Mother-in-law: "Son-in-law, my darling, I really regret letting you go to university and making people come all this way to find you."

Daqi hugged her and whispered, "Mom, what are you talking about? I'm right here in front of you!" He raised his hand and gently patted his mother-in-law's plump buttocks twice, saying, "If you really miss me in the future, just have Wen'er drive you over." His mother-in-law happily said, "Thank you, my dear son-in-law!" Qiwen could only shake her head: Sigh, my mother is hopeless!

Daqi didn't see it that way; he quite liked his mother-in-law. He enjoyed the feeling of stripping his mother-in-law, Qiwen, and Xiaoling naked. Xiaoling, being tactful, would always take a backseat whenever she saw Daqi's mother-in-law, helping Daqi "pull the strings" behind the scenes. Although Daqi doted on his mother-in-law, he also considered Qiwen's feelings. Qiwen was afraid of her mother, but Daqi always "took care" of both his mother-in-law and "her," which made Qiwen extremely grateful.

Although Daqi adored his mother-in-law, he knew he couldn't spoil her too much, at least not outwardly. Otherwise, she would act like she owned the house. He needed to ensure Qiwen held the absolute "Empress" position in the family. As for Xiaoling, this "concubine," seeing Qiwen as the "Empress" and her mother-in-law as the "Empress Dowager," proactively asked Daqi to "take care" of them. Xiaoling understood that these two women were not to be trifled with! Every time Qiwen and her daughter left, Daqi would praise Xiaoling, saying, "Ling'er, you're very sensible." Xiaoling smiled and said, "I'm with you every day, it's alright. They can only see you once a week, so naturally I have to be considerate of them."

On this day, sometime in late December 2002, Daqi was reading at his residence while Xiaoling was cooking in the kitchen. After finishing cooking, the two began to eat. Xiaoling said to Daqi, "Master, in a couple of days, our department is holding a Party School exam. Party Branch Secretary Teacher Wang said he hopes I can pass. If I pass, he plans to make me a probationary Party member next semester." Daqi said, "You're the acting president of the student union, so you should be a candidate for Party building." Xiaoling said, "But I'm worried I won't pass the Party School exam because almost everyone in the department has signed up, and only the top thirty will be selected." Daqi said, "Our department also wants us to apply for the Party School. How about this, on the day of the exam, I'll write your name on it, and I guarantee you'll pass smoothly." "Li is going to study at the Party School," Xiaoling said. "What about you?" Daqi asked. "Will our two departments have exams on the same day?" Xiaoling replied, "They should be on the same day." Daqi said, "Never mind, I'll take the exam for you, so you don't need to go to the exam hall. Anyway, I'm not really interested in these Party School things. I'll take the exam for you, I won't take it myself." Xiaoling said, "That...that's not good." Daqi said, "Don't worry, I'll go with you to class. I also want to hear how our school's leaders teach their Party classes. I'll go with you to class, and I'll give you the Party School graduation certificate." "It's useless even for wiping your butt. Because I have no intention of joining the Party." Xiaoling said, "Okay, then it's all up to you. I heard that the Party School entrance exam is difficult; a student union vice president in our department has tried several times and failed." Daqi said, "Don't worry, your husband will go, I guarantee you'll succeed immediately. The Party School exam will definitely cover the content of the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Even if I don't study, I can still pass. With the level of those people in your broadcasting department, even if they practice for another five years, they probably won't be half as good as me." Xiaoling laughed, "That's right, my master is no ordinary person. You've been in the library recently..." "What books do you read in the library?" Daqi said, "Director Bai introduced me to quite a few books on the theory of CCP party building, such as 'Selected Works of Mao Zedong' and 'Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping.'" Xiaoling said, "What use are these books to you if you're not going to be a cadre?" Daqi said, "It's purely out of interest. I have to admire Chairman Mao Zedong; his writing is truly excellent, indescribably so. This time when I went back to university, I finally systematically finished reading Volumes 4 and 5 of 'Selected Works of Mao Zedong.' If I hadn't read so many books on party building theory, how could I have boasted that I could easily get you into the Party School?"

This weekend, the school held its Party School entrance exam. Because it was an internal school exam, impersonation was extremely easy. Daqi asked Xiaoling to lead him to the exam hall, then instructed her, "Many people know you. You must hide during the exam until I leave the exam hall." Xiaoling said, "How about this, I'll go to the library. Call me as soon as you're done." Daqi nodded and said, "Okay, you go to the library first." Xiaoling nodded and left.

Daqi arrived at the examination hall. After the exam bell rang, the teacher began distributing the papers. He started answering the questions as soon as he received his. He found the questions far too easy, and finished all the questions in less than twenty minutes, while some others had barely even started. However, Daqi was clever; he didn't rush to hand in his paper. He was taking the exam for Xiaoling, and handing it in too early would attract the proctor's attention. In the broadcasting department, almost all the teachers knew Lin Xiaoling, the student council acting president. He didn't hand in his paper until the final bell rang, joining the others in doing so.

After handing in his exam, Daqi went straight to the library to find Xiaoling. Xiaoling asked him, "How did it go? Did you pass the exam?" Daqi laughed, "Even I could have taken it ten years ago. Haha, that's a bit of an exaggeration, it was really easy, no problem." Xiaoling was so happy that she kissed Daqi on the spot and laughed, "With you by my side, nothing can stop me." Daqi said, "You really like having me by your side, Acting President Lin?" Xiaoling laughed, "I really couldn't have become the student council president without you." Daqi laughed, "Now that you're in charge, you can ignore me." Xiaoling laughed, "Master, Ling'er loves you madly, even if I lose the presidency, I'll still be with you. Let's go home, the exam is over anyway." Daqi proudly rode home with Xiaoling in a Cadillac.

A week later, the Broadcasting Department announced the list of candidates for the Party School exam, and Lin Xiaoling had the best score, ranking first. The department also notified all candidates qualified for Party School training that they would attend Party classes every weekend starting the following week. After learning the results, Xiaoling happily called Daqi. Daqi said, "Don't be so happy, don't be so happy. You can still treat us to a meal after you join the Party." Xiaoling said, "It's okay, the department has quotas. As the student union president, I'm guaranteed Party membership as long as I don't make any mistakes; it's an unspoken rule." Daqi said, "I want to go with you to your Party class. I want to hear the school leaders give a lecture." Xiaoling said, "Okay, okay."

These past few days, Daqi has overheard some classmates in class expressing their opinions about their homeroom teacher, Ms. Han Meng's, teaching methods. Daqi feels that his classmates are indeed a bit too immature, and they strongly object to Ms. Han's method of asking each student a question in class. Daqi thinks Ms. Han's lectures are good, but she asks too many questions, leaving him speechless several times when she asks him questions in English. He finds Ms. Han quite interesting and enjoys seeing her smile at him. However, the other students don't think the same way. Their comments can be summarized as follows:

Some people say, "Teacher Han's classes are great in every way, except he asks too many questions. It's so annoying!"

Some people say, "I'm most afraid of standing up to speak English. Han Meng always makes me stand up, and I can't stand it anymore."

Some people said, "Why don't we change our English teacher?"

Daqi was quite surprised to hear this. How could anyone want to replace Teacher Han? These kids were being so petty. He thought, "If we really replaced her, she definitely wouldn't be as good as Han Meng." For some reason, Daqi felt this strongly. Just then, Xiaoling told him at their place that the school was organizing a comprehensive evaluation of teachers' teaching abilities—meaning students would evaluate the teachers, essentially giving them scores. Daqi suddenly connected his classmates' comments about Teacher Han with this student-led teacher evaluation.

Good heavens! If that's the case, Ms. Han is in trouble. If she's in trouble, will she be transferred out of the class, or will they get a new English teacher? That won't do! I, Tong Daqi, love having beautiful women teach me. How could I stand it if they replaced me with some old hag? I have to go find Han Meng and ask her to change her teaching style. Maybe then the students will look at her differently.

Thinking of this, Daqi didn't hesitate to call Han Meng. Daqi said, "Teacher Han? This is your student, Tong Daqi!" Han Meng smiled and said, "Oh, it's you. Is there something you need?" Daqi said directly, "Yes, yes, yes, it's extremely urgent!" Han Meng laughed and said, "What, extremely urgent?" Daqi said, "Teacher Han, can we talk in person? It's about your teaching methods. If it weren't urgent, I wouldn't have called." Han Meng said, "Let's meet at 'Shangdao Coffee Shop' at the East Street intersection in the city. Do you want to meet now? I happen to be free from class." Daqi said, "I'll ask for leave to come out. I must explain this to you in person. It's not clear over the phone." So, the two agreed to meet at the coffee shop.

Han Meng and Da Qi both drove to the coffee shop separately. When he saw Han Meng, he was utterly stunned by her beauty. Today, she was wearing a bright red tank top, paired with a flowing, feminine skirt, and gold strappy sandals. Her fiery red outfit made her impossible to ignore, and her gold strappy sandals further drew everyone's attention.

Daqi exclaimed, "Teacher Han's little feet are so beautiful! Watching such a beautiful girl teach is an absolute pleasure. How can we miss such a beautiful sight? No, we can't miss it!"

Daqi and Han Meng sat down in the coffee shop, and he immediately complimented her, "Teacher Han, you're so beautiful!" Han Meng said, "I heard from the students that your wife is also a beauty. When are you going to bring her to school so we can see her?" Daqi laughed and said, "Sure, sure, let's get down to business first." Daqi reported the students' comments to Teacher Han in detail, of course, without mentioning who specifically said them.

Han Meng was surprised to hear this and said, "Ah... how could this be? I always thought that everyone approved of my teaching methods."

Daqi said, "Everyone likes you, Teacher Han, but they can't stand your way of asking questions."

Han Meng: "And what about you?"

Daqi laughed, "I've been there, I know Teacher Han asked questions to liven up the class, not to deliberately make things difficult for the students." Daqi then explained in detail about the school's recent plan to have students rate teachers. Han Meng was genuinely stunned. She stammered, "Daqi, then...I'm...done for sure?" Daqi said, "Teacher Han, I estimate the evaluation will be held the day after tomorrow. You have a class tomorrow, so why not try a different teaching method?" Han Meng said, "I can tell you're a smart person. Tell me your strategy!" Daqi said, "How about this, when you teach tomorrow, explain to the students that you..."

Section Reading 204

Why ask students so many questions? Just say you're trying to liven up the class, not to make things difficult for them. Then announce on the spot that from today onwards, you'll try not to put pressure on anyone and won't ask students questions. Hey, Professor Han, it doesn't matter to us university students whether we study or not; university is mainly about self-study. As long as students attend class properly, that's enough. You don't need to make things difficult for the students; after all, they can grade the teacher too.

Han Meng said, "Daqi, I'm a new teacher at the School of Media Studies, and I know nothing about the so-called student rating system. Even if I did know, I would still use that teaching method because I didn't know the students disliked it so much. Okay, I'll listen to you, and try a different teaching method tomorrow." Then, the two chatted for a while longer before Daqi said he had to go back to school because he had things to do. Han Meng also said she needed to think about how to talk to the students tomorrow. The two then parted ways.

Daqi drove back to school, convinced he'd done the right thing. He was determined to ensure Ms. Han continued teaching smoothly in his class, ideally for both years of university, and not someone else. He loved Han Meng's classes so much. He would be utterly disappointed if she left. Daqi hated English, but he adored English classes, especially Han Meng's. Any other teacher would have been nauseating. He was simply not cut out for learning English.

Daqi thought to himself: Luckily, Xiaoling works in the student union and is very well-informed. Otherwise, he really wouldn't know how to help Han Meng. He didn't know why, but he always felt like he would lose something without Han Meng. "Teacher Han, I hope you can teach all of our university's general English courses. I'm especially happy when you come to class! For some reason, I'm really afraid you won't come to our class!"

Episode 13: Two Beautiful Broadcasters

The morning after meeting Han Meng happened to be her class. Daqi and Xiaoling quickly ate breakfast at a breakfast shop near their rented apartment and then headed to school together. Upon arriving, they went their separate ways to their respective classrooms. Daqi chatted with his classmates for a while before the bell rang. Everyone sat quietly in their seats, waiting for Han Meng's arrival. Ten seconds after the bell rang, Han Meng walked into the classroom from the lounge next to the teachers' room. Han Meng was different today; she was dressed exceptionally formally and elegantly in a business suit. But her alluring high breasts and shapely hips still gave Daqi a good feast for the eyes.

Hey, beautiful women look good in anything; every outfit has its own unique charm.

Han Meng glanced at Da Qi and smiled slightly, and Da Qi was completely captivated. In his eyes, Han Meng was absolutely stunning. Han Meng said, "Good morning, students! I'm very grateful for the valuable feedback you've given me over the past few weeks! What feedback? It's about my teaching methods. First of all, I want to apologize to you all. I didn't realize my teaching methods, specifically the way I ask questions in class, would put so much pressure on you. My intention was simply to encourage you to take English seriously; I had no intention of making things difficult for you. I've decided to take your feedback into consideration. I announce that from now on, I will try to ask you fewer questions in class, so you can have a more relaxed mindset for my English lessons. Of course, you still need to complete the assignments I give you diligently. Finally, thank you all for your support. Don't worry, from today onwards, the pressure on your hearts will definitely be gone. As your homeroom teacher, in the final exams in a month and a half, you can focus on reviewing your other subjects. Those of you aiming for scholarships should take this subject seriously and strive for high scores. In short, no one needs to worry about failing. Rest assured, I, as your homeroom teacher, will ensure that everyone passes smoothly and has a good mood when you go home for the New Year!"

"Clap, clap, clap..." Thunderous applause erupted throughout the classroom. Many students who struggled with English, like Tong Daqi, practically shouted, "Long live Teacher Han!" Daqi thought to himself: Han Meng is amazing; she's truly a brilliant teacher. I'm sure the students will give her high marks. Han Meng kept her promise, indeed asking almost no questions to any students during today's lesson. After school, the students all said, "Teacher Han is so kind; the pressure of class is gone." In the afternoon, Daqi continued teaching in the classroom when suddenly the department's counselor, Teacher Li, ran over to inform everyone: "Don't leave after school; there's something coming up in the department."

After school, everyone kept asking, "What's going on in the department? Is there anything else going on after school?" Li, the literature department's counselor, walked into the classroom and said, "Students, I'm sorry to take up a little of your time. According to school regulations, we need you to evaluate the teaching quality of all your subject teachers..."

Daqi exclaimed in surprise: "My God, they arrived so quickly!" Fortunately, Han Meng had already made significant adjustments to her teaching methods; otherwise, she would have been in a very awkward situation.

Teacher Li distributed an assessment paper to each student. On the paper, each student had to write the name of their teacher and the course taught. For example, they had to write "Han Meng English Class," which had many sub-items such as: blackboard writing, Mandarin proficiency, communication style, etc. Each sub-item had five ratings: Excellent, Good, Average, Poor, and Poor. The entire paper was graded anonymously by the students using a computer-generated answer sheet.

Many students would generally say when giving grades: "My politics teacher is good, so I give him a high score; my basic writing teacher is bad, so I give him a low score; but Ms. Han Meng is excellent, so I give her the highest score!" Daqi gave Ms. Han Meng the "best" in every category, wishing he could add another "best" to every item, but unfortunately, the best grade on the paper was only "good." He kept looking left and right, and to his delight, the other students all gave Ms. Han very high scores.

The next afternoon, Han Meng called Tong Daqi. She took the initiative to thank him.

Han Meng said, "Daqi, thank you so much!"

Daqi: "Teacher Han, thank me? Thank me for what?"

Han Meng: "My department head talked to me today and gave me high praise for my teaching!"

Daqi: "Congratulations, Teacher Han! Congratulations, Teacher Han!"

Han Meng: "Thanks to your timely reminder, the students gave me very high marks."

Daqi: "It's because you teach well, Teacher Han. Well taught is well taught, and the students' scores are just an objective reflection of the facts."

Han Meng: "Hehe, look at you, Tong Daqi, you speak so sweetly. So, are you free this weekend? Teacher Han will treat you to a meal to express my gratitude."

Daqi: "Teacher Han, I can't accept this. What are you thanking me for? I'll be grateful as long as you still come to our class."

Han Meng: "Let's just sit down and chat, but you have to give me face, okay? How about we go out for dinner together this weekend?"

Since things had come to this point, Tong Daqi didn't dare refuse Han Meng; he actually quite enjoyed spending time with her. So, Daqi said, "There's a Party class on Saturday, teacher, are you free on Sunday?"

Han Meng: "Okay, let's do it Sunday morning. We'll discuss the details by phone."

Daqi: "Okay, I'll listen to Teacher Han."

Han Meng: "That's all for now, bye!"

Daqi: "Goodbye, teacher!"

After hanging up the phone, Daqi felt exceptionally happy. He knew Han Meng must be thrilled because the department had given her such a high evaluation of her teaching. He also understood how crucial his timely adjustment of Han Meng's teaching methods had been to this evaluation. He felt like a genius!

On Friday night, Xiaoling and Daqi were making out intimately at their place. As they made out, they talked. Xiaoling said, "Master, let's go to the Party class together tomorrow." Daqi, while nudging Xiaoling, said, "Okay, okay, whose class is it?" Xiaoling replied breathlessly, "The class of the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy and the Principal of the Party School." Daqi said, "Alright, I'll go with you." Xiaoling said, "Master, without you, I can't do anything. With you, I can do anything." Daqi, also in high spirits, said heavily, "Then be a good girl and always listen to me." Xiaoling said sweetly, "Of course, Ling'er is willing to always listen to you!" Daqi was overjoyed; he loved it when a beautiful woman so earnestly expressed her feelings to him. He was a typical chauvinist!

On Saturday, the two went to the Party School hand in hand for a Party class. The students attending this Party School were all among the top performers in their respective departments. Xiaoling was the acting president of the student union for the broadcasting department, the most popular department in the entire school. Combined with Xiaoling's beauty and sex appeal, they attracted considerable attention. Upon seeing Daqi, Li Xianming immediately greeted him, "Big brother, what brings you here?" Daqi replied, "I'm accompanying my little sister to a Party class to receive some Party education. Did you get into the Party School?" Li Xianming said, "There are three of us in our class, and I didn't see your name on the list." Daqi explained, "My little sister is the president of the broadcasting department's student union. She asked me to come along, so I did." Li Xianming quickly greeted Xiaoling, "Hello, President Lin!" Xiaoling asked, "Hello, and you are?" Daqi said, "I'm Li Xianming, the class monitor of my literature class." Xiaoling immediately extended her hand to greet him, "Nice to meet you, nice to meet you. You're the class monitor, so please take good care of my big brother!" Li Xianming said, "President Lin, you're too kind. I'll need your help, big brother." After exchanging pleasantries for a while, the three found seats. Just as Daqi and Xiaoling sat down, Su Beibei, the vice president of the broadcasting department, walked into the classroom. She spotted Xiaoling from afar and walked over to greet her, "Xiaoling, hello!" Xiaoling responded warmly, "Beibei, sit down, sit down, sit next to me." Su Beibei smiled and nodded, sitting down beside her. Daqi sat to Xiaoling's left, and Su Beibei to her right. The two student council presidents began chatting.

Su Beibei: "My goodness, this Party School is really hard to get into, there are only a few in each class. Xiaoling, you're amazing, you actually got first place in the whole school!" Xiaoling smiled and said, "It was just an impromptu performance, but your score is also very high, I think you're in the top three in our department." Su Beibei smiled and said, "I'm no match for you." Xiaoling said, "Beibei, let me introduce you. This is my older brother, Tong Daqi." Daqi greeted Su Beibei: "Hello, Chairwoman Su!" Su Beibei said, "You're Tong Daqi, it's a pleasure to meet you. Every cadre in our Broadcasting Department's student union knows you. You're our Chairman Lin's top advisor!"

What?! I, Tong Daqi, have become the top advisor under my woman? Damn it, I'm Xiaoling's "Son of Heaven," she's her emperor, not her advisor! But, sigh... if that's what others say, there's nothing I can do about it.

Unexpectedly, Xiaoling immediately said, "Beibei, my older brother is my mentor, not just my advisor. He guides me forward!" Su Beibei smiled and said, "Daqi is clearly a very intelligent person. Xiaoling, you are so lucky to have such a capable assistant!"

Assistant? Damn it, I, Tong Daqi, am an assistant again. Hey, Su Beibei, if you come to our house, you'll see who's whose assistant really is.

Daqi smiled and said, "Chairman Su, you flatter me. I am just an ordinary person, unlike you two who are both incredibly prestigious student council presidents." Both girls laughed.

Daqi thought Su Beibei was also a great beauty. Slightly shorter than Xiaoling, she was still a good 1.68 meters tall. She had slightly wavy hair, an oval face, willow-leaf eyebrows, bright eyes, cherry lips, a long neck, a high bust, a slender waist, and a pert bottom. It should be said that Su Beibei and Xiaoling were beauties of the same caliber. Both beauties exuded a hint of domineering presence; otherwise, they wouldn't have both become leaders of the broadcasting department's student council.

Su Beibei always looked at Daqi with curiosity. She thought: How could Lin Xiaoling's level be better than mine? Although she is pretty. Other classmates often say that she has a very capable guy by her side, and Xiaoling is doing so well in the broadcasting department because of that guy. But seeing this guy today, he doesn't seem so great. Today, I'm going to see just how capable this Tong Daqi really is.

Daqi noticed out of the corner of his eye that Su Beibei had been secretly observing him. He knew this wasn't the kind of flirtatious glances, but something else entirely. He wasn't sure what it meant, but it was probably related to her work in the student council. Meanwhile, Xiaoling would occasionally talk to both Daqi and Su Beibei.

Xiaoling isn't stupid; she's quite clever. But she knows she's inferior to Su Beibei in many ways. However, she's not afraid of Su Beibei at all today. Because Daqi is right beside her!

Class began, and He Zhiming, the principal of the Party School and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the college, gave the lecture. Since it was the opening ceremony of the Party School, everyone stood and sang the national anthem at the beginning. After the anthem, Deputy Secretary He began his lecture. Everyone listened attentively, taking notes diligently. About fifteen minutes into the lecture, Deputy Secretary He asked the students a question: "Students, I have a question for you. Let's see if anyone can answer it. I ask you, in the last century, the 20th century, what were the two most significant events in the history of the international communist movement? Anyone who can answer, please stand up!" The entire room was silent; everyone looked at each other. Only one person remained calm, which was obviously Daqi. Deputy Secretary He asked the question three times, but still no one could stand up and answer.

Deputy Secretary He said, "Alright then, I've heard that many of you here are student union presidents or vice presidents from your respective departments. I'll call on you student leaders. Student union president or vice president of the Literature Department, please stand up and answer." As soon as he finished speaking, a student stood up, but he stammered and couldn't answer. Deputy Secretary He said, "Student union president or vice president of the Art Department?" Two students looked at each other, and Daqi realized that one was definitely the Art Department's student union president, and the other vice president. One of them stood up and shook his head, while the other stood up, thought for a moment, and said, "The victory of the Xinhai Revolution and… and…"

My goodness, how did the history of the international communist movement get involved in the Xinhai Revolution of the Chinese bourgeoisie? Daqi wanted to laugh when he heard this.

Deputy Secretary He shook his head and said, "The head of the production department, stand up and answer." At this moment, Xiaoling and Su Beibei panicked, exchanging glances. Su Beibei was at her wit's end. She whispered, "Xiaoling, you're doomed. I don't know, do you?" Xiaoling was about to speak when Daqi nudged her with his elbow. She turned around and saw Daqi handing her a note. She opened it, smiled slightly, and said, "I don't know, but my older brother does. Beibei, our broadcasting department is going to be in the spotlight again today." Su Beibei looked at Tong Daqi incredulously, and Daqi smiled slightly at her.

Vice Secretary He kept shaking his head. Finally, he said, "Alright, there's still one left—the Broadcasting Department. I hope I won't be disappointed this time." As soon as he finished speaking, Xiao Ling immediately stood up and said, "Reporting to the school leaders, the two major events you asked about are the victory of the October Revolution in Russia and the collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe in the late 1980s." Vice Secretary He's eyes lit up and he said, "Good, good, good, a very good answer! Not bad, not bad. It seems the student union president of the Broadcasting Department has a good understanding of Party building theory. Do you usually read books on this subject?" Xiao Ling smiled slightly and said, "I read a little bit occasionally." Vice Secretary He smiled and said, "Please sit down. It seems our school still has some talented people! I've been the principal of the Party School for ten years, and I ask this question to every new student. Finally, someone has answered it. Let's continue the lecture." Xiao Ling

From the moment she stood up to answer the question until she sat down, everyone's eyes were on her. After she sat down, she gave Daqi a thumbs-up under the table and whispered, "Big brother, you're absolutely a genius!" Su Beibei stared blankly at Tong Daqi.

Su Beibei thought to herself: Today I've truly witnessed the abilities of this mysterious figure—Tong Daqi. I, Su Beibei, have nothing to say; he really is impressive. Sigh, why is he so destined to be with Xiaoling, and not by my side? If he were here to help me, I reckon I'd be the chairperson in this student representative election, not just the vice-chairperson under Xiaoling.

Xiaoling thought to herself: My master is an incredibly sharp "battle sword," and his talent is unparalleled! No wonder Sister Qiwen and the others loved him so deeply back then! I feel the same way; I'm willing to stay with him for the rest of my life.

Daqi thought to himself: "Such a trivial question, and no one in university has been able to answer it for ten years in a row. I, Tong Daqi, even if I don't want to be a genius, I have to admit, I'm a fucking genius!"

Su Beibei asked Xiaoling softly, "Xiaoling, can I ask for your older brother's phone number?" Xiaoling nodded slightly, looking very proud. Su Beibei wrote a note and asked Xiaoling to give it to Daqi, who was listening attentively to the lesson. Suddenly, Xiaoling nudged him with her elbow and handed him a note. He curiously opened it and read the following:

"Brother, could you tell me your phone number? Please put your phone on vibrate mode too. —Su Beibei"

Daqi didn't think much of it and gave the following reply:

"Of course! 135******25, I've put it on vibrate mode, and it's been like this since I entered university. It will definitely be like this until graduation. —Tong Daqi"

Daqi handed the note to Xiaoling, who then passed it to Su Beibei. Su Beibei opened the note, chuckled softly, and exclaimed, "Pfft!" A moment later, Daqi's phone vibrated. He opened it and took a look.

Su Beibei: This is Su Beibei. Can you save my number and name on your phone right now?

Daqi: Of course, Chairman Su.

The two then started texting, allowing Daqi to multitask. He took notes while attentively listening to Deputy Secretary He's lecture, and texted the lovely Su Beibei at the same time. Xiaoling knew they were texting, but she couldn't be bothered to pay attention. The two continued their constant texting:

Su Beibei: Don't call me Chairman Su. Xiaoling calls you Big Brother, so I'll call you Big Brother too. You can just call me Little Sister.

Daqi: Su Xiaomei? The great woman of talent from the Song Dynasty! It's a pleasure to meet you!

Su Beibei: You're so funny. How can I compare to Su Dongpo's sister?

Daqi: You're also a talented woman from the broadcasting department! I've heard so much about you.

Su Beibei: I wouldn't dare call myself a talented woman; I'm just trying to make a living. I heard you often go to the library to read. Which section do you read?

Daqi: I often visit the open-shelf book section C, and I frequently visit the reading room section B, but I rarely go anywhere else.

Su Beibei: Can I ask you questions later?

Daqi: I wouldn't presume to ask for your advice, but we can certainly discuss things together.

Su Beibei: I usually like to read novels, what about you?

Daqi: Xiaoling also loves to watch it, but I rarely watch it. I prefer to read Chinese historical classics or works by the Hundred Schools of Thought.
