Kapitel 5

This invisible darkness, like an unseen monster, is quietly baring its fangs, preparing to take a vicious bite upon landing.

Lu Shi's breathing became rapid. He seemed to see a dark shadow pressing down on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.

Despite not being afraid of the dark, his body reacted.

Driven by his survival instinct, Lu Shi retreated almost immediately.

All the discomfort disappeared after he left the corridor.

Lu Shi didn't need to look in a mirror to know that his face must be deathly pale.

Darkness, terrifying darkness, pitch-black darkness. Lu Shi recalled some unpleasant memories, shook his head, and forced himself to forget them all.

"Maybe I should just go back. It's just digging a hole, which is better than dying." This was the first time Lu Shi had wavered.

However, this idea did not last long before he rejected it.

"How can I know where my limits are if I don't face challenges head-on?"

Lu Shi took a deep breath and stepped back into the darkness.

The oppressive feeling arrived as expected, and he even smelled a stench, the stench released by some kind of rotting creature.

When Lu Shi tried to run out of the corridor as quickly as possible, he found that his legs were as if they were tied with jacks, and he couldn't take a step no matter what.

Should we turn back?

Lu Shi immediately shut out this thought and continued forward.

These things are just trying to scare him; they can't kill him at all.

After repeatedly telling himself this, Lu Shi found that the suffocating fear he had just felt had lessened considerably.

He had only taken three steps; there was still a long way to go before he reached the end of the corridor.

As he took action again, Lu Shi heard a woman's voice in his ear.

Her tone was extremely angry, and every nasal sound she uttered was tinged with tears:

"They ran over my son with their car and killed him, why aren't they sentenced to death! I just want to see all three of them die!"

The voice seemed to have the power to influence emotions; when Lu Shi heard the woman's words, his mood actually plummeted.

Looking up, Lu Shi saw a woman appear out of nowhere in front of him.

Lu Shi reached out and passed his hand directly through her body.

This is a ghost. Lu Shi saw the woman raise her head. The tears in her eyes had dried up, and now there were two dried bloodstains hanging at the corners of her eyes.

"They're still alive, right?"

"Who are you talking about?" Lu Shi asked.

"Three bald men, they were drunk and drove and killed my son! Are they still alive?!" The woman's voice gradually became hysterical. She covered her mouth in anguish, but still could not control her immense grief and vomited on the ground.

Lu Shi fell silent. He already knew who these three men were; they were the very people he had asked.

But he seemed unable to help the woman and could only remain silent.

As he moved forward again, he found that the feeling of constraint on his feet had lessened somewhat.

The woman didn't stop him, but soon started repeating the same words again.

The second soul to appear in the darkness also heard the sound first.

This time it was the sound of a ball rolling on the floor, and Lu Shi clearly felt a ball hit his ankle.

"Brother, can you see my head?"

Her voice was clear and melodious, with a touch of childlike innocence. However, what she said sounded somewhat frightening.

Lu Shi bent down, picked up the severed head, and asked calmly, "Is this it?"

“I don’t know,” said a headless ghost who walked up to Lu Shi. It was about 1.2 meters tall and wearing a floral dress. “I only found out after I put it on.”

The ghost reached out its hand—a pair of slender, fragile arms—and, with practiced ease, placed the severed head on the empty neck.

It even rotated for a while, making sure it was completely installed perfectly, before looking at Lu Shi.

This is a very cute little girl: "Thank you, big brother. Ever since my head was chopped off by an axe, it has been very easy for it to fall off."

"Who did this?" Lu Shi asked, though he had already guessed that the murderer was definitely in the cell.

“Uncle Zhang next door, he seems to be mentally ill, the kind with a certificate.” The little girl sighed, “That day he came to my house, knocked me unconscious, and then chopped off my head. Big brother, have you seen him? He was wearing a blue suit, and he kept repeating ‘I’m so tired.’”

Lu Shi didn't answer. He closed his eyes and began to recall every prisoner he had seen. It seemed there was indeed one person who matched the little girl's description.

So, was this long corridor actually formed by the resentment of the victims?

However, for various reasons, these prisoners were not executed, but instead lingered on in their cells.

He quickly left the little girl; he needed to gather more information.

The number of people in the newcomer hall has finally stabilized at a stable level. People come and go occasionally, but the total number doesn't change much.

"Is this some hidden content? I didn't come here when I cleared the dungeon."

"Yeah, I was a newbie back then, so I just dug the hole quietly. Who would dare to come out and wander around!"

"This is a checkpoint. I remember the Nightingale Goddess also went through here. This checkpoint tests your mental fortitude. If you're not careful, you'll be haunted by resentment and never be able to get out!"

"The streamer is truly heartless! I almost cried listening to the little girl's story, and I wanted to turn around and kill that criminal. He just left!"

"You guys just realized? The streamer has always been so cold-hearted! If the distemper dog hadn't protected him first, I doubt the streamer would have cared about a dog at all!"

"You were the ones who said the streamer was soft-hearted before, and now you're the ones saying the streamer is heartless! Watch closely how the streamer clears the game!"

"You really think clearing the game is that easy? The streamer chose the hardest way to clear it, and could fail at any moment!"

Lu Shi heard the audience's curses this time because the person had specifically sent a gift so that Lu Shi could hear it.

"Cold-blooded and ruthless?" Lu Shi chuckled lightly. "Is that so? I am the Demon Lord, the villain."

Of course, no one in the live stream took his words seriously.

The third soul arrived quickly, but this time it wasn't even a complete person; only a bloodless arm lay on the ground.

"Tick-tock, tick-tock..."

Blood dripped from the ceiling, blooming right on Lu Shi's cheek like a blood-stained rose.

However, behind the beauty lies cruelty. When Lu Shi looked up, he saw a bloody, mangled face that had blended into the ceiling.

"He killed me! How can he still be alive and well! He's only a year away from being released from prison, I'm not reconciled!"

"Tap...tap..." Another hand and a leg crawled over.

Lu Shi immediately understood: the person on the ceiling had been dismembered. "Who killed you?"

“My husband, he looks... a lot like you…”

A note from the author:

I have something to do tomorrow, I'll update the day after tomorrow;

Thank you so much for your support! I will continue to work hard!

Chapter 6

☪ Plague Prison

Do you look like me?

There wasn't even a hint of panic on Lu Shi's handsome face, as if he already knew about it.

His attitude infuriated the accusing ghost, and its disorganized limbs began to tremble restlessly.

Lu Shi remained calm for a simple reason: he knew very well that the other party was referring to the actions of the body inhabited by his soul.

Since he is also a member of the prison, he must have "committed a crime" to be locked up.

The only thing he hadn't expected was that the man was so wicked, committing such a heinous act. Did this mysterious person who brought him back from the dead also consider him a ruthless demon lord?

"You killed me, didn't you!" The face on the ceiling screamed hoarsely. Her voice had the power to pierce through eardrums and reach your nerves, causing Lu Shi to cover his ears in pain.

Why did you do this! You promised me you'd always be good to me when you married me!

More and more tears of blood dripped from that face, but Lu Shi did not flinch, letting them fall onto his face.

If this can make the wronged spirit feel a little better.

"I'm sorry, I really forgot." Lu Shi walked here and he could tell that the ghosts in the corridor were different from the jailers.

They didn't appear to be offensive and caused him no damage whatsoever.

However, they possess methods of psychological attack, and their accusations can cause immense psychological burden to those who hear them.

Especially when the murderer is yourself, a person with strong moral values and a high sense of justice might suddenly collapse in such a situation.

Fortunately, Lu Shi has a strong enough mental fortitude.

After all, as a demon lord, he had been subjected to far too many condemnations and accusations.

"Forgot?" The previously mangled face merged back together at this moment, leaving a beautiful, sorrowful face hanging alone on the ceiling.

Anyone who sees this scene will feel sorry for this woman.

Many female viewers in the live stream couldn't bear to watch anymore; many of them had never even been inside that corridor. Just seeing this scene through the live stream made them feel suffocated and guilty.

They couldn't help but think that if they were in this instance, they would probably already be contemplating suicide to atone for their sins.

If they actually do that, they'll die in this instance.

Everyone knows that in the game of Infinite Wishes, once you die, you can never be resurrected.

"This dungeon is way too difficult for normal people! If you ask me, anyone who can walk through this corridor without showing any expression is a psychopath!"

"The streamer doesn't seem to be affected at all. It's true that handsome people don't have much empathy."

"This is ridiculous for a newbie dungeon; they don't even have any items. If they exceed the threshold, they'll probably go crazy."

...

Lu Shi gazed at the face, his tone gentle: "I really can't remember. But since I killed you, why should you have any expectations of me now? Do you think I would apologize to you?"

The woman froze, glaring fiercely at Lu Shi. Her hands and feet, which had left her body, gripped Lu Shi's ankles, preventing him from leaving.
