Kapitel 4

After Lu Mingran finished doing all this, he realized that Su Yun was already standing behind him.

"What's that in your hand?" Lu Mingran immediately noticed the yellowish-brown water that Su Yun was holding.

"Talismanic Water".

Su Yun placed two bowls of water on the table and said briefly to him, "Drink them."

Lu Mingran thought she had misheard:

"Huh? Drink it?"

"No, Su Yun, Su Xiaoshaozi—" Lu Mingran leaned closer to Su Yun and asked sincerely, "Are you getting revenge on me?"

"no."

Su Yun sat upright on the sofa. Facing Lu Mingran's gaze, he said, word by word:

"That bus is not clean."

"Drink this if you don't want to have nightmares tonight."

Lu Mingran believed it, of course, but as a stranger meeting Su Yun for the first time, he had to pretend not to believe it. Therefore, Su Yun had no choice but to tell him that his eyes were different from others'.

Every time he said this to someone, he was met with mocking looks and laughter. Su Yun was used to it, but also afraid of it. He didn't want to face it anymore. After saying this, he slapped his thigh and stood up:

"Anyway, I'm doing this for your own good. Go to bed early after you finish drinking. Good night."

However, Lu Mingran grabbed his wrist just as he was about to leave.

"I……"

Lu Mingran pointed to the sofa: "I'll sleep here tonight?"

"Otherwise, where do you want to sleep?"

...

A moment later, Su Yun slammed the door shut, shutting out Lu Mingran's voice:

"No, think about it again. I don't mind sleeping in your bed!"

Headache……

In the middle of the night, Su Yun opened the door to go to the bathroom and saw Lu Mingran sleeping soundly on the sofa.

Looking at him, Su Yun remembered that when he said he could see dirty things, Lu Mingran said he didn't believe him, but his eyes looked a little different.

————————————————————————

When Lu Mingran woke up, Su Yun had already gotten up and gone to school. He left Lu Mingran some milk and bread, along with a note under the plate.

"Get out of my house after you finish breakfast (smiley face)."

Behind those nasty words was a smiling face. Lu Mingran could almost picture Su Yun's teeth-gritting expression.

After taking a bite of bread, Lu Mingran tore the note apart, leaving only the smiling face.

"Wait, I'll come find you again."

The system told him that today, Mr. Hu would begin his feudal superstitious activities to "harm" the people, and if the system was not mistaken, the first target would be Su Yun.

Su Yun needs him.

Chapter 6 Want to become a Grandmaster? No way (6)

Su Yun's life during the week was quite monotonous. He attended classes at school in the morning and afternoon, then took the bus to his convenience store, and went home to sleep after handing over his shift late at night.

He is always self-disciplined and never late, but today, Su Yun kept looking back before leaving home this morning and almost missed his flight.

It's impossible not to worry about leaving a stranger in your home.

But seeing Lu Mingran sleeping so soundly, he couldn't bear to wake her up and leave. After thinking it over, Su Yun prepared some food, along with a note that contained harsh words for him.

What Su Yun didn't know was that if he recognized Mr. Hu as his master, a few years later, when he started cursing, he could make several senior figures turn pale with anger without using any vulgar language, and they wouldn't be able to refute him. For a time, everyone was afraid of him.

For now, Su Yun is still playing the role of that pitiful little guy. After nervously closing the door, he went to school in a daze.

This city is a small, insignificant place, and its few universities are also mediocre. Its advantages are that it's close to home and the food is quite good. Su Yun was longing for the steamed buns in the cafeteria, but when he entered and checked his pockets, he realized his meal card was missing.

Wait, my student ID seems to be missing too.

Su Yun stood there dumbfounded, fumbling with her pockets, when suddenly she remembered that when she threw her bag at Lu Mingran yesterday, she seemed to have thrown some cards as well.

Oh no, I left my things on that bus.

There's no way to look for it. It's difficult to recover lost items on a regular bus, let alone a bus that probably no one would want to get on again.

Oh well, it can always be reissued anyway. But Su Yun was really hungry right now, and the steamed buns smelled so good that he kept swallowing his saliva.

His gaze darted around, and Su Yun quickly spotted a boy in his class. A thought struck him, and he immediately ran over and patted the boy on the back.

"Cheng, can I borrow your meal card?"

After saying this, Su Yun noticed an old man sitting opposite Acheng. At the same time, Acheng turned to look at him, his face full of distress, looking as if he was about to cry.

The old gentleman was none other than Mr. Gu, their teacher of classical Chinese. Su Yun immediately stood up straight: "Hello, Mr. Gu."

"Um, um, hello..."

Teacher Gu responded absentmindedly, then tapped the table and urged Acheng, "Keep reciting, you haven't finished reciting the Qian hexagram yet."

This teacher, Mr. Gu, has recently been teaching them the I Ching and the Eight Trigrams. What Su Yun remembers most clearly is the teacher drawing a bunch of short and long horizontal lines, then tapping the blackboard and explaining with great enthusiasm:

"Classmates, I have a friend who calculated the weather data for an entire year using the I Ching. What is this? This is the wisdom of the Chinese nation, a treasure of traditional culture!"

...

"Actually, this divination also suggests how many children a family should have! Having eight sons and eight daughters is what makes a harmonious and stable family."

The students below: "..."

Later, when I went to class, I would throw coins around with a clanging sound, casting lots and telling fortunes.

Of course, the Book of Changes cannot be taught for a whole semester; the teacher is only giving them an introduction. Finally, Teacher Gu assigned a memorization task, stating that it would count towards their performance grade. He added, "Other teachers make you write essays, but I only require you to memorize it."

But some people just can't memorize it no matter what, like Acheng.

Some people not only couldn't memorize it, but when they excitedly came to buy xiaolongbao in the morning, they were caught by Teacher Gu and given an impromptu recitation test, making it impossible for them to eat in peace.

"brother!"

Acheng grabbed Su Yun, pulled him aside, and whispered:

"You'd better help me cover for them. I really can't remember what that divination was about. If you offer to take the test in my place, you can use my meal card as you please today."

Acheng imitated the teacher's accent, pronouncing "Bagua" as "Bagua," which almost made Su Yun burst out laughing. He cautiously turned to look at the teacher, then said to Acheng with some embarrassment:

"But I haven't memorized it yet."

After finishing class, he went to check on the shop; he had no time to think about things like the principles of primordial harmony, prosperity, and adversity, or the numbers 9, 2, and 3.

Ah Cheng, however, recognized his good temper and handed him the notebook without further ado.

Su Yun looked at him helplessly, thinking to herself, "Fine, I'll help him out then." Strangely enough, when she seriously studied this kind of thing, Su Yun was able to memorize it very quickly.

When Su Yun expressed his wish that the teacher would check him first, A Cheng ran over quickly, saying that he would buy him xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) as a reward.

On the other side, Teacher Gu heard Su Yun reciting so quickly and well, and kept smiling and staring at him, which made Su Yun feel a chill down his spine.

"Teacher, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now..."

"etc!"

Teacher Gu took out two coins:

"Would you like me to do a fortune telling for you?"

————————————————————————

The teacher said he has potential.

The teacher also said that someone like me, a mediocre teacher, can't teach you; you need a mentor to guide you. However, Su Yun, the divination indicates that your mentor will also be your calamity.

These words kept echoing in Su Yun's ears all day. For the first time, he felt that this eccentric teacher was somewhat frightening.

A benefactor? He's had such a rough life; he's lucky if he doesn't encounter any villains.

With fewer classes in the afternoon, Su Yun quickly finished her work after class before returning to her shop.

As soon as he entered the room, a balloon popped right next to his ear with a loud thud. The culprit stood beside him, holding the broken balloon and chuckling.

"Lu Mingran!" Su Yun shuddered in fright.

"What...what are you doing here?"

Lu Mingran mimicked his frightened expression:

"I...I came to find you."

Chapter 7 Want to become a Grandmaster? No way (7)

After finishing her breakfast, Lu Mingran strolled over to this 24-hour convenience store.

The girl in charge of minding the shop during the day was very cute, but she was also quite bored by herself, so Lu Mingran chatted with her for a while.

The young girl, enjoying the conversation, told Lu Mingran that her boss insisted on coming over to guard the place for a while in the evening because he was entertaining some friends.

“But none of us have ever seen it,” the young woman said, glancing around nervously. “I heard from former employees that sometimes at night, the boss would talk to the air.”

"Uh...is it that scary?"

Lu Mingran then asked, "Then why are you still working here? Aren't you afraid?"

"I don't come at night, and besides, the boss is a really nice person."

The two chatted for most of the day. Just then, a child came into the store and soon started crying. Lu Mingran picked up a decorative balloon and used it to soothe the child.

Later, the child left, but the red balloon remained in Lu Mingran's hand. He turned his head and his eyes lit up when he saw Su Yun come in. He grabbed the balloon and headed over there.

But the surprise clearly turned into shock. Su Yun asked, "What do you want with me?"
