If she were of normal temperament, she would have screamed long ago. An Xin's fingers gripping the window frame suddenly tightened. A headless corpse was facing her. It clearly had no head, yet why did she feel that it was looking at her?
An Xin braced herself against the window frame with both hands and suddenly jumped out!
The headless corpse turned and ran.
Its movements were stiff, yet it leaped into the air like a bouncing ball, and in a few quick leaps, it was out of the yard!
An Xin quickly gave chase, but unable to climb the wall, she turned around, opened the courtyard gate, and rushed out! Surprisingly, the headless corpse stopped, and upon seeing An Xin, it turned and ran forward.
An Xin narrowed her eyes. This was too eerie! This headless corpse was actually waiting for her?!
Why wait for her? Is there a conspiracy?! What conspiracy could a headless corpse possibly have?! But even if there is a conspiracy, she has to chase after her!
An Xin kept walking. The empty street and the pale moonlight made the bluestone road look empty and white. Strangely, a headless corpse was running ahead, and a woman was chasing behind.
An Xin chased the headless corpse all the way to the dead end, and then it vanished! The pale moonlight illuminated everything in the alley; in the blink of an eye, the headless corpse had disappeared!?
An Xin frowned. She felt those eyes again, staring at her, making her feel uncomfortable all over and giving her the creeps. Why did that headless corpse lead her here?
Why did it disappear again after being brought here?
Why specifically lure her in?
A series of questions arose, but An Xin did not take another step forward. She vaguely sensed a murderous intent. The headless corpse was about seven feet tall and looked like a man. Could what the woman said be true? The group of men in black killed this man, and then this man came back to life!?
An Xin's gaze swept carefully over every corner of the alley. She had thoroughly investigated the alley during the day but found nothing unusual. Moreover, it was already late, and if she went forward rashly and something irreversible happened, it would be a loss that outweighed the gain!
An Xin turned around under that strange gaze and walked away step by step.
The capital city was bathed in the pale moonlight. An Xin's shadow stretched long in the moonlight. On the quiet street, only the soft sound of her footsteps could be heard. An Xin walked for a long time, then raised her eyelashes and looked up at the rooftop. The man standing there had long, ink-black hair and wore a purple brocade robe as if in a dream. The folding fan in his hand was embroidered with colorful patterns, obscuring half of his face.
An Xin said, "What are you doing climbing onto the roof in the middle of the night?!"
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "Want to enjoy the moon together?"
An Xin rolled her eyes at him and said, "We can't get up there!"
Yan Zhen landed with a swift movement, cupped her face, and kissed her, saying, "I saw you chasing zombies just now, and I thought it was quite interesting, much more interesting than moon-gazing."
An Xin's lips twitched as she glared at him: "You saw it and you didn't even help me stop it!?"
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "When I went to stop it, the corpse disappeared."
An Xin's eyes darkened, and she said in a low voice, "When I woke up, it was standing outside my window." Was this some kind of horror movie?! She never expected to encounter something so terrifying in real life!
"Come with me to the Prime Minister's residence these next few days; it's too dangerous for you to go alone." Yan Zhen's gaze deepened, and he casually took her hand.
An Xin said calmly, "I'm not going."
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "Okay."
Perhaps because this person was used to being apart from An Xin, his sudden friendliness made An Xin feel a little uncomfortable. She looked at him in surprise and asked, "Really?"
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "Really?"
An Xin glanced at him suspiciously, but then stopped thinking about it and waved her hand, saying, "I'm going back. I ran out before the gate was closed. You can go back now."
Yan Zhen, holding her wrist, replied with a smile, "I'll take you."
Just as An Xin was about to refuse, Yan Zhen changed the subject, saying, "The first part of the seawater will arrive in the capital tomorrow. I will have someone carefully release the seawater into Duanfeng Lake, and the sea salt will arrive in three days."
An Xin was taken aback: "So fast?"
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "Since all the checkpoints along the way are clear, we naturally need to be quick."
An Xin breathed a slight sigh of relief. Once the seawater and sea salt arrived, the hidden danger on the top of Duanfeng Mountain would be resolved. Moreover, with Yan Zhen and Jing Lan there, she didn't need to worry about the issue of adding sea salt and seawater. What she should be worried about now was the headless corpse. After all, no one would feel comfortable being targeted by a headless corpse.
"I always felt that the headless corpse was something special. Did you see how fast it ran? Although its posture was a bit strange, it was incredibly fast!"
"Hmm, what if it really is a corpse?" Yan Zhen's eyes flickered slightly as she glanced at An Xin.
An Xin chuckled twice, but it was purely mockery: "How could that be! Sir, anyone with a brain would think that the headless corpse was just someone playing a trick on you."
"Is that so?" Yan Zhen smiled, her smile taking on a shimmering beauty under the moonlight, which startled An Xin slightly.
"We're here." Yan Zhen casually pushed open the door. An Xin suddenly snapped back to reality, hurriedly entered the mansion, and was about to close the door when Yan Zhen stopped her. An Xin looked at his hand and then at him, saying, "What are you doing!?"
Yan Zhen said, "Go in and sit down."
An Xin twitched her lips: "Don't you have any sense of being a guest? How can you expect to come in and sit down without being invited by the host?"
Yan Zhen smiled and said, "If you're not going, I'll just come over. It's the same thing." She squeezed in, closed the door behind her, and put her arm around An Xin, saying, "I'm afraid of the dark. Let's sleep together tonight."
An Xin said with a dark face, "My lord, it's not dark outside to admire the moon. Get out of here and go admire the moon!"
Yan Zhen, with practiced ease, pushed open her door, pulled her inside, and pressed her against the door. He leaned down and kissed her, saying, "More than admiring the moon, I prefer to admire you..." His fingertips slid from her cheek down her neck, then to her chest, whispering, "Admire here, here, and here..."
An's face suddenly flushed red, a rare occurrence. She felt his fingertips slide down her cheeks and neck, a tingling, electric sensation spreading throughout her body. Tonight, Yan Zhen's eyebrows and eyes were exceptionally beautiful, his pupils, hidden behind long eyelashes, shimmering with a watery brilliance, captivating her gaze.
An Xin froze for a moment, until the hand slid down from her chest and moved downwards. Only then did An Xin suddenly come to her senses. Instinctively, she jerked her head forward, bumping right into Yan Zhen's chin. Yan Zhen winced in pain. An Xin climbed onto the bed expressionlessly and said, "I also really like rewarding you. Next time, I'll reward you with the sole of my shoe!"
Yan Zhen was both amused and exasperated. Such a beautiful day, and this woman couldn't even lift a finger to be romantic?!

An Xin slept very soundly. When she woke up, it was almost noon. She was still groggy when a pair of hands reached out and picked her up. An Xin, who was still groggy, woke up instantly.
She lingered in bed for no more than a minute, and when she did get up, she was suddenly picked up, which startled her, and her eyes widened in surprise.
