Глава 15

"Hehe, we meet again. Looks like you've taken good care of yourself." Why do I always feel that the tone of his "hehe" is a bit strange?

"Yes, I was very careful and didn't bump into anything, twist anything, or collide with anything," I reported truthfully.

"No, I mean, you've gained weight again, haha." He's only now starting to look at my legs.

I immediately stopped smiling and glared at him.

"Oh dear, this is terrible! It wasn't properly secured, and the bone has shifted!" he exclaimed in alarm.

"How could this happen? How could this happen?" I was even more shocked than him.

"Did you step on something hard, like someone's foot, a car's clutch, or an animal's tail?" He looked serious, as if it were a big problem.

"I just thought about it, I just thought about it for a moment," I quickly clarified.

"It's very troublesome when bones grow out of place. You have to break them up, put them back together, and let them grow all over again. It's very painful." His expression was also painful, as if it were his own bones that were being broken.

But believe me, my expression was definitely more pained than his.

"Doctor..." My voice began to tremble.

"Hehe, scared you, huh? I told you I used to act in stage plays, wasn't that great?" He started to laugh smugly.

My face started to turn green.

"Doctor, what do you take your patients for? If you like acting so much, why did you become a doctor?" I was angry; he had tricked me twice.

...Does that make me seem too serious? Looking at the doctor lowering his head, I felt a little unsure of myself.

"Originally, it was a painful memory that shouldn't be brought up, but since you've asked so sincerely, I'll tell you."

"I didn't ask. The declarative sentence you just used ended with a period." I quickly distanced myself from the situation.

"I'm so upset, I'm sure I'll make a mistake when I change the dressing. If it hurts, you have to bear with it." He started tapping the cast on my leg, looking completely innocent.

"Go ahead and talk, I'd love to hear it." How unlucky I am to have encountered doctors like this twice.

"You are just as interesting as I imagined. It was worth it for me to change my shift to wait for you."

What... what did he say...?

Finally, after all that trouble, I vowed never to set foot in that hospital again, while wondering where Shao Yuzhe had gone.

"He fell asleep on the sofa in my office, so when I changed your dressing, I signaled to the nurse to take him to my office to rest." It's rare for a doctor to be so kind and tell me so frankly.

"How come I didn't know?" Wasn't he right across from me when the dressing was being changed? How come I didn't see him give any instructions? Did he use superpowers? I looked at him suspiciously.

"Because you don't trust my medical skills."

I'm innocent! I don't doubt your medical skills at all; I doubt your character.

But then again, am I so slow-witted—no, so focused—that if he signaled the nurse to hit me with a club, I wouldn't even know it.

The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

"Actually, when he put you on the chair outside the door, I used my professional eye to see that he looked unwell and seemed very tired, so I told the nurse that I would take him to my office to rest after he registered. You were fooled, weren't you? Did you think I had superpowers? Haha."

Even without a professional eye, you can tell he's very tired.

And he tricked me again, which made me furious.

"Where is your office?" I asked bluntly.

"The third room on the left at the end of the corridor." He watched me hopping around without offering to help me.

When I found the office, I habitually looked up and saw it was the dean's office.

She still resented him.

Shao Yuzhe was asleep on the sofa. He was really tired, and I couldn't help but frown.

Tang Lei is a bastard...

The phone rang, but it wasn't mine, of course. Shao Yuzhe opened his eyes briefly, and I took it out of his suit pocket and pressed the button. He then closed his eyes again and went back to sleep.

The call went unanswered by Tang Lei.

The phone rang again, and this time I answered it without thinking.

"Hello, the number you dialed is currently switched off," I said in a high-pitched voice, repeating it in English to make it more believable.

"Nuan Nuan, stop fooling around, let Shao Yuzhe answer the phone." Tang Lei's calm voice came through.

"Mr. Tang, there should be a limit to how much you can enslave people," I said, a little angry.

"Nuan Nuan, the company has just taken on a very important case, we can't afford to be slow."

"This is outrageous! Aren't you afraid he'll make the wrong decision due to lack of sleep?"

"He assured me that he would take full responsibility." Tang Lei's voice remained flat, as was typical of his business-like manner.

"That's ridiculous. You're exploiting his labor and then expecting him to take responsibility. What kind of logic is that?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

“Nuan Nuan, Shao Yuzhe didn’t tell you, did he? He wanted you to rest more, so he took over your job.”

I froze, then turned to look at that sleeping face.
