Chapter 91

They can communicate without words.

Because of the medicine, Xi Jia fell asleep quickly. She gently nudged Xi Jia, but Xi Jia didn't wake up, so she went downstairs with peace of mind.

Mo Yushen: "Auntie, there's no salt in this soup at all. Why is Xi Jia eating so blandly now?" When she was taking medication before, although she ate bland food, the oil and salt were normal. At most, she didn't eat meat and only ate vegetables.

The aunt sighed softly, "The medicine Jiajia is taking now is bad for all her organs. She can't eat too much salt, otherwise she won't be able to metabolize it."

Mo Yushen nodded, feeling that the soup he had just swallowed was unbearably salty.

The phone rang, and Mo Yushen went upstairs.

The screen displays 'Mo Lian'.

This was the second time Mo Lian had called him.

They went up to the second floor, where Mo Yushen answered the phone.

Mo Lian: "Tell me your terms." If things continue like this, Mo Yushen will swallow up all the companies under his personal name. That's his last resort; he can't afford to lose it.

Mo Yushen: "Leave the Mo family."

"Heh." Mo Lian hung up the phone.

Mo Yushen blacklisted his number. He was given a chance, but he didn't take it.

Upon entering the bedroom, Mo Yushen used the light from his phone to turn on the bedside lamp, dimming the light to the lowest setting so he could barely see the person on the bed.

The temperature wasn't low today, and Xi Jia slept without a blanket, completely outdoors. She was wearing that unicorn-patterned loungewear.

Put on your hat too.

She lay on her side, curled up on the bed, looking just like a little horse.

Mo Yushen sat down next to her, grabbed her ponytail, and gently tugged at it.

Xi Jia moved her mouth slightly, but her eyelids were too heavy to open, so she continued to sleep.

Mo Yushen leaned down, took her lips in his mouth, and kissed her for a few seconds.

Xi Jia wanted to hug someone, but she couldn't lift her arms.

Mo Yushen carefully picked up Xi Jia and placed her on his lap. Xi Jia felt the warmth of his embrace and unconsciously snuggled closer to him. Subconsciously, she called out, "Husband."

Knowing she couldn't hear him, Mo Yushen still responded as before: "Mm".

He stroked her cheek; she had lost even more weight than before.

Thinking of the rose petals in her new notebook, Mo Yushen took a lipstick and drew a rose on the back of her hand.

Xi Jia felt an itch on her hand and wanted to scratch it, but Mo Yushen held her hand down.

"husband."

Mo Yushen whispered in her ear, "Mmm."

Mo Yushen held Xi Jia for a while, then put her on the bed and pulled the blanket over her.

He sat at the table, helping Xi Jia with her notes.

I have a lunch appointment with Aunt Qin tomorrow. My second brother said that Aunt Qin has had a hard life and needs my help, so I agreed.

P.S.: I need to be nicer to Aunt Qin's son.

Mo Yushen took out another sheet of loose-leaf paper and wrote in colored pen: [Hope I have a sweet dream tonight, in which I sleep with Mo Yushen, hahaha, la la la!]

He used double-sided tape to stick it on and firmly attached it to the headboard.

After posting the message, Mo Yushen added another sentence to Xi Jia's notebook: "[Ji Qingshi is such a jerk, he won't even let me put stickers on the wall! I won't! From now on, I'll put one up every day.]"

With everything in order, Mo Yushen turned off the lights and pulled her into his arms.

Xi Jia clung tightly to Mo Yushen's neck, afraid that if she opened her eyes, the dream would end and she would be left alone.

She tried to open her eyes, but she was too sleepy.

Only when their lips and tongues intertwined did she feel that Mo Yushen belonged to her and had not left.

Mo Yushen is the same.

He was afraid she would forget him.

Although that day will come sooner or later.

The next day.

Xi Jia woke up naturally. The blackout curtains were already drawn, leaving only a sheer curtain. Sunlight streamed in, gently falling on the carpet.

Xi Jia glanced at the wall and saw the words, "I hope I have a sweet dream tonight, in which I sleep with Mo Yushen, hahaha, la la la!" She couldn't help but smile slightly.

She seemed to be dreaming. She dreamt of Mo Yushen, who was holding her and kissing her.

Xi Jia got out of bed barefoot, took a piece of paper, and saw a rose on the back of her hand. Much of it had been rubbed off, but the outline was still faintly visible. Why would she draw a rose on the back of her hand?

Xi Jia never figured out this question. Until later, she couldn't remember.

Xi Jia wrote on the paper: 【Although we only hugged and kissed, it's practically the same as sleeping together. Dream come true :) Lalala. Hahaha.】 She covered a whole sheet of paper with double-sided tape and stuck it below the previous one.

Xi Jia stared at the few notes for a while, then sat back down at the table and started flipping through her notebook.

I didn't record much yesterday. In the afternoon, I went to the horse farm to find Wu Yang to ride horses. When I got home, I talked to my second brother about Aunt Qin's script request.

She stared at the next few lines of text, her brow furrowing slightly. She had promised Ji Qingshi that she would write a script for Aunt Qin.

Probably.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have written it like that.

Also, why did she treat Aunt Qin's son better?

Is she a cutie?

It shouldn't be bad.

Upon seeing the last line, she couldn't help but frown. Ji Qingshi was a piece of trash.

I also arranged to meet Aunt Qin at noon, but she went to wash up.

Xi Jia arranged to meet Qin Sulan at Ji Qingshi's restaurant. She remembered the restaurant and was familiar with the route.

The restaurant wasn't cleared out today, and there were no parking spaces available in front.

The driver stopped at the intersection. Before getting out of the car, Xi Jia told the driver, "No need to come pick me up. I'm going to take a walk around Beijing this afternoon."

The driver always readily agreed; whatever she said went.

Xi Jia walked towards the restaurant. Because she couldn't hear, she was extra careful as she walked, glancing behind her from time to time, afraid that a car might come and she wouldn't be able to hear it.

When she turned her head a second time, Xi Jia stopped in her tracks.

That figure from behind looked somewhat familiar.

For some reason, Xi Jia's legs seemed to move on their own, and she turned and jogged over there, calling out, "Sir, wait a moment."

Mo Lian turned around at the familiar voice; it was Xi Jia.

Xi Jia ran over, her breath unsteady. When she saw the man's face, she froze. Even though Mo Yushen's face was already blurry in her mind, only a vague outline remained, she felt no urge towards the person in front of her, no desire to hug him.

Although the man's back view was somewhat similar, he wasn't the one she was looking for.

"I'm sorry, I mistook you for someone else." Xi Jia bowed slightly.

Mo Lian hadn't been following Xi Jia lately and didn't know how she was doing. He was prepared that she wouldn't recognize him, but he still asked, "Don't you remember me?"

Xi Jia saw the person open their mouth, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you." She pointed to her ear. She nodded apologetically again, then turned and left.

Mo Lian had an appointment to discuss business at a nearby restaurant. As Xi Jia's figure receded into the distance, he looked away.

Xi Jia ran her fingers through her hair, her mind a complete blank. Even if that person was Mo Yushen, she shouldn't have bothered him. She didn't understand why she had run over there just now.

Now, she only remembers Mo Yushen's name, only remembers that he was her husband. She's almost forgotten him; that sense of fear is ever-present.

With plenty of time before the appointed time, Xi Jia went to the restroom to touch up her makeup. At the end of the corridor, around the corner, a man's figure came into view.

Xi Jia's raised foot fell back down.

Mo Yushen was also stunned for a moment. Although they had only parted in the morning, they had only met while she was asleep. It had been many days since they had met while she was awake.

Xi Jia opened her mouth, her throat tightening, "Hello, is your surname Mo?"

Mo Yu nodded.

This gave Xi Jia immense courage; she was sure she hadn't mistaken him for someone else. She continued, "Mo Yushen?"

Mo Yushen looked at her and nodded again.

Xi Jia was momentarily speechless. In the past, when she wrote scripts, especially those depicting long-awaited reunions, she always felt that saying "How have you been these past few years?" was meaningless.

Later, she thought of many ways to start the meeting.

I realized that if we were to truly reunite after a long separation, there would only be one simple greeting.

Xi Jia put her hands in her trench coat pockets, trying to look as natural as possible, and said something rather cliché, "How have you been lately?"

Mo Yushen nodded again.

Xi Jia smiled faintly, paused for a moment, and said, "I'm fine too. I don't stay up late anymore. Don't worry about me."

Chapter 56

Xi Jia wanted to chat with Mo Yushen a little longer and extend their meeting by a few minutes. She paused for a few seconds, then gave up. She didn't know what to say to Mo Yushen.

Aside from remembering their divorce, there's nothing else.

Xi Jia kept staring at Mo Yushen's face, hoping to memorize it for a few more hours. When Mo Yushen looked at her and their eyes met, she looked away slightly.

Xi Jia pointed towards the restroom, unable to bring herself to say goodbye.

Mo Yu nodded deeply.

Xi Jia turned around. Even the turning motion was slower than usual, and before she was completely turned around, she glanced at Mo Yushen one last time.

Mo Yushen didn't leave; he stood at the window.

He had just dropped his mother off and wasn't in a hurry to leave, intending to bump into her at the restaurant, but ended up arriving here earlier than planned.
