Ghost Stories - Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Gu Feng couldn't freely explore the surroundings, but under the dim yellow light, there was nothing unusual.

Amidst a wave of confusion, his gaze returned to the box in his hand.

Gu Feng grasped the small handle of the box, intending to open it, but suddenly a thought struck him, and a mental force warned him not to open it? The vague concept gradually became clearer, and Gu Feng's mind flashed back to He Ye's unfinished suicide note...

Faint characters suddenly appeared where there were none, and the following text appeared in Gu Feng's mind:

"...I can barely hold the pen anymore, Gu Feng, my friend. You must remember, whatever you do, don't touch that deep hole at the construction site, especially that box inside. I can't say for sure what's inside, but I know that over the past hundred years, the little bit of ghostly energy that has leaked out of it has been enough to affect that worker, control his mind, and devour his flesh and blood. And it will... "

Don't touch it, remember that, absolutely remember that!

Gu Feng frantically recalled those words in his mind, but it was too late...

Gu Feng stared blankly at the box in his hand, just staring at it.

A sudden chill ran through him, and every pore on his body contracted. Gu Feng could sense that something was standing in the black space behind him.

It felt very similar to the last time I was at the judo hall. I can say with certainty that Gu Feng is definitely not a good thing.

With a burst of courage, Gu Feng suddenly turned around to look.

There was nothing there, it was completely empty!

Gu Feng felt uneasy. It was a little different from last time. That time, it was because he couldn't see, but this time... it had disappeared. The oppressive chill that had been behind him just moments before vanished the instant he turned around.

Gu Feng looked at the wooden box in his hands and the Bagua golden lock in his palm. He hurriedly fastened it back on, but the joint had already been broken. He didn't know if it would work!

Gu Feng was about to leave the box there and leave, but then he thought that if it were excavated in the future, it would inevitably reappear in the world, so he decided to destroy the box.

Although I don't smoke, I always carry a lighter in my pocket. I lit it and burned it for a while, only to find that the wood, which I didn't know was anything special, couldn't even catch fire after burning for more than ten seconds!

Keeping it around would be a disaster, so Gu Feng decided to take it out and see if there was any other way to make it disappear completely.

Climbing up the rope with one hand is obviously extremely difficult, not to mention that Gu Feng is under tremendous pressure.

With his feet clamped between the ropes and one hand climbing up, Gu Feng's head could finally be seen at the cave entrance.

"Phew!" Gu Feng climbed up and let out a long sigh of relief.

Looking at the strange box in his hand and the bizarre cave behind him, Gu Feng felt a chill run down his spine and quickly disappeared into the night.

Volume 1, Chapter 17: Ruthless Provocation

An ancient style lingers below the dormitory.

If there really is something strange in this box, bringing it back to the dormitory might cause trouble for his fellow disciples. But right now, there's no practical solution. Gu Feng paced back and forth, pondering a countermeasure.

If fire can't destroy it, then bury it?

Such a thought flashed through Gu Feng's mind. There was no good solution at the moment, and the black wooden box was filled with ghostly energy, so Gu Feng still wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible.

Since there haven't been any problems after being buried for so many years, it should be okay to bury it again, right?

Located in the southern suburbs, once you cross the low wall, the land is desolate and devoid of any human presence.

Gu Feng thought it best to bury himself as far away as possible, so he strode quickly, only to arrive at a desolate hillside. The cold moon shone like silver, coldly illuminating the surroundings, and the magnificent buildings of the Three Paths Society in the distance were no longer visible.

First, he put the wooden box aside, then Gu Feng held the iron shovel in his hand and dug hard. The soft turf was quickly peeled away, and the black soil was soon revealed to have a pit more than two feet deep under the flying shovel.

Seeing that the depth was about right, Gu Feng grabbed the box, roughly tossed it down, cursed a couple of times, and covered it with dirt. Not satisfied until he finished, he stomped on it countless times.

Gu Feng wiped away his sweat, took a heavy breath, glanced at the "ruins" one last time, and then left with his shovel, feeling reassured...

If it were daytime, Gu Feng would definitely be puzzled by the terrain of this hillside. It was surrounded by solid rocks and low hills, but here stood a strange mound of earth.

If you look closely, you will find that there is a broken stele, about ten feet tall, on the east side. The ancient inscriptions on it clearly describe that this place is the tomb of a powerful man from the previous dynasty!

In the early hours of the morning, dark clouds gathered, obscuring the sky. A sudden change occurred at the site where the ancient wooden box was buried; the solid ground cracked open, and a malevolent aura, even darker than the night itself, continuously spewed forth from it. This aura, besides containing the ghostly energy from the ancient wooden box, likely also carried the corpse energy that had been sealed within this giant tomb for centuries…

At the same time, the century-old corpse at the Cultural Bureau also underwent a change. An indescribable, ethereal white aura suddenly emanated from the corpse, bypassing the sleeping night watchman and drifting towards the hillside...

Gu Feng had a nightmare. He dreamt that the exquisitely carved black wooden box opened in front of him, and a powerful black aura condensed into the head of a vengeful ghost, which opened its mouth to devour him.

At the critical moment, He Ye appeared out of nowhere and risked his life to enter the mouth of the ghost, punching and kicking in the black mist, trying to avoid being swallowed.

Gu Feng wanted to rush forward to help, but an invisible wall seemed to stand in his way, preventing him from crossing it even a step. Watching He Ye's face gradually contort and deform, Gu Feng's heart bled. He could faintly hear He Ye's last desperate cry: "Gu Feng, run! Get out of here..."

Watching helplessly as He Ye disappeared into the closing giant mouth, Gu Feng screamed frantically, "No, no!!!!"

When I opened my eyes, it was all a dream, and I was still shaken and uneasy by the terrifying scene in the dream!

"What's going on, Gu Feng? Can't you let people sleep?" Zhuang Yu muttered as if in a daze, and then his snoring resumed.

With her heart pounding, Gu Feng could no longer fall asleep.

...

"Gu Feng, what's wrong? You look really listless today?"

Gu Feng glanced at Shi Xin and shook his head, saying, "Maybe there were too many mosquitoes yesterday, so you didn't sleep well!"

Shi Xin nodded thoughtfully and looked at him, saying, "Today we'll try a different training method."

Upon hearing this, Ah Mao and Xiao Bing were so happy they almost jumped for joy, finally able to escape the nightmare of being kicked by the ancient style.

Shih-hsin continued, "Judging from your performance these past two days, you should have overcome your fear of your nemesis. What you need to do now is to continuously enrich your practical experience, which means finding someone to train you!"

Ah Mao and the other two can rest assured; they are not qualified to give Gu Feng any pointers.

Gu Feng asked, "Who are you looking for?"

"I!"

********************************************

Looking at Shi Xin, who was wearing protective gear, Gu Feng said guiltily, "I can't beat you."

Shixin laughed and said, "That's good. If you still think that it was to let you taste the joy of victory like the other day, then you are very wrong."

He added, "Hurry up and make your move!"

Gu Feng nodded intently and launched a right front kick.

Gu Feng had already mastered Professor Shi Xin's combo techniques and knew that this front kick would not have any effect on Shi Xin, so he quickly followed up with a left back kick.

Seeing that Shixin had quickly dodged the heavy blow, Gu Feng followed up with a right side kick.

Seeing Gu Feng's powerful kick, Shi Xin didn't want to rashly block it, so she took another step back. Just as Gu Feng was about to follow up with a finishing move, she swiftly delivered a frontal kick, followed by a powerful mid-section spinning kick before Gu Feng could even catch his breath. Caught off guard, Gu Feng was struck in the waist; even through his protective gear, the impact was painful, and he touched it. Shi Xin showed no mercy, immediately following up with a side kick. Unable to retreat in time, Gu Feng could only take a large step to the left, followed by a heavy side kick.

Shixin hurriedly spun out her leg, and the two of them were both kicked.

Gu Feng knew that if he fell into a passive position, he would inevitably suffer a crushing defeat. His only way out was to launch a strong attack.

Shi Xin was pleased with Gu Feng's rapid progress, realizing that she no longer had much of an advantage over him except for giving it her all. Taekwondo emphasizes using force against force, direct attacks, and the essence of victory lies in the mutual restraint of each move. Seeing Gu Feng launch a heavy downward kick, Shi Xin didn't hesitate to use a side kick to seize the opportunity.

Gu Feng missed his kick and was instead kicked himself, making him more cautious in his attacks.

Seeing that Gu Feng couldn't quickly figure out his attack strategy, Shi Xin offered guidance several times. By the end of the morning, Gu Feng had made significant progress.

During the lunch break, Shixin took a towel and wiped Gu Feng's sweat, saying, "How are you? Are you tired?"

"What do you think?" Gu Feng gasped, "You didn't hold back at all, it hurt me so much."

“If you want to defeat your nemesis, then you shouldn’t complain.” Shi Xin looked at Gu Feng and said, “You should know that karate techniques are much more complicated than taekwondo. While you are parrying, it is difficult for you to have the power to counterattack.”

Gu Feng nodded sadly. He was well aware of this; the fact that they had lost all five battles was enough to show how formidable they were.

Shih-hsin added, "Although I'm only a first-degree black belt in karate, it should still help you get familiar with the techniques. I'll use karate to spar with you this afternoon."

Gu Feng said, "That would be great, but right now the most important thing is to fill our stomachs, isn't it?"

Shixin smiled and said, "Okay, lunch is on me."

Gu Feng chuckled wickedly, "Don't speak too soon. Usually, if I'm around, those two fat guys will show up too."

Shi Xin smiled and said, "Don't worry, I won't be eaten out of house and home by the three of you."

canteen.

The four of them, with their ancient style, gathered around a table and happily enjoyed the sumptuous lunch that Shixin had treated them to.

During the event, Ah Mao kept loudly proclaiming Gu Feng's past heroic deeds, which attracted the attention of everyone present.

"This person is Gu Feng!"

Wow! So handsome.

"I heard he's very brave; he's not even afraid of ghosts."

"Are you kidding? His dad's the boss of a funeral home. How could he get by if he was afraid of ghosts?"

"Hmph, hmph!" A group of students, clearly from the karate club, sneered, "He may not be afraid of ghosts, but he was so scared when he saw our senior brother that his legs went weak!"

Upon hearing this, Gu Feng became furious, gripped his chopsticks tightly, and glared at the arrogant man.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that even the nemesis was among them!

Ke Xing stared coldly at Gu Feng for a long time before finally reprimanding the person who had just spoken: "What are you saying! Gu Feng is the number one expert in the Taekwondo club, how can you say such things about him?" The contempt in his words was probably obvious to everyone in the cafeteria.

His highly provocative gaze was directed straight at Gu Feng.

Gu Feng coldly said, "Nemesis, don't be afraid of you just because I always lost to you in the past."

Ke Xing laughed and said, "What, do you still think you can beat me now?"

Gu Feng said, "I remember your challenge, number 30. I will definitely defeat you then."

Ke Xing feigned a surprised expression: "Why? What makes you think you can fight me?" His gaze fell on Shi Xin, and he gave a thoughtful "Oh."

The people at his table burst into laughter: "This guy from Gu Feng really has guts, reduced to relying on women for support, haha, how ridiculous."

Gu Feng clenched his fist, and the bamboo chopsticks snapped with a "crack".

"You've gone too far, Ke Xing!" Shi Xin stood up.

Ke Xing laughed and said, "You can't say that. Everyone in the club knows how much stronger Gu Feng is than me. The fact that he's suddenly making such boastful remarks is all thanks to you!"

Shixin was taken aback; clearly, what Kexing said was true.

Gu Feng glared at him resentfully: "Don't think that trying to provoke me will work. We'll see who's the better player on the 30th."

After saying that, he turned and left. Although Ah Mao and the other two were a little reluctant to leave behind their still-unemptied rice bowls, it was clear which was more important at the moment, so they followed Gu Feng out.
