Ghost Stories - Chapter 14
"I never expected you to be this kind of person." Shi Xin stared coldly at her nemesis: "Since you know you have the ability to win, why do you still try to undermine him!"
Kexing met her gaze with fiery intensity: "Do you know why?"
Shi Xin felt uncomfortable under his gaze and turned her eyes away: "What else could it be but to erode Gu Feng's confidence?"
Kexing remained focused: "What if... I don't care about winning or losing at all?"
Shi Xin was startled: "What...?"
"That kid Gu Feng was already defeated by me long ago. Do you know why I'm fighting him?"
Shixin shook her head in confusion.
Kexing's eyes gleamed: "I can't stand him getting so close to you!"
Shixin was shocked: "How...how could this be..."
"Shixin, you should remember that thing, what I said to you five years ago."
Shi Xin stared at him blankly, the scene from five years ago vaguely flashing before her eyes again...
...
The ancient style of hitting a sandbag is the best way to vent when you're feeling down.
Ah Mao said from the side, "Brother Feng, don't be too angry. That kid is extremely arrogant and he'll get his comeuppance eventually."
Gu Feng kicked him a few more times: "Do you think I can beat him?"
"Well!" Ah Mao said thoughtfully, "Of course I hope you win, Brother Feng, but judging from the facts, that kid should be stronger."
Gu Feng kicked hard, and the sandbag swung away with a "thud".
"You think so too?"
"Brother Feng, don't look at me like that, like I'm killing a fly. I'm just stating the facts. If you want me to flatter you, that's fine too."
Gu Feng sighed and sat down on the floor.
"It seems I have absolutely no chance of winning!"
“You can’t say that,” Xiaobing said. “We’ve seen Shixin’s coach these past few days. Maybe you, Feng, have already reached the point where you can be a nemesis of uniforms.”
Gu Feng smiled slightly: "I hope it's as you say."
Ah Mao suddenly said, "Brother Feng, since you can't beat him with Taekwondo alone, then you should also learn some of our Judo techniques. Taekwondo can reach far, but Judo is specifically for close combat."
Gu Feng frowned, but felt that Ah Mao's words made sense.
Xiaobing chimed in, "That's right! In your previous sparring matches, didn't your nemesis only gain the upper hand by getting close and using a grappling hook? If you practice some judo techniques, you can grab him hard and throw him to the ground if he tries the same trick again."
Gu Feng nodded: "But what can you possibly teach them to be anything?"
"Damn, Brother Feng, you're underestimating us. We're judo black belts, we're not that bad!" Ah Mao said unhappily.
Gu Feng asked, "In your opinion, what would be the easiest and most useful thing to learn in the next few days?"
"Brother Feng's legs are undeniably sharp, but judo emphasizes hand strength more, so it's impossible to reach a high level in a short time. However, I think the quickest technique for you would be the hook throw."
After listening to Xiaobing finish speaking, Gu Feng said, "Enough with the nonsense, time is precious, let's get started now."
Ah Mao said, "Since you are going to learn judo, the most important thing is to stay close to your body and grab your opponent. So you have to completely abandon the rules of taekwondo and never be bound by them."
Gu Feng thought for a while and nodded.
Xiao Bing stepped forward, grabbed Gu Feng's double lapels, and said, "Almost everyone knows how to do a hook kick, but once you master it, it can become a very useful winning technique."
"First, you have to grab your opponent, like I am now," Xiaobing said while demonstrating. "Then, quickly kick out and trip your opponent. Remember, your hand should follow up with a downward press, preferably with your whole body weight, to give them a hard slam."
As Xiaobing spoke, he suddenly launched an attack, his right foot slicing into Gu Feng's crotch, pulling him down and causing Gu Feng to lose his balance and fall backward. However, Xiaobing did not use the second half of his technique, otherwise, with his weight, even if he was not as heavy as A Mao, he would have given Gu Feng a hard time.
Gu Feng struggled when Xiao Bing attacked, but with his hands bound and his balance lost, all he could do was fall to the ground. He stood up and said, "This seems quite interesting!"
Xiaobing smiled and said, "Now it's your turn."
Gu Feng's expression tightened, and he strode forward to grab Xiao Bing's arms.
Xiaobing hurriedly took two steps back and spread his hands, saying, "Wait a minute, I know Brother Feng has a strong ability to understand, but could you please forget the second half of what I taught you?"
He was clearly still wary after being kicked by Gu Feng a couple of days ago, and even though he was now being taught by Gu Feng, he couldn't help but harbor some suspicions. Gu Feng laughed and said, "Of course, I won't hold back."
Xiaobing was taken aback, but quickly regained her composure and said, "Of course, the nemesis won't be like a big piece of wood that you can grab and throw, so I'm the same. We need to save time now, so let's skip the part about training the dead and go straight to training the living."
Gu Feng smiled and said, "Whatever."
"Here it comes!" Gu Feng spotted Xiao Bing and rushed over to hug her. Xiao Bing frowned, took a backward lunge stance, and stood there.
Before Ah Mao could warn Gu Feng to be careful, Xiao Bing had already moved to the side, tripped Gu Feng with her left foot, and pushed him away. Gu Feng rolled seven or eight feet away in an instant.
"I didn't expect Xiaobing to have such skills." Gu Feng was shocked. He rubbed his sore spot and stood up again.
Little Biscuit, having succeeded in his attack, burst into triumphant laughter, hands on his hips, chuckling with unbridled joy, as if he hadn't urinated in ten years and was now finally letting loose.
Gu Feng smiled wryly and said, "It's not that exaggerated, okay? Is it worth being so proud of?"
"Hehe, Brother Feng, I never thought you'd end up in my hands today, hahaha, that's really satisfying."
Gu Feng seized the opportunity, thought about his move, rushed forward, grabbed Xiao Bing, hooked his leg and pushed him, and tripped Xiao Bing heavily to the ground.
Little Biscuit, lying on the ground, maintained that smug smile for three or four seconds, stunned as if nothing had happened, before finally being completely covered by an expression of pain.
"A sneak attack! Brother Feng, you're despicable!" Xiaobing cursed, rubbing his aching back.
"Who told you to laugh so horribly? It's impossible not to want to slap you with a couple of melon seeds."
Little Biscuit stood up with a babbling sound and said, "Is it really that exaggerated?"
Gu Feng didn't answer him, but asked, "How was my move just now?"
Ah Mao said, "If you press your body down further, it will be the standard." Xiao Bing glared at him: "Trying to crush me? Fine, then you can spar with Brother Feng next."
Ah Mao, looking as if it were his duty, shook his clothes and stepped forward.
Gu Feng looked at his massive body and secretly considered how to trip him up.
Ah Mao grinned wickedly: "If we're talking about punches and kicks, I might not be as good as you, but I'm not bragging. Apart from the gorilla, even Zhuang Zhu would have a hard time taking me down."
With that, he stomped his feet, remaining as steady as Mount Tai.
Gu Feng said, "It's best if it's not a weakling." As soon as he finished speaking, he picked her up and hugged her.
Ah Mao didn't move, standing straight as he pulled the cloth. Gu Feng stretched his leg into his hip and pressed down hard. Ah Mao was indeed formidable; his center of gravity didn't shift at all!
Ah Mao smiled smugly, though not as cunning as Xiao Bing.
They worked in a traditional style, hooking their feet and pushing with their hands, for nearly five minutes.
"Phew," Gu Feng wiped his sweat: "Ah Mao, to be honest, I really want to just kick you down right now."
Ah Mao's expression tightened: "We're practicing judo right now. If you want to kick, you'll have to wait until the 30th to fight your nemesis."
Gu Feng said helplessly, "You're so heavy, and you stand so steadily, how could I possibly fall over?"
Xiao Bing chuckled: "Brother Feng, I'll teach you a trick."

Gu Feng's eyes lit up: "Tell me quickly."
Little Bing chuckled wickedly at Cat and said, "You know Cat's fatal weakness, right? As long as we make the most of it, then..."
Gu Feng suddenly realized, rubbed his hands together, and approached Ah Mao.
"What are you trying to do? Don't do anything reckless." Ah Mao was a little flustered.
Gu Feng smiled, then suddenly accelerated, grabbed Ah Mao, and pulled hard, but she remained unmoved. Ah Mao, whose heart was still pounding, suddenly felt a tingling sensation in her waist and burst into laughter.
Gu Feng seized the opportunity and with a loud thud, Ah Mao's massive body crashed down, causing the dojo to tremble.
Ah Mao's arms weren't long enough to reach the sore spot on his back. Although he was used to being thrown around by the gorilla, he still rolled on the ground in pain. Gu Feng was startled and hurriedly started massaging it for him.
After a moment, a satisfied look appeared on Ah Mao's face: "A little higher, add some more force."
Gu Feng glared at him fiercely and continued to massage and knead according to his wishes.
"That was great, even better than a massage." Ah Mao continued to enjoy it with a smug look on his face.
A few minutes later, when lunch break was almost over, Shixin came in.
Shi Xin, looking utterly dejected and haggard, walked in listlessly. Gu Feng asked in surprise, "Shi Xin, what's wrong?"
Shixin shook her head and forced a smile: "No...it's nothing."
"Did your nemesis bully you?"
Shixin shook her head: "It's none of his business. Okay, let's warm up first and start training right away."
Gu Feng looked at her hesitantly: "Are you really alright? You look so listless, are you sick?"
Shih-hsin laughed and said, "Don't worry, just mind your own business and don't get knocked out by me later."
Gu Feng still stared at her with some suspicion as he warmed up.
Seeing that it was almost time, Ah Mao and his companion said goodbye and went back to the judo club.
Shixin suddenly asked, "Don't take what Kexing said to heart."
Gu Feng smiled wryly and said, "He's right. If it weren't for you, I really don't know when I would have been able to defeat him."
Shi Xin nodded silently, but a hint of resentment suddenly flashed in the corner of her eye.
Gu Feng clearly saw it all, but Shi Xin didn't want to tell the truth, and he didn't want to force her. He muttered to himself for a moment and then remained silent.
...
Shi Xin looked at Gu Feng, who was already ready, and composed herself. She said, "Karate emphasizes a one-hit kill in combat. The moves are heavy and powerful. Unless absolutely necessary, never try to fight head-on. Defense and counterattack are usually more effective."
Gu Feng nodded, and Shi Xin continued, "Karate is best at palm strikes, while Taekwondo excels in leg techniques. In fact, we have an advantage in comparison. However, since karate also trains in footwork, which can be used at both close and long range, it is a bit difficult to gain the upper hand."
Gu Feng nodded again; he had seen this clearly in the previous exchanges.
“However,” Shi Xin said with a smile, “if your leg techniques are fast enough to prevent your opponent from getting close and completely denying them the opportunity to use their strengths, then there might be some hope. But I know it’s very difficult to be faster than your nemesis. Even I’m not absolutely certain. What you can do is not only increase your speed, but also understand the routines and techniques of karate, figure out which move to use to counter which move. Only when you have absolute confidence in blocking your opponent’s attack can you possibly defeat your nemesis.”
Gu Feng said loudly, "Understood."
Shi Xin smiled and continued, "The most commonly used technique in karate is the hand chop, which is divided into three types: the through chop, the back chop, and the front chop. Each technique has a different function. For example, the front chop's function is..."
