"What's wrong with my son?"
"Is he sleepwalking? Or is he under too much stress? Should I consult the head of the psychiatry department tomorrow?" Zhang Wenhu seriously considered which doctor he should consult.
After observing carefully for a while, Zhang's mother smiled knowingly.
"I guess neither is true. Boxuan has never behaved this way before. This must be a sign that he is suffering from unrequited love."
"Really?" Zhang Wenhu peeked out again to observe his son's unusual behavior. Hmm, he still couldn't understand women's thoughts. How could this be related to love? Oh well, whatever, let her be!
"Hehe~~ That's great~~ This means we'll be able to hold our grandchildren soon!" Mother Zhang was already imagining the blissful family scene of her grandchildren surrounding her.
Zhang Wenhu could only shake his head and smile at his wife's optimism. Since his son wasn't having a serious breakdown or acting crazy, he decided to continue sleeping with his beloved wife in his arms.
For the next few Sundays, Shan'er stayed home with Xuande and Xuanling. She seemed to be guarding against something, fearing that Zhang Boxuan would reappear and take "her" children away!
As if afraid that she wasn't troubled enough, Xuande became visibly unhappy. Even when Shan'er spent time playing with him and coaxing him, he just frowned.
"Mom, this isn't fun..." He put down the puzzle and frowned.
"Do you find playing with Mom boring, or...?"
"These games aren't fun!" Xuande wanted to go out and play.
After playing with Uncle Zhang in the park, he felt that playing any games at home with his mother was no longer fun.
Shan'er sighed softly. "So, what do you want to play?"
"Fly kites!" Xuande shouted excitedly.
After all that, it turns out Xuande wanted to go to the riverside park. Could it be that he wanted to see...?
She's now trying her best to avoid taking the child to the riverside park, hoping to prevent Xuande from running into Zhang Boxuan. But seeing Xuande's sullen expression, her heart aches for him…
Sigh, whatever. Anyway, Zhang Boxuan has never shown up again since then. And even if he did, with her there, I doubt he'd dare do anything to Xuande…
She smiled and said to her son, "Let's go fly a kite."
"Thank you, Mom!" Xuande was so happy he danced with joy.
Under a clear blue sky, a gentle breeze occasionally blew, and Shan'er reached out to smooth Xuande's wind-blown hair.
When she arrived at the park, she encountered the biggest problem of her life: she didn't know how to help Xuande fly the kite high!
"Mom, you're so stupid!" After trying several times, Shan'er had to give up, and Xuande sat on the lawn in utter disappointment.
Stupid? She's a genius, and her son calls her stupid?
"Actually, there are many games to play even if you don't fly kites!" Shan'er tried her best to divert Xuande's attention elsewhere.
"Oh—" Xuande let out a long groan.
"Okay! Then I want to play baseball!" Actually, Xuande had a little bit of hope, looking around to see if Zhang Boxuan was there.
"Oh no..." Oh no, Seon-ah can't play baseball either!
That hateful Zhang Boxuan! Before he appeared, Xuande was a very well-behaved child. She only flew a kite with him once, and now he constantly compares her to Zhang Boxuan. He always finds fault with her incompetence and shortcomings!
"Let's go home! Grandma should have dinner ready by now," Shan'er said sheepishly.
The smile faded from Xuan Dejun's handsome face, and he nodded listlessly.
As dusk settled, the mother and son walked slowly out of the park hand in hand.
A tall man then appeared at the place where they had just been playing; he was the Uncle Zhang that Xuande had been looking forward to—Zhang Boxuan.
Seeing Xuande's disappointed expression inexplicably affected his mood. In order to prevent Jin Shan'er from accusing him of having ulterior motives, he resisted the urge to show himself.
Doesn't this woman know how to reflect on her own actions?
This shrewd businesswoman is so clueless she can't even fly a kite. Can't her bright eyes tell that Xuande is unhappy at all?
Zhang Boxuan was completely unaware that his heart had been quietly captured by the two figures, one tall and one short, standing before him...
On Monday, Shan'er resumed her busy office worker life.
Xuande should go to kindergarten, but he has been throwing a tantrum these past few days, complaining of stomach pain early in the morning and not wanting to go to school.
Shan'er was in a rush to get to work and couldn't properly "communicate" with him, so she had no choice but to leave him at home and trouble Siwa to take care of him.
Xuande looked out the window dejectedly; in the distance, a few white clouds floated on the horizon.
"Uncle isn't coming, is he?" he said dejectedly, turning to Siwa. "I don't understand why Mom won't let me play with Uncle."
Siwa responded with silence.
Children will never understand the adult world.
Xuande stopped making a fuss and just lay on the carpet putting together a puzzle, no one knew what was going on in that little head of his.
It's lunchtime.
"Xuande, what do you want to eat for lunch?" Siwa always asked the children what they wanted to eat.
"I don't want to eat," Xuande replied, pouting.
"Shall we go eat McDonald's hamburgers?" Siwa said affectionately.
McDonald's is a paradise for children.
