To make the performance more believable, she had no choice but to nod.
After finishing her business, Ji Yuning returned to the banquet hall alone.
After entering, Ji Yuning followed the route Fang Bai had taken.
In the corner directly opposite the lounge, a woman in a light-colored long dress sat there, her fair neck hunched over, her body elongated by her tilted head back, making her quite a sight to behold from a distance.
On the small round table in front of her, the bottle of wine was already more than half empty.
Lu Raomei rested her head on her hand on the sofa, swirling a cup in her other hand, her eyes fixed on Fang Bai.
Seeing Fang Bai put down his cup, Lu Raomei smiled and asked, "Was it good?"
Fang Bai frowned: "So-so."
Not sweet, a little spicy.
"Then drink some more, maybe it will taste better." With that, Lu Raomei picked up the wine that she had already poured for Fang Bai and handed it to him.
"Mm," Fang Bai responded, subconsciously taking it.
Fang Bai didn't know how many drinks he had. The first two drinks were to try and get information out of Lu Raomei, but the rest were just because he was drunk and was led astray by Lu Raomei.
Warm lips pressed against the cool glass, the liquid flowing inside glistening alluringly.
Fang Bai knew she had been drinking too much.
Just as Fang Bai was about to put down his glass, it was suddenly snatched away from his hand.
Fang Bai stared blankly as a person stood in front of her.
Backlit, her face was obscured, but judging from her clothes and the overwhelming sense of oppression, the newcomer was Ji Yuning.
Fang Bai's aloofness towards Lu Raomei instantly softened, and he called out softly, "Xiao Ning."
The drunkard's voice, soft and delicate like a flower petal, drifted into Ji Yuning's ears.
The coldness on Ji Yuning's face lessened a bit. "Mm."
Fang Bai propped herself up on the sofa and stood up, and Ji Yuning grasped her delicate arm.
With Ji Yuning's support, Fang Bai walked steadily to Ji Yuning's side and said, "I want to go home."
Before Ji Yuning could respond, someone spoke up first: "Wait a minute."
Lu Raomei took a sip of the last drink in her glass, tilted it towards Fang Bai, and said to Ji Yuning, "She promised to drink with me, and now she's leaving? That's not very nice of her, is it?"
Ji Yuning's eyes were filled with coldness. She thought that Fang Bai would be safe going to Fang Maozhou, but she didn't expect that he would still run into Lu Raomei.
Pulling Fang Bai to her side, Ji Yuning said calmly, "I didn't agree."
"You can represent her?" Lu Raomei scoffed. "Your surname is Ji."
Just as Ji Yuning was about to speak, an arm suddenly appeared in front of her. Fang Bai, with a tight smile, blocked Ji Yuning behind him.
"Why is Mr. Lu arguing with a child?"
Child?
A dark light flashed in Lu Raomei's eyes. The one just now was a child, but this one could probably only be described as old.
Fang Bai turned to Ji Yuning and said, "Give me the wine."
Ji Yuning didn't move.
Fang Bai reached out to grab it, but Ji Yuning raised her arm to avoid him, and then brought the cup to her lips.
By the time Fang Bai reacted and tried to grab it, Ji Yuning had already placed the empty wine glass on the table. Without even glancing at Lu Raomei, she grabbed Fang Bai's arm and turned around.
However, after taking a step, Ji Yuning turned her head and said in a flat tone, "President Lu seems to have a lot of free time."
"What?" Lu Raomei asked.
Ji Yuning had already walked away.
Watching the figure walk away, Lu Raomei frowned involuntarily, a bad feeling rising in her heart.
Fang Bai was led by Ji Yuning out of the banquet hall. She didn't feel anything while sitting, but after taking a few steps, Fang Bai felt increasingly dizzy. When they entered the elevator, she subconsciously rested her head on Ji Yuning's shoulder.
The sudden weight made Ji Yuning look down and see only Fang Bai's fluffy hair on the top and sides, with pink ear tips.
Seeing that Fang Bai's head was about to slide off his shoulder, Ji Yuning raised her hand first and pressed Fang Bai's head down.
Before going downstairs, Ji Yuning had already called Uncle Li. As she helped Fang Bai out of the hotel, Uncle Li happened to park his car in front of the door.
After being helped into the car by Ji Yuning, Fang Bai rested her head against the car window. After Ji Yuning got into the car, she groaned and leaned against Ji Yuning's shoulder, muttering, "My head hurts so much."
Ji Yuning pursed her lips and said to the person in the front seat, "Let's find a pharmacy first."
Uncle Li responded.
The moment the car started moving, Ji Yuning pressed her fingers around Fang Bai's temples and applied slight pressure. "Here?"
Fang Bai shook his head, subconsciously grabbed Ji Yuning's hand and placed it on the spot where she felt pain, and hummed: "Here."
After giving his instructions, Fang Bai withdrew his hand.
Ji Yuning silently pressed and rubbed the designated spot with her fingers.
Despite it being their first time, the two acted as if they had done it countless times before.
Five minutes later, the car stopped in front of a pharmacy. Without Ji Yuning saying anything, Uncle Li knew what medicine to buy.
After Uncle Li took two steps, Ji Yuning withdrew her hand and called out in a deep voice, "Fang Bai."
Ji Yuning's massage was so comfortable that Fang Bai felt drowsy. As Ji Yuning withdrew her hand, Fang Bai's sleepiness gradually disappeared. "Hmm?"
"Lu Raomei is in danger, and afterwards you—"
Ji Yuning's mouth was covered by Fang Bai's hand.
"I know without you saying it." Fang Bai reached over Ji Yuning's body, grabbed her hand, and placed it on her head. "Continue massaging."
Fang Bai's actions shattered the coldness on Ji Yuning's face.
Staring at the person whose cheeks were flushed and who was clearly drunk, Ji Yuning pursed her lips.
Fang Bai wouldn't remember what she did when she was drunk.
"Fang Bai?"
Fang Bai opened his eyes, his eyes slightly misty. "I'm here."
Ji Yuning's eyes darkened, and she asked in a hoarse voice the question she wanted to know: "You've always called him Fang Bai?"
Having been questioned about many things, this was the first time someone had questioned her name. Fang Bai slapped down the arm blocking her eyes, then sat up, touching the seat with her hand while shaking her head from side to side.
Ji Yuning, puzzled as to why the person who was as drunk as a marshmallow had suddenly become energetic, asked, "What are you looking for?"
Unable to find anything, Fang Bai frowned deeply, and his tone was anxious as he replied to Ji Yuning: "ID card."
"~"
A barely perceptible smile flashed in Ji Yuning's eyes. She knew Fang Bai would be different when he was drunk, but she didn't expect him to be so... adorable.
Seeing that Fang Bai was about to get out of the car to look for someone, Ji Yuning pressed down on his hand as he opened the car door. "It's at home. You didn't bring it out."
Ji Yuning's voice was soft but very convincing, and Fang Bai's anxious emotions gradually calmed down: "Oh."
Fang Bai leaned against Ji Yuning again, humming, "I'll show you my ID card when we get home."
“No documents are needed,” Ji Yuning said softly. “I’ll believe you as long as you tell me.”
The name on the document was not what she wanted to know.
The words sounded familiar, but Fang Bai's mind was foggy and he couldn't remember where he had heard them before.
After thinking for a while, Fang Bai still couldn't remember. She was getting anxious, but there was no use in being anxious; she still couldn't recall it.
…So she simply stopped thinking about it.
However, unable to recall where she had heard it before, Fang Bai felt annoyed. She looked at the culprit and muttered, "Little brat."
Fang Bai then closed his eyes, no longer wanting to pay attention to Ji Yuning.
Not getting an answer, Ji Yuning didn't press the matter further.
Just as Ji Yuning placed her fingers on Fang Bai's forehead and continued to massage it, she heard a soft murmur beside her ear, which was almost inaudible if they weren't so close:
"Let's call him Fang Bai."
Chapter 60
After whispering, Fang Bai's soft breathing reached Ji Yuning's ears.
One beat after another, echoing even louder than a heartbeat.
A loud roar echoed on the road, interrupting Ji Yuning's detailed recounting of patterns.
With a soft moan, Fang Bai twisted his body, his face unconsciously shifting as he turned to the side, until finally his entire face was revealed to Ji Yuning frame by frame, like an animation.
Thin eyebrows and red lips.
Like flowers in a flowerbed after being battered by rain, they are delicate and vibrant.
Fang Bai's lipstick had faded considerably, and it was unclear where it had been left.
Ji Yuning thought of that wine glass; she had seen it when she drank from it, and there was a faint mark on it.
It's blurry, but you can still tell that the lips are full.
The alcohol content is unknown; it could be fruit wine or a high-proof spirit.
Regardless of the time, before leaving the hotel, or rather, before this moment, Ji Yuning felt no signs of having drunk alcohol at all.
However, she suddenly became drunk.
Ji Yuning clearly understood that what made her drunk was not the glass of wine she suddenly remembered, but Fang Bai's slightly parted red lips and the aroma of wine emanating from her.
