Chapitre 32

When Shen Moyu returned to class, Su Jinning had just arrived as well. The bell rang as soon as she stepped into the classroom.

The Chinese teacher had already started the lesson when she saw Shen Moyu standing at the door, soaking wet, almost dropping the textbook in her hand.

The classmates all looked at him, and the classroom became unusually quiet for a moment.

Shen Moyu once again walked into the classroom, meeting the burning gazes of her classmates.

The Chinese teacher, having just recovered from her shock, hurriedly called out to Shen Moyu, who seemed to have lost her soul, and asked, "Moyu, why are you completely soaked? Didn't you bring an umbrella?"

Shen Moyu stiffly turned around and said, "Ah, um."

The Chinese teacher didn't know what was going on, but he couldn't bear to see him teaching completely soaked. Thinking this, he quickly took off his coat and stuffed it into Shen Moyu's hands, saying with some concern, "Put this on quickly, you're all wet, you'll catch a cold."

Shen Moyu nodded obediently and replied, "Thank you, teacher."

Their Chinese teacher was named Han An, a gentle young teacher who had returned to teach right after graduation. So they were lucky enough to become Han An's first class of students. Han An was humorous and cheerful, understood his classmates' little thoughts, and was also handsome, so he was very popular with his classmates.

Shen Moyu felt much warmer with her coat on. She smiled at Han An and was about to turn back to her seat when she suddenly remembered something and turned back to ask, "Teacher, do you have mysophobia?"

Han Angang had just opened his workbook when he heard his words and was a little confused: "Huh?"

He watched Shen Moyu standing in the hallway carrying his clothes. After a moment's thought, he grinned and calmly replied, "No, those clothes haven't been washed for half a month anyway."

"Hahahaha..." Hearing the teacher's teasing, all the students in the class shifted their attention.

——

In the afternoon, Su Jinning skipped class several times, leaving without asking the teacher for leave. By the time the teacher found out she wasn't in class, it was almost time for school to end.

Shen Moyu didn't have a good afternoon either. She couldn't concentrate on what the teacher was saying and missed most of the lessons.

He was even called on by the teacher to answer questions, but he couldn't answer any of them. Even when he got the questions right, he would misread the answers and was punished by being made to stand in the corner several times.

When Su Jinning returned to class, it was almost time for school to end. He still had a lollipop dangling from his mouth. Unfortunately, Jin Shuo caught him red-handed and scolded him for a long time in the corridor before letting him go back to class.

But Jin Shuoshuo's anger wasn't so easily appeased. She crossed her arms, raised her chin, and ordered, "A batch of Chinese language workbooks just arrived. Go to the administration office on the first floor across the street and pick them up."

Su Jinning pouted, suspecting that Jin Shuoshuo was deliberately making things difficult for her: "You expect me to fetch all the books for the whole class by myself?"

Jin Shuoshuo rolled her eyes at him: "Nonsense. The other boys will be back soon, you should hurry up and go down with them."

Su Jinning said "Oh" and reluctantly went downstairs.

As I walked towards the playground, most of the students who had picked up their books had already returned, leaving only a few who had just come out of the academic affairs office.

The playground was muddy after the rain, and one could easily slip and fall flat on their face. Su Jinning wandered around for a while before finally reaching the opposite teaching building. She breathed on the glass door to clear her vision, making it impossible to see anything inside. As soon as she pushed the door open, she bumped into someone.

"Depend on……"

With his exclamation, the sound of books clattering to the floor echoed down the corridor.

Su Jinning lowered her head, Shen Moyu raised his head, and their eyes met.

Shen Moyu paused for a moment, her hands resting on a workbook that had fallen to the ground.

"Tsk." Su Jinning bent down impatiently, picking up the books at her feet one by one under his gaze, putting them away in her hands, and not forgetting to mock, "Don't you even know how to watch where you're going?"

Shen Moyu rubbed his nose, wanting to say, "Aren't you the same?" but swallowed the words back.

The two walked side by side on the damp back playground after the rain. The evening breeze was a bit chilly. Shen Moyu rubbed his nose and subconsciously glanced at Su Jinning beside him. He still had the same cold expression. The atmosphere was a little awkward.

Shen Moyu stared blankly at the fallen leaves at his feet. He thought to himself that he should probably pack away his winter clothes. There seemed to be some clothes still hanging on the clothes rack; he should remember to take them down when he got home, or they would fade in the sun.

Thinking of this, he subconsciously thought of Su Jinning's coat. He paused slightly and looked at the figure by the path.

Shen Moyu pursed his lips. Although it wasn't intentional, he was still the one who lost it. No matter what Su Jinning said, he was also at fault.

He strode forward, and when he reached Su Jinning from behind, he breathed a sigh of relief and patted her on the shoulder.

Seeing Su Jinning turn around, he actually felt a little nervous. Shen Moyu bit his lip and said apologetically, "I'm sorry about today. I'll go home and look for it for you. Maybe you left it at home."

Shen Moyu's voice was a little soft. Su Jinning pondered his words, but her eyes did not soften because of his apology. Instead, they made Shen Moyu feel sharp.

Su Jinning didn't reply, and quickened her pace on her own.

Shen Moyu suddenly felt wronged, closed her eyes tightly, and made a final attempt to persuade her: "Su Jinning, I'm not sure if I lost your things, but the clothes were in my hands after all, I'm very sorry."

Even after he said that, Su Jinning only paused for a moment and did not turn around.

Shen Moyu's temper flared up, and he coldly shouted, "How much? I'll pay you back."

He didn't want to complicate things. Even if they had a falling out later, he didn't want to owe this person anything if he was the one who lost it.

Su Jinning seemed stunned for a moment, then denied in a low voice, "You can't afford to pay for it."

The same thing remains unchanged.

Shen Moyu choked, and only when Su Jinning's small figure was left did Shen Moyu take a step.

He looked at the person at the entrance of the classroom, his feelings inexplicably complicated.

I felt angry, guilty, and a little wronged.

He didn't see anything in his pocket. He knew Su Jinning was a germaphobe. He meant well. He clearly didn't see the jade pendant. Even so, is it all his fault?

Thinking about this, he was actually somewhat disappointed in that person.

——

Su Jinning always sleeps soundly on rainy days. She got up when the school bell rang, rubbed her sleepy eyes, and groggily began to pack her schoolbag.

Chen Hang, who was next to him, stretched and looked out at the heavy rain, instantly waking up: "Damn, Ning-ge, the rain outside is so heavy! Do you have an umbrella? I'm going to the bathroom."

Su Jinning clicked her tongue and said in a hoarse voice, "I only have one. Come back and return it to me after you've finished using the restroom."

Chen Hang looked at him with a bitter expression, sighed, and nodded.

The students left quickly, and soon only Su Jinning remained, silently waiting for her umbrella.

Looking at the empty classroom, he subconsciously glanced at Shen Moyu's seat again.

As the rain pattered on the ground, he suddenly remembered Shen Moyu's misty eyes in the alleyway near the cafeteria earlier that day.

He didn't know why the word "parents" was so sensitive to Shen Moyu, but Shen Moyu looked at him and almost cried.
