Herzstaub - Kapitel 23
He asked in a calm tone that seemed inappropriate for the time of day, "Why?"
"Zhengyangzi, you've caused me so much suffering!"
Zheng Yangzi? Gu Feng racked his brains trying to recall this somewhat familiar name, but he couldn't remember where he had heard it before.
Shi Xin looked at Gu Feng, who was lost in confusion, and called out softly.
"antiquity!"
As if hearing the morning bell of an ancient temple, Gu Fenghuang, who was deep in thought, quickly came back to his senses!
"Huh?"
A gasp of surprise came from the ancient tomb.

Volume Two, Chapter Thirty-One: The Tomb of Human Bones
Gu Feng snapped out of his daze, but he didn't care about what the monster in the tomb was screaming about. He called out and was about to run back the way they came with Shi Xin when the car suddenly started up and blocked their way.
“Hehehe…” A chilling, extremely depressing laugh echoed from the earthen tomb. With their escape route blocked and hearing that terrifying laughter, the two of them felt a chill run down their spines.
Without thinking twice, Gu Feng grabbed Shi Xin and rushed into the dense forest. He thought that nothing could be more frightening than being trapped in that kind of hellish place.
The sun is now high overhead, but the forest is still very dark. The ground is covered with withered branches and leaves, which are soft and uncomfortable to walk on, as if you might sink into them at any moment.
After running through the forest for several hours, the view suddenly opened up, and the dense forest seemed to have come to an end. Gu Feng and his companion quickly stepped onto the land. The sun was shining on them, and although it was a bit hot, it was much better than the eerie feeling in the forest. However, before Gu Feng and his companion could be happy for long, their faces immediately fell.
It turned out that this was just a crescent-shaped clearing in the woods, spanning about five or six hundred meters, with another lush forest on the opposite side. (Thanks to reader "Diligent Fox" for providing the subject matter for this chapter.)
The two of them didn't want to continue experiencing that kind of torment. They should at least rest for a while before doing anything else. They sat down on the ground, feeling the warm sunshine. They had heard that ghosts were most afraid of the sun, so they thought they wouldn't rush out now.
Gu Feng tilted his head and listened, and heard the sound of flowing water. Looking around, he saw a ditch no more than a foot wide in the middle of the open space. He was thirsty and thought how wonderful it would be to drink some mountain spring water!
The two slowly walked towards the middle and then noticed something strange. Why was this place barren, with lush green forests all around, like a small Gobi Desert?
I can't worry about all that. Haven't I seen enough strange things these days?
The water in the ditch was crystal clear. I cupped my hands and drank it; it was incredibly sweet, far superior to the tap water in the city.
Shi Xin suddenly exclaimed, pointing at the white thing at the bottom of the ditch, speechless with surprise. Gu Feng, emboldened, reached out to pick it up and examine it, but when he pulled hard, it was just a small section protruding from the ground and he couldn't pull it out.
The ancient style looks strange; it looks so much like bones, especially leg bones!
Gu Feng suppressed his surprise and comforted Shi Xin, saying, "I wonder which wild buffalo was so unlucky that it fell to its death in such a small ditch."
Shi Xin stared blankly at the white bones: "Are they really cow bones?"
Gu Feng laughed and said, "Of course, would anyone die in this godforsaken place? Don't worry, I can tell the difference between human bones and cow bones."
Shi Xin smiled, while Gu Feng turned his face away and frowned deeply. Suddenly, he felt a warmth on his chest. Looking down, he saw that the amulet was emitting a faint yellow glow.
Strange, apart from the bone, I didn't find anything wrong with it.
Gu Feng believed in the power of the amulet more than he believed in himself. Since it had warned him, why was he still hesitating?
"Shixin, this place is unclean, let's go quickly."
Shi Xin looked at the glowing amulet on Gu Feng's chest, nodded, and immediately followed behind.
Gu Feng suddenly heard Shi Xin cry out behind him, as if she had tripped over something. He quickly went to help her up, thankfully she wasn't hurt anywhere. Strange, what could possibly trip someone up in such a flat place? He looked behind him.
"scare"
A human arm bone emerged from the ground, lying there upright, with only two of the five fingers still attached, apparently broken by Shixin's kick.
Gu Feng thought to himself that it was strange. He had been walking in front of him, so there was no reason why he couldn't see it. Could it be... that it had just emerged from the ground?
Gu Feng dared not think any further. Just moments ago it had been warm, but now he suddenly felt a chill. Gu Feng tightly grasped Shi Xin's delicate hand, still shaken, and resolved to leave this awful place as soon as possible.
He had only taken two steps when suddenly a hole about half a foot square appeared in the ground ahead. Before Gu Feng could even think, a black mist spewed out from it. He took a deep breath in a panic; it was a strange, indescribable smell. Before he could even cry out in his heart that something was wrong, his vision went black and he collapsed...
It got dark quickly. Gu Feng patted his groggy head and slowly woke up. As soon as he regained consciousness, he hurriedly called out to Shi Xin. Seeing that she had collapsed beside him, he felt a little relieved and helped her up. After calling her a few times, she also woke up.
Shi Xin glanced at Gu Feng dazedly: "What... what's wrong with us?"
Gu Feng shook his head blankly, then suddenly his eyes widened and he couldn't look away.
************************
What was a desolate open space during the day was now filled with eerie winds and flickering will-o'-the-wisps, and many white things were emerging from it. Skeletons!
The skulls were piled up like a mountain, completely surrounding the area. What made Gu Feng stare blankly was that the bones were trembling and slightly moving closer to him!
The amulet's light enveloped a two-meter square area of land. The skeleton seemed very wary and dared not get too close. The fact that Gu Feng and the other person were not devoured while unconscious must have been due to its effects.
Shi Xin clung close to him, and Gu Feng glanced at her with a serious expression, observing the situation.
Suddenly I noticed something strange: the skulls on those skeletons all had two extra holes above their eye sockets.
In the darkness, I could only see clearly with the faint light from the amulet. What's going on? Is he a four-eyed person?
Shi Xin suddenly screamed and jumped up. A hand was reaching out from the ground! Gu Feng quickly pulled Shi Xin behind him and kicked the bone, breaking it. Crackling sounds filled the air as more and more skeletons emerged from the ground. Some unlucky ones that ended up between Gu Feng's legs were destined to be crushed.
Gu Feng thought to himself that these bones had been buried for who knows how long, and were very rotten. He could easily kick them into four or five pieces. It wasn't so scary that they were scattered here and there, but if they all broke through the protective aura of the talisman, it was hard to say what would happen.
Shixin was so frightened that she couldn't speak. A chill ran down her spine, and she became extremely quiet in fear. She knew that she had been grabbed by a skeleton. Without daring to look at what it was, she kicked backward. She felt something hit her, and with a crisp sound, her bones shattered.
Before they could even celebrate for a moment, Gu Feng cried out in alarm, "Oh no!" They were about to fight to the death.
The skeletons pressed down relentlessly, turning to ashes the moment they touched the yellow light shield. As they continued to pour in, a thick layer of ashes had accumulated beneath the feet of Gu Feng and his companion.
If things continued like this, even if they didn't bite him to death, he would be buried alive in ashes. Gu Feng tried his best to keep his head clear and find a way out.
Ignoring the disgusting and bizarre sight of bones turning to dust just a meter away, Gu Feng slowly carried the amulet forward. However, after walking only about 20 meters, the ground beneath their feet softened and they suddenly sank into the ground.
The bones underground crawled out, and the gaps underneath grew larger and larger. When the soil could no longer support it, it collapsed with a crash, regardless of whether there was any ancient poetry or Marx on top.
My mind went blank. This was it; I was going to be buried alive here with these skeletons and become one of them.
Shi Xin suddenly shouted, "Gu Feng, look, what's that in the sky?"
A faint white light drifted over like the wind; it felt so familiar.

Chapter 32 of Volume 2: Understanding True Feelings
The sinking body suddenly stopped, and there was a strange feeling in the hand, as if it was being gripped by silk?
Gu Feng finally saw it clearly: wasn't that ancient corpse hanging in the sky?
Her face showed an extremely painful expression. Gu Feng immediately thought of the amulet's function and immediately gripped it tightly with his palm to prevent any spiritual light from leaking out.
The "ancient corpse" smiled at him, then pulled the wide-eyed Shi Xin and the dumbfounded Gu Feng through the open space.
Good heavens! Am I flying? Am I dreaming?
The roaring skeleton on the ground stretched out its hand to grab him, which was indeed terrifying. Gu Feng turned his head to the side. My God, what is that?
A skeleton, resembling a crucified image of Jesus in a church, rose into the air with its arms crossed. The ancient corpse didn't even glance at it, but instead emitted a ghostly white energy from its body, smashing the skeleton and sending it crashing to the ground.
The ancient-style secret passage makes me feel like I'm in a fog.
After a while, they slowly landed on a smooth, large rock on the mountain. Gu Feng looked at her, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "Thank you. If it weren't for you, we probably wouldn't be able to see the moon tonight."
The ancient corpse smiled slightly and did not answer Gu Feng. However, when Gu Feng mentioned the moon, it seemed as if he was recalling something from the past. He stared at the bright moon in silence.
Gu Feng looked down at the pale white light emanating from the mountainside, where skeletons lay sprawled on the ground, a scene of utter desolation and utter stillness. He turned to her and asked, "Where is this place? Why are so many people dead?"
The ancient corpse turned around, its sharp gaze seeming to pierce through Gu Feng's entire body. Gu Feng was startled and turned his head away.
"What? Is this a question that shouldn't be asked?"
The ancient corpse paused for a moment, then suddenly laughed and said, "No, no, I just suddenly felt that you resemble someone."
Gu Feng asked curiously, "Who?"
The female ghost scrutinized Gu Feng for a while longer.
The thought that the woman looking at him so intently was actually a ghost made Gu Feng feel quite uneasy.
She nodded slightly, then shook her head abruptly, leaving Gu Feng completely bewildered.
The female ghost muttered to herself, "No, if he really is the reincarnation of Zheng Yangzi, his righteous energy shouldn't be so weak. He must just happen to possess some spiritual energy. How could this little brat compare to Zheng Yangzi?" Thinking of this, she couldn't help but recall their passionate past...
Seeing that he muttered to himself for a while and then fell silent again, Gu Feng assumed that he might have lost his mind. At this moment, Shi Xin tugged at him: "Gu...Gu Feng, who is she? How can she fly? And her clothes are so strange?"
Gu Feng hesitated for a moment, then said, "She... is not human."
Shi Xin was actually mentally prepared, but she was still taken aback when Gu Feng said it.
Gu Feng said softly, "Do you remember that photo? The person in it is her."
Shixin nodded, a little confused. Was it a ghost? How come it looked just like a normal person except for its clothes? Aren't ghosts in movies always scary-looking?
After a while, the female ghost regained her senses. Looking at the open space, she said slowly, "Three hundred years ago, an unparalleled vengeful ghost appeared in this place. A wealthy family, unaware of its power, buried their young master, who had died young, on the summit of Nine Nether Mountain. His spirit attracted the energy of the Nine Netherworlds and mutated. It was a stormy night, and the entire city was slaughtered in less than half an hour. They all died after their spirits were sucked away by the vengeful ghost, their remains decaying into nothing but bones. A kind-hearted Taoist priest passed by and chanted incantations to dig the ground, hoping to bury them in peace. However, the number of people was simply too large. In desperation, the priest could only bury tens of thousands of people together in one mound. Their spirits were sucked away, and their souls could not reincarnate. They could only cling to their skeletons, their resentment so strong that the area around the burial pit was barren, and people called it the 'Human Bone Cemetery.'"
Gu Feng recalled the "four-eyed skull" he had just seen and said, "No wonder I saw two extra holes in those skulls. Could it be that the evil spirit made them?"
The female ghost did not answer him, but continued, "In order to gain several months of freedom in the human world, the evil spirits have harmed countless innocent people. In an instant, the land lost its color, the six realms were shrouded in darkness, and the people of the world lived in constant fear, watching as countless lives were lost. Finally, Zheng Yangzi came out of the mountain."
Gu Feng frowned and asked, "Zheng Yangzi?"
The female ghost glanced at him: "What? You know her?"
Gu Feng shook his head with doubt and said, "No, it's just a very strange feeling."
Shixin chimed in, "Didn't the thing in the grave this morning also inexplicably mention this person?"
The female ghost asked in surprise and doubt, "You mean... the headless grave at the foot of the mountain?"
Shixin said, "I don't know what 'headless' or 'headed' means. It's over there in the woods, which should also be considered the foot of the mountain!"
The female ghost shuddered: "Gu Feng, did he mention it to you? What did he say again?"
Gu Feng pondered for a moment and replied, "It seems to say, 'Zheng Yangzi, you've caused me so much suffering!'"
The female ghost excitedly grabbed Gu Feng: "Was it said to you?"
