Chapter 66

on Monday.

The parent-teacher meeting is scheduled for the afternoon.

After lunch, Fang Bai went to the dressing room to find some decent clothes.

When Wu Mei learned that Fang Bai was going to attend Ji Yuning's parent-teacher conference, she was initially happy, but then she snorted at Fang Bai and complained, "The last few times I went, I don't even want to describe the way those parents looked at me. When the teacher praised Xiao Ji, some parents even chimed in to imply that Xiao Ji had cheated on her grades. It's obviously impossible!"

After Wu Mei finished speaking, the other party smiled and said, "But since Miss is here today, those people who treat people differently based on their status shouldn't say anything anymore, so Xiao Ji won't be talked about by them either."

Fang Bai listened silently to Wu Mei's words. Wu Mei was honest and rarely said such harsh words or gave opinions to others. What she said today showed that she was not just angry. Just thinking about it made it clear how much those people Wu Mei had said had really hurt her.

Fang Bai composed himself and said softly, "It wouldn't make any difference if I went. In their eyes, I'm just a good-for-nothing who only knows how to sponge off his parents."

After all, that's how the original owner of this body was designed.

Upon hearing Fang Bai's self-deprecating remarks, Wu Mei couldn't help but say, "Miss, don't talk about yourself like that. They're just jealous of your family's affairs."

Fang Bai smiled and stopped talking to Wu Mei about these things. She changed the subject and said, "Have Uncle Li drive and wait for me. I'll go downstairs after I change my clothes."

Wu Mei responded and left the dressing room.

There were quite a few cars stuck in traffic at the school gate, so Fang Bai got out of his car halfway and walked to the school by himself.

When they arrived at the school gate, Fang Bai realized what Ji Yuning meant by waiting for her there.

Fang Bai, wearing high heels, strolled over to the sign for Class 3, Grade 11, and said to the person with the armband on their left arm, "Excuse me, could you take me to the classroom?"

The sarcasm in his eyes was obvious.

Even though the entrance was chaotic and noisy, Ji Yuning still spotted Fang Bai the moment she appeared at the school gate.

It was simply because Fang Bai was wearing the same dress from that day.

The scene in the fitting room flashed before her eyes. Ji Yuning clenched the sign in her hand and said indifferently, "Okay."

Mu Xuerou emerged from behind Ji Yuning and called out softly, "Aunt Fang."

Fang Bai smiled faintly: "Xiao Mu, it's been a long time."

Mu Xuerou smiled shyly, then turned to Ji Yuning and said, "Yuning, why don't you take Aunt Fang to the classroom?"

"Mm," Ji Yuning replied, as Mu Xuerou took the plaque from her hand.

Fang Bai waved to Mu Xuerou, "Goodbye, Xiao Mu~"

Ji Yuning paused in her turn, but quickly resumed her normal movements.

On the way to the classroom, Fang Bai carried his bag and followed behind Ji Yuning step by step.

The crisp sound of footsteps reached her ears, and Ji Yuning stopped walking, only continuing when Fang Bai reached her side.

"Wait for me?" Fang Bai asked in a relaxed tone.

Ji Yuning: "Mm."

Fang Bai chuckled, seemingly unconvinced by Ji Yuning's words, and asked, "Are you going to the entrance again later?"

"go."

Fang Bai said "Oh," and then asked, "Why haven't I seen He Ziyan?"

Ji Yuning lifted her eyelids: "Does Auntie really want to see her?"

"No, I was just asking."

If she wasn't mistaken, it should have been the students with the higher rankings who went, because she hadn't seen He Ziyan in the line earlier.

Ji Yuning said indifferently, "I've taken leave."

"I see." Fang Bai understood.

Ji Yuning did not reply.

Fang Bai didn't ask any more questions.

The two walked side by side toward the teaching building.

When we arrived at the classroom, it was only about half full.

He Wei sat in front of the podium, and walked over with a smile when she saw Fang Bai, "Miss Fang".

Fang Bai hummed in agreement. "Teacher He, I'm not late, am I?"

"No, it doesn't start for another twenty minutes," He Wei said to Ji Yuning. "Yuning, you can go back to the door."

After hearing this, Fang Bai said to Ji Yuning, "See you in a bit."

No sooner had He Wei finished speaking than she began talking to Fang Bai again.

Ji Yuning nodded and glanced at Fang Bai, who was chatting happily with He Wei, before leaving.

After chatting with He Wei for a few minutes, He Wei pointed to the window seat in the second row and said, "That's Yu Ning's seat. Please sit there first."

Fang Bai walked over and found that everyone's desks were clean, except for one three-dimensional triangle made of folded paper standing on the table with a name written on it in marker.

The name Ji Yuning caught Fang Bai's eye, but he recognized that it wasn't Ji Yuning's handwriting. He glanced at Mu Xuerou's name next to it and realized that it was Mu Xuerou who wrote it for Ji Yuning. It seemed that Mu Xuerou had also folded the name tag for her.

Mu Xuerou's parents hadn't arrived yet, so Fang Bai easily walked into the inner room.

A dozen minutes later, Mu Xuerou's parents arrived. She was an elegant woman. Fang Bai chatted with her briefly, and just as they were starting to talk about her studies, He Wei stood on the podium and announced the start of the parent-teacher meeting.

Fang Bai glanced back and realized the classroom was already full. After exchanging a smile with Mu Xuerou's mother, Fang Bai straightened up.

He Wei: "Hello parents, I am He Wei, the homeroom teacher of Class 3. Today..."

He Wei continued speaking from the podium, while Fang Bai sat upright with his hands on the table, listening attentively to He Wei's words.

Most of them were about studying.

Half an hour later, He Wei finished her speech and said, "The next time is for parents and students. There are letters written by students to their parents on the table in front of you. You can open them and take a look to see what your children have to say to you. This will help you communicate better with your children."

A letter to parents?

Fang Bai looked down and saw that Ji Yuning's desk was empty, with nothing on it, while Mu Xuerou and the student in front of her each had a piece of paper on their desks.

Fang Bai raised an eyebrow.

Did Ji Yuning not write it? Or was it blown to the ground?

Puzzled, Fang Bai looked down around his seat but found nothing.

Seeing this, Mu Xuerou's mother asked softly, "Miss Fang, what are you looking for?"

Fang Bai shook his head: "It's nothing, please read the letter."

Fang Bai was about to send a message to Ji Yuning when he inadvertently saw the nameplate on the table while picking up his phone.

Fang Bai's eyelids twitched; it seemed like there was something pressing down under the sign.

Reaching out, I picked up the sign and saw a folded piece of paper hidden underneath.

"..." She only found it after all the other parents had finished reading the letter.

Fang Bai picked up the note, hesitated for a few seconds as she unfolded it, wondering what Ji Yuning would write to her.

What could it be?

Fang Bai couldn't guess.

Fang Bai coughed lightly and slowly unfolded the paper. The next second, Fang Bai's expectations were dashed, leaving him only with confusion.

On the huge sheet of paper, only two words were written:

【Thanks.】

What should I thank her for? Should I thank her for attending her parent-teacher conference?

"..."

After reading the letters, He Wei said a few more words, and then the parent-teacher meeting was over.

The end time coincides with school dismissal time, allowing students to leave with their parents.

Ji Yuning was left behind by He Wei to help, while Fang Bai went downstairs first to avoid the parents who came up to greet her.

The school playground was just a short distance away from the teaching building. A whistle blew, and Fang Bai subconsciously looked towards the green grass, walking towards it as he looked.

Waiting for Ji Yuning by the playground is not bad either; at least no parents will come to the playground.

Just as Fang Bai was about to reach the fence of the playground, someone suddenly called her from behind:

"Fang Bai?"

The person named Fang Bai wasn't quite sure if it was her; their tone was a mixture of confirmation and doubt.

Fang Bai had never heard this person's voice before, so he assumed it was a friend of the original owner and turned to look in the direction from which the voice came.

At just one glance, Fang Bai froze on the spot.

A woman in a red suit with extremely bright red lips got out of a car parked a few steps away. Her hair was curly and reached her chin. Her eyes were upturned at the corners. The red suit she wore was not tacky at all, but rather exuded an indescribable charm and allure.

When the woman saw Fang Bai's back, she was only suspicious, but when Fang Bai turned around, she immediately confirmed it.

The woman looked directly at Fang Bai and walked straight towards her.

Seeing Fang Bai's expression, the woman's lips curled into a wicked smile. She lifted a strand of hair from Fang Bai's chest with her finger, "It's been so hard looking for you."

Fang Bai didn't speak, but glanced down at the strands of hair that the woman had tangled in her fingers.

Fang Bai pulled the hair out of the woman's hand and looked up at the person in front of her. She saw the woman suddenly look behind her, and the smile on her lips froze for a moment before becoming even stronger.

Noticing that Fang Bai was looking at her, the woman looked back at him. She pulled another strand of hair into her hand, and just as Fang Bai was about to pull it out again, the woman took a step forward and whispered something in Fang Bai's ear that only they could hear.

After saying that, the woman ignored Fang Bai's reaction, took a small step back, and gave him a forced smile, saying, "See you later~"

After saying that, the woman turned and got into the car parked by the roadside. In the few seconds that the car window was rolled up, the woman smiled at Fang Bai and waved her hand slightly by her face.

The car drove towards the school gate. Once it was out of sight, Fang Bai suppressed his emotions and turned his head to look in the direction the woman was looking.

Ji Yuning, carrying a schoolbag, walked towards her from a distance, her expression obscured.

Fang Baixin suddenly calmed down.
