Geistergrab einer buddhistischen Pagode - Kapitel 71
The black dot smiled mysteriously: "A Christmas surprise."
The secret helper told him: the boy wouldn't come willingly. Just moments before, Black Dot had been worried about how to convince "Little White" that it was God's calling. But the secret helper gave them a useful piece of advice: the boy wouldn't come unless everyone else came with him.
See how easy it is? They didn't even know what the surprise was, but they were still willing to go with him.
Jumarin told her daughter, "Walter is definitely making preparations."
But Esme still didn't look at her.
"We need to hurry."
The black dot signaled for them to board the boat quickly. A few minutes later, the two boats sped across the lake. The cool breeze soothed their earlier unpleasantness, and their throats, irritated by the cigar smoke, felt better.
I was sitting at the bow of a boat, shouting warnings for them to turn back, but they couldn't hear me.
We traversed the islands filled with hyacinths, entering one narrow cove after another. The waterways meandered like a waterlogged forest maze. After countless bends, the small boat drifted onto a makeshift ramp made of reeds, topped with treadless truck tires.
Are you sure you can get through like this?
Heidi said she was going to climb out.
The black dot replied, "Very safe."
Mo Fei was the first to jump out and reach out to help everyone. They formed a line and made their way through the gap in the reeds.
The mosquitoes were stirred up by their footsteps. They kept slapping their thighs, and Heidi pulled out a can of DEET, which everyone gratefully shared. Vera, wearing platform sandals, sprayed the repellent on her feet.
Further in, there was a dirt road, and a truck was parked sideways there.
Benny exclaimed in surprise, "That car is at least fifty years old!"
Two young men waved to them. They seemed to know Blackspot and the veteran well. They came up and discussed something with each other.
They actually knew each other. The truck driver, nicknamed "Oil," was Black Spot's cousin. The other man, nicknamed "Fishbone," was the one who had led the small boat the day before, carrying luggage.
The Road to Heaven (2)
My friends noticed that all four of them were acting strangely, frequently showing signs of nervousness.
Rupert pointed at "The Slick" and said to Murphy, "Hey, that's the guy who asked me to do card tricks. What's he doing here again?"
“It can’t be the same person,” Mo Fei quickly told his son to stop. “That person is on the other side of the lake, while we are on this side.”
“We were there before, but now we’re here.”
Rupert waved his arm toward the truck driver. When the oily man saw him, he waved back.
Black Dot returned to the tourists and said, "Now we're going to climb into the truck and go to a very special place. There are some really good shows up there."
