Ghost Stories - Chapter 27

Chapter 27

"Shixin...are you there?"

Gu Feng called out cautiously inside.

Apart from an echo, nothing else was amiss.

Gu Feng called out again, "Shi Xin, are you here?"

"Hiss~~~~~~~~" A strange sound suddenly came from Pit 3...

Suddenly, wisps of black smoke rose from the door, the stench making Gu Feng want to vomit. The Golden Dragon Demon-Slaying Sword seemed to sense the eerie ghostly aura emanating from that side.

With a clear "hum" of the sword, a golden light automatically detached from the sword and shot in that direction.

The wooden plank, which should have been fragile, became as hard as diamond. When the sharp golden sword struck it, it vanished without a sound.

Gu Feng was suddenly startled. Was it really necessary for the toilet door to be made so sturdy? But he couldn't resist his curiosity and took two steps forward, wanting to see what strange thing was inside.

The Golden Dragon Sword is extremely sharp, without a doubt.

The dirty door panel of Pit No. 3 is very sturdy, and Gu Feng would definitely not take it lightly.

With a soft thud, Gu Feng, having exerted all his strength, stabbed his sword into the door. The wooden door, showing signs of decay, was surprisingly resilient. Not only did it leave no mark, but it also bounced Gu Feng and his sword off, causing him to stumble for a moment before managing not to fall.

Gu Feng stared blankly at the dilapidated wooden door, a strange feeling creeping over him. Shi Xin was right behind him, just like that day at the taekwondo gym, waiting for him to come to her rescue…

With a roar, Gu Feng spun around and delivered a heavy back kick.

A kick that could easily break a 10-centimeter wooden board seemed to be a bit powerless against a low door that was less than two centimeters high.

"Splash!"

To his surprise, the door opened before he could fully exert his strength, and Gu Feng almost fell over due to loss of balance.

He felt as if he hadn't kicked the door open himself; it was as if an unseen hand had opened it the instant he kicked it!

The inside was empty, just like when I came with my grandfather during the day, except for that dark pit that was eerily emitting some kind of black gas.

Shixin isn't inside...

Just as Gu Feng was about to approach the pit to see what was going on, he suddenly felt a weight on his back; someone had patted him on the back.

For a moment, I felt afraid to turn around.

"who?"

"Gu Feng, what are you doing here?"

The voice was familiar, but when I turned around, it was none other than Sun He.

"Sun He? Weren't you afraid to come in? Why are you here so late?" Gu Feng asked in confusion.

Sun He scratched his head: "I don't know."

"You don't know?" Gu Feng asked, somewhat surprised. "What happened?"

Sun He said, "I was just sleeping when I felt a cool breeze and I found myself standing outside. I also heard a girl crying inside, so I came in to check and that's when I saw you."

Gu Feng looked at him with suspicion: "A girl crying? I didn't hear anything?"

Sun He looked around a few times: "Strange, I just heard it, how come it's gone now?" Finally, his gaze settled on Pit No. 3.

Gu Feng also looked in that direction, but the black mist had stopped at some point, and the dim light from the bulb was not enough to illuminate what was inside.

"Beep beep beep~~~~" The phone in his pocket suddenly rang. Gu Feng said, "Sorry, please wait a moment and go outside to answer the call."

Sun He nodded.

Hello, who is this?

"Excuse me, are you a traditional Chinese style person?"

The voice sounded somewhat familiar.

"Yes, may I ask who you are...?"

"Oh, the Taoist priest has woken up. Come quickly and see what's wrong. His precious sword has been stolen."

Gu Feng sighed inwardly and said, "The sword... is in my hand."

The man said, "Oh, I see. Then come back quickly."

Gu Feng felt the voice was familiar, but couldn't place it. He asked again, "Who are you...?"

"Come back quickly, I'm about to hang up."

As soon as I finished speaking, the dial tone came through; the call had ended.

Gu Feng frowned and thought for a while, but he couldn't figure out whose voice it was.

I went in to say hello to Sun He, but I was stunned to find that the toilet was empty.

What about Sun He?

Gu Feng was puzzled for a moment, hoping that they would go back first and then follow.

"Hey, Gu Feng, you're back."

Sun He stepped forward to greet them.

Gu Feng felt relieved and said, "You're really fast! You ran off without a word."

Sun He asked in confusion, "What are you talking about? I don't understand."

Gu Feng laughed and said, "What are you talking about? I just told you to wait a moment, but you came back and are still pretending to be clueless."

Sun He looked bewildered: "I was woken up by the Taoist priest's noise and came here. I haven't been anywhere else."

Gu Feng suddenly jolted. Yes, that was the voice. The voice on the phone just now belonged to Sun He…

But who was the person who shared the toilet with me?

who is he?

Volume 2, Chapter 39: Possession by a Ghost

Gu Feng stared at Sun He warily, his eyes scanning him up and down with a hint of doubt.

Sun He felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze: "Why are you looking at me like that? It's really uncomfortable."

Gu Feng shook his head in confusion, then heard his grandfather calling from inside the house and hurriedly rushed in.

Zhao Longteng finally felt relieved after confirming that he had received the Demon-Slaying Sword from Gu Feng. Sun He scolded Gu Feng, "Why didn't you say anything? The Daoist was so flustered that his face turned pale just now."

Gu Feng looked ashamed, pondering whether or not he should tell them about Shi Xin's disappearance.

Sun He stared at the sword the old Taoist was stroking in his hand and asked, "Master, I think this sword is only good for being a light bulb, and it doesn't seem to have any other function. Why do you treasure it so much?"

The old Taoist priest gave the Demon-Slaying Sword a deep look: "Nonsense, what light bulb nonsense. This sword is the treasure of the Dragon-Suppressing Path. It was the magic weapon that the Dragon-Tiger Celestial Master used to subdue demons and exorcise ghosts. It was unparalleled. Moreover, only this sword can resolve the upcoming ghost tribulation."

"Ghostly Calamity?" Gu Feng remembered that the female ghost Chu Yun'er had also mentioned this, the end of the world!

But could this rotten sword, which couldn't even cut through a door two centimeters thick, really resolve this calamity? Gu Feng adopted a wait-and-see attitude.

Sun He seemed quite interested in the "ghostly tribulation" the old Taoist priest had mentioned: "Ghostly tribulation? What does that mean?"

Zhao Longteng smiled mysteriously: "Young friend, this matter... is not something you, an outsider, need to know."

Sun He snorted, feigning indifference.

Zhao Longteng's expression suddenly changed. The lights went out?

The bright room was instantly plunged into darkness.

Sun He muttered, "What's going on? Is there a power outage? Wait a minute, I'll go check it out. It might have tripped."

Zhao Longteng shouted solemnly, "No!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the wide-open door suddenly slammed shut with a bang, and in an instant, a cold wind rose up in the room, filling it with eerie howls.

"Good heavens, they've actually come knocking on our door!"

The old Taoist priest brandished his sword, and its magnificent light illuminated every corner.

Gu Feng was stunned. There was a figure standing at the door. It was Shi Xin standing there.

Is that still Shixin? She looked completely lost, her eyes lifeless, and her face as pale as snow.

All three of them stared at her, and remained motionless.

Suddenly, Shi Xin raised her right hand, stretching it straight out, with clear black blood seeping from between her fingers, dripping onto the floor. She staggered towards Gu Feng step by step, her mechanical movements making it impossible for a living person to do such a thing.

Sun He and the old Taoist priest realized what was happening at the same time.

Possessed by a ghost?

Is this girl possessed by a ghost?!

Without any emotion, Zhao Longteng began to swing his sword. In an instant, a Dharma wheel gathered in front of him. He shouted an incantation, and the Dharma wheel smashed towards Shi Xin like a thunderbolt.

The girl's senses seemed to have completely dulled; she was utterly oblivious to the incoming barrage of projectiles, her lifeless eyes staring blankly at Gu Feng.

If it were an ordinary person, they would surely think that Shi Xin's bizarre actions, which resembled a ghost, were nothing more than an attempt to kill Gu Feng.

But……

Gu Feng felt as if Shi Xin was reaching out her hand, hoping he would lend her a hand. The sorrow in her lifeless eyes seemed to be telling him about the boundless pain she had suffered…

"No...no...!"

Gu Feng let out a roar, but... he was a step too late. The magic array struck its target, and Shi Xin spat out a mouthful of black blood and flew backward.

"Crash!" His body slammed onto a chair and shattered into pieces.

Gu Feng rushed forward recklessly, ignoring Zhao Longteng's shouts, Sun He's advice, and the resistance deep within his heart.

Shixin's body was so cold that it felt like she wasn't even alive.

Although his fair face was covered with foul-smelling black blood, he showed no sign of pain and remained deathly calm.

Gu Feng held her tightly in his arms, his heart aching: "Shi Xin... Shi Xin, are you alright... Shi Xin..."

"Foolish!" the old Taoist priest cursed, and Ji Jian caught up.

"What do you want to do?" Gu Feng was startled and shouted loudly while protecting Shi Xin.
