Chapitre 109

He lowered his head, shielding Shen Moyu's head against his chest, and pressed his lips to Shen's forehead, kissing away the fine beads of sweat.

But the kisses only wiped away the sweat, not the scars. The wound on Shen Moyu's body, which even Su Jinning dared not touch, was brutally torn open by someone else today.

The wound has closed, but the accumulated blood is still blocking the opening. The scar only covers it up, but it doesn't mean that it has truly healed.

He couldn't even offer words of comfort anymore. Why was he absent when Shen Moyu needed him?

What's the point of this so-called liking?

"Are you his girlfriend?" the policeman driving in the front suddenly asked.

A magnetic, gentle voice reached Su Jinning's ears. He tried to calm himself down, thought carefully for a moment, and replied, "Not yet."

"Not yet?" The young policeman looked at him through the rearview mirror, his beautiful peach blossom eyes, just like Shen Moyu's, narrowed slightly as if he were smiling: "Then it'll be soon?"

The more questions he was asked, the more annoyed Su Jinning became. How could a policeman sit in front of him and engage in sentimental chatter about such a life-or-death matter? He ignored him, keeping his head down and staring at Shen Moyu's face.

The policeman burst out laughing, his hands trembling slightly as he gripped the steering wheel. He couldn't stop laughing as he said, "Silly kid, he's not in any real danger. He might just be anemic? I was just kidding, hahaha..."

“…” Su Jinning.

The policeman was still smiling, but Su Jinning's face grew even uglier.

The policeman seemed to sense the murderous aura emanating from the back seat and quickly explained, "Shouldn't you be relieved? Don't look at me like that, kid."

"A kid?" Su Jinning repeated coldly, and after receiving what could be considered a comforting word, he relaxed considerably. He then took the opportunity to look the handsome policeman, who looked to be in his mid-twenties and was likely the captain, up and down.

He glared at him fiercely and said, "Officer, hasn't anyone reported you for fraud?"

"..." Officer.

"Are you arresting people for puppy love? Why ask so many questions? You'd be better off driving to the hospital." Although Su Jinning felt some comfort, she was still a little scared.

The police officer sighed, but couldn't help but murmur, "Look how nervous you are, you really like him?"

Su Jinning was stunned, her breathing trembled slightly during the pause, but she quickly retorted sharply: "Wouldn't you be nervous if the person you like got stabbed?"

The policeman froze, as if suddenly remembering something, his eyes momentarily vacant. But he quickly regained his composure: "Alright, I'm not teasing you anymore. We've arrived at the hospital."

Su Jinning seemed to have grasped at a lifeline and frantically carried Shen Moyu into the hospital.

"Doctor! Doctor! Stop the bleeding and save him!" When Su Jinning rushed in carrying Shen Moyu, who was covered in blood, a large group of patients retreated more than ten steps.

However, it was a well-known hospital in Shanghai. The patient's fear did not mean the hospital would ignore him. Soon, several young nurses came over and helped Shen Moyu lie down on the hospital bed.

One of the female nurses grabbed the walkie-talkie from her waist and said very quickly: "The patient has been stabbed and is bleeding heavily, and has lost consciousness. He needs immediate hemostasis and a blood transfusion."

“I know a doctor, I’ll contact him. You go up with him first, this child can’t be without you for a while.” The policeman glanced at Shen Moyu, who was still tightly clutching Su Jinning’s clothes, and took out his phone.

Su Jinning tried to comfort Shen Moyu on the hospital bed and remove his hand. But it was as if he was using all his strength; the more Su Jinning struggled, the less Shen Moyu let go.

Su Jinning took a deep breath and gently kissed Shen Moyu's lips. He looked up, his heart aching as he gazed at Shen Moyu's tightly furrowed brows, and with all his might, pulled his hands away.

The nurses exchanged surprised glances, but ultimately pushed Shen Moyu up to the second floor.

Su Jinning looked at the stairwell where Shen Moyu had disappeared and sighed softly.

"Don't worry, he looks fine, nothing bad will happen to him," the policeman said reassuringly, putting his arm around Su Jinning's shoulder.

"Nonsense." Su Jinning flinched, looking at him coldly. "You said in the car that you wouldn't be in any danger, but that was because of excessive blood loss. The nurses were even talking on the walkie-talkie." Su Jinning genuinely didn't know which of this policeman's words were true and which were false.

The policeman chuckled, "It is indeed somewhat dangerous, but I bet nothing will go wrong." He looked at Su Jinning with unwavering conviction.

After a moment, Su Jinning lowered her head and said softly, "I hope so."

The policeman leaned casually against the balcony, his long legs moving alternately. He looked like a work of art that had stepped out of an oil painting. He smiled meaningfully and turned to look at the scenery.

Su Jinning pursed his lips. He didn't know the background of this young plainclothes policeman, but he seemed like someone not to be trifled with. If he was the captain everyone was talking about, why was he handling such a trivial matter as a high school fight? And why did he have to drive his own BMW to take them both there?

The policeman raised an eyebrow slightly, appearing somewhat reverent with his back to the sunlight. He straightened his shirt and walked straight to the corner of the stairs: "I'm leaving now. You spend some quality time with your boyfriend."

"Hey!" Su Jinning stood up and said sincerely, "Thank you."

The policeman seemed to have guessed the question in Su Jinning's mind. Amidst the hurried crowd, he turned back, winked, and smiled, "It's nothing. My name is Zheng Fan. Until we meet again."

Good morning. Zheng Fan is a character I made a cameo appearance in another of my novels, but whether he will appear in a future novel is still uncertain.

Chapter 45 The Empress

"The knife wound wasn't too deep; he pulled on it repeatedly, causing excessive blood loss. However, the patient is out of danger but will need to stay in the hospital for further treatment." The doctor took off his mask and smiled with relief.

"Ah..." Su Jinning didn't react for a moment. After letting out a sigh of relief, he said gratefully, "Thank you, doctor. You've worked hard."

The doctor nodded politely: "It's alright, but remember the restrictions. You can't eat anything spicy, fishy, too sweet, or too salty. You can't do strenuous exercise to prevent the wound from tearing, and you can't take a bath or get the wound wet. If it's convenient, you can just wipe the patient with a damp towel. Ask me anything else."

Su Jinning nodded and watched the doctor leave. After waiting for a few more minutes, Shen Moyu was wheeled out by several nurses. His eyes lit up, and he rushed over to peek over the bed, afraid that the person who came out wasn't his Shen Moyu.

Shen Moyu was given anesthesia and was still unconscious, but his face was no longer as pale as before, and he was now lying obediently on the hospital bed.

"Um...you're a patient, and your partner is, right?" one of the nurses asked cautiously.

“Ah, I…” Su Jinning hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded.

Seeing him nod, the nurse didn't ask any more questions, only telling him where to pay. Seeing Su Jinning looking at the boy on the hospital bed with worry, the nurse sighed again: "Don't worry, he's fine, he'll wake up soon. Please wait a little while."

Su Jinning paused for a moment, then nodded and smiled. Watching the nurses push Shen Moyu away, a huge weight was lifted from his heart. Even though he had many questions he wanted to ask, Shen Moyu needed his company right now, so he decided to hold back his words.

There were quite a few people at the payment counter, and the entire floor was filled with patients wearing hospital gowns.

"No wonder it's a famous hospital in Shanghai; business is booming," Su Jinning thought, shaking his head. However, looking at the long queue ahead, he wondered how long he'd have to wait. What if Shen Moyu woke up before he got back, hungry, thirsty, scared, and needed him?

Just as Su Jinning was feeling annoyed, a pair of hands suddenly patted his shoulder. He turned around and met the eyes of the nurse behind him, looking somewhat puzzled.
