Without lingering, Li Ling, dressed in a well-fitting outfit, hurried back to the place he remembered living in.
In a slum on Hong Kong Island, the impoverished man who had received help from Ho Kam-yin happily handed a sesame seed cake to his wife and son. Looking at all of Ho Kam-yin's clothes in his hands, he kept thanking him, saying, "I never thought there were such kind people in this world!"
"Son, you must be a good person when you grow up!"
"..."
the next day.
He Jinyin's job was delivering food for the restaurant where he worked. Now that Li Ling has taken over, he plans to do that job first, so he can get familiar with the environment before making any further plans.
Early in the morning, Li Ling was assigned to deliver takeout by bicycle to a far-away place. After returning to the restaurant, Li Ling parked the bicycle and took out the delivery box.
"I'm back!" Li Ling shouted.
"So what if you're back? It's no big deal." The receptionist, Aki, muttered, then handed over a glass of water with a sly grin. "Have some water first."
Li Ling took the water, looked at the murky water, and smiled slightly.
In the original storyline, He Jinyin was often bullied by the store's employees because of his timid personality. For example, this glass of water was pranked by Aji by putting chili water in it.
"Thank you, you even knew I was tired," Li Ling said to Aji.
Aki looked up at Li Ling. For some reason, he felt that He Jinyin was a little different today. He scratched his head, but couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Without thinking further, he pointed to the cup and urged Li Ling, "Drink it quickly, it was specially prepared for you."
"That's great, then you can drink this water yourself." Li Ling pulled Aji over, and without saying a word, put the cup to his mouth and poured the water down his throat.
"Cough cough cough~"
Aki was choked by the pepper spray and bent over coughing incessantly.
"Tch, you're not quite there yet when it comes to messing with me." Li Ling sneered.
"Ah Yin, take this meal to Wanhua." The owner came over and handed Li Ling a meal.
"Boss, Wanhua is so far away. I just got back from delivering food. Let someone else go. I want to rest for a bit." Since He Jinyin's wish was to "not be a coward," Li Ling naturally had to say "NO!" to any unreasonable arrangements.
The boss, however, argued vehemently: "When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on a person, it first tests their physical endurance, strains their muscles and bones, and afflicts their mind..."
"Boss, you're kidding me. I'm not going no matter what." Li Ling didn't buy it and interrupted him directly. There were other deliverymen in the store besides He Jinyin. It's just that He Jinyin is used to being bullied.
The boss looked at Li Ling with surprise and asked again, "Really not going?"
Li Ling met his gaze and said firmly, "I'm really not going!"
"Fine, don't go then. Why are you glaring at me like that?" In the end, the boss gave in and ordered his chubby waiter, Ah Zhao, "Ah Zhao, you go this time."
"Boss, I~" Ah Zhao's chubby face immediately fell, and he wanted to say something, but was interrupted by the boss.
"Just go if I tell you to, why are you making so many excuses!" The boss said, glancing meaningfully at Li Ling, implying that Li Ling was disobedient.
"Boss!" A loud shout drew the attention of the group.
Several people turned their gazes over, and a man in a suit and sunglasses looked very unhappy, pointing to the plate in front of him: "Why is there a fly in my soup?"
The boss and all the employees looked at the man in sunglasses' plate, and sure enough, there was a fly swimming around in it without any restraint.
The boss looked at Li Ling, and everyone else looked at Li Ling as well, wanting Li Ling to explain. Usually, it was He Jinyin who explained things when it came to taking the blame.
Ah Zhao, who was standing next to Li Ling, sneered at him. He had just been forced by Li Ling to deliver food to a far-off place, and he was not going to let this go.
He shoved Li Ling hard, trying to push her toward the man in sunglasses, but Li Ling didn't budge an inch.
Li Ling pulled back, but A Zhao was pulled towards the man in sunglasses.
Ah Zhao stumbled, quite surprised. When did He Jinyin become so powerful? And today, did this kid transform into Ultraman? Such a drastic change! He dared to defy the boss's arrangements just now, but now Ah Zhao can't even push him.
Before she could think any further, Ah Zhao was already at the man in sunglasses' table. Looking at the flies in the dish, she screamed shrilly through her chubby face, "Xiao Qiang!"
"Don't give me that!" The man in sunglasses slapped Ah Zhao across the face, sending him flying.
"Ouch!" Ah Zhao cried out in pain.
At this moment, Li Ling, the boss, and Aji all approached the man in sunglasses.
The man in sunglasses looked at the owner and said, "I've had a few sips of the soup. This fly is swimming around in it, as if it's putting on a show, or as if it's mocking me."
The owner interrupted the man in sunglasses, pointing at him and saying, "You don't need to say anything. We restaurant owners are very particular about hygiene. These flies, needless to say, we hate them the most too."
As he spoke, he reached into the plate, scooped out a fly, threw it on the ground, and shouted, "Stomp on it!!"
"Crackling and popping!"
Immediately, the boss and his employees all stepped on the flies, using their invisible kicks to stomp them down.
Li Ling covered his forehead as he watched this absurd scene. This was just a bunch of idiots.
He might find it funny in a movie, but now that it's actually happening in front of him, isn't that crazy? Instead of solving the problem, he's getting caught up in a squabble with flies.
Li Ling stood aside and watched coldly. This restaurant was indeed very unhygienic while watching movies; there was even a scene in the movie where a customer found a cockroach in their food.
The owner's solution was to spray insecticide directly into the food the customers ate, and then let them continue eating, which was utterly ridiculous.
Li Ling can only say that this is a nonsensical world that cannot be viewed through the lens of common sense.
"Bang!"
