Your Majesty - Chapter 26

Chapter 26

"The Alliance Leader ordered you to kneel down!" Maid B repeated in a shrill voice.

"Why are you kneeling?" Pang Wan stared blankly at Gu Xiju, her pretty face drained of color. "I've already admitted my mistake!"

"You dare disobey the Alliance Leader's orders?" Maid B sneered, her sword already drawn. *Clang!*

Pang Wan turned to look at Bai Xiaosheng in a daze, only to see him silently shift his gaze and nod heavily—he wanted her to kneel as well.

“You can punish me, you can blame me, but I cannot kneel.”

Pang Wan mustered her courage and looked at Gu Xiju again, speaking solemnly, word by word.

At this moment, a complex expression appeared on her stubborn little face: expectation, trust, and a hint of pleading that had never appeared before—she had her dignity, she could not kneel.

The Holy Maiden of Moon Worship has only ever worshipped Heaven and Earth and her ancestors in this life. Even the cult leader has never been willing to let her kneel. Why should she kneel for a woman?

His deep gaze was fixed on her face. Gu Xiju looked at her, something seemed to be flickering in his narrow eyes.

Pang Wan could never see clearly.

"Kneel down."

After a long silence, two words were uttered softly from those handsome, thin lips, the voice low and hoarse, carrying the danger of an impending storm.

Maid B laughed, a smug laugh that said, "I knew it would turn out like this."

Bai Xiaosheng let out a soft sigh.

Pang Wan stood there alone, without saying a word.

In that instant, she suddenly understood a principle.

No matter how much he usually pampers himself, that's not Gu Xiju's true nature. His affection and indulgence are nothing more than an act to win people's hearts; he's just temporarily sheathing his claws to achieve his goals.

Gu Xiju is a dragon that pretends to be asleep but bites, and Sang Chan is his Achilles' heel.

He couldn't touch it, he couldn't even bear to steal a glance at it.

“I will not kneel.” Having understood the principle, Pang Wan smiled.

A glint flashed in Gu Xiju's eyes.

“You are a human being, Sang Chan is a human being, and I am a human being.” She raised her chin, her back ramrod straight. “We are all equal, so why should I kneel?”

"The Alliance Leader punished you not because of Fairy Sangchan, but because you, as a maid, disobeyed your master's orders."

Bai Xiaosheng coughed and frowned.

"Yes, it was indeed wrong of a maid not to obey the leader's orders."

Pang Wanchong raised the corners of his mouth, his rosy face radiant with energy.

Gu Xiju narrowed his eyes—for some reason, he didn't like this smile, he really didn't like it.

"So, I quit!"

He took off the token and threw it on the ground with a clatter. Pang Wan turned around, tossed his hair, and walked out the door with long strides, without looking back.

Gu Xiju's knuckles tightened as he gripped the armrest, turning faintly bluish-white.

"Where do you think you're going?!"

Maid B leaped into the air, thrusting her long sword straight at Pang Wan's heart.

With a clang, the sword was blocked by a golden whip just three centimeters from its target.

"Trying to ambush me?" Under the cold light, the girl's almond-shaped eyes burned like magma, yet also exuded extreme coldness.

Even though the maid was a seasoned warrior, she was taken aback by the opponent's fierce aura.

With a snap, a powerful attack suddenly came, forcing her to take two steps back.

"Go back and train for another three years!" The girl gave her a disdainful smile.

With two swishes, the golden whip retreated to his waist, and Pang Wan leaped onto the roof, disappearing in an instant.

"Alliance Leader!" Maid B was anxious and wanted to run after him, but dared not act rashly on her own. She subconsciously looked at Gu Xiju's expression.

Gu Xiju sat quietly in the chair, gazing in the direction where the girl had disappeared, without saying a word.

At this moment, no one could guess whether his expression was one of sorrow or joy, anger or resentment.

No one dared to guess.

Young Master Qinglu

Emerging from the tavern, Pang Wan's face was flushed, and her steps were slightly unsteady.

"You bastard!" she hiccuped and kicked a pile of rubble by the roadside.

"You blockhead!" She stomped on the innocent pile of pebbles several more times in anger.

"I hate you!" She stepped on the rubble with her other foot and jumped twice.

"Ouch!" He crouched down, clutching his ankle—he'd twisted his joint from the excitement.

"Where did this young lady come from? Why are you all alone?"

As she looked down to examine her injuries, three burly men wielding knives suddenly descended from the sky.
