Глава 4

Just as Wen Yuhan dodged several of Yu Wanli's wild punches and was about to take the opportunity to escape.

With a "crack," the glass bottle on the table was grabbed and slammed down on Yu Wanli's head.

"ah--"

The dark brown liquor mixed with shards of glass instantly covered Yu Wanli from head to toe, dripping down incessantly.

The half-bottle, held in my hand, reflected the flickering light from the television screen, and was carelessly tossed into a corner, where it rolled a few times.

"Your skills are really poor now," Pei Shaocheng said coldly, his back to Wen Yu.

Before Wen Yuhan could reply, Pei Shaocheng picked him up and kicked the door shut, shutting out Yu Wanli and his wailing and cursing.

Chapter 4

A black Rolls-Royce sped through the night, heading from the airport highway toward the city.

Inside the car, Pei Shaocheng's assistant Emily and the driver Xiao Wu exchanged glances, neither daring to speak.

The atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

Wen Yuhan remained calm, leaning back in her seat and pulling out her phone to send Xiao Yang a message, telling him to call a taxi home. But as soon as she turned on the screen, a hand snatched it away and pressed the power button.

Seeing that remaining silent wasn't a solution, Emily mustered her courage and asked Wen Yuhan, "Teacher Wen, what brings you here today?"

Wen Yuhan smiled with her eyes half-closed: "Subway, Line 8 to Line 10."

"Oh, haha." Emily nodded awkwardly. "Tell me your address, and we'll deliver it to you..."

"Return to Tiansheng," Pei Shaocheng interrupted directly.

Emily was taken aback for a moment, but still obediently let Xiao Wu change the location.

Tiansheng is Pei Shaocheng's house in the city. He doesn't usually like to live there, so it's always empty, and he regularly has someone come to clean it.

Wen Yuhan sighed, pressed her hand against her aching stomach, and said weakly to Pei Shaocheng, "I have things to do tomorrow."

Pei Shaocheng seemed not to hear him, opened the window, lit a cigarette, and smoked silently.

“Pei…”

"Shut up."

Emily and Xiao Wu both felt a chill run down their spines upon hearing this, as they remembered that Pei Shaocheng rarely acted this way before getting angry.

This time, however, it seems to be more serious than ever before.

As the car entered the underground parking lot, Pei Shaocheng pushed open the car door, grabbed Wen Yuhan's arm and dragged her out. Without turning his head, he briefly told Emily, "You don't need to worry about Yu Wanli's matter, I will handle it."

After saying that, he pushed Wen Yuhan into the elevator and closed the elevator door.

The electronic lock beeped, and the lights in the house turned on at the same time.

Wen Yuhan was startled by the bright light and squinted. Before he could react, Pei Shaocheng threw him directly into the bathroom.

A flicker of panic crossed Wen Yuhan's eyes, and he instinctively wanted to run. But Pei Shaocheng's hand had already reached behind his head, grabbed his casually tied hair, and pulled it back.

“Ugh…” Wen Yuhan’s head was forced to tilt back.

Immediately afterwards, water sprayed from the showerhead and gushed down onto his face.

Wen Yuhan's shoulders were gripped tightly and pressed against the sink, facing a gleaming, transparent mirror. Pei Shaocheng, holding a showerhead, glared menacingly at Wen Yuhan's face.

While struggling, a button on his shirt snapped off, and he rolled from the sink into the drain.

Water got into her nasal cavity, and Wen Yuhan coughed violently. Her eyes also became misty from the irritation.

"Pei Shaocheng, you son of a bitch... let go of me!"

Faced with Wen Yuhan's angry curses, Pei Shaocheng slammed the showerhead against the corner of the wall.

He forcefully turned Wen Yuhan's face towards the mirror, suppressing his anger as he forced out the words, "Take a good look at yourself! You've become like this!"

Wen Yuhan's body trembled as she inevitably looked at herself in the mirror.

Water droplets dripped down her hair, and beneath her bloodshot eyes were dark circles under her eyes.

Indeed, it was pathetic and ugly...

Pei Shaocheng was also soaked, and his eyes held not only anger but also confusion as he looked at Wen Yuhan.

"I really don't understand you... You know Yu Wanli has ulterior motives, yet you still insist on getting close to him. Who would actually talk to you about a project in that kind of situation? Are you brain-dead?!"

"Sister Ying was also in the room at the time. There are many people in the circle who want to get close to her, and I can't let this opportunity go to waste."

“Wen Yuhan…” Pei Shaocheng gripped Wen Yuhan’s shoulders tightly and asked in a low voice, “Is it really necessary?”

“It’s not that serious for you.” Wen Yuhan avoided Pei Shaocheng’s gaze and said softly, “These connections and projects, even if you, Pei Shaocheng, never bother to take them, will be presented to you by others.”

He paused, then continued, "But I'm not like that. Even if there's only a 'what if,' I have to fight tooth and nail for it; this is my chance to turn my life around."

After speaking, Wen Yuhan shook his head and smiled: "Forget it, there's no use saying all this now. I just wanted to scare that guy surnamed Yu, but you smashed him with that bottle and really hurt him. Luckily, the occasion was relatively private... Anyway, let's figure out a solution as soon as possible."

Are you blaming me?

Wen Yuhan sighed: "I told you, with Yu Wanli's short-lived appearance due to being drained of his essence by a beautiful ghost, he can't do anything to me."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Pei Shaocheng slammed his fist heavily on the sink in front of him.

"Do you know that the gang of stuntmen who hang out with Yu Wanli live next door? If he just makes a phone call and summons them over, your pathetic skills wouldn't even be enough to be an appetizer for them!"

Pei Shaocheng's fist was immediately broken from the heavy blow, with bright red flesh showing on his knuckles. His chest heaved violently, feeling like he was about to be driven mad by the person in front of him.

Only this person could bring him back to his original state every time, making him lose his composure and become embarrassed.

Taking advantage of Pei Shaocheng's loosening of his grip, Wen Yuhan used the sink to support himself as he stood up. His face was still wet; he sniffed and slowly moved towards the bathroom exit.

"where did you go!"

"I'm tired, let's go home and sleep." Wen Yuhan bent down to pick up the phone that Pei Shaocheng had thrown at the door, turned it on, and dialed Xiao Yang's number.

The call was connected immediately.

"Hey teacher, where are you?!"

Wen Yuhan looked up and peered through the floor-to-ceiling window to see the night view outside; it was the TV tower.

"I'm in the north..."

Snap—

The phone was snatched away and smashed to the ground.

Xiao Yang's voice, along with the phone screen, shattered into pieces in an instant.

Wen Yuhan was grabbed by the collar and thrown onto the bed by Pei Shaocheng. Immediately afterwards, a huge shadow pressed down on him.

"Pei Shaocheng! What are you doing..."

Before Wen Yuhan could finish speaking, she stopped abruptly when she saw the other person's eyes.

Dark and violent, yet buried deep within, it also conceals vulnerability and sorrow.

Memories suddenly flooded back; the last time Pei Shaocheng had shown such an expression was probably when they broke up.

The other person never actually laid a hand down on that raised palm.

This time, however, Pei Shaocheng gave Wen Yuhan no chance to escape.

He had completely lost his mind, roughly unbuckled Wen Yuhan's belt while hurling insults: "At a time like this, you're still thinking about men? Wen Yuhan, how can you... how can you be so lewd..."

"Damn it, let go!"

The moment the trousers were pulled down, the nib of the fountain pen, gleaming with a metallic sheen, plunged deep into the back of Pei Shaocheng's hand.

Blood beads instantly appeared from the skin.

Wen Yuhan's pupils dilated, and he breathed heavily.

However, instead of calming Pei Shaocheng down, the pain only fueled the violent tendencies within him.

Pei Shaocheng snatched the pen from Wen Yuhan's hand, about to smash it aside. But when he touched the pen's body, he suddenly froze.

It was a black Montblanc with a row of small words engraved in gold foil.

You are my whole world.

And so, everything froze at that moment.

That Christmas, Pei Shaocheng used his savings from several months of scrimping and saving to buy this fountain pen. When he gave it to Wen Yuhan, the latter both laughed at him for being wasteful and carefully wiped away a small fingerprint on the pen with a velvet cloth.

Once the memories are touched, they begin to surge forth uncontrollably.

Each one is so vivid, so clear in my mind...

Pei Shaocheng stared at the pen in his hand, almost unconsciously stammering, "You've kept it all this time..."

The overhead light was blindingly bright, and Wen Yuhan raised an arm to shield her eyes, her body still heaving from the fierce resistance she had just endured.

Finally, he slightly curled his lips: "After all, it's worth several thousand yuan. It would be such a waste to throw it away."

As Wen Yuhan spoke, she shuffled up, zipped up her jacket, and re-fastened her belt. Without looking up, she straightened her crumpled shirt and said to Pei Shaocheng:

"I originally planned to resell it secondhand, but people thought it was outdated and nobody would buy it... If you want to keep it as a souvenir, I'll give it to you."

Pei Shaocheng stared silently at Wen Yuhan, the brief warmth in his eyes fading again at the other's words, gradually turning cold.

He couldn't understand it at all. This person always wrote about the warm spring days of April, using the gentlest of rhetoric, so why did his words become so cold and indifferent when he spoke?
