Kapitel 9

Great Adventure

The news of Shen Huai's expulsion only caused a stir at the school for two days, along with the melodramatic romance that everyone had imagined. As the weekend approached, the students' conversation naturally shifted to where to go, what to do, and what to eat for the weekend.

Lin Chengshuang ran down from the fourth-floor classroom, as excited as a silly bird set free: "Want to go out for dinner tonight?"

"No, thank you." Ji Li stuffed the test paper into her textbook. "I'm staying at school this week, so I won't be going back."

Why would you suddenly be staying at school on a perfectly good weekend?

"There's a math competition on Sunday."

"No wonder the teacher suddenly asked us to set up the exam room after school today. I was wondering what kind of test it was going to be." Lin Chengshuang said, then added with a puzzled look, "But you're a humanities student now, why are you participating in a science competition?"

"I registered last semester."

Lin Chengshuang thought about it seriously: "Since you live on campus, why don't I come along too?"

"You must apply for permission to stay overnight." Ji Li glanced at the message on his phone and added, "And your mother probably won't agree."

No sooner had he finished speaking than there was a "ding" sound from his pocket.

Lin Chengshuang clicked on it and glanced at it, instantly looking as if she had lost her parents: "Why hasn't she given up on finding me a tutor yet?"

Ji Li zipped up his jacket: "Don't look at me. Aunt Lin just sent me a message saying that if I take you in, you can forget about getting a single penny from her in the future."

"Well……".

Students who choose to stay on campus on weekends must attend self-study sessions on time. There are usually ten or twenty students in each grade. This weekend, because the classrooms were requisitioned, the self-study session was held in the conference room.

When Ying Yunsheng arrived, the teacher on duty had not yet come. He put down his things, took out paper and pen, and continued to solve the problem he had not finished before. He did not notice when the other people in the classroom arrived, when the empty seats were gradually filled, or when the teacher on duty took his seat at the podium.

"Don't sit in the back, all of you come up to the front and fill in the empty seats. Aren't there enough chairs for you all?"

The sound of chair legs being dragged across the floor came from the back of the classroom, followed by footsteps.

In my peripheral vision, I saw an extra figure.

Ying Yunsheng didn't look up, but simply pulled his arm back slightly to himself, and continued writing: "If x∈[x+kt,x+(k+1)t]..."

The other person pulled out a chair and placed the items on the table.

"Then h(x) = g(x)f(x)..."

The person next to me sat down in a chair, suddenly entering my peripheral vision.

"Conversely, h(x)..."

Ying Yunsheng paused, momentarily stunned.

Ji Li pulled a pen out of the side pocket of his backpack and looked up to meet his gaze.

Why are you sitting here?

Ji Li said, "This is the only empty seat up ahead."

Ying Yunsheng realized the questioning tone in his words as soon as they left his mouth. He tried to make amends, but the other person answered indifferently. He was stunned for a moment before he looked around and realized that there was indeed no other place beside him.

The classroom noise immediately quieted down when the teacher on duty tapped the desk.

Ying Yunsheng looked at the question again, but suddenly found it hard to concentrate, and it took him a long time to write a single stroke.

At 10:10 p.m., the teacher on duty left early.

A head suddenly popped out from beside the desk: "Hey genius, do you remember me?"

After writing a summary, Ji Li looked up and saw the other person's straight hair, and spent several seconds racking her brains for memories.

The one who squatted outside the dormitory with Jian Mingyuan before the class division to do homework.

The man with glasses nodded and exclaimed, "This is the first time I've seen you stay at school on the weekend."

"Did you need something?"

"It's nothing serious." Glasses chuckled. "Well, we dorm resident students have a tradition...we get together in the dorm on Saturday nights for a little party, just eating, drinking, and playing some games. Now that you're staying over, do you want to come over tonight?"

Ji Li: "Okay."

"If you're not interested, then... huh?"

"when?"

Glasses' inner monologue was filled with "Holy crap!": "11 o'clock, we're going to 412 this week."

Ji Li grunted in agreement and continued writing the test paper.

Glasses had assumed that a student like Ji Li wouldn't participate in their "unproductive" activities at all, so he was completely taken aback to receive a positive answer. He was flattered and excited, then turned to Ying Yunsheng, who was sitting next to him: "Then you should..."

"I'll go too."

The man with glasses was taken aback: "What?"

Ying Yunsheng didn't even look up: "I'll go too."

Glasses thought to himself, "Didn't you say last week when I asked you that I shouldn't call you for these kinds of things anymore?"

However, he didn't mind, since he often acted on his own whims. So he nodded and said, "Okay, remember to get there early, or the food will be all gone."

Room 412 was located in the middle of the corridor on the fourth floor of the dormitory. When Ji Li went there, there were already seven or eight boys sitting inside.

Ying Yunsheng sat in the corner near the door. He could meet the man's gaze as soon as he looked up, but looked away after confirming who it was.

When the others saw Ji Li's face clearly, they were all shocked: "Old Yu is awesome, he can even invite our academic genius here!"

"You've managed to get the top scores in both arts and sciences; don't you feel any remorse for corrupting these good students?"

Why would the academically challenged and academically gifted students from Changqiao suddenly gather together in Building 4 late at night?

Yu Ze naturally adopted the airs of a host, patting the empty seat next to him and calling out, "Academic genius! Over here!"

A straw mat was laid on the ground, and a folding table was set up on it. There was a large bag of barbecue skewers that someone had brought up from somewhere and by some unknown means, and a bunch of bottles and jars were placed next to it.

Someone emptied a cocktail bottle, and the frosted glass bottle was placed on the ground. One of the boys reached out and flicked it, and the bottle slowly spun half a circle, the opening pointing towards Ji Li.

Truth or Dare?

Ji Li looked at the bottle opening: "I didn't say whether I wanted to participate or not."

The boy next to him, who was clearing the bottle, grinned and said, "Now that it's all over, can the academic genius afford to play this game?"

This was clearly a provocation. While the others were enjoying the spectacle, Yu Ze advised, "Don't bully people."

The boy grinned and said, "We rarely get to sit at the same table with the academic genius. What's the point of just eating and drinking? Don't you think so?"

Amidst the cheers and jeers in the room, Ji Li turned off his phone: "Truth or dare."

Everyone got excited and started offering suggestions all at once. The boy who had been spinning the bottle asked directly, "What's the most stupid thing that's ever happened to you?"

Ji Li: "I dressed up as Sleeping Beauty and was woken up by a boy's kiss."

Boy: "..."

Everyone: "..."

Yu Ze was shocked: "Genius, is this... a true story?"

Ji Li: "That's the next question."

Everyone was shocked, but no one noticed that in the corner, Ying Yunsheng's eyes suddenly flickered after hearing those words.

Ji Li took the initiative, reached out and flicked the bottle, and miraculously, the bottle was aimed directly at the boy who had just flicked it.

The boy was dumbfounded: "Holy crap, you've practiced before?"

Ji Li remained noncommittal: "What should we choose?"

The boy hesitated for a moment: "Truth or dare."

Ji Li chuckled softly: "If everyone here fell into the water, those you save would live, and those you don't would die. You must and can only save one person. Who would you choose to save?"

Boy: "..."

Everyone: "..."

The boy suddenly felt a dozen gazes upon him, almost getting riddled with holes. In the end, he forced himself to drink the entire bottle of Green Mountain City liquor, and the initiative was regained.

In the third round, the bottle gurgled and pointed towards Ying Yunsheng.

The boy didn't even wait for him to choose, and directly made a request: "Choose one person from the audience and kiss them for three minutes."

The air was silent for half a second.

Ying Yunsheng was slightly taken aback when he heard the request.

Yu Ze realized: "You're targeting me."

More than that.

In fact, it wasn't just the bottle-spinning game; all the boys present wanted to use the game as an excuse to tease these usually unattainable model students. Subjectively, they might not have been malicious, but objectively, they all wanted to tear away the halo of being "other people's kids," to shatter their glamorous appearance, and to see how pathetic they looked.

He dared not offend Ji Li, but there was still one more.

The boy, holding the bottle, raised his chin and said, "Choose."

Everyone was watching the other party with expressions of anticipation.

This requirement focuses not on the kissing process, but on the selection process.

Since there were no girls present, it's not a big deal for women to help each other out and kiss.

But clearly there was no one here who could help him with that.

That would make it seem awkward and embarrassing.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Ying Yunsheng did not look up, but stared at the bottle opening on the ground that was pointing at him.

After a moment, he withdrew his fingers and reached out to touch the aluminum can on the table.

Just as they were about to meet, someone suddenly spoke up: "Ying Yunsheng."

He was startled and subconsciously looked up.

“If you really can’t choose,” Ji Li pointed to the boy next to her who was emptying bottles of wine, “you can choose him.”

Boy: "?"

His eyes widened in surprise: "Wait, except for me!"

Ji Li ignored him and fairly sought the opinions of the others: "Do you think he can be ruled out?"
