Your Majesty - Chapter 16
"Fairy... Sister... Sister?" The young master turned his eyes, which were thinner than needle points, and called out to Pang Wan in a weak voice.
This crucial sentence finally stopped Pang Wan from releasing his five claws.
"Little brother, you were robbed by bandits, but your sister has chased them all away. You are safe now." Pang Wan, her vanity satisfied, began to speak softly and gently, completely entering the role of a fairy.
"Thank...thank...sister..." The young master reached out to touch Pang Wan, but found that he could not reach her, and finally could only let his hand hang down limply.
Pang Wan nonchalantly avoided the young master's pig's trotters and said with a smile, "If you're going to help someone, go all the way. Little brother, do you have a signal flare on you? I'll light it for you!"
The young master nodded, gesturing with his eyes that the item was in his arms.
Pang Wan reached into his robes and pulled out two things: a signal flare and a black jade pendant.
"Sorry, my hand was a bit too big." She smiled sheepishly and tried to put the jade pendant back in.
Unexpectedly, the young master reached out and pushed him away.
“The… token… came… to… Lin… Yi… to… find… me…” The young master finished these words weakly, as if he had exhausted all his strength. He gasped for breath, and a trace of dark blood flowed from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing his half-dead state, Pang Wan thought to herself how could she disobey the request of a dying man, so she put the jade pendant into her waistband and generously said, "Alright!"
Seeing that she had accepted the jade pendant, the young master was finally relieved, closed his eyes, and fainted.
"So you're at peace now?" Pang Wan looked at him with a puzzled expression, stepped out of the sedan chair, and lit a signal flare.
Bright fireworks illuminated the valley and her face. Some of the attendants in the caravan had already woken up and were watching this scene from afar, shouting to her, "May I ask your honorable name, my benefactor?"
"Me?" Pang Wan stared at the dazzling display in the sky, momentarily dazed.
After a while, she said softly, "Sang Chan, my name is Sang Chan."
Alliance Leader Gu Xiju
When Pang Wan returned to Bai Xiaosheng's side, she was somewhat unsteady on her feet.
She hadn't fully recovered from the awe and reverence everyone had shown her. Kneeling and kowtowing, bowing and worshipping—that was the kind of admiration one would only feel when facing a fairy! Pang Wan had always been the infamous Holy Maiden of the Demonic Sect, hated by everyone in the martial arts world. How could she ever be so respected by righteous people?
Hehe, pretending to be an innocent and pure person feels pretty good.
She quickly walked back the way she came, and Bai Xiaosheng, leading two horses, waited quietly for her under the tree.
"A resounding victory?" He smiled knowingly when he saw her return unharmed.
“…The bandits are weak, and I happen to have some martial arts skills…” Pang Wan didn’t know how to respond for a moment, and scratched his head.
Bai Xiaosheng smiled without saying a word and handed her the reins: "Let's go, the sun is setting."
He was always so understanding and never embarrassed Pang Wan.
Pang Wan almost hugged him and kissed him.
Walking along the road in the setting sun, Bai Xiaosheng suddenly said to her, "Wanwan, white doesn't suit you."
Pang Wan was stunned by his unexpected remark. She looked down at her white gauze dress, wondering what it meant.
“Just now I saw how fiercely you fought the bandits,” Bai Xiaosheng added leisurely behind her. “White is too pale and can’t contain your aura. You should choose a richer color, such as…” His gaze fell on the blood-red sun not far away, and his eyes darkened, “red.”
To Pang Wan, this was a veiled accusation that she was too murderous. Pang Wan thought to herself, "I didn't even kill a single bandit; I only crippled them. How could I be so murderous?" So, feeling resentful, she gave an irritable "Oh."
Seeing her reluctant expression, Bai Xiaosheng knew she hadn't listened, so he smiled faintly and changed the subject: "Would you like to get closer to the Alliance Leader, young lady?"
Pang Wan's eyes lit up, and he turned his head with an eager look: "Of course! The Jade Dragon Token is still in that guy's hands!"
—Although finding the Jade Dragon Token isn't urgent, she's been out of the sect for over a month and still has no clue. The sect leader might cut off her financial support one day, so she has to make a show of it first, since the Demonic Sect's spies are everywhere!
Bai Xiaosheng nodded and said, "As far as I know, the Alliance Leader will be resting in the Purple Bamboo Forest in the suburbs at noon tomorrow. You can go there to meet him."
Pang Wan's eyes widened: "There won't be an ambush?"
Bai Xiaosheng chuckled: "Why would I ambush you?"
Pang Wan thought about it and realized it made sense, so she pouted with a mix of happiness and suspicion: "Xiaosheng, why are you so good to me?"
Bai Xiaosheng rubbed his forehead, wanting to say that I was just nicknamed Bai Xiaosheng and not actually named Bai Xiaosheng, but... he shook his head and gently raised the corners of his mouth at Pang Wan: "You'll find out later."
Pang Wan squinted at him for a long time, then suddenly shivered: "Xiaosheng, listen to me! There's no future for us! I'm going to marry the male lead, and you, judging from your name and your kung fu, are destined to be a supporting character!"
Bai Xiaosheng was so angry that he burst out laughing.
"I know, I know. You are devoted to the Alliance Leader. How could I possibly have any improper thoughts about you?"
He patted Pang Wan's shoulder to comfort him.
"You have to believe me, I really don't want to hurt you!" Pang Wan couldn't help but sigh with melancholy as she recalled the young man in gray at the restaurant.
Bai Xiaosheng waved his hand, indicating that she didn't need to say anything more.
Seeing his displeasure, Pang Wan didn't continue to remind him; as long as the goal was achieved, that was enough.
And so the two people, each with their own secrets, parted ways.
The next day, Pang Wan arrived at the Purple Bamboo Forest at 9:00 AM, a full hour earlier than Bai Xiaosheng had said it would be noon.
She has always been someone who likes to plan ahead.
Because they arrived early, they wandered around the woods to familiarize themselves with the terrain, and eventually came to a bamboo house.
"Is the Alliance Leader still taking a bath?" Suddenly, someone was heard speaking from behind the rocks.
