Kapitel 18

[He Haobo]: Actually, I suddenly feel that these kinds of parties are quite boring.

[Yao Xingwei]: Yes, yes, and I heard that Fei Shuo really likes Yi Yi. Even if we go up to her, she might not even notice.

Seeing that the two passersby had become more aware of their role, Wen Cheng nodded in satisfaction and then posted her own question online.

[Wen Cheng]: I have a question. Is there any way for me to be a lazy bum (a person who is unambitious and content with just being lazy) openly? [shy]

You really do speak about your dreams without any pretense, without even bothering to embellish them!

Having gained a basic understanding of Wen Cheng, the two are now increasingly certain of his character: he really is a lazy bum, or at best, a lazy bum who's pretty good at games.

However, the two still gave Wen Cheng some very pertinent advice.

[He Haobo]: If you really stay at home and become a couch potato, I think your uncle might break your legs.

As we all know, Wen Yongwang, the head of the Wen family, built his business from scratch and is very strict with his two sons. Wen Qi is a prodigy and doesn't need any teaching, but Wen Yunyi, who has always been pampered by his parents, has never been lenient in his studies or career.

Therefore, while Wen Yunyi was shining brightly in the beauty industry, many second-generation and third-generation rich kids were still indulging in debauchery and hadn't yet come to their senses.

For the first time, Wen Cheng felt that being his father's son was so difficult. Thinking about how he was about to say goodbye to retirement, he couldn't help but feel emo.

[He Haobo]: Don't be so pessimistic, there's still a way! You can ask Yao Xingwei; he's an investor.

[Yao Xingwei]: Hey, what do you mean by this? Investing is a very tiring job for me, okay?

Investing? Wen Cheng's eyes lit up. This was indeed a good idea. He could find a reliable investor and just collect the money. Wasn't there one investor right now? Yao Xingwei. He remembered that the book had mentioned his investment once. When the main characters reached the finale, Yao Xingwei had also achieved great success in investment.

It even exceeded his family's original assets. Mr. Yao, who had always thought his son was useless, finally felt proud.

Yao Xingwei may not have many other qualities, but he has an exceptionally sharp eye for investment, or perhaps he's just incredibly lucky. Some projects that he likes are rejected by professionals, but he takes them without hesitation.

[Wen Cheng]: I think this is good. If you think any other one is good in the future, just call me and I'll invest in it. But I don't have much capital, only a little over 20 million.

[Yao Xingwei]: Damn, finally a brother trusts me like this. Yiyi was advising me not to do this, but only you, Chengcheng, only you understand me!

[He Haobo]: Hey, you're not talking about that holographic virtual reality mobile game, are you? Wen Cheng, don't believe it. It's unreliable. That team came to me too. Their equipment is too bad. They don't even have enough money for company advertising.

Wen Cheng sorted through the details in the book and concluded that this small team should be the new type of game team that later became very popular. Yao Xingwei's investment without hesitation led to his success.

[Wen Cheng]: I'll invest 20 million.

This project basically represents most of his wealth. Once it becomes profitable, he can legitimately retire and live a life of leisure. No, for such a lucrative project, he wants to drag Brother Qi along to make money as well, so that Brother Qi won't covet him anymore!

[Yao Xingwei]: Good brother, I definitely won't let you down. I'm just that far from it. Love you (heart emoji~)

Although this project would make money, Wen Cheng still sent a disdainful and vomiting emoji.

He Haobo then posted the next message.

He Haobo: Waaah, this is all from the bottom of his heart, what a scumbag!

Wen Cheng arrived at around 2 PM. By the time she finished get off work, the sky had suddenly darkened, with dark clouds gathering and pressing down, making it feel like it was suffocating.

Wen Qi had just finished a meeting and was seeing his business partner downstairs when a purple lightning bolt suddenly flashed across the sky, followed by continuous thunder that seemed to explode right above their heads.

Just as I stepped out of the company gate, the scattered raindrops suddenly accelerated, and a downpour began.

"Mr. Wen, let's go back first. The rain is going to get even heavier later. I heard it's going to be the biggest rainstorm in our province in recent years! It might even cause a power outage!" The driver, holding an umbrella, was about to help Wen Qi into the car.

Suddenly, all the lights in the building behind me went out.

...

Driver: I never thought my words would be so effective!

Wen Qi frowned, and after a while said "Wait a minute," he took out his phone and opened the contact "Idiot Brother."

The call was connected very quickly.

"Get off, let's go home. The rain is too heavy later, and we might get stuck in traffic and not be able to get back."

Wen Cheng was huddled by the window, watching the torrential rain pounding against the glass outside, her nerves stretched to the limit.

"Brother Qi, you should go back first. I think the scenery is quite nice, and I want to enjoy it for the night." Wen Cheng's voice trembled slightly.

What kind of bullshit reason is that? Wen Qi frowned deeply.

"...You can still enjoy it at home. But if you come down and the power goes out, what can you do up there?"

"...I can see the summer downpours washing away the turmoil in my heart." Cold sweat began to bead on Wen Cheng's forehead, and her voice grew increasingly weak.

But he couldn't tell Wen Qi that he was too afraid of the dark to go down.

I could only lean against the window and see a faint light.

"President Wen, let's hurry up, or we really won't be able to get back!" the driver urged from the side.

Wen Cheng forced a smile: "Brother Qi, don't worry about your adorable little brother. He just wants to contemplate his dreams in this stormy night!"

If Wen Cheng's voice hadn't trembled more and more, Wen Qi would have believed it to be true.

"Wait!"

Wen Qi hung up the phone after he finished speaking.

Wen Cheng stared at the glowing phone, wondering what she was waiting for—was she going to come up and deal with him?

Impossible, this is over twenty floors!

Chapter 20 has the same attributes?

Wen Cheng's fear of the dark is actually the same as most children's: she is afraid of the unknown that exists in the dark.

When Wen Cheng was little, the orphanage only had a small color TV in the living room. One night, Wen Cheng couldn't sleep, so he secretly went to the living room to watch TV by himself. The channel happened to be the movie channel that the director had tuned to in his room. Unlike other children, Wen Cheng didn't pick and choose what to watch. He would watch whatever was on TV, and he could watch even the most boring drama channel with great interest.

Then, the movie channel that was showing a horror movie late at night happened to be showing one. At first, Wen Cheng did not realize the seriousness of the situation until he saw a female ghost wearing blue clothes and with disheveled hair appear on the screen. His nightmare truly began then.

For the first few nights, Wen Cheng insisted on sleeping with the dean. Later, she became a little better and was able to accept sleeping in the same dormitory with her friends. Now, Wen Cheng's biggest tolerance is sleeping alone in her room, but she must have a small night light on.

In a power outage like today, it's impossible for Wen Cheng to go down the emergency exit alone; even glancing at the door makes him feel uneasy.

Moreover, his phone was almost out of battery, so he could only turn the brightness down to the lowest setting and endure the torrential rain night with trepidation.

About ten minutes later, Wen Cheng heard faint footsteps. His nerves tensed up, and childhood nightmares resurfaced in his mind. He instinctively hid behind the curtains.

But the sound didn't disappear; instead, it grew closer and closer.

Wen Cheng's nerves were on edge, and cold sweat broke out on her back.

Finally, there was the sound of the office door opening. Wen Cheng instinctively closed her eyes, trying to hide herself behind the curtains.

Wen Qi came up, panting heavily, his back soaked with sweat. Even by the light of his phone, he didn't see Wen Cheng sitting on the sofa. He was about to go to the room to check when he glanced at the floor-to-ceiling window and saw a figure huddled up in fear, hiding behind the sofa.

Wen Qi suddenly felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his heart. No wonder that idiot wouldn't let him come up.

"Warm orange".

The figure behind the curtains moved slightly.

Wen Qi called out again and followed him over.

Wen Cheng finally realized who it was. Qi Ge had actually climbed so high to find her! A wave of deep emotion washed over Wen Cheng. She drew back the curtains, ready to hug her older brother.

Then a muffled clap of thunder startled Wen Cheng, who shuddered back to her senses. After calming down, Wen Cheng saw Wen Qi staring straight at her.

Wen Cheng silently moved herself out from behind the curtains, her face already pale, but she still refused to budge: "Brother Qi, would you believe me if I said I was testing the quality of the curtains?"

Wen Qi responded with a cold laugh.

But the next second, he sat down next to Wen Cheng. His tall figure didn't seem cramped sitting on the window sill, which was only tatami high. Instead, it gave Wen Cheng a great sense of security.

Wen Cheng looked at Wen Qi's long, slender hand resting on his knee, and on a whim, asked, "Brother Qi, can I shake your hand?"

These words surprised both of them.

Wen Cheng suddenly covered her mouth, repeatedly reflecting on herself, realizing that she must have been too scared to say such stupid things!

Wen Qi pursed his lips. When he started climbing the stairs, he felt like he must be crazy to go through all that trouble to find his silly younger brother. He originally wanted to teach him a lesson, but seeing his pale face, yet still trying to suppress his fear and joke with him, Wen Qi suddenly couldn't bring himself to say anything.

She even began to wonder how Wen Cheng had spent her life before coming to this family.

Thinking it over, Wen Qi silently reached out his hand.

Wen Cheng stared at the hand in surprise, a tingling, sour feeling rising in her heart. A voice in her mind whispered in her ear, "Since I'm already in such a sorry state, it shouldn't matter if I'm a little fragile in front of Brother Qi, right?"

Wen Cheng carefully reached out and grasped Wen Qi's four fingers, holding them silently.

Wen Qi's hands were dry, but large, giving a great sense of security. In the darkness, Wen Cheng's senses were amplified. Aside from the headmaster and her childhood friends, Wen Cheng hadn't held hands with anyone like this in a long time.

It's very warm.

When Wen Qi held Wen Cheng's hand, he found that it was smaller and softer than he had imagined, and her palm was a little sweaty, probably from the fright she had experienced during the power outage.

Although it was supposed to be a handshake, neither of them mentioned letting go afterwards.

Wen Cheng finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"How's your wound from last time?" Wen Qi broke the silence.

"Alright! Brother Qi, the medicine you bought is really effective. Let me lift it up and show you!" Wen Cheng was very proactive in showing off the results of her efforts over the past few days, but then Wen Qi stopped her.

"Don't waste electricity, just go back and check." His phone battery was low too; he could only wait for the building to have power restored.

Wen Cheng shrank back again. Although it was cold, his heart was warm. Even though Brother Qi was angry, he still cared about him! He was someone's precious darling!

"Brother Qi, I've found what I want to do." Fully recharged, Wen Cheng became more talkative.

Wen Qi gradually relaxed and said, "Tell me."

"Invest!" Wen Cheng turned her head to look at Wen Qi, her eyes sparkling with a different kind of light.

Wen Qi couldn't help but undermine his confidence, "You really picked an easy dream for yourself."

Wen Cheng smiled guiltily.

But Wen Qi continued, "But this can indeed make money if done well. However, you can't just do this in the early stages. Your uncle will have some ideas. You need to show results first. Your major is computer science, so go to the Information Department to report for duty tomorrow."

Wen Qi didn't waste time during the meeting; he specifically found Wen Cheng a proper job.
