Chapter 66

Everyone else heard it, but Xi Jia didn't even look up, continuing to write.

The person next to Xi Jia whispered a reminder, "Graphic designer, Director Zhou is calling you."

I reminded them twice.

The sound was quite loud; even Zhou Mingqian, who was five or six meters away, could hear it.

This is like someone who takes advantage of a little kindness and tries to do something drastic.

Zhou Mingqian, feeling embarrassed, strode over and said, "Xi Jia, this is a work setting, not a place for you to throw a tantrum!"

Xi Jia looked up, her eyes icy. She didn't know what had gotten into him again, but she didn't dwell on it. "Does the script need rewriting? Which part? I'll change it right away."

Zhou Mingqian stood with his hands in his pockets, saying nothing, his eyes churning with turbulent emotions.

The two locked eyes in a silent confrontation.

Zhou Mingqian broke the silence, "Xi Jia, revising the script is your job. Even if you finish writing it before 11 o'clock, it can only be considered that you have successfully salvaged it. Don't think that you have made a great contribution!"

"Also, I'm calling you because it's work-related, so don't pretend you don't hear me and give me the cold shoulder! You'd better watch yourself."

Xi Jia's hand holding the pen trembled slightly. Had he called her again?

She heard nothing.

The set wasn't noisy at all, and she wasn't far from the monitor.

Xi Jia looked at Zhou Mingqian: "I was taking notes and didn't hear you. Next time, shout at me louder."

Zhou Mingqian chuckled self-deprecatingly.

His voice wasn't loud enough? Should we use a megaphone next time?

Every time, she used that notebook as an excuse.

He raised his chin slightly towards the notebook, "What are you doing memorizing all that useless stuff all day! Can't you do something useful?"

After saying that, he turned and left.

Zhou Mingqian went to the props team leader and told him that he needed to change a prop and asked to borrow one from Xi Jia.

The props team leader should go down.

Zhou Mingqian put his hands on his hips and took several deep breaths; his stomach was still aching.

He turned around and unconsciously looked towards Xi Jia.

Xi Jia stared blankly at the notebook on her lap, then pressed her eyelids, turned a page, and continued taking notes.

The props team leader went over; I wonder what he said to Xi Jia.

Xi Jia smiled and nodded. She closed her notebook, but forgot that she had another one on her lap. When she stood up, the other notebook fell to the ground.

Things spilled out of the notebook and landed all over the floor.

Rose petals and rose leaves.

Xi Jia squatted down, picked up the petals and leaves one by one, wiped them on the back of her hand, and then tucked them into her notebook.

Zhou Mingqian looked away and sat down in front of the monitor.

He put a cigarette in his mouth, took the lighter, and went outside.

Xi Jia walked ahead of him, holding the car keys in her hand, probably going to the car to get the pills.

Zhou Mingqian didn't go far; he lit a cigarette by the lake next to the film studio.

This is the shortest route from the parking lot to the film studio.

After finishing his cigarette, Zhou Mingqian tossed the butt aside and turned to look at the parking lot. No one was there. He subconsciously glanced around; Xi Jia had taken a detour and entered the studio via another side road.

Throughout the day, aside from discussing the plot, Xi Jia didn't say a single word to Zhou Mingqian, nor did she leave; she sat quietly by the monitor.

Yu An didn't return until noon and didn't know what had happened that morning. All afternoon, she sensed that Xi Jia and Zhou Mingqian weren't getting along.

Both remained silent and exchanged very little.

Yu An made Xi Jia a cup of taro milk tea, and the aroma filled the air.

"Sister Xi Jia."

Xi Jia smiled and said, "Thank you."

Seeing Yu An's warm eyes, she realized how beautiful the world was and that she didn't need to get angry with a volatile person.

We finished filming around 8 PM today. The scene went smoothly and turned out even better than expected.

Xi Jia didn't have dinner with the crew. Carrying her heavy notebook, she walked back to the hotel alone. She wanted to call Mo Yushen, but she was afraid of disturbing his work.

He said he was going to stay at the resort, but there's still no word from him.

I guess I was too busy and forgot.

During dinner, Yu An didn't see Xi Jia, so she sent her a message: [Xi Jia, why aren't you eating dinner? Do you want me to pack some for you to take home?]

Xi Jia: [No need, thank you.]

She put her phone in her pocket and took out her room key to open the door.

When Xi Jia pushed open the door, she was slightly taken aback. The room light was on, and there was a room card in the card slot.

The living room still smelled of food.

"Husband?" Xi Jia was overjoyed.

"Um."

Mo Yushen came out of the bedroom, having already showered and changed into his pajamas, and gestured to her, "Wash your hands and eat."

Xi Jia didn't wash her hands; she threw herself into Mo Yushen's arms, nuzzled against his chest, and hugged him tightly, saying, "I missed you."

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Mo Yushen sensed that Xi Jia had been wronged and was exhausted both physically and mentally after a busy day. He didn't ask or say anything, but gently patted her back with his palm.

Xi Jia recovered quickly, putting all the unpleasantness aside.

"I thought you weren't coming tonight."

As she spoke, she went to wash her hands.

"If I'm not coming, I'll let you know in advance."

Mo Yushen heated up her food and ate with her.

He called Jiang Qin today to ask how Xi Jia was doing; she had only slept for a little over two hours last night. To his surprise, Jiang Qin was in the hospital with a fever and acute gastroenteritis.

"It's getting colder these days, so wear more clothes and don't catch a cold," Mo Yushen told her.

Xi Jia: "It's okay. I'm in good health."

As she spoke, she sneezed.

Quickly turn your face away.

Xi Jia glanced at Mo Yushen, who was also looking at her. He didn't scold her, but instead served her some hot soup, saying, "Drink more."

Xi Jia was obedient tonight, doing whatever he said. She ate quite a bit of food and drank two bowls of soup, and her body warmed up.

After dinner, Xi Jia didn't even have time to talk to Mo Yushen; she was busy taking notes and polishing the script for the next day.

Fearing she might misremember the key points and miss important information, she listened to the entire recording she made that afternoon.

It takes more than two hours to listen to all of the dozen or so recordings.

Xi Jia was engrossed in her work, completely forgetting that Mo Yushen was beside her.

Mo Yushen didn't disturb her. He finished his work at the company and browsed the news.

Previously, he never paid attention to the entertainment sector.

Ever since Xi Jia became a screenwriter and trended on social media, he's been checking out entertainment gossip every day.

Today, someone he knows is trending on social media: Ji Qingshi.

Driven by curiosity, Mo Yu clicked on the page.

It turns out that a photo of Ji Qingshi sitting with Chu Shan at a friend's bachelor party last night has been used by netizens for heated discussion and various speculations.

The two are still in love.

The photos were taken by the party host, who uploaded some snapshots of the party to Weibo. Ji Qingshi and Chu Shan were spotted in the photos and were noticed by sharp-eyed netizens.

Mo Yushen took a screenshot and sent it to Ji Qingshi, without saying anything else.

Soon, Ji Qingshi returned: [When did you become so gossipy?]

Mo Yushen, bored: [I'm playing with Mo Yushen's phone.]

Ji Qingshi: "..." So it was Xi Jia.

Didn't you go to the film set again today?

Mo Yushen: [I've gone. Mo Yushen came to see me.]

Ji Qingshi: [I just came from the company to bring you this down jacket.]

Mo Yushen: [No need to come, I have plenty, more than I can wear. Mo Yushen bought me all kinds—thin, thick, long, short.]

Ji Qing hesitated for a moment. Xi Jia's condition was worsening every day, and he wouldn't feel at ease if he didn't go to see her. But Mo Yushen was there too.

He went there, and he wasted their time.

He instructed the driver not to go to the resort, but to go home.

Mo Yushen waited a moment, but Ji Qingshi didn't reply. He then reposted the screenshot of the previously trending news.

Ji Qingshi rubbed his nose, still going on and on. He replied, "You actually believe things that are just baseless rumors?"

Mo Yushen posted a GIF of a pony, then a picture of a blade of grass. Finally, he added a question mark.

Ji Qingshi stared at him for a while before understanding, then asked if he was going to go back to his ex. [Xi Jia, can't you speak properly! It's so hard to talk to you these days!]

Mo Yushen was incredibly bored, so he used this as a way to pass the time. He sent the pony GIF again, but before he could add the grass and question mark, Ji Qingshi replied: [I don't have that fetish.]
