Peaceful Jianghu - Chapter 29
He chuckled self-deprecatingly, pulled his clothes back shut, and turned around. He was wide awake and walked out of the house. He noticed that the window of Xiao Dao's room next door wasn't closed properly, so he went over to take a look and frowned slightly.
Xiao Dao, wearing a yellow embroidered jacket, was fast asleep on the table, while the little yellow cat lay beside her, its chin resting on Xiao Dao's hand.
Xue Beifan shook his head helplessly, pushed open the door and entered the room, patting Xiaodao on the shoulder. "Sigh, go to bed."
Xiao Dao didn't wake up.
Xue Beifan said in a low voice, "Hey, I get beaten up for touching your hair, but if I carry you to bed, will you beat me to death?"
Xiao Dao seemed to sense a sound in his ear, got annoyed, and buried his head in his arm, rubbing it against something.
"Look, if you shake your head, it means you won't hit me. Don't you dare get angry later!" Xue Beifan said, gently picking up Xiaodao and walking towards the bed.
He was really walking very carefully, afraid that this fierce girl would suddenly wake up and deal with him like she dealt with Cai Bian.
He gently placed Xiaodao on the bed and covered her with a blanket. The little yellow cat darted to Xiaodao's bedding, curled up, and lay down comfortably against the soft brocade back, just like Xiaodao, who was turning over in bed.
Xue Beifan pressed one hand against the bedpost and tucked the blanket in. After staring for a long time, he looked up and saw Xiaoyue, who had gotten up for some reason, standing in his room doorway staring at them.
Xue Beifan gently raised his index finger to his lips, signaling Xiaoyue to be quiet.
Xiaoyue remained standing there quietly.
Xue Beifan came out, gently closed Xiao Dao's door, and turned to go back inside.
After both doors were closed, Xiaoyue looked thoughtfully at the two now quiet houses in front of her. Just now, she had a rather strange feeling.
"Up so early?"
Xiaoyue turned around abruptly and saw Chonghua propping his chin up with one hand, leaning on the windowsill and watching her.
"What are you doing here?" Xiaoyue asked, puzzled. Wasn't this Hao Jinfeng's room?
"I switched rooms with Officer Hao. He said he snores at night and didn't want to wake you up." Chonghua came up with a ridiculous but reasonable excuse and successfully convinced Xiaoyue.
"Oh." Xiaoyue nodded, preparing to go back to her room to sleep a little longer.
"Who would I care about the first time I meet Bei Fan?" Chonghua suddenly asked.
Xiaoyue asked, puzzled, "Is that so? Isn't Young Master Xue always very considerate of others?"
Chonghua smiled and pointed to his chest. "The thing here has been dead for a long time, but it suddenly felt like it came back to life just now." After saying that, he asked Xiaoyue with a smile, "What do you want for breakfast? I'll have someone make it."
Xiaoyue thought for a moment and said softly, "Anything is fine with me."
"Of course not," Chonghua said seriously. "I asked you what you wanted to eat."
Xiaoyue hesitated for a moment, then said, "Fish porridge and steamed buns."
Chonghua nodded, "Okay, I'll go back to sleep for a while, and then I'll have breakfast when I wake up."
Xiaoyue obediently went back to her room.
Chonghua rested his chin on his hands, leaning against the windowsill, staring at Xue Beifan's room.
...
When Xiao Dao woke up again, he was awakened by a soft little paw pad.
I groggily opened my eyes and saw a pink, plum blossom-shaped little hand slapping me from side to side, though it didn't hurt at all.
The knife suddenly reached out and grabbed the claw, startling the little yellow cat into meowing.
"Ha, you're taking revenge on me here? Taking advantage of my vulnerability to ambush me!" Xiao Dao held down the kitten that was trying to escape and poked it on the forehead.
Then they heard someone talking outside, in that slow, somewhat annoying tone, "The sun's high in the sky, aren't you up yet?"
Xiao Dao puffed out her cheeks and looked outside. She saw Xue Beifan leaning against the windowsill, beckoning to her with his finger, "If you sleep any longer, you'll become a lazy old woman."
"Get lost!" Xiao Dao grabbed the pillow and threw it away with a "whoosh".
Xue Beifan took a step back, tilted his head to avoid the pillow, and continued to make fun of him in a nonchalant way, "You shouldn't have said you'd marry me, you should have said you'd be married to me."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a kitten flew out with a "whoosh".
Xue Beifan carried the cat to the table and waited.
A moment later, the door opened, and Yan Xiaodao came out yawning, holding a blueprint in her hand, and placed it in front of him.
Xue Beifan opened the drawing and frowned slightly. It was exactly the same as the drawing he had seen in Cai Bian's room last night. He looked at Yan Xiaodao in surprise, "You drew this?"
Xiao Dao raised an eyebrow, sat down, and looked around.
Xiaoyue made her a bowl of hot beef noodles with an egg and chili.
Xiao Dao slurped and ate with great satisfaction.
At this moment, Hao Jinfeng and Chonghua walked in. Chonghua laughed so hard he almost fell over. As soon as he saw that Xiaodao had woken up, he quickly ran over and said, "Xiaodao, the whole city of Jinling is talking about it today. Last night, Cai Bian was punished by the Mountain Woman."
Xue Beifan couldn't help but chuckle, "How long was he hung up like that?"
"It's said to take about an hour."
"Tch, that's too easy on that lecher!" Little Knife seemed quite dissatisfied. "He was only hanging there for a short while."
“No,” Chonghua said, suppressing a laugh. “It is said that last night he was tied to the ceiling of the bed by the mountain woman, and soon the ceiling cracked open. He fell headfirst into the toilet and was not discovered by the servants until this morning.”
"Pfft, cough cough." Xiao Dao choked, drinking water because of the spiciness, while laughing heartily.
