Ghost Stories - Chapter 17
Lin Feng said, "I remember now, this room is all painted red, and the things drawn on the walls are talismans. There's a ghost imprisoned in this room! But that's not his intention. He wants to attract our attention and get us to rescue him. That must be it!"
As soon as Lin Feng finished speaking, the television suddenly went black, and the lights in the house flickered on and off.
Lin Feng said loudly, "If you want our help, please stop the light from flashing!" Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the light stopped flashing.
Li Mingsheng said with a wry smile, "Although he doesn't want to harm us, how can we help him in our current state? He can see us, but we can't see him!"
Lin Feng thought for a moment and said, "I have a way!"
Li Mingsheng said with an "Oh?" and then asked, "What method? Tell me quickly, I just want to get out of this awful place as soon as possible!"
Lin Feng said, "Even if there's a way, we have to leave this place and gather enough manpower before we can come back. Right now, the two of us can't make contact with him!"
Li Mingsheng said in frustration, "Damn it, that's the same as not saying anything at all!"
Lin Feng said loudly, "I think you can hear what I'm saying. If you believe me, I'll have someone perform a ritual to contact you tomorrow night. If you need any help then, we'll do our best to help. But I hope you'll let us out now."
After Lin Feng finished speaking, nothing changed in the house. Just as Lin Feng thought the ghost in the house didn't believe him, the door suddenly opened a crack with a "snap." Li Mingsheng was overjoyed and grabbed the doorknob, afraid the door would suddenly close again.
As the two reached the door, Lin Feng said to the house, "Thank you for trusting me. I'll definitely come tomorrow night after I've gathered enough people, so don't worry!"
Once outside the building, Li Mingsheng quickly started the car.
In the car, Li Mingsheng said with a wry smile, "Damn it, they locked us up for no reason, and we should thank them for letting us go. It's outrageous!"
Lin Feng said, "There's no harm in being respectful to ghosts!"
Li Mingsheng said irritably, "I've never seen you treat me with any respect." He paused, then added, "You're not really planning to come and meet him tomorrow night, are you?"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "You must come. You have to keep your promise to the ghost, otherwise he will haunt you for the rest of your life, and you will never have a peaceful life!"
Li Mingsheng wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said, "Is it that serious? Do I need to come tomorrow?"
Lin Feng said, "Of course we're coming. My agreement is the same as yours, otherwise he wouldn't have let the two of us come out together!"
Li Mingsheng sighed and said, "Damn it, fine, let's just accept it. They've come!" Then he asked, "Should I take you to the Special Investigation Department or home?"
Lin Feng said, "Let's go home. Xiao Jie will worry about me if I don't go home for a day. I'll just call Director Zhou later to let him know!"
Li Mingsheng turned his car around and drove towards Xiao Jiejie's house.

When Lin Feng returned, Xiao Jie Jie first gave him a good ear twisting before she took pity on him and let him eat.
The next morning, Xiao Jie woke up to find Lin Feng drawing his scribbles in the living room. Xiao Jie went to buy breakfast, told Lin Feng to be careful, and chatted for almost half an hour before leaving.
Upon arriving at the station, Lin Feng asked Zhou Liang to find him a brave woman, as they needed her to summon ghosts that night. However, there were already few women in the station, and they were all too frightened to go when they heard about summoning ghosts. Zhou Liang and Lin Feng tried to persuade them repeatedly, but these beauties shook their heads like rattles, refusing to agree.
Finally, Lin Feng had no choice but to ask Li Mingsheng for help. Li Mingsheng quickly brought over a young policewoman, a college graduate assigned to the station. During her university years, she had played many ghost-summoning games like Ouija boards and spirit writing. Upon hearing that a master could summon ghosts and have direct contact with them, she immediately became excited and clamored to participate. Li Mingsheng eventually chose her, leaving the others very unhappy, constantly complaining that he was being biased. Li Mingsheng exhausted himself, pleading and saying all sorts of nice things, practically swearing an oath to the heavens that he would give them priority in the future, before they reluctantly let him go. Li Mingsheng was sweating profusely, marveling at how fierce women could be.
As a result, the beautiful woman blushed deeply when Lin Feng arrived.
Lin Feng asked the beautiful woman to sit down and said, "Summoning ghosts at night is inherently dangerous. Women are more vulnerable and easily possessed by ghosts!"
"I know!"
"Just be prepared for this. Secondly, you are not allowed to wear red clothes, including underwear and socks. If you wear red, you must change them!"
The beautiful woman's face immediately turned as red as fire, and she stammered, unable to speak.
Lin Feng frowned and said, "This is no joke. If you are possessed by a very fierce ghost, I may not be able to save you. If you wear this, change it immediately."
Upon hearing this, the beautiful woman nodded and ran out.
After watching the beautiful woman leave, Lin Feng asked Li Mingsheng, "What was her name?"
Li Mingsheng laughed and said, "You even know what underwear other people wear, yet you still need to ask me what her name is?"
Lin Feng said, "Get lost! I was just saying that, who knew she would actually wear it?"
Li Mingsheng laughed heartily and said, "That's pretty impressive. Her name is Zhang Hong. What do you think? Not bad, right? Want me to introduce you?"
Lin Feng rolled his eyes at him and said, "Do you want me to get killed by Xiao Jie Jie? But you're over thirty, it's time to think about your personal life. I think this one is pretty good!"
The two were joking around when Zhang Hong returned. She blushed as soon as she saw Lin Feng. Lin Feng asked, "Finished changing?"
Zhang Hong nodded slightly, but Lin Feng asked another question that almost choked Li Mingsheng. Lin Feng said, "It's not her period, is it?"
Zhang Hong shook her head and said, "No!"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Okay, then there's no problem. This afternoon, Li Mingsheng, you, and I will go together. I will take all necessary safety precautions, so there shouldn't be any issues!"
For the rest of the time, Lin Feng told Zhang Hong to relax. He not only took her out for a meal, but also took her sightseeing around. They didn't return until the afternoon.
As darkness fell, Lin Feng gathered his belongings and got into the car, heading towards Wang Peng's house.
Upon arriving at their destination, the three went upstairs and reached the door, which opened automatically with a "click." Lin Feng entered expressionlessly, while Zhang Hong, upon seeing this, was immediately frightened, as if the ghosts inside knew they had arrived and had opened the door for them.
Zhang Hong entered cautiously, while Lin Feng had already begun preparations.
Lin Feng first took a bowl of rice out of his backpack, then cut his finger, dripped a few drops of blood onto it, and then stuck three incense sticks in it and lit them. After that, he lit a red candle next to the bowl. The flickering candlelight illuminated the very strange expressions on the faces of the three people.
Lin Feng took out two more talismans, sticking one on Zhang Hong's vest and the other on Li Mingsheng's vest. He couldn't stick them on the person who orchestrated the summoning of the spirit. He then gave each of them a talisman, to be held between their middle and index fingers. If the talisman burned, it meant the ghost wanted to possess them; they could immediately shake off the talisman.
Lin Feng first explained that this was mainly about communicating with ghosts, so the danger might be much greater than simply summoning a spirit. He specifically instructed Zhang Hong to be careful and watch the talisman in her hand.
After saying that, the three of them sat down around the rice bowl, their hands clasped tightly together. Lin Feng told everyone to keep their minds blank, and that he would handle everything.
Li Mingsheng and Zhang Hong cleared their minds as instructed, and Lin Feng concentrated to begin contact with the ghost. Less than a minute after they sat there, the lights in the house suddenly went out. Lin Feng clearly felt Zhang Hong's body trembling slightly and softly said, "Don't be startled, keep your mind clear!"
A chilling wind swept through the house, causing the curtains to billow in the window, and all three felt a bone-chilling cold. The bowl of rice they were surrounding suddenly floated up, and then all the furniture in the house began to tremble slightly. The trembling was gentle, but it still made a sound.
Zhang Hong slightly opened her eyes, and Lin Feng said, "Close your eyes. Only open them when I tell you to, otherwise it will be dangerous!" Zhang Hong stuck out her tongue and closed her eyes.
A gust of cold wind blew, and the bowl fell from the sky, shattering into pieces with a "crack," scattering rice all over the floor. The wind stretched the candle flame long, then with a "whoosh," it went out. Only a few faint rays of moonlight filtered into the entire house from outside the window.
The furniture in the house seemed to have stopped shaking and was now silent. Apart from the ticking of the clock, the only other sounds were the heavy breathing of the three people, clearly indicating that none of them were at peace.
Lin Feng was secretly puzzled as to why the ghost he had been trying to contact hadn't appeared yet. He couldn't help but look around, but nothing seemed to be happening; the only sound was the rustling of the curtains in the wind.

Lin Feng was feeling puzzled when suddenly a figure appeared before his eyes. She wore a white dress, had a pale face, and her long hair was parted in the middle. Lin Feng was startled and exclaimed, "Are you He Feng?"
The woman in white nodded gently and said, "Yes!"
Hearing the sound, Li Mingsheng and Zhang Hong, who were standing nearby, both flinched and tried to open their eyes. He Feng said softly, "Don't open your eyes, there's one more!" He Feng's voice wasn't loud, but it carried a certain authority. Li Mingsheng and Zhang Hong both kept their eyes tightly shut, feeling even more uneasy, not expecting there to be another one.
Lin Feng was even more shocked and said, "Besides you, there's another one?"
He Feng nodded and said, "Yes." As soon as He Feng finished speaking, another gust of cold wind blew towards Lin Feng. Lin Feng instinctively closed his eyes. When he opened them, a man was already standing next to He Feng.
He Feng said, "Alright, everyone can open your eyes now!"
Li Mingsheng let out a long breath, opened his eyes, and looked at He Feng and the man beside him without any fear. Zhang Hong first opened her eyes a crack to peek, and finding that the two ghosts were not as scary as she had imagined, she breathed a sigh of relief and opened her eyes wide to carefully examine the two ghosts.
He Feng smiled at Zhang Hong's cautious expression, showing no ghostly aura whatsoever, but rather resembling an ethereal fairy. She gently said to Zhang Hong, "Little sister, do you think we're scary? This brother's name is Wang Peng! Look carefully, we're not so scary!"
Before Zhang Hong could answer, Lin Feng exclaimed again, "He's Wang Peng? My God, what's going on?"
Wang Peng didn't look like a ghost at all; he looked utterly defeated and helpless. If it weren't for the faint moonlight shining on him and the fact that there was no shadow of him on the ground, Lin Feng really wouldn't have been sure.
Zhang Hong sat up from the ground, grabbed He Feng's hand, and said, "Wow, I didn't expect a female ghost to be so beautiful! She's nothing like the ones in the movies!"
Lin Feng and Li Mingsheng almost vomited blood. This little girl was far too bold. If Lin Feng hadn't realized that He Feng meant no harm, he probably would have been scared out of his wits. What kind of carefree girl would hold hands with a female ghost before even understanding the situation?
Zhang Hong held He Feng's hand with great interest: "Wow, your hands are so cold! They're so smooth and feel so nice to touch. You're so beautiful, sister!"
He Feng gently withdrew her hand and said, "Don't get too close to me, it'll be bad for your health!"
Lin Feng coughed and said, "I'd like to ask, what exactly happened? Why are you two locked up here? Also, I've seen the records about you; you disappeared after killing more than 20 people single-handedly. Why are you here?"
He Feng glanced at the red walls around the house and said in a slightly frightened voice, "We don't have much time, so I'll just give you a brief explanation!"
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Okay, tell me quickly, there are too many difficult things to solve!"
He Feng said, "Two years ago, I met a man. He was eloquent, witty, and humorous, and I quickly fell in love with him. He was also very good to me." A gentle look appeared in He Feng's eyes, but then her eyes turned into a look of resentment.
Lin Feng realized that the man's feelings for her were not simply a matter of love; he must have some other purpose.
As expected, He Feng's voice turned icy cold as she said with hatred, "Who knew that man didn't love me at all? He was only interested in my body. Because I was born on a Yin year, Yin month, and Yin day, a pure Yin body, someone like me would easily be used by him after death. So he drugged me, sealed the Baihui point on my head, and planted a 'Head-Splitting Order' on me, causing me to kill more than 20 people and fall into an abyss of no return." As she spoke, her eyes filled with tears.
Lin Feng asked, "Who is this man?"
Wang Peng, who had been silent the whole time, said, "It's Zhang Xiang!"
Lin Feng had already guessed about 80% of it, because he had always felt that something was off about Zhang Xiang, even his way of dying was very strange.
Li Mingsheng asked Wang Peng curiously, "Then why did he kill you?"
Wang Peng said weakly, "Because I usually like these kinds of things, I accidentally discovered his secret that he killed He Feng. As a result, when he found out, he put some kind of curse on me, making me die in front of my girlfriend. Alas, I've been trapped here ever since I died, unable to get out. Boss Long and I discovered his secret together. I wonder if Boss Long is alright!"
Lin Feng said, "Don't worry! Boss Long has been busy and hasn't looked at the website and pictures he gave me. Everything is fine now."
After listening, Wang Peng sighed, nodded with a relieved expression.
Zhang Hong asked curiously, "How did he die from a headshot? That sounds terrifying!"
Wang Peng's two eyeballs suddenly popped out of their sockets, and then his head exploded with a "bang." Zhang Hong screamed in fright, her eyes wide open.
He Feng scolded, "Why are you scaring her? She's just a little girl!" Then she said to Zhang Hong, "Don't be afraid, he's just trying to scare you, but that's really how he looked when he died!"
Zhang Hong composed herself and looked at Wang Peng, who was standing there perfectly fine, his head intact, showing no signs of an explosion. She blinked in surprise at Wang Peng, not understanding what had happened.
It turns out that Wang Peng had just affected her brainwaves, causing her to see the scene of her death.
Lin Feng frowned and said, "But Zhang Xiang recently died suddenly. Although his death was very strange, he has disappeared after all. Where are we supposed to find him?"
He Feng said, "Perhaps he has transformed into someone else!"
Lin Feng was taken aback and asked, "What do you mean?"
He Feng said, "I know he has a strange spell that can assimilate his own appearance with that of others."
"Huh?" Lin Feng was almost dizzy. Today he realized that he was nothing compared to Zhang Xiang. "There are such spells? I've never even heard of them!" Lin Feng shook his head and said.
Volume 2, Chapter 10, Head-Splitting (10)
Lin Feng felt a vague sense of fear towards the unfathomable Zhang Xiang; he was an enigmatic figure. Even He Feng, who had dated him, and Wang Peng, who had been his friend for several years, couldn't quite define him. When Lin Feng asked what kind of person Zhang Xiang was, the two of them stammered for a long time before finally admitting that they didn't know either. It seemed as if this man could change completely in an instant.
Lin Feng then asked He Feng, "How did he use you to kill someone? And how did you end up trapped here?"
He Feng's already fair face turned even paler, eerily so. He Feng said in a low voice, "He peeled off my skin completely, hid it, and offered it to the cursed person. Then he used the 'Soul-Binding Curse' to bring me here and trap me here. Look, this whole house is red, with strange things painted on it, those are all musical notes."
Lin Feng asked in astonishment, "Musical notes?"
He Feng nodded and said, "Yes, this entire living room is a 'soul trap,' an ancient method of trapping souls. We simply can't get out!"
