Kapitel 22

Chapter Twenty-Four

Zhao Sheng, this little devil, has wreaked havoc on quite a few people in the industry over the years. Some were willing participants, some were forced to compromise, and some were simply deceived by him.

Zhao Sheng is rich and powerful, and he likes to play dating games. He is driven by lust, but he expects others to be emotionally invested.

Therefore, those who had a relationship with him not only do not resent him, but also scheme to get back together, unable to forget him or let him go.

Gu Yueyue's brow furrowed, suppressing her agitation, and she asked Ma Youcai, "How reliable are the sources of your rumors today?"

"Two points. I heard it from the second cousin of the fourth aunt's niece, who is also the daughter of our stage manager's aunt. Apparently, she worked as an audience member in the Star Idol show."

"..."

Ma Youcai crossed his legs, stroked his chin, and analyzed the situation with an air of seriousness, "But I think there's an 80% chance it's true. Think about it, that girl is beautiful, has a great figure, is energetic and spirited, and can sing and dance—she's multi-talented. Zhao Sheng just likes that kind of person."

"Oh," Gu Yueyue responded briefly, then remained silent, not speaking to Ma Youcai, but simply closing her eyelids and letting the makeup artist work on her face.

Seeing that she had no intention of chatting, Ma Youcai muttered a couple of things and said it was boring, so he simply went out to call the others to do the preparations.

After Ma Youcai left, Gu Yueyue had almost finished her makeup.

After the makeup artist left, Gu Yueyue took out her phone and sent a message to Xiao Ye.

Check if Zhao Sheng has invested in Star Idol.

Ono was ordering food outside when she received a message from Gu Yueyue. The first thing she noticed was Zhao Sheng's name. A shameless, sleazy man popped into her mind, but she shook her head to clear the image and focused on Gu Yueyue's message.

Investigate Zhao Sheng?

Is he harassing Sister Yueyue again?

Ono dared not be careless and immediately began to use his network of contacts to search.

Although she was just an assistant, over the years, because Gu Yueyue's real agent Yao Qian only leeched off her and didn't do anything, it was Xiao Ye who really took the lead. She did a better job as an assistant than the average agent.

The results of the investigation came out quickly.

Ono didn't delay and told Gu Yueyue about it when she finished filming.

"I asked around, and he did indeed invest in the Starry Idol Project. Sis, is he still going to pester you?" Xiao Ye frowned. She hadn't heard anything about it, and Zhao Sheng hadn't contacted Yueyue for a long time. He didn't seem like he was going to continue bothering her.

“No.” Gu Yueyue’s eyes were cold. She instructed Xiao Ye, “Keep an eye on him for me, but don’t be too obvious.”

Ono didn't understand what she meant, but she was always very obedient, so since Gu Yueyue had said so, she would just do as she was told.

The scene was filmed seven times in the morning, and Ma Youcai's voice was almost hoarse. The actress who played the junior sister, Chu Man'er, kept making mistakes. Because of the investors' face, Ma Youcai couldn't scold or say anything to her. He was so aggrieved that he almost got heatstroke.

During the lunch break, Ma Youcai came to find Gu Yueyue. The goji berries and chrysanthemums in his thermos had been replaced with dried sea buckthorn.

"Xiao Gu, could you help her with the afternoon's scenes? I'm really exhausted, the production can't afford to wait any longer. The female lead is arriving tomorrow. She's a real star; if I didn't have some connections, I wouldn't have been able to get her to come. Besides, you can't afford to delay things with Fanxing Idol either; you have to rush back tonight."

Gu Yueyue thought of several people in the industry who fit the image of the female lead, but it seemed that no one could live up to Ma Youcai's praise.

Ma Youcai gave a name, and Gu Yueyue immediately understood. A true big name who combines strength and capital, no wonder she couldn't guess.

"I'm really counting on you. You've worked so hard; this scene is all up to you."

Gu Yueyue sighed helplessly and agreed, "Alright then. But I'm not a professional actress, I can only do my best to help her get into character."

When Ma Youcai saw that she had agreed, he immediately felt relieved. "Good, good. I believe that with you in charge, there will definitely be no problem."

Then Ma Youcai became frivolous again, saying, "I'm doing this for your own good. The sooner we finish filming, the sooner we can go back and see that little kid."

"..."

Gu Yueyue turned her back and sat sideways, refusing to continue the conversation with him. Ma Youcai chuckled and took two slices of watermelon from her, humming a little tune as he left.

Perhaps it was Ma Youcai's request that worked, or perhaps Gu Yueyue was really eager to return to Fanxing Idol, after all, she has always been serious about her work. So when filming in the afternoon, Chu Man'er wanted to deliberately NG again, just like in the morning, so that Gu Yueyue would accompany her to continue filming again and again.

Anyway, her scenes involved her standing on the sidelines crying, while Gu Yueyue's scenes involved her wielding weapons and going head-to-head with the martial arts actors.

She took pleasure in making Gu Yueyue tired by doing these little tricks in the morning, while Gu Yueyue honed her acting skills through repeated takes.

What she considered a lesson was the practical training that Gu Yueyue craved.

But now, during the filming, Chu Man'er was intimidated by Gu Yueyue's sudden burst of aura and backed down.

She couldn't figure out why Gu Yueyue seemed to have suddenly changed. When the camera zoomed in, Chu Man'er barely managed to finish her lines and then changed her actions in accordance with the character's setting.

"Alright! That's a wrap, everyone take a break." Ma Youcai, holding his thermos, sat down in his chair and let out a long sigh of relief. This scene was finally over.

Gu Yueyue changed out of her costume and was about to remove her makeup when Chu Man'er arrived.

"Did you do this on purpose?" Chu Man'er questioned her.

Gu Yueyue stared directly into her eyes, making the woman feel uneasy. She then looked away and smiled gently, "What are you talking about?"

"Stop playing dumb! You were just deliberately targeting me!"

Chu Man'er's acting skills are at most slightly better than Xu Yi's expressionless face. She can't keep up with the acting skills that Gu Yueyue throws at her with all her might. In the morning, she deliberately targeted Gu Yueyue, and Gu Yueyue also deliberately used her as a practice subject.

But in the afternoon, Gu Yueyue didn't want to play anymore and completely overwhelmed her with her acting skills, so that even after the scene was over, Chu Man'er was still in a state of euphoria and unreality.

"Just you wait. I won't let you get away with this!" Chu Man'er was seething with hatred for her.

Gu Yueyue didn't understand where her hatred came from, so she could only ask her, "Have we had any past conflicts?"

The question was so direct that it stunned Chu Man'er. After a while, Chu Man'er became even angrier.

"Have you forgotten? Well, someone as important as you wouldn't remember such a trivial matter."

Chu Man'er mocked her, and finally said the harsh words, "I will never let you go," before leaving.

Gu Yueyue breathed a sigh of relief. Ever since she was frightened by extreme obsessive fans a few times, she was filled with fear of being alone with people she didn't know well.

On her way back to the Star Idol Base after leaving the film crew, Gu Yueyue, who had been resting with her eyes closed, suddenly opened them and sat up straight.

"Xiao Ye, help me investigate Chu Man'er again." Gu Yueyue felt that Chu Man'er's words today had a hidden meaning. "Check carefully to see if I have any past conflicts with her."

Ono, who was driving, almost slipped from the steering wheel.

"Sis, with your personality, who would you willingly have a grudge against?"

Gu Yueyue rubbed her aching temples. "Let's check it out."

"Okay. I'll check. Sis, you should rest a bit more. Today, Star Idol has a solo interview, and you'll definitely be on camera. There's also an online Q&A session tonight. If you don't get proper rest, you might mess things up if you're not in good spirits."

Gu Yueyue knew that she would be busy with work, so she forced herself to rest whenever she could, but she had too many things on her mind and couldn't really relax.

"I understand." Gu Yueyue rummaged through her bag for sleeping pills. When Xiao Ye saw this, Xiao Ye advised her, "Sister, I put a sachet to help you sleep. You should carry it with you. Don't take medicine so often. You're already under a lot of stress. Taking too much of this kind of medicine is bad for your health."

Gu Yueyue took out a sachet and put it on her person, but still took two sleeping pills. "I'll lie down for a while. Wake me up when we get there."

"All right."

Gu Yueyue entered the dream again. In fact, every time she saw that familiar person in her dream, she was very surprised. But in the dream, she knew very well that her memories only existed in the dream. Once she woke up, she would forget them all and only remember that she had a dream that was not very memorable.

Beneath an ancient tree, a young girl practices her sword under the stars and moon, while a woman in red hides in the tree.

As Gu Yueyue got closer, she realized that the person in the tree, dressed in a flamboyant and unrestrained manner, had the same face as her, or rather, the other person was even more stunning, and their auras were completely different.

The person in the tree exudes a captivating and alluring charm in every movement. She can accept this openly while working, but in private, she is ashamed to face these qualities.

After the girl finished her last move, instead of sheathing her sword as usual, she swung a sword aura at the ancient tree, aiming straight for the vital point of the person on the tree.

Even though the woman easily avoided it, it still made Gu Yueyue, who was watching, tremble with fear.

The woman landed gracefully, her red dress billowing in the moonlight and the wind. She slowly walked towards the young swordsman and smiled, "Oh dear, little guy, I hid so well, how did you find me again?"

The little swordsman had a cold face. When she saw a familiar person, her expression didn't change, but Gu Yueyue felt that the little swordsman was in a very irritable mood.

The woman extended her index finger and touched the corner of the little swordsman's mouth, while her thumb gently caressed his thin, slightly pursed lips.

"It looks so tempting, I really want to try it."

The young swordsman was annoyed and slashed at her with his sword. The woman dodged the attack, defending herself while teasing her, "Why are you angry again? You cultivate the Path of Ruthlessness, such a temper is not good."

The young swordsman remained silent, gritting his teeth as he used her as a practice target, his moves becoming increasingly fierce.

“Little one, I’m helping you with your cultivation, but instead of appreciating my kindness, you’ve used a deadly move against me. It really breaks my heart.”

The young sword cultivator was angered by her words, and what angered her even more was that this woman, relying on her higher cultivation level, had groped her and even made verbal advances during their fight.

The young swordsman was no match for her and had exhausted his spiritual energy. In the end, he dragged his sword to the tree and sat down to rest against the ancient tree.

The woman swayed as she approached the young swordsman, looking down at him and leaving her mark on his face.

The young swordsman noticed her gaze, reached out and touched his face, his fingertips stained with crimson—the lip rouge from a woman's lips.

The young swordsman raised his sword, and the blade reflected her current appearance, making her look like she had been badly bullied. She was so angry that her red lips parted slightly, but she couldn't utter a word for a long time.

The woman looked at her like that and her smile became even more bewitching.

The woman sat down next to her, took out a handkerchief to wipe the marks on her face, and asked, "What's wrong? Don't you like this color? I'll get you a different one next time."

The woman took out more than a dozen kinds of lip rouge from her storage bag, laid them out in front of the young swordswoman, and asked her, "Is there any you like? You choose one, and I'll do whatever you want, okay?"

The little swordsman didn't know what possessed her today, but she actually reached out and took one. Only after holding the lip rouge in her hand did the little swordsman belatedly realize what was happening. Enraged, she threw the lip rouge into the woman's arms, took out a teleportation talisman, and disappeared on the spot.

"Oh, you're so easily amused."
