Kapitel 3

Jiang Jianhuan lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling above her head, her mind replaying that emotionless sentence.

"I don't know him."

—I don't know you.

He said he didn't know him.

Su Mo's emotionless face appeared clearly before her eyes. More intense pain than ever before came from her chest. Jiang Jianhuan curled up and poured out two sleeping pills from a small bottle on the bedside table.

The next day at work, she was no different from usual.

The wrap-up work at the fashion show was tedious and busy. After dry cleaning and putting away the clothes, and handling matters related to the launch of new products, Jiang Jianhuan was feeling dizzy and overwhelmed when she received the call, staring at a pile of data.

"Jianhuan, send that suit jacket from this issue's 'Yose' series to Su Mo's studio. Just give it to his assistant. I'll send the number to your phone later."

Jiang Jianhuan was startled and quickly spoke up.

"Sister Jiang, I..."

Beep beep beep...

Before she could finish speaking, the call was abruptly cut off.

It perfectly matches Jiang Yuan's personality.

Jiang Jianhuan lowered his hand, sighed helplessly, and slowly packed his things and stood up.

The brand iro has collaborated with Su Mo twice. However, it's more like Su Mo wore their suits a few times, and Alibaba sponsored them.

I heard that Su Mo had been invited to yesterday's press conference, but he declined due to scheduling conflicts. However, he suddenly showed up for some unknown reason.

Jiang Jianhuan always remembered that scene.

Flashes of light kept hitting him. The man had a handsome face, his features were still exquisitely sculpted, and there was a faint sense of aloofness in his eyes, as if there was a barrier between them, and no one could get in.

He walked in from the entrance, surrounded by a crowd. The huge crystal chandelier above his head was dazzling, making him seem like he was standing on a high place, radiating light.

With just one glance, Jiang Jianhuan lowered her eyes as if stung by a pain in her chest. The pain in her heart made it hard for her to breathe. Before she could recover, the red wine in her hand was spilled. Looking up again, she saw Su Mo.

That's absolutely terrible.

When she saw her ex-boyfriend, she wasn't radiant, confident, or stunningly beautiful. Instead, she looked dazed and confused, with red eyes, and wearing a dirty dress stained with wine.

Upon arriving at Su Mo's studio, Jiang Jianhuan dialed his assistant's cell phone. The male voice on the other end seemed extremely busy, instructing her to come upstairs directly before hanging up.

Jiang Jianhuan stared blankly at the black screen in his hand for a moment, then took a deep breath before mustering the courage to take a step.

Su Mo's studio is very low-key. It is a two-story detached building in the city center where land is extremely valuable. The gray and cool color scheme and the surrounding open space have been fenced off and turned into greenery. It is so quiet that it looks no different from an ordinary residence. Only the strict security gate reveals a bit of coldness and solemnity.

Jiang Jianhuan finally met Li Sa, who was "extremely busy." In front of her was a young man with an average appearance and poor skin, who looked like he often stayed up late.

The two arrived at a reception room with three sides made of glass, frosted, and one wall with a different pattern, so that you had to get very close to see the people inside.

Li Sajian's talk was rather frightening; he went from discussing the suit all the way to talking about Jiang Jianhuan, and half an hour had already passed.

"Miss Jiang has only been back in China for a little over a month? No wonder she looks so unusual."

"Ah..." Jiang Jianhuan was a little confused, as she was led into a new topic.

"Your demeanor is like someone who has lived abroad," Li Sa said playfully. Jiang Jianhuan blinked and smiled politely.

She didn't know what they talked about; it felt like Li Sa did most of the talking while she listened. An hour had passed since she left Su Mo's studio. Jiang Jianhuan breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a strange sense of loss. She took out her phone from her bag and prepared to take a taxi back to the company.

The phone rang suddenly, a familiar melody accompanied by vibration, and three words appeared on the screen: Shen Zaixi.

Jiang Jianhuan pursed her lips, answered the call, and unconsciously stretched her lips into a straight line.

"Hello? Is this Brother happy?"

"Jianhuan, how have you been lately?"

"Everything's fine." She smiled, trying to sound relaxed, but unfortunately, the person on the other end couldn't see it.

"What about Uncle Jiang and the others?"

"Dad is recovering well too, the environment in the countryside is quite nice."

"That's good." There was a moment of silence on the other end, as if someone was thinking about something.

"Jianhuan, if anything happens, remember to come to me immediately. No matter what, I'll always be your brother."

"Mmm!" Jiang Jianhuan tilted her head slightly, trying her best to smile, so bright that even she herself couldn't tell if it was genuine or not.

"I will, thank you, Brother happy."

"Why are we being so polite between us..."

Even after the call ended, Jiang Jianhuan's smile lingered. She looked down at her phone, slowly suppressing her smile.

The car arrived quickly, picked up the people on the roadside, and sped away, disappearing from sight in no time. Not far away, the floor-to-ceiling curtains on the second floor of a detached house were drawn, obscuring the figure behind them until it could no longer be seen.

For several days in a row, Jiang Jianhuan saw that inconspicuous black car parked at the intersection she passed every day on her way to and from get off work. The doors and windows were tightly closed, making it impossible to tell whether anyone was inside.

She was somewhat wary, and each time she passed by, she deliberately took a long detour to keep a safe distance from the car.

Her work at IRO gradually got on track. Because of the successful completion of the last fashion show, Jiang Yuan recognized her work ability and gradually began to entrust her with some professional tasks.

Jiang Jianhuan studied fine arts in college, and Jiang Xin also arranged for her to study fine arts when she first arrived abroad. Later, Jiang Jianhuan switched to fashion design and completed her studies in three years. If it weren't for that incident, she would probably have found an internship at a company abroad and then considered returning to China after gaining fame overseas.
