Chapter 53

The surroundings were quiet, and everyone sensed the strange atmosphere. Su Ying finally smiled, a smile that was utterly disdainful and arrogant, and said sarcastically, "Teacher Dai's standards seem to be getting more and more lenient."

Upon hearing this, Dai Yunxin's assistant felt a chill run down her spine. She had already sent part of the video to Dai Yunxin, who was in the United States. It should be late at night there, but Dai Yunxin hadn't rested and had replied swiftly and decisively:

"What's wrong with her today? Her dancing is so weak and powerless! Her spins aren't crisp and clean enough. Didn't you feed her?! She can't even execute the movements correctly, so what's the point of talking about 'form and spirit'?! Let her watch the video herself and see if she's the worst of the six!"

This echoes Su Ying's attitude, making it a cause and effect.

Su Ying has an eccentric temper; if things don't go her way, she'll simply walk away. For most people, that would be considered unreasonable and throwing a tantrum. But her demeanor and presence are commanding, as if it's perfectly natural for her. Her words, spoken just now, were neither too loud nor too soft, enough for many to hear. Now, everyone is exchanging glances, their eyes filled with either curiosity or pity as they all turn to Zhao Xiyin.

The music stopped, the group dispersed, and Zhao Xiyin remained standing there, her face pale. It took her several seconds to recover before she slowly began to walk. Amidst the chaotic stares, only Cen Yue ran over and steadied her, asking, "Zhao Xigua, are you alright?"

Zhao Xiyin frowned and remained silent, clearly indicating that things were not going well.

"Sigh, I didn't check the almanac before I went out today. If I had known this would happen, I would have just taken the day off."

"I applied, but they won't approve it." Zhao Xiyin also looked worried, her face pale and her lips white.

Cen Yue helped her walk a few more steps, then said to herself, "So you have this much pain during your period? I never felt it before. Are you... Ah! Zhao Xiyin!!"

A sharp pain shot through her stomach, and Zhao Xiyin lost her balance and fell to the ground.

The scene suddenly became chaotic. Before Cen Yue could even catch her, Meng Weixi rushed over. He knelt on one knee, put his arms around Zhao Xiyin, and easily lifted her up.

Zhang Yijie hadn't expected Meng Weixi to do this in front of everyone. He was distracted for a second, and Meng Weixi yelled at him, "What are you standing there for? Drive the car over here!"

A large group of people, surrounded by others, crowded towards the door.

The incident happened in just over ten seconds, and many people were shocked and exclaimed, "That's President Meng, right? The new head of Fantian Entertainment is so young!"

"What's wrong with Zhao Xiyin? She's not in the right state of mind at all today. She's just playing average, which is not her usual level."

"She actually knows the boss? No wonder, it turns out she's the one with the real backing."

Su Ying, who hadn't left yet, was surrounded by staff. A slight smirk played on her lips, utterly disdainful. She'd seen this kind of thing far too often in her twenty-odd years in the industry. Countless people were there, vying for attention, competing for resources, and trying to climb the ladder.

Su Ying scoffed coldly, clearly not having a good impression of her.

Inside the car.

Zhao Xiyin hadn't actually fainted; it wasn't that serious. She was in pain, but she didn't need anyone to carry her out. Meng Weixi was just worried and didn't want to let go even after they got to the car.

Zhao Xiyin pushed him away, but he hugged her even tighter.

The two faced off like in a tug-of-war, resisting each other without exchanging a word, their eyes locked in a silent struggle.

Zhao Xiyin pressed against his chest, finally exclaiming anxiously, "Meng Weixi!"

Meng Weixi's gaze, like that of a deep autumn night, held a touch of melancholy. He released her hand, and Zhao Xiyin scurried away, pressing herself against the car door as if fleeing. This action deeply hurt him; Meng Weixi turned his head to look out the window, his eyes almost reddening.

He suppressed his emotions, and when he turned back, he was stunned for a moment.

Zhao Xiyin was bent over, her elbows supporting her knees, her back curled up. Sweat poured from her forehead, and she had no strength left to answer.

Meng Weixi's expression darkened, and he immediately ordered, "Go to the hospital."

As soon as she finished speaking, Zhao Xiyin gripped her sleeve tightly. She turned her head, revealing half of her deathly pale face, and said in a trembling voice, "Yuetan West Street, and Ji Tang, find Dr. Ji."

——

"When this bottle of glucose reaches the red line, switch to the second one. Remember, she's allergic to penicillin, so make sure you verify her name," Ji Furong whispered to the nurse beside her. "Take her temperature again in five minutes."

The medicine flowed through the catheter, drop by drop, at a steady pace. Zhao Xiyin took out the hot compress pack and said in a hoarse voice, "Aunt Ji, it's too hot."

Ji Furong shook her head and said, "You still know it's hot? Didn't I tell you to be obedient?"

Zhao Xiyin pulled the blanket up a little more, covering her face. After a while, she asked softly, "I haven't been in much pain all year, why is it this time..."

"Because your surgery wasn't done well, it damaged your foundation. A woman's body is very difficult to regulate; her Qi, blood, and meridians are all interconnected. This time, it seems like you ran too fast, but ultimately it's because you developed a chronic condition; it was just a trigger." Ji Furong was looking at her ultrasound report and felt a little relieved: "It's just inflammation."

Zhao Xiyin said, "Don't tell my dad."

Ji Furong glanced at her and said, "No, you need someone to take care of you in this condition."

Zhao Xiyin became really anxious. "You'll definitely worry if you say that."

Ten minutes later, Ji Furong checked her temperature before leaving the ward. Meng Weixi stood by the door, not leaving, asking, "How is she?"

Ji Furong said, "It's nothing serious, a few IV drips will do the trick."

Dr. Ji didn't talk much, but her attitude was very sincere. She had other patients to attend to, so she went to her office. Meng Weixi followed her, patiently waiting for her to finish before continuing, "What's wrong with her?"

Ji Furong closed the medical record. "She is not a relative, and I have an obligation to keep her information confidential without her consent."

Meng Weixi paused, the word "boyfriend" on the tip of her tongue, but she swallowed it back. He didn't speak, standing by the door with his back straight, showing no intention of leaving.

After a long pause, Ji Furong calmly said, "Menstrual cramps are not a disease for girls, so don't worry."

——

When Zhao Xiyin woke up from her nap, it was already dusk.

The curtains were half-drawn, letting in the twilight that bathed the walls in an orange glow. Meng Weixi sat on a single armchair against the wall, legs crossed, his gaze fixed on her. He remained motionless, seemingly frozen in place for an unknown amount of time, a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

Zhao Xiyin and he looked at each other, neither of them saying a word.

That one glance revealed the vastness of life, that neither of them could reach the other's shore.

Zhao Xiyin's voice was a little hoarse as she said to him, "Thank you."
