Les yeux d'Asura - Chapitre 4

Chapitre 4

"No...I know...I saw it, I saw them go to the next room...The old lady next door, she must...she must have taken the pretty clothes from their suitcase...They wanted to take me away, they wanted to..." Grandma murmured helplessly, her eyes closed...

A week later, Grandma passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack... I don't know if she saw those two men in red vests again, or if... this time, she chose the pretty clothes in the suitcase...

"Would you like some pretty clothes?"

Reply [22]: Ghost Boss

Let me first introduce myself. I am a female student from XX College, 21 years old, unmarried, and from a poor family.

After graduating this year, I was lucky (lucky my ass) to get a job at a well-known food company through an acquaintance's introduction, doing some data organization work. This was very easy for me, and I was secretly delighted.

I've been working here for three days now, and I've noticed that the people here are a bit strange. They don't talk much, and everyone's faces are always serious. Only a few nosy guys are trying to curry favor with me. Of course, I'm just as serious. I only get along well with one girl named Xiaofang, who is the secretary to the HR assistant.

The food company makes things like canned ham. The raw materials are all sourced from a factory in the suburbs of the city, and the products are sold far and wide, both within and outside the province. The company's office building has a total of nine floors. The three underground floors are processing workshops (which are said to be all automated production lines), and the six floors above are the office area. I am in the general manager's area on the sixth floor, but I have never met him. I couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. When I asked Xiaofang, she always just smiled and didn't say anything. Later, I stopped asking and thought that I would eventually meet him.

Day four.

"You're fired. Go to HR after get off work to settle your salary." The HR assistant's cold voice came from the next area, and I quietly turned my head away.

Xiao Fang stood there, her face pale, her mouth moving but she didn't speak.

"You can pack your things now. Ahua will take over your work." Before I knew it, he had silently come to my side, his cold hand resting on my shoulder, and I felt a chill run through my body.

I looked up at him. "Well, I've only been working here a few days, isn't that...?"

He tried to look at me with what he thought was a very gentle gaze, "You're fine, okay."

As if a cold wind had passed over me, I felt a chill run down my spine and nodded blankly.

He smiled with satisfaction, turned and went downstairs. "Your salary will be doubled starting tomorrow. Work hard." His office was on the first floor.

I stared blankly at Xiaofang, "You...".

She smiled and waved her hand—I was sure it was a sneer—and handed me a phone number. “Contact me when you have time. By the way, didn’t you ask about the boss? I’ve never seen him before, and I doubt anyone has.”

She gave me a meaningful look, then turned and went downstairs.

The next day, I officially became the secretary to Assistant Xie, handling official documents and invoices, which was not tedious. The office was on the sixth floor, and he did not work with us.

I've been working for almost a month now, and I still haven't seen the boss. Lao Xie is the one who chairs the meetings. He often asks me out to dinner after get off work. I only went politely the first time because I'm a little afraid of him. Besides, I don't really like older men. But he doesn't get angry; he just looks at me and smiles.

Over time, I noticed a strange phenomenon in the computer files: at least ten people were laid off every month, and they were all porters, mostly out-of-town employees. Locals like Xiaofang were extremely rare. I was puzzled. The reasons for the layoffs were not recorded. I guess the assistant manager, Lao Xie, has them. Hmm, I should call Xiaofang.

"Is Xiaofang there?"

"What? She's been missing for a month. Did the company say she went home?" I was instantly covered in cold sweat, a sense of foreboding creeping over me. How could this be?

I decided to sneak into the personnel department at night.

The HR department is on the first floor. I've figured out the routine: the security guards change shifts at 12 o'clock, leaving a 15-minute break, which should be fine. And Lao Xie usually goes home after get off work.

The building was eerily quiet at midnight, not a sound could be heard. I quietly hid in the corner on the first floor, watching the shadowy corridor. Only the red glow of the security guard's cigarette butt flickered in the distance. I was already starting to regret my actions; after all, I was a girl.

My curiosity and fear were clashing violently. Then, the clock struck twelve, and the security guards retreated.

Time was running out, so I gritted my teeth and slowly turned the doorknob to the HR department.

I've been here a few times. The room was deathly silent. I used a small flashlight to walk to the computer, which was still on. I went straight to the employee search bar.

The image did not appear as I expected; it was just a black shadow. Just as I was wondering what was going on, the shadow changed into a human figure.

I was taken aback. The person had initially lowered their head, but then slowly raised it, revealing their pearly white teeth as they smiled at me.

Lao Xie!!!

I could barely breathe, my hair stood on end, and I screamed as I rushed toward the door. I had only one thought in my mind: "A ghost, he's a ghost!"

A strange figure suddenly appeared in front of me, and I bumped into him hard. It was Lao Xie!

I could almost hear my teeth chattering and my heart pounding. "You, you..."

I was so terrified that I could no longer speak.

He smiled gently at me, just like always, "Honey, don't bother, I can tell you everything."

He pointed, and a large crack immediately appeared in the wall. "See? Just throw people down there to be processed into ham. It's so easy. Xiao Fang and the dismissed employees were all treated like this. But Xiao Fang brought it on herself, you know? The meat we get here is all from dead bodies. She accidentally saw some purchase orders. I can't take that risk. The same goes for the movers. Anyone who discovers the secret will die. But what about you?" He chuckled. "Was the ham you got last week good?" he teased.

My stomach churned, and I vomited violently. "You, you devil!"

As gentle as the wind, he had already pulled me into his arms. "Yes, baby, you will live forever with the devil. I love you."

I was completely exhausted, and my consciousness was gradually slipping away from my body. In my hazy state, I could only see his snow-white teeth slowly biting at me, long and thin.

Two days later, I became the new HR assistant.
