Kapitel 7

After she finished speaking, she looked at him expectantly.

"I understand." Su Mo said indifferently, not even bothering to nod. Jiang Jianhuan looked him over for a moment, and when she was sure he really wouldn't say anything more, she lowered her eyes in disappointment.

"Oh," the girl replied sullenly, her head down. A small hair on her forehead stood up, making her look like a dejected little chick that had been bullied outside.

Sunlight filtered through the lush foliage on both sides, casting golden dapples across the flat road, and a gentle breeze blew.

Su Mo thought the weather was pretty good today.

-

Su Mo was somewhat impatient with the fact that girls still followed him around even though he worked at a bar every night.

"Don't follow me anymore." He frowned and said, but after this period of contact, the girl who was initially frightened by his words had developed an indestructible body.

The little girl looked up, her face was fair and clean, her eyes were bright, and her long, slender eyebrows were exceptionally beautiful, each hair was black and distinct, and the ends were drawn into a beautiful arc.

This makes her seem particularly vibrant and lively, unforgettable at first glance.

And when she makes a solemn vow, she has an innate sense of authority, as if everything she says is correct, even if it is all serious nonsense.

"I'm afraid you'll run into the same kind of person as last time, so I'll be your bodyguard!"

"No need." Su Mo looked at the girl's body, which was just past his shoulder, and refused without thinking.

"I'm very capable!" Jiang Jianhuan went all out to promote himself.

"I won the provincial women's taekwondo championship in my first year of high school. I once fought three strong men with my bare hands. Most people are no match for me."

After Jiang Jianhuan finished speaking, she saw Su Mo staring at her expressionlessly. Thinking that the image she had just created was too muscular and not gentle enough for a girl, she added an explanation.

"Because my father had me late in life, he was especially worried that I would be bullied outside, so he sent me to learn Taekwondo when I was three years old."

Oh, no wonder, that day you threw him to the ground with your bare hands.

Su Mo considers himself a very cold person, almost indifferent to the things around him. When he was assigned to a class at the beginning of his first year of high school, a boy greeted him excitedly and said, "What a coincidence!" Su Mo thought for a long time and replied directly, "Do we know each other?"

The boy looked embarrassed.

He later learned that the person was his junior high school classmate, with whom he had been in the same class for three years.

It was probably the girl's appearance that day that shocked him so much that when Su Mo saw her face again, he automatically searched for her information.

After all, not everyone can throw someone in front of them with such a clean and effortless over-the-shoulder throw.

Moreover, she was a slender and thin girl.

The way Jiang Jianhuan looked at him after throwing him out of the alley that day was probably one of the few moments in Su Mo's life when he felt a little strange.

“But I don’t need it.” After Jiang Jianhuan rambled on and on, Su Mo still refused without thinking. The person in front of her lowered her head in dejection, her whole body filled with frustration.

Just as Su Mo was about to leave, she heard the girl muttering to herself. The girl looked down at her feet, her fingers tugging at the strap of her backpack, talking to herself like a mother hen, worrying incessantly.

"These days, handsome guys need to learn to protect themselves. It's a dangerous place out there, and what if something happens..."

"......"

Su Mo didn't want to listen anymore.

It was still night.

After Jiang Jianhuan argued that the other side outnumbered her, Su Mo remained silent. But in an instant, a familiar sarcasm awakened her wandering thoughts.

"So, this is the level of the women's taekwondo champion in your province?"

"Not someone who once fought three men as strong as oxen with his bare hands."

"..." Jiang Jianhuan was somewhat unable to resist Su Mo now. She unconsciously swallowed and replied softly.

"Throughout history, the outnumbered have always been the enemy..."

Oh.

A silent, cold laugh seemed to come from above.

Su Mo didn't speak, but the intense heat emanating from above showed that he hadn't looked away, and Jiang Jianhuan's fingers, hanging by his side, unconsciously curled up again.

I don't know how much time has passed; I've lost all sense of the passage of time. Su Mo's voice rang out again.

"Won't you invite me up for a seat?"

The hallway was pitch black, and the motion-activated lights were still broken. Jiang Jianhuan turned on the flashlight function on his phone and led Su Mo up to the third floor, floor by floor.

Using the light from my phone, I rummaged through my bag for my keys and opened the door. The moment I pushed it open, a thin layer of sweat inexplicably seeped from my palms; I was silently nervous.

"Would you like something to drink?" She turned on the light, hung up her bag, and asked casually and calmly, only to realize after asking that there was nothing in the house except for boiled water.

Fortunately, Su Mo remained the same as always.

"Water is fine, thank you."

He sat on the old sofa in the living room, his whole being exuding an air of incongruity with the surroundings.

Jiang Jianhuan couldn't help but drift off into thought. Back when Su Mo was still a poor student, she still possessed an air of refined elegance that set her apart from those around her.

Some people seem to be born to shine.
