Chapter 128

She introduced herself, "Director Zhou, my name is Xi Jia. I've been waiting for you here for a long time. I write scripts in my spare time, so I came to recommend myself."

Zhou Mingqian looked at the script in her hand; it was probably the one she asked him to give her feedback on the day of the rear-end collision. She had arranged to have dinner with him on the weekend evening, but she never went.

Even though he knew she wouldn't remember, he still waited for her call that day.

Xi Jia handed him the file folder with both hands, saying, "I don't know how else I can see you, so I can only bother you here. Happy New Year in advance."

Zhou Mingqian nodded and, unusually, said, "Thank you." He then took the file bag.

Xi Jia didn't waste any more of his time. "My contact information is on the last page." She thanked him again, smiled at Yu An, and turned to leave.

Zhou Mingqian watched her until she got into the car before he looked away.

Yu An: "I wonder when Sister Xi Jia will remember me."

Zhou Mingqian glanced at her but didn't say anything.

Once in the car, Zhou Mingqian opened the file folder. The lettering on the cover was beautiful; the script's title was: "I Think of You So Much."

He turned to the first page, frowned, and continued reading.

He had read this script. It was the first time Xinglan publicly solicited excellent scripts, and Xi Jia had submitted this one; the content was the same, only the title was different.

It had already been renamed "Falling in Love with the Stars of the Deep Sea" by then.

Chapter 84

On New Year's Eve, some are happy while others are sad.

Xi Jia was still immersed in the joy of meeting her idol. She hoped that Zhou Mingqian might take a liking to her script and turn it into a TV series.

Ideally, she would be the screenwriter, working with Zhou Mingqian.

Let Ye Qiu play the female lead.

As for the male lead, Huo Teng would be fine too. He'd be perfect for getting back at his second brother.

While daydreaming, Xi Jia kept checking her phone, waiting for Mo Yushen to finish his work and come to see her.

Ye Qiu, who was in the same car, had just said she was sleepy and wanted to take a nap so she would have the energy to stay up all night counting down to the New Year. She wasn't asleep; her mind was a jumbled mess.

Most of them are related to Ji Qingshi.

Needless to say, Wu Yang, who was driving, was also preoccupied. He felt that Yu An had changed, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Today, she was dressed maturely and elegantly, and she was also wearing light makeup.

Logically, as Zhou Mingqian's assistant, she should be serving her boss. However, when Zhou Mingqian opened the car door for her, he even used his palm to protect her from the door frame.

After she got into the car, Zhou Mingqian went around to the other side.

It's astonishing that a proud and arrogant man like Zhou Mingqian would do such things for his assistant.

Ye Qiu couldn't sleep, so he gestured to Wu Yang to turn on some music to help him fall asleep.

Wu Yang casually played the song he'd been listening to before, "Worrying About Nothing." Ye Qiu didn't ask Wu Yang to change the song; it suited her quite well.

As Xi Jia passed by the Mo's Building, she stared at the building.

Before I could even see if the light in Mo Yushen's office was still on, the car drove by and the Mo's Building disappeared into the distance.

Mo Yushen wasn't finished yet. He didn't need to be this late, but he had concentrated on handling three days' worth of work and was using the New Year's Day holiday to spend time with Xi Jia.

By 8:30, everything was finished.

Mo Yushen called Ji Qingshi and asked him to prepare a private room.

The restaurant only has one private room that is not open to the public and is reserved for Ji Qingshi. Since Ji Qingshi doesn't need it tonight, the manager arranged for it to be given to Mo Yushen.

Mo Yushen didn't have his driver accompany him tonight; he drove there himself.

The apartment was bustling with activity. Xi Jia had asked the housekeeper to prepare a sumptuous meal in advance and had also done a simple makeover of the living room.

Xi Jia wasn't looking at the dining table most tonight, but at her phone, waiting for Mo Yushen to call her. It was almost nine o'clock, and he still hadn't made a sound.

Ye Qiu: "Is your Mo Yushen still at the company?"

Xi Jia snapped out of her reverie and put her phone aside. "She said she's very busy, she should be at the company."

Wu Yang chimed in, "The Mo Group has been very busy lately, so he probably can't get away. How about this, you go to the company and keep him company while he works overtime."

Xi Jia hesitated for a moment, then decided against it.

Ye Qiu noticed that Xi Jia seemed distracted all night. "Go ahead and come back so we can continue having fun. Yang Yang and I can chat about our experiences with scumbags."

Wu Yang: "..."

He thought that Ji Qingshi was probably even worse than him.

Xi Jia was still tempted and decided to go. She put on her coat, grabbed her car keys, and went downstairs. Once downstairs, she thought it over and decided to let Mo Yushen know in advance so as not to disturb his work.

Have you eaten yet? If not, I'll bring you some.

A car in front of her slowly came to a stop, but Xi Jia was too busy looking at her phone to notice.

Mo Yushen: [No need.] He pushed open the door and came down.

Xi Jia's good mood instantly turned cold upon seeing those two words.

"Xi Jia".

Xi Jia looked up abruptly; it was Mo Yushen. He walked over. "Aren't you cold standing here?"

Xi Jia: "It's alright." She looked at him quietly. She couldn't hide the longing she felt for him.

Mo Yushen approached, "Are you cold?"

Xi Jia shook his head: "It's alright." He looked at her intently, and she became flustered, no longer meeting his gaze, and turned her head to look to the side.

Mo Yushen wrapped one arm around her, and Xi Jia was jolted awake, her mind blank for a moment before she realized what was happening—he was hugging her. Her heart began to race uncontrollably.

Xi Jia held her breath and, mustering her courage, intertwined her fingers with his other hand.

Mo Yushen tightened his grip on her waist, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer.

Xi Jia pressed her forehead against his chest, "Let me warm it up." It was cold outside, and the tip of her nose was sore from the cold.

Half a minute later, Mo Yushen said in a low voice, "Get in the car, let's go eat." He took her hand.

Xi Jia's palms were already burning hot, while the other hand he wasn't holding was icy cold.

Mo Yushen turned his head to the side, "Were you looking for me just now?"

Xi Jia nodded. After a moment of silence, she said, "I was worried that you'd be working overtime alone and it would be lonely."

Mo Yushen explained why he was working so late: "I'll rest for three days. I can go with you to the club for training."

Xi Jia was overjoyed and forgave him for not coming to keep her company early on New Year's Eve.

Mo Yushen's car drove away. The reporters who had been lying in wait were dumbfounded. They hadn't expected to capture such a juicy scoop. They started their cars and followed.

They've been waiting downstairs at the apartment building since the afternoon. They've gone to great lengths to borrow access cards to get into the complex.

Ye Qiu arrived, but Ji Qingshi didn't. It wasn't a wasted wait, though, as they managed to photograph Mo Yushen and Xi Jia.

Xi Jia sat in the passenger seat, only chatting with Mo Yushen for a few words when waiting at red lights.

Mo Yushen parked the car and reached into the back seat to take a rose for Xi Jia. He had taken a detour to buy the flower, which had only delayed him for about ten minutes.

Xi Jia looked at the few glistening water droplets on the petal and wanted to ask him why he was so insistent on giving her only one flower. What did one flower mean to him?

Is it the woman he used to like, who only loves one rose?

The atmosphere was inappropriate, and she swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

When we arrived at the restaurant, all the seats in the main hall were full. We went into a private room and closed the door before it became quiet.

Xi Jia: "I just love the food at this restaurant."

Mo Yushen: "Yes, I had your second brother order it for me." As he spoke, he took her trench coat, hung it up, and all his movements were natural.

Xi Jia paused, her doubts growing. She also felt a strange familiarity with Mo Yushen, and unconsciously wanted to get closer to him.

When she sees him, she feels wronged, as if he has neglected her.

She was familiar with the scent of his embrace.

When I get close to him, I want to hug him, even kiss him, and even more.

Xi Jia drank half a glass of water and calmed herself down for a moment. She'd probably been reading too many time-travel novels.

While waiting for the food, Mo Yushen asked, "How's the script?"

Xi Jia: "I met Zhou Mingqian, handed him the script, and now I'm waiting for the results."

Mo Yushen poured her another half glass of warm water. "The script title today is quite unique. What does 'Thinking of You a Lot' mean?"

Xi Jia put down her cup and asked him, "Have you ever heard of Sussac syndrome?"

Mo Yushen was pouring himself water, his hand trembling slightly, almost spilling it. How could he not have heard of it? She suffered from this very illness.

He nodded. "I've heard of it. The Mo family owns a pharmaceutical factory. I've heard people at the R&D center mention it. But I don't know much about it."

Xi Jia had no doubts whatsoever; once she heard it, things would be much easier.

Since Mo Yushen didn't understand, she gave him a brief explanation.

"This disease is quite strange. The cause is still unknown, and medicine cannot explain it. Each patient's situation is slightly different. But all patients will experience amnesia, and the memory can only last for a maximum of 24 hours."

Mo Yushen played along, "The memory can only last for twenty-four hours?"

Xi Jia: "That's still the best-case scenario." She then talked about the patients she had encountered.

“When I was studying abroad, I encountered a case where a girl's memory lasted less than three hours. Later, her hearing and vision deteriorated. At that time, there were no better medical treatments. She was so outstanding, but she lost everything. Her boyfriend also left her. So I wrote a script to give her a happy ending in the script. Now I don't know how she is doing. Maybe her memory can recover some of its value, but many of the damages are irreversible and cannot be completely cured.”

“In the script, I wrote a man who always stayed by her side. I’m quite sentimental sometimes, and I always feel that love is a good medicine that can cure many diseases.”

Xi Jia held her hands with a teacup. "The story ends with the female lead slowly recovering. She had forgotten the male lead, but he stayed with her all the time. Later, she slowly remembered many moments related to him. So the title is 'I Remember You So Much'."

When I printed and bound the script for her in the afternoon, Mo Yushen also read the first few pages.

It was the script he saw a year ago, with a domineering CEO theme at the beginning.

So that's what the story is about.

He now finally understands why she later changed the title of the play to "Falling in Love with the Stars in the Deep Sea"—because when she first started writing the script, she was writing someone else's story.
