Ghost Stories - Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Considering that those three inhuman, ghostly creatures were inconvenient to follow, and were bloodthirsty and brutal, capable of attacking people at any moment, after much deliberation, he decided to abandon them. So he deliberately let the three out to abduct people, revealing their location, luring the three monsters into the cave where they were surrounded and killed.

Kiki found a puddle and washed her face. Looking closely at her reflection, she saw her beautiful face; apart from being a little pale, there was nothing else wrong. Kiki hid in the mountains and waited until midnight before secretly returning to the city with Xiaofa.

After secretly returning home, Qiqi took out the family savings book, jewelry, and other valuables, and packed a few clothes. Seeing that it was getting dark and there was nowhere to go, she had no choice but to stay home for the night. She planned to find a secluded place to rent and get some food for Xiaofa after daybreak.

Finally, morning arrived. Qiqi dressed herself up and went to a secluded spot on the outskirts of the city to rent. She then made a phone call and spent several hundred yuan to have a series of fake documents made. By the time everything was finished, it was already dusk. Thinking of Xiaofa at home, Qiqi decided to kidnap someone for him. She had to protect Xiaofa no matter what, even though he could never be the same again.

Thinking of Xiaofa, Qiqi felt a pang of sadness. She couldn't understand why she, who was already heartless, still had such rich emotions.

Qiqi wandered aimlessly through the streets, wallowing in self-pity, until the streetlights began to twinkle. Finding "food" for Xiaofa was a real problem for her; she couldn't just grab someone and run. If that were possible, with her current skills and superior physical abilities, it wouldn't be difficult. However, doing so would expose her whereabouts to that hot-blooded police officer and that eccentric Lin Feng, and she didn't know how much trouble that would cause her.

After racking his brains for a while, he still couldn't come up with a good solution, so he just stood there blankly on the overpass. Suddenly, someone patted him on the shoulder and said, "Miss, how about having some fun? How much? Name your price!"

Kiki raised an eyebrow, about to erupt in anger. The man behind her, reeking of alcohol, staggered and looked at Kiki with a frivolous expression. He clearly mistook her for a prostitute.

She reached out and grabbed the man's hand, ready to teach him a lesson. Suddenly, she remembered that this man was practically "food" delivered right to her doorstep—perfect for taking back to feed Xiao Fa. With that thought, Qiqi smiled sweetly at the man, winked, and said, "How much do you want?"

The drunkard, seeing Qiqi's beautiful features and fair skin, was already completely captivated, slurring, "You...you name it, that's how much."

Qiqi smiled seductively and said, "How about 300 for one night?"

The man was practically bursting with impatience, and said hastily, "Okay, okay, let's go to the hotel!"

Qiqi lowered her head and said, "No, it's not safe there. How about coming to my house? It's safe and comfortable, and it'll be better for you so no one can see us."

Upon hearing this, the man's face lit up with a smile, his bones practically melting, and he felt as if his soul had flown away and he was missing six of his seven spirits. He immediately said, "Good, good, it's rare for a beauty to be so thoughtful. Let's go quickly, a moment of bliss is worth a thousand pieces of gold, let's not waste any time, let's go!"

Kiki nestled close to the man, pretending to be a little bird clinging to him, and together they went down the overpass, hailed a car, and headed towards their residence.

They arrived at Qiqi's house soon.

As soon as they entered the house, the man hugged Qiqi and tried to kiss her. Qiqi pushed him away and said, "Don't rush, close the door properly! So no one can see us."

After closing the door, the man eagerly began to take off his clothes. Just as he took off his shirt, he saw Qiqi sneer and said, "It's good you're off, saves me trouble."

The man, unsure of Qiqi's meaning, was about to ask when he suddenly heard a "hoarse" sound coming from the inner room. Startled, he sobered up considerably and asked in surprise, "Is there someone else in the room?"

Kiki smiled coldly and opened the bedroom door. Xiao Fa pounced out like a leopard. The man, who was unbuckling his belt, hadn't even had time to react before Xiao Fa tackled him to the ground. Just as the man was about to scream, Kiki, without any visible movement, was already in front of him, covering his mouth with her hand.

The man watched helplessly as the monstrous-looking Xiao Fa bared its gleaming white teeth and lunged at him. Before he could struggle, Xiao Fa had already bitten into the carotid artery in his neck. The man felt a sharp pain in his neck and thought, "It's over, it's over." He couldn't scream; Qi Qi and Xiao Fa held him down, unable to move.

Not long after, he felt dizzy and lightheaded, and then everything went black before his eyes, and he fainted.

Seeing that the man was unconscious, Qiqi let go of his hand. Watching Xiaofa greedily suck the man's blood, his mouth filled with it, Qiqi felt a pang of sadness. A once handsome young man was now half-human, half-ghost. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she silently suppressed her grief, refusing to cry out.

Upon seeing blood, Xiao Fa became enraged. He grabbed the man's head and ripped it off. He tossed the head aside, then ripped open the man's chest, pulled out the heart, and began to chew it with relish. He ate it noisily.

Kiki lost her heart and wasn't afraid of bloodshed, but she still found it a bit unbearable to watch. What had Xiao Fa turned into? He was no different from those three zombies.

After Xiao Fa finished eating and drinking, he calmed down. Qi Qi took the package she had packed during the day, and seeing that it was getting late, she put a large overcoat on Xiao Fa and added a big hat before going out.

After arriving at the newly rented house, Qiqi tidied up the house a little, arranged for Xiaofa to sleep in the inner room, and lay in the living room staring blankly at the moon.

Volume 1, Path of Vengeful Spirits, Chapter 34: The Devil's Daughter (8)

As night fell, Qiqi, feeling restless, went to the bedroom. Xiaofa lay curled up in a corner, not breathing. The moonlight shone on his face, making him appear even more terrifying and horrifying.

Qiqi stroked Xiaofa's deformed and rotting face, wondering how much longer he could live like this. Was she going to spend the rest of her life with him, living such a shameful life? Thinking of all the happy times they had shared, she felt sad and tears welled up in her eyes again.

After thinking for a long time, Qiqi suddenly slammed her hand down on Xiaofa's head. Without a sound, Xiaofa's head was smashed to pieces. A burst of yin fire erupted from her hand, instantly burning Xiaofa's corpse to ashes, leaving no trace of the burning.

Watching as Xiaofa was burned to ashes without her noticing, leaving not even a speck of ash, Qiqi was overcome with grief and lay on the bed, sobbing uncontrollably. After all, years of affection meant never seeing each other again; how could she not be heartbroken? After crying for a while, Qiqi unknowingly fell asleep on the bed. What the future held, this heartless devil's daughter neither thought about nor wanted to think about.

Lin Feng stretched lazily, opened the window to let the sunlight stream in, feeling incredibly comfortable and relaxed. Several days had passed without anything unusual happening, which put his mind at ease. As for the red thread on his hand, Lin Feng couldn't be bothered with it anymore.

Xiao Jie called out from the kitchen, "Lazybones, get up!"

Lin Feng didn't answer, but ran into the kitchen, grabbed Xiao Jie Jie, and spun her around several times, saying, "Who are you calling a lazybones!"

Little Jie hugged Lin Feng's neck and laughed happily, saying, "I'm talking about you, I'm talking about you!"

After laughing and joking for a while, Xiao Jie gently buried her head in Lin Feng's arms and said, "This matter is almost over. Go back and quit your job as a tabloid editor. How about you come and find a job here?"

Lin Feng laughed and said, "No problem, a phone call will take care of it. My friend can bring the things over later!"

Little Jiejie leaned happily on Lin Feng's shoulder and said, "Sigh, it's such a pity that someone as beautiful as me, Little Jiejie, is going to marry a shaman."

Lin Feng exclaimed, "What? Marry me?"

Xiao Jie said, "Yes, if I don't marry you, who else should I marry?"

Lin Feng said, "I only said I wanted to be your boyfriend, I didn't say I wanted you to marry me."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Jie was stunned for a moment, then punched Lin Feng hard, saying, "You dare!"

Lin Feng suddenly pulled Xiao Jie Jie into his arms and kissed her passionately. Xiao Jie Jie immediately melted in Lin Feng's fiery tenderness and kissed him passionately in return.

Xiao Jie didn't have to go to work today, so after breakfast she played games on the computer with Lin Feng. After playing for a while, Lin Feng needed to log on to QQ to contact the newspaper there, and Xiao Jie logged on to her own QQ as well.

After a while, a profile picture suddenly flashed on Xiaojie's QQ and a message came in: "Are you there?"

Xiao Jie glanced at the name "Monster Angie" and a thought struck her. Qiqi's original online name was Angie. Could it be Qiqi? Xiao Jie checked the number and told Lin Feng, "It's Qiqi!"

Lin Feng immediately tensed up and said, "Ah!"

Xiao Jie replied to the message: "Yes, are you Qiqi? Where are you?"

Qiqi asked, "Yes, is your 'Shindorin' here?"

Xiao Jie asked Lin Feng, "How should we answer?"

Lin Feng thought for a moment and said, "Answer truthfully!"

Xiao Jiejie's friend said, "I'm here, what's up?"

Qiqi said, "Tell him that I just want to live a peaceful life and I hope you will stop bothering me."

Lin Feng snatched the keyboard and said, "As long as you don't hurt innocent people, I promise I won't bother you anymore."

Kiki said, "I will. Although I have no heart, I'm not that bloodthirsty. I can control myself, and I still have reason!"

Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief; the situation was much better than he had expected. He typed, "I can let you off the hook, but I can't guarantee the police won't continue investigating this matter. You need to be careful!"

Kiki said, "Thank you, I'll be careful!"

Lin Feng typed, "I hope you have a good day." That was all he could say to comfort her. He couldn't think of any better words to comfort a girl who had experienced such a drastic change.

Qiqi said, "Thank you, and I hope you can treat Xiaojie well." Then she sent another message saying, "You like to get involved in supernatural things. If you have any really difficult or unsolvable problems, you can leave me a message privately. Maybe it can help me solve the mystery of my origins!"

After receiving this message, Qiqi's profile picture turned gray, indicating she had gone offline. Lin Feng sighed. He truly sympathized with Qiqi and felt comforted that she could maintain such a state of mind. His only wish was that she could hide well and not be found by the police.

Xiao Jie was also a little sad, after all, Qi Qi was her friend, but she couldn't help her much.

As the two were reminiscing, Li Mingsheng called, saying he wanted to invite them to dinner and that there was a very important person he wanted to see, Lin Feng.

Lin Feng asked who it was, but Li Mingsheng refused to say, only mentioning the location and time for dinner before hanging up. Lin Feng was puzzled; Li Mingsheng was usually very straightforward, so why was he being so hesitant today? Fortunately, he didn't have any bad feelings, so Lin Feng wasn't too worried.

At exactly 7:00 PM, Lin Feng and Xiao Jie arrived at the agreed-upon hotel. Li Mingsheng had been waiting there for a while, with a very energetic middle-aged man standing beside him. Li Mingsheng introduced him, saying, "This is Brother Zhou Liang. He's heard some things about you from me and is very interested in you, eager to get to know you."

Zhou Liang extended his hand and shook hands firmly with Lin Feng, saying, "It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Lin!"

Lin Feng also said, "No, no, Captain Li exaggerated!"

Zhou Liang smiled mysteriously and said, "No, I completely believe what Captain Li said. I've called you here today to discuss something important. Let's go inside and talk!" With that, he went into the private room first.

Lin Feng glanced at Li Mingsheng, who whispered, "It's definitely a good thing." He then patted Lin Feng on the shoulder and went inside.

Volume 2, Chapter 1: The Head-Splitting Strike (1)

A handsome, dashing man was slowly sipping his drink, chatting with a beautiful woman across from him. His humorous conversation made the woman giggle, covering her mouth and trembling with delight.

"You don't know, everyone at my workplace says I look like Andy Lau."

"Hehe, you really do look a bit like it."

Encouraged by the beautiful woman, the man became even more enthusiastic and continued, "At the last company's talent show, my rendition of 'The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' stunned the audience."

The beautiful woman's eyes widened as she exclaimed, "Really? That song is really difficult for a male voice to sing!"

The man smiled nonchalantly and said, "Otherwise, how could I have shocked the entire audience!"

The beautiful woman was extremely impressed and looked at the man with admiration, saying, "I must hear you sing next time I have time."

The man was about to speak when he suddenly felt his heart race and his head throb. He reached up and pressed his temples. The beautiful woman asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

The man, trying to maintain some composure in front of the woman, said, "It's nothing, I guess I stayed up too late online last night and didn't sleep well, so my head is a little dizzy!"

The beautiful woman said with concern, "Look at you, you need to take better care of your health in the future."

The man felt his head getting heavier, but he still shook his head and said, "It's nothing."

The beautiful woman looked at the man in surprise and said, "Your complexion doesn't seem quite right. Why is your face so red?"

The man said in surprise, "Really?" He could feel his heart pounding wildly, as if all the blood in his body was rushing around, and he felt waves of panic washing over him. The man felt dizzy and almost slipped off the table and under the chair; clearly, something was wrong.

The beautiful woman wanted to help the man up, but then she remembered that their relationship hadn't reached that point yet, so she withdrew her outstretched hand.

The man wobbled a couple of times while holding onto the table, then forced a smile and said, "It's alright!" Just as he finished speaking, suddenly, with two "thud, thud" sounds, the man's two eyeballs flew out of their sockets and landed directly in the fries in front of the beautiful woman.

The beautiful woman screamed uncontrollably, drawing the attention of all the other diners. Upon seeing what was happening, some of the more timid fainted, while even the bolder ones felt their legs tremble.

After the man's eyeballs spurted out, two streams of blood gushed from his eye sockets, spraying directly onto the beautiful woman's head and face. The woman let out a soft "oh," slumped into her chair, and slid under the table.

Then blood gushed from the man's nostrils, mouth, and ears, some even splashing onto the restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows. A waitress stood frozen in terror, unable to utter a sound. The gushing blood grew increasingly violent, showing no signs of abating. Finally, as the piano piece "Fate" playing in the restaurant reached its climax, the man's head exploded with a sharp "crack." Blood and brain matter scattered everywhere, a clump of which flew directly into the mouth of a horrified customer whose jaw dropped in disbelief.

The man remained in the position of leaning on the table, but his head was gone from his shoulders and neck, spurting blood like a fountain. Everyone around him was sprayed with blood, as if a rain of blood had fallen from the sky. After spraying for a while, the pressure subsided, and blood began to gush out in gurgling spurts.

Only then did the man's body slowly slump to the side, landing with a thud on the ground. The headless corpse fell right in front of the terrified waitress. The horror finally pushed the waitress beyond her limits; she collapsed to the ground without even uttering a sound.

The others who had recovered from their shock fled in panic, and the restaurant was filled with screams, the sound of breaking glasses, and the crashing of tables and chairs.

Lin Feng had just finished teaching a class and was walking towards his office when his phone rang. He took it out and saw it was Zhou Liang calling. After answering the call, Lin Feng checked the time and hurriedly left the school. On the way, he sent Xiao Jie a text message: "There's a case; I won't be home for dinner tonight!"

It turns out that Zhou Liang, who treated Lin Feng to dinner last time, is the director of the newly established "Special Investigation Division." The "Special Investigation Division" is a newly established unit, officially named the "Special Incident Investigation Division," a sister unit to Li Mingsheng and his team. It's a department specifically responsible for handling various paranormal events and bizarre cases. The unit has agents like Lin Feng who are placed among the general public using special methods. This makes it easier to connect with the public and understand the truth. Because the general public often has some reservations about people in government uniforms.

Lin Feng was assigned to the same school as Xiao Jie Jie, teaching "Artistic Cultivation." Teaching "Artistic Cultivation" at a medical university generally doesn't offer much of a future. However, because it's an elective course, and one that anyone can cover for if someone's unavailable, it's easier to coordinate with Lin Feng's work in the "Special Investigation Department." In fact, even if he skipped class without prior notice, no one in the school would say anything. Rumors circulated when he joined that he had powerful connections and a strong background, and even the principal had to fawn over him.

Of course, only Xiao Jie knew his true identity. The day Zhou Liang proposed that Lin Feng join the newly established "Special Investigation Department," Xiao Jie knew Lin Feng definitely wouldn't refuse. Because she knew Lin Feng very well; if his resistance to beautiful women was 50%, his resistance to these bizarre things was only 0. Sure enough, Lin Feng readily agreed to Zhou Liang's offer and became a member of the "Special Investigation Department."

That evening, the group returned home having a great time, and the next day Lin Feng went to collect his credentials. Then, Director Zhou, through a series of connections, coordinated personnel matters and arranged for Lin Feng to teach at S Medical University, the same school as Xiao Jiejie. During the arrangement, the tone subtly implied that Lin Feng was a relative of a powerful figure, someone working in a central government department. The person in charge naturally did everything in their power to make the arrangements, so Lin Feng landed a job at the school, a sinecure with no real responsibility. If Xiao Jiejie hadn't also worked there, she probably wouldn't have seen him even once a month.

For nearly two months since Qiqi's incident, nothing strange had happened to Lin Feng, and he had been enjoying some peace and quiet. Receiving the phone call today genuinely excited him.

After Xiao Jie sent him a text message telling him to be careful, Lin Feng hailed a taxi and headed straight for the Municipal Public Security Bureau's Special Investigation Division.

When Lin Feng arrived at the Special Investigation Division, a group of people were already sitting in the office. He said, "Sorry I'm late!"
