peek over to see what her buttocks looked like.
Li Yang was hesitating whether to pretend he didn't know her when he twitched his nose and immediately smelled a foul, burnt odor. His expression changed drastically, and he exclaimed, "What are you doing? It smells awful!"
Li Yang rushed in with the gas stove without even changing his shoes, only to see a plume of smoke rising from the open kitchen, indicating that some food had burned. He quickly ran over and turned off the induction cooker.
Chapter 113: You Came from a Refugee Camp
"What are you doing?" Li Yang looked at the half-cooked rice in the pot, the dry bottom of the pot, and an egg that had been opened but not stirred.
"I'm cooking!" Xue Tao said matter-of-factly, her demeanor still relaxed, which Li Yang had to admire about her mental fortitude.
"Cooking? This is the first time I've seen someone make fried rice without oil. Ah, what's in that pot of yours?" Li Yang's eyes widened again as he looked at the bubbling pot on the side, where sparse egg flowers were rolling around. There were hardly any egg flowers in the pot of soup, and nothing else.
"Egg drop soup, what's wrong with it?" Xue Tao finally felt a little embarrassed, but she was too proud to admit it. She glared at Li Yang with wide eyes, a hint of anger in her voice. What I do is none of your business! Why are you talking nonsense?
"This is eye-opening! I didn't know you could make an egg drop soup like this!" Li Yang shook his head speechlessly. Just throw an egg into a pot of water and you can make egg drop soup. What a genius! Is there anything more ingenious than this?
"Is it any of your business if I want to?" Xue Tao said unhappily, looking down at Li Yang with obvious provocation.
Li Yang felt a headache coming on and couldn't be bothered with her. Little did he know that although Xue Tao was a super strong woman, she was practically an idiot when it came to daily life. She couldn't cook, couldn't wash clothes, and tidying up was out of the question. If it weren't for a part-time cleaner, she could have turned her place into a pigsty.
It's hard to imagine that Xue Tao, the glamorous and aloof businesswoman in public, is like this in private. Today, she was too lazy to go out. She finally had a day off, and she didn't want to go out. Usually, she's busy for months on end, with endless meetings and flights.
Because she rarely has time to rest, she doesn't have a nanny at home, only a part-time housekeeper who cleans the rooms regularly. She slept until this time and was starving, but she didn't want to order takeout. Besides, she didn't know the phone number for takeout, and given her status, she basically had no contact with such people.
These things are usually handled in five-star hotels. Today, I suddenly had some free time at home, and this happened. I was going to cook with the rice cooker and induction cooker, but I heard that food cooked on an induction cooker is terrible and not very nutritious, so I called and had a gas cylinder delivered. She doesn't come home often, so she didn't know there was a gas problem here. Although they're working on repairs, it won't be fixed anytime soon.
But while waiting for the gas, she was so hungry that she had to get up, wash up, and then reluctantly start cooking on the induction cooker. Who knew that she would end up like this?
