Chapter 91

………………

The weather was clear and cloudless; one would expect people to be in a good mood under such weather conditions.

However, Lü Tao's face was gloomy. Sitting in the back seat of the car, he looked at his silent parents in the front row, not knowing what to say. He could only stare blankly out the window.

His parents were expressionless, but there was a hint of expectation in their eyes, as if something had ignited their hope.

After driving for about half a day, we arrived in the suburbs and stopped at an internet addiction treatment center. Several doctors in white coats came out to greet us, clearly having been informed in advance.

Lu Tao was reluctantly pulled out of the car by his parents. He shook off their hands and stood to the side, looking somewhat lonely.

He wouldn't be addicted to the internet if his parents had spent more time with him. Instead, they seemed unwilling to spend time counseling him and sent him to an internet addiction treatment center.

Led by his parents, Lü Tao entered the internet addiction treatment clinic. He spent most of his time playing games and didn't know much about this type of clinic. However, he thought that such clinics were just about persuasion and had nothing new.

As he entered the hospital, a sense of oppression washed over him, as if something was pressing on his heart, making it difficult to breathe. Lu Tao glanced at his parents, but they didn't seem to be acting strangely.

Am I just imagining things?

Lu Tao shook his head, turned around and saw several teenagers sitting in chairs with blank stares. When they saw the passing doctor, a hint of fear flashed in their eyes, and then they sat up even straighter and more upright.

"What's wrong with them?" Lu Tao couldn't help but ask, after all, these people were behaving very strangely.

The doctor, who was walking ahead of his parents, stopped in his tracks, raised an eyebrow, and looked at Lü Tao with a hint of amusement before saying in a serious tone, "These are teenagers who have undergone rehabilitation. They have fully realized their mistakes and corrected them."

Upon hearing this, and looking at the dazed teenagers, Lü Tao felt a surge of fear and couldn't help but grab his parents' hands, whispering, "Mom and Dad, let's go home!"

"This hospital seems quite good. Why don't you stay for a few more days?"

Seeing that Lü Tao was starting to get scared, Lü Tao's father became more satisfied with the hospital. After all, no matter how many times he beat or scolded his son at home, he would still go to internet cafes. He had lost hope after repeated failures of violent discipline.

Lu Tao wanted to argue, but his parents were taken into the doctor's office. Before closing the door, the doctor glared at him with a cruel look in his eyes, like a butcher about to slaughter livestock.

Not long after, the doctor brought Lu Tao's parents out. The two said a few words to Lu Tao, ignored his dissatisfaction, and drove away, leaving Lu Tao alone in the office.

Lu Tao looked at the doctor's drastically changed expression. His kind face had vanished, replaced by a cold one, with a strange smile playing on his lips. Lu Tao glanced at the name tag on the doctor's chest: Yang Yongxin.

After a long silence, Dr. Yang suddenly asked, "How long have you been addicted to the internet?"

Lu Tao remained silent. He wanted to rebel in this way, to make the doctors unable to stand him, and then send him home.

However, it was clear that his method did not work here. Dr. Yang just sneered, pressed a button, and a group of tall security guards came in, pressed him down onto a chair, and tied his hands and feet, making him unable to move.

"What do you want to do! Let me go!"

Dr. Yang chuckled, his expression somewhat lewd. He told the security guards to leave and locked the door. He then took out a device that Lü Tao recognized; he had seen it on television before, and it seemed to be used for electrotherapy.

Lu Tao struggled desperately, but the ropes were too tight and he couldn't break free. He yelled at Dr. Yang, "Let me go right now, or I'll report you for illegal imprisonment!"

Dr. Yang wasn't angry at all; his expression grew increasingly sinister. He connected the electrode wires from the instrument to Lü Tao's head and hands, and said in a sarcastic tone, "After you've experienced this, you can decide whether you want to sue me. Let me give you a two-milliampere test first."

After speaking, Dr. Yang pressed the button, and the instrument was instantly powered on. However, the display on the instrument panel showed 10 milliamps instead of 2 milliamps.

The electric current traveling along the electrode wires stimulated Lü Tao's body, causing him immense pain that made him scream loudly. His body began to tremble violently, shaking like a sieve. His eyes rolled back, revealing the whites of his eyes, and drool dripped from the corner of his mouth onto the ground.

After about three minutes, Dr. Yang turned off the instrument, squinted, and asked, "Do you know you made a mistake?"

"Let me go, I want to go home," Lu Tao said, trembling. The doctor in front of him seemed like a demon in human skin. He wanted to go out and report this guy so that he could be punished by law.

Dr. Yang seemed to understand Lü Tao's thoughts and turned the instrument back on, but this time it was set to 20 milliamps.

The electric current struck again, the pain even more intense than before. His body felt as if it were being slowly sliced to pieces. The pain was relentless and agonizing, every second an ordeal. Lü Tao began to resent his parents for sending him to this place and for making him suffer.

Three more minutes passed, and Dr. Yang turned off the machine again, continuing to ask, "Do you know you were wrong?"

Lu Tao tried to open his mouth, but he didn't have the strength to speak. He was just panting heavily, and his clothes were already soaked with sweat.

"Looks like you're still not being good!"

The instrument was turned on again, and the intense electric current tormented Lü Tao time and time again, destroying his body and mind. His eyes gradually became dull, and his gaze towards Dr. Yang was filled with fear and awe.

Slowly, hatred welled up inside him, but he was powerless to resist because he was afraid—afraid of it all happening again.

Experiencing that excruciating pain, he slowly began to submit, like a tamed wild beast wagging its tail and begging for mercy.

Suddenly, the electric current disappeared, and Lü Tao's consciousness cleared. He stared intently at Dr. Yang in front of him.

Dr. Yang noticed that the equipment seemed to be malfunctioning, so he turned around and started fiddling with it.

At this moment, a man in black robes stood beside Lü Tao and whispered in his ear, "Do you hate it?"

"I wish I could eat his flesh and gnaw on his bones!" Lu Tao said in a hoarse voice, his face contorted with rage due to dehydration.

"Very good, let's see how you perform. Don't let its power go to waste."

The man in black robes inserted a ball of light into his brain, and a flood of memories rushed in, the impoverished brain struggling to process the information.

The man in black glanced at Lü Tao, who was receiving the memories, and disappeared from the room. Meanwhile, Dr. Yang, who had already set up the equipment, turned around and looked at Lü Tao, whose eyes were closed, and let out a lewd laugh. "Alright, let's continue!"

"You really enjoy giving people a shock, so let you experience that feeling too!"

Lu Tao opened his eyes, golden lightning flashing incessantly within them, and glared venomously at Doctor Yang, "Those eyes are piercing!"
